Delicious food and wonderful service. I’ve eaten here over 10 times and it’s always great! We love to sit outside by the water. We come here with our two toddlers and it’s very calm, bottom loud and easy with them. Kid friendly food options. I’d recommend the Maqlub, the skewers and especially the starter. Rami was our waiter today, a doctor none the less, and super helpful and friendly. He helped us order a great selection of food and exactly the right amount :) I only took one photo in the rush to eat!

The staff is incredibly friendly and hospitable, making sure you feel welcome immediately. The atmosphere is cozy, and the restaurant is always clean and tidy. For me, this is without a doubt one of the best Syrian restaurants in Amsterdam. I can wholeheartedly recommend Sham Oost to everyone. I will certainly be coming back here very often.

Literally one of the most savory and delicious meals I have ever had in Amsterdam. I love this place I ended up taking another meal to go. Big shout out to the chefs !

The food itself was tasty, hence the four stars. But the service is very poor. The servers lacked a customer-friendly attitude; it seemed as if they were serving with difficulty. Serious looks, curtness, and no smile or sense of welcome; we received neither a smile nor a feeling of being welcome. The empty glass bottles remained on the table despite the fact that we had ordered drinks several times before; they were not cleared away. At one point, there was no more space on the table due to the empty glasses. Moreover, it wasn't that busy, so that wasn't the cause. There was one gentleman who was cheerful and hospitable, I think the manager/owner(?). A real shame, considering it is a beautiful location and the food is fine! But such an attitude from the staff immediately ruins the atmosphere. First time and the last time, very disappointing..

Excellent service and good food

The food was not as we expected, the meat was not perfectly cooked, the salad had no spices or other accessories. The rice was good, the drinks were fresh and good. We sat outside on the terrace which was nice and cozy, good service and clean restaurant/WC.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The location was nice and quiet, unlike the noisy restaurants in the city center. We ordered mixed grill, arayes, and ribs.

Unfortunately, it was the worst restaurant experience I've had. The meat was raw and the food tasted terrible. Nothing was good – not the rice, not the tabbouleh, not the meat. We only ate because we were hungry, and I paid 150 euros. It's a shame that I have a review of this restaurant and based my choice on it.

The restaurant's location is very nice, with great lighting and a lovely view. The food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and respectful.

Love this place, we keep coming back to it! They have truly authentic Syrian food and it never disappoints!! We almost always order the kibbeh labaniyeh and the mixed grill, and both are consistently delicious every time. I also love all the sides that come with the dishes… the rice with vermicelli is SO good and always feels so so homey. Their mezzeh is also great. We usually get the platter for two, which comes with lots of options to choose from. Our favorites are the tabbouleh, baba ghanouj, tahini, stuffed vine leaves, and muhammara. Yum, yum, yum. This time we also got the lentil soup, which was served with baked bread The service is always friendly and welcoming no matter how busy they are, and they’re almost always busy haha! The atmosphere is lively, the food is consistently good, and it’s one of those places we find ourselves returning to again and again. Will definitely keep coming back!

The food and service are very luxurious, it deserves more.

I was a little disappointed. We came in a big group, and I ordered something that I didn't like, to me it was unbearable and It didn't smell (To me or was not fresh) and taste good or delicious. So, I told them, I'd like to change my dish, instead of being hospitable and proud of their food culture, they asked me to reorder a new dish with a charge on both. As a high-end chef myself, I find it disgraceful and distasteful that a restaurant and kitchen would behave with money first, customer experience last. I ended not ordering a second dish just because I felt scammed and I surely didn't want to support this kind of inhospitable mentality and business. They could have easily changed my dish for free and recommended a dish as I was the only one on the table with the problem. Imagine being invited into a home and then not being attended too. Not a nice experience for my first ever Syrian dinner. So I ended up paying for something that I hated when my experience could have been otherwise.

The food was tasty and the dessert was delicious! I will definitely come back.

Staff was attentive, kind alert and on a distance if that makes sense. Food serving pace was high. My company and I both are not familiar with the Syrian kitchen in particular but with food from different areas around the Mediterranean Sea. Long story short, we enjoyed the different dishes and in particular I thought the lamb was really nice. The accommodate itself is simple and nothing eye catching. I suppose the terrace is a pearl when the weather allows it and certain will contribute to the experience.

It was the perfect restaurant for our stay in Amsterdam! We went there twice because the food was incredibly delicious... we'd go back anytime!

The restaurant has a lovely outdoor seating area. The food was delicious and tasty; we ordered shish kebab and lamb chops. The complimentary tea was also delicious. I loved the restaurant and will definitely return. I hope it maintains this high standard.

Been going here and to the resturant in west for years and the food is amazing but this is the first time I left disappointed. Ordered meze and if you pay 7-10 euro for a dish you should be able to expect it to be more than just two sad tablespoons.. hommous, baba ghanoush.. everything tiny. Cheeky, ungenerous and made it very overpriced. I’ll come back but complain in person if it’s still the same, just didn’t realise the amount vs food was way out of proportion before we left.

Always delicious food and great service! We have been coming to Sham for ages and the food is fantastic; literally everything on the menu is good. Additionally, the service is like you hardly get anywhere anymore. Today we ordered here via Uber. Unfortunately, due to an error by Uber, the wrong order was delivered to us. Although we were unable to get in touch with Uber, Sham was easy to reach. The friendly staff helped us excellently. Although the mistake was on Uber's side, Sham ensured that we still received our food quickly. It tasted delicious, as always. Thanks for the quick and pleasant solution!!

The food was quite nice here, especially the grilled skewers! However while ordering we asked if the two person Maza set would be enough for five people to have a small bite as we just wanted to taste it and the waiter said yes, then when it came out we were surprised by how much food it was. Then when we were paying the bill it said we ordered 2&1/2 Maza sets which cost €100!!! We didn’t even eat most of the Maza anyway. I wish we could have got a refund for the extra Maza since we didn’t even order it, but it really seemed like one of the waiters was still just learning as he also served us a highball with Coca Cola instead of ginger ale.

I was looking for a restaurant in the Docklands area, and I found that little secret place where we were warmly welcomed and got some wonderful and delicious food. One recommendation: try their baklava — outstanding. Sorry no photo Try it!

The first meal we had when visiting Amsterdam. The atmosphere is exotic. The foods are amazingly good! We had the Royal meal which includes everything they offered. Highly recommended!

We just had a lovely lunch here. Food was outstanding, fresh, flavorful and very fast on our table. We were also with our 1 year old daughter and got the best service ever. They had a little box with kids books and toys. It was amazing. I can just recommend this place. Great food, great atmosphere and amazing service!

My first experience eating at a Syrian restaurant. I am here in Amsterdam also for my first time this food was so good and the service provided by Remi was excellent. Would definitely highly recommend eating here. It seems more like a local crowd rather than a generic tourist location. Would definitely be back

We order quite a lot from Sham, the food is authentic! However, it isnt what it used to be. The portions of salad and hummus keep getting smaller with every order which is a shame and its not as fresh. A chicken wrap had 2 pieces of chicken in it the last time which was basically just chewing on bread.

We ended up here because the Google reviews looked so tempting—and we're SO GLAD we did! Finding a parking spot nearby was a bit tricky, but it was worth it. We had the small Sham Deal for €79 for two people and have rarely left a restaurant so incredibly happy! Absolutely delicious and a perfectly balanced meal overall, with a fantastic fresh salad in the middle, incredibly tasty meat, sweet rice, various vegetable dips, and so much more. We can wholeheartedly recommend it!

Ja Sham is amazing! The food is always great and you have divers options, for meat lovers but also vegetarians! Definitely worth a visit! And also, they can easily accomodate big groups, the menus help a lot so you get a bit of everything.

A disrespectful place where there's no respect where a man works. I'm from Utrecht. When I walked in, he didn't welcome me. He told me I had an appointment. When he introduced Les Drinker and my girlfriend, he presented it in a disrespectful way. So I don't recommend it; it's disrespectful.
