Delicious food, great atmosphere, friendly attentive personnel, highly recommend!!!

The food wasn’t good, only the Ayran was nice. Service was bad, and the manager was very rude to both staff and us — totally unprofessional. Also, the prices are too high for what they offer. Very disappointing experience.

Today we had dinner at Sham Oost Restaurant. By the grace of Allah, we were served with outstanding service from the exceptionally talented chef Saif, whose manner was extremely kind and courteous. We were a group of six people. The food was excellent and delicious — the grilled meats were tasty, and the appetizers were varied and flavorful. We enjoyed dessert and tea in the outdoor seating area of the restaurant, in a pleasant open-air atmosphere.

Genuinely amazing food! This is an absolute gem of a spot that is totally worth a visit if you’re anywhere nearby. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is phenomenal!

We had Freekeh and chicken (Dejaj) kebab came with salad and rice. For me Freekeh was the winner! We also had starter, I would say it was average. Followed by tea and sweets. The service was fast and friendly. They also have plenty of outdoor space which is great for summer. Highly recommend this place.

A Syrian restaurant in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam. We went to the restaurant twice, for breakfast and lunch. The portions were excellent and the food was very delicious. The service was excellent from the staff, and the atmosphere was generally very nice. The restaurant has outdoor seating in the front and a wonderful back area overlooking the river. Advance reservations are recommended. I highly recommend trying the restaurant.

Das Restaurant befinder sich an unter einer Brücke an einem Kanal. Leider war das Wetter nicht zum draussen sitzen. Aber auch drinnen ist es sehr nett. Das Personal ist extrem freundlich und effizient. Die Speisekarte ist ziemlich gross und wir brauchten unser Zeit, bis wir da durch waren. Das ganze ist für uns Neulinge nicht ganz einfach. So bestellten wir eine Vorspeise und je eine Hauptspeise. Gebracht wurde alles miteinander. Aber das Essen war herrlich. Hühnerleber und Hünerspiess. Mir 2 Reis, Syrischem Brot und etwas Gemüse. Dazu einen libanesischen Rotwein. Es war ein spannender und lehrreicher Abend

The food was delicious and the service was perfect. We were 9 people and even had too much food, but everything was well eaten. There were many vegetarian dishes and also good vegan options. Of course there were also delicious meat dishes. The location was also beautiful and relaxing. Definitely recommended!

My second visit to the best restaurant in Amsterdam. I really didn't get to take a picture of the food on my first visit. The staff were all wonderful. The food is really delicious. It's worth a visit every time I come.

Amazing service, gave us treats for free, my falafel plate was fresh and delicious and my partner's kebab and rice was delicious. Definite gem, hidden a bit from the view, but a great way to start our time in Amsterdam

Leuke locatie, sfeervol, goede en snelle bediening en het eten is prima. De drankjes waren ook top trouwens. Je kan ook op het terras aan het water zitten. De mezzes en kipspiezen waren echt heerlijk! De specialiteit van de chef en de kebab had ik meer van verwacht. Deze vond ik een beetje flauw, waar ik een smaakbom had verwacht. Ik miste knoflook en peper daarin, dan zou het perfect zijn. Al met al een prima ervaring.

Simply the best. My whole body is awake after the delicious food. The staff is very attentive and the space inside is very cozy and outside has an amazing terrace 😏 They were also very helpful with our gluten free dietary restriction.

The best Arabic restaurant in the Netherlands is characterized by fast service. From my experience, I went to it twice and it was something fantastic and the taste is special. Definitely recommend, have tried many different things and ordered in too. Always great and they’re generous too. For the broke students: order their chicken or kebab wrap, reasonably priced, filling and greaaaattt taste. Dessert are nice too and the location is very cute, especially in summer. Oh and it’s halal for those wondering.

I made a take away order, and the food was very bad as if it was leftovers. Also considering the price. I paid a lot for leftover, stale food. The grill is very dry and hard. The salad is old and it’s sour. I’m not happy with the food.

We hired Sham as a caterer for an iftar at our office. Everyone loved it so much! It was really well organised. Contact went well, we received good advice and agreements were kept. I get hungry again just thinking about it. I have eaten at Sham before, but this experience was also great.

First time eating Syrian food. The food was delicious, and location sparked curiosity. Service let the restaurant down, staff were lacklustre and was stern about the value of the more expensive set menu and had to say no in unison to be provided the a la carte menu.

On a 4 day trip from the UK and the Receptionist at our hotel recommended Sham . We tried it and enjoyed it so much we went twice ! Good food , beautifully presented and friendly staff . We’d 100% recommend

We had reserved a place near the water in time. Were given a place in a corner at the back. Portions of mezze were very small and bowls were filled with lettuce at the bottom of the bowls. The main course Kibbeh did not come and when it came after repeated requests it was also minimal and not really warm. Coffee ordered twice was served from 1 pot. Tiny bakhlava. And I had to continuously ask for everything, otherwise it wouldn't come. The restaurant was a quarter full so that wasn't the problem. Letdown and disappointment. Sham west was much better and friendlier.

This place was recommended to me by a couple of people, but I didn’t find it that special, unfortunately. Staff was lovely, true, so as the atmosphere. But food was just okay/good. We had a royal menu, consisting of various starters and mains. The best part were meet skewers - I e liked all of them. Meze were average, lacking interesting spices/flavours. But what disappointed me as that they didn’t serve fresh pita bread. It would be so much better! Semolina cake with milky cream was delicious. I can recommend the place but for skewers and desserts only.

Sham Oost is a really nice restaurant with fresh and delicious food. That makes it a busy and somewhat noisy place. We were eating quickly. Shame is certainly not a cheap place to eat and they do offer discounts but that is only for lunch. One point of criticism is that the prices on the menu are higher than the menu shown online on the website. And the Syrian tea on the house that was offered after paying the bill no longer came, so we left. Nevertheless, I will definitely eat at Sham Oost again.

The atmosphere and service were good, and the tabbouleh was delicious. Unfortunately the Syrian bread was not warm and the Syrian coffee was too watery. We also found the kebab a bit too dry and salty.

A year ago I discovered Sham, and since then it has been a place I enjoy again and again. The dishes are not only delicious but also beautifully presented, and the staff always exudes friendliness and hospitality. Sometimes I read that some criticize the prices or dishes, but I believe that Sham shows how Syrian cuisine deserves to be appreciated. It would be nice to see an even wider choice of traditional dishes in the future, to complete the experience. Thanks to the team for a year full of taste and beautiful moments. Good luck.
