Silk Road Kebab House (Uyghur restaurant ) in Indische Buurt Oost

A nice, well-kept restaurant with a fairly limited menu, but quite high prices. This restaurant has changed its name from “Silk Road Kebab House” to “My_Etles.” The dumplings were very good, and so were the noodles, meat pastries, and meat skewers. Fast and attentive service, but prices are a bit high. The portions are generous. Worth trying! 🙂

Unfortunately, my first-ever public review will be one with a low rating, as it's necessary to alert former customers that the original Silk Road Uyghur Kebab house is permanently closed. My review below is for the new restaurant named My_Etles, which has taken over the original restaurant space on Insulindeweg. The new operators said that they are unrelated to the old owners, even though they appear to be leveraging the existing Google Business presence of the old restaurant. I was a regular at the original kebab restaurant for their consistently tasty food. Was surprised to see a new interior and crew, but decided to give this new joint a try anyway. The following is an honest review of my experience: Food: The chicken dish was tasty, though there was nothing particularly special or memorable about the flavours. The roasted lamb, a Uyghur speciality, was very disappointing. It was tough and rubbery in the parts that were cooked. Some parts were raw, and there were big chunks of inedible gristle and bits of raw white fat that oozed out, which made my dining group and me somewhat nauseous after just a bite. The meat was unseasoned, and we were given a chilli sprinkle, which added some much-needed flavour to the dish. Considering flavour, portion size, and quality of the meat, this was a very over-priced dish at 60euros, and we don't think the full portion served was a kilo as claimed by the staff. Other dishes were average. Service: The younger lady was earnest and friendly in providing service throughout the meal. This was a plus point. Atmosphere: The new establishment had a makeover and looked fresh and clean for a comfortable dining environment. But the old restaurant was ok to start with, just dimmer and slightly dated. Price/value: Considering the very poor lamb (taste and portion size), the new place is expensive and offers low value for money. Yes, it's Amsterdam prices, but for that amount spent, it was not a satisfying meal. I'm usualyl happy to give new eateries a second chance when it may still be undergoing teething issues, but considering the high price tag, I won't be revisiting. Hopefully, the new owners find their footing. Still, old customers need to be aware that when they enter the same space, they may not receive the same dishes and flavours they were accustomed to from the previous owners.

This restaurant has been renovated and renamed My_Etles Uyghur Restaurant!! Remember to search the new name! The Da Pan Chicken is very delicious and authentic, the boss lady is very enthusiastic and the new decoration is also very beautiful! Here has been renovated into a new restaurant called My_Etles Uyghur Restaurant (please search this new name!!!), and operate normally. Here provides very authentic Uyghur dishes (obviously the owner is Uyghur!).I tried the Da Pan chicken this time and very satisfied. The owner is very friendly and enthusiastic, food is extremely delicious, and the new decoration is really nice. Also the problem of have to pay in cash mentioned in the previous comments does not exist, card can be used normally here.

Now there is a new Xinjiang restaurant called Atles Uyghur Restaurant, the special fried chicken is super delicious 😋, and the environment is also very good 👍

The service was really disappointing today. They didn’t inform us that certain dishes were unavailable, and the overall taste has noticeably declined. For example, the Polo (手抓饭) no longer had the original lamb — they replaced it with kebab meat without telling us. We drove all the way here, only to be let down. Really disappointed.

Be careful: THIS RESTAURANT MAY FORCE YOU PAY IN CASH. I know it’s kinda common that restaurants like this charging cash to avoid tax but it’s improper to make trouble for your clients without cash to do that. What was worse, after we withdrew cash from ATM, they made trouble again when make changes by attempting to give restaurant-price drinks as “changes”. Food was good though but the poor integrity from the owner ruined the experience.

Visited last week and was very positively surprised! Why didn't I know about it before. this restaurant? Delicious dishes from manti to noodles and kebab, all delicious and so flavorful! The employees are also super sweet and helpful. We will definitely come back more often!

Xinjiang people tell you that this restaurant is very authentic. The Dingding fried noodles and fried barbecue are delicious.

The large plate of chicken was delicious, and the mixed noodles were also very good. I didn't finish it in the end because the portion was quite large. A large plate of chicken is enough for two people.

It's that the Uyghurs are having such a hard time, otherwise I would have given lower. Chicken dishes are full of sharp pieces of bone that can tear your tongue open. Very high prices, dishes don't come at the same time, slow service. Whether the ATM is broken depends on the nationality of the customer. Service is friendly and it is interesting to taste Uyghur cuisine, but once is enough.

This large plate of chicken is so delicious. It has the flavor of roasted meat and is very tender. I was shocked that the small portion was so big! ! ! The mutton kebabs are also really good, each piece is super big! If you go there with fewer people, be sure to take your time and order food. The boss seems to be from an ethnic minority and doesn’t speak Chinese very well, hahahahaha

Very delicious and authentic food, especially the wide noodles and big dish chicken are my favourite. Not so many places in Europe have such great Uyghur food. The staff are very friendly and humorous, we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Will come back when we visit Amsterdam again

The food was absolutely fantastic and real Xinjiang food. The spicy chicken with potatoes was great and the lamb sticks too. However it was overpriced, even if the portions were massive.

Good location, easy access through Train or tram from central station, clean and nice atmosphere, excellent service, friendly. Food quality was super delicious. I higly recommend to everyone to go and ear uyghur meals. And the people were very gentle. Thnk you 🙏🏼

Chicken was shredded with the bones. Or they splintered from overcooking it into so tiny pieces that I almost broke a tooth with every bite. Same sauce for all the meals. Prices were not cheap at all. Great service though, hence the extra star.

This is obviously an Asian hate restaurant. Only can pay by transferring money to their bank card. We are traveling here from England and they are even requiring us to pay in £ pounds cash. 😅🤷‍♀️

At the end of the meal he told us it was cash only and pretended the cash register was broken.

When we paid, we were told that we could only pay by transfer and cash, but we were traveling and didn’t have local cards at all. When we went to other stores, we swiped the card directly, and it said on the door that Alipay was accepted. It didn’t work, so we had to pay in cash or transfer. Fortunately, the store A few well-meaning local international students asked them about the money they paid in euros, but this restaurant was a no-brainer, and the food was just like that and was also suspected of racial discrimination (after reading other reviews, I realized that the broken POS machine is their old routine. Important: This situation only applies to those with Asian faces and speaking Mandarin)

Food was delicious! And the staff is super friendly and cooperative. Feels like you are not in NL and a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Every time I miss the noodles from my hometown, I have to come here for a meal. The noodles they make taste just like those from my hometown, making this my favorite noodle shop in Amsterdam. The grilled meat is excellent too!

Today I ate here for the first time and I'm so disappointed that I didn't encounter this place before, because I really enjoyed it here. Do you like spicy? Then I recommend the spicy noodles, I immediately feel hungry again at the mention of this dish. They are also very friendly people and it is well priced (15€). All in all, do yourself a favor and introduce yourself to this place. I will undoubtedly come here again

Food taste is just perfect 10/10

I previously rated here 5 stars because the food was excellent and I liked the service. However, I revisited this place last night with my friend and it was absolutely disappointing. Besides the fact the food arrived after a long wait, and it was incomplete, but when we wanted to pay, they said their card machine was not working. They told us to go to an ATM nearby and get the money. When I came back from the ATM they just remembered they didn’t added one more item to the bill; after i refused to pay the extra and told them to give me their bank account so i can send it there, they turned on their card machine and suddenly, the same machine started working! What a dishonest and pathetic behavior from a business.

Da ich halbe Mongole und halbe Tatar bin, haben wir Essensähnlichkeit mit der Uyghur. Dort werden das Essen traditionell vorbereitet und auch zubereitet. Sehr lecker! Tipp: Milchtee sollt man salzig trinken, so schmeckt es am besten😊

We loved the food, the dumplings stuffing was not great but the main course was excellent. The chicken big plate was yummy, more than enough for 3. He added extra noodles upon request. The server was very friendly and explained the whole menu.

It’s an incredible place with amazing food. Service was good too, prices reasonable, although samsa is probably a bit overpriced. Must try: lagman, of course! It’s delicious! Bonus point: they have a cute little corner for children to play, such a gem for parents with little kids!

Prima gegeten, verschillende gerechten besteld. Alle gerechten waren goed op smaak gebracht. Ik vond het gerecht met tofu erg lekker en de zoete kip, neem daar gewone rijst bij en je hebt een heerlijke maaltijd. Mocht je nog eten overhouden, géén probleem. Je krijgt het mee in bakjes. Bediening is snel, vriendelijk en mocht je vragen hebben dan helpen ze je graag. Locatie is top, zicht over het water, buitenterras, interieur ziet er goed uit, sfeer is relaxed. Divers publiek, jong en oud, toeristen, gezinnen en stelletjes. Daarnaast heb je ook de gelegenheid om het gebed te verrichten, dat vond ik een aangename verrassing. De gebedskleden staan i.i.g. klaar. Al met al gewoon een leuke spot, ook om even een drankje te doen of toetje. 👍

Never a disappointment! Have been here often. Uyghur food which is different than "usual" Chinese food. Also have good grilled meat prepared on charcoal (not in the phots this tome) The restaurant has now a new address with a bigger and more moderen location. Food has remained the same.

I love visiting the Silk Road Kebab House. Uighur food at its finest. The laghman dishes are so flavoursome and come with hand pulled noodles. Kebabs are fired fresh on the grill and the rose tea makes the whole experience so cosy. The staff are always so friendly and it's situated in Oost so perfect for dinner in a quieter area of the city. Don't forget to order the dumplings!

Genoten! Als je van de keuken (en vooral lamsvlees) houdt een absolute aanrader. En ze hebben een kleine keuken en beperkt personeel, dus als je haast hebt kies dan een rustige dag cq. tijdstip uit. De gerechten zijn het lekkerst op het moment dat het wordt opgediend; ik zou daarom niet kiezen voor bezorging. Mensen die lage scores geven snappen het domweg niet, die moeten hun heil zoeken bij standaard meuk.

Eten: is lekker maar ook weer niet heel bijzonder. De dumplings (Uyghur Manta) zijn groot en goedgevuld, een aanrader. Gevuld met lamsvlees of pompoen gemengd met wat lamsvlees. Je hebt ook gekookte dumplings (Tugre) maar die heb ik niet gegeten omdat de eigenaresse zei dat de gestoomde lekkerder zijn :-). De Zis Kebab is lekker 5 lamsvleesspiesjes van de bbq. De Goshluk Laghman (noodles met groente en zwarte paddenstoelen)waar het Parool zo enthousiast over was vonden wij lekker maar niet heel bijzonder. Bediening: mensen zijn erg vriendelijk en ook eerlijk. Ik vroeg of de niertjes lekker waren maar die werden mij afgeraden. Sfeer: de inrichting is zeer eenvoudig, wat je wel meer in dit soort Kebab zaken ziet. Ik heb wat fofo's van de kaart erbij gedaan maar ze zijn wel een beetje wazig kwam ik achter. Eet smakelijk

炒米粉非常非常棒，大盘鸡也很不错。炒烤肉和烤羊肉串可以说是阿姆烧烤天花板了，价格也非常非常亲民，适合聚餐一大群人一起去吃。

Goed gevulde porties. Mijn favoriete zijn de homemade laghman en tugre!!! Ik heb ook lanzhou noodles geprobeerd maar niks is zo lekkerder dan de eten hier.

It's a medium-sized establishment, so there's nothing fancy schmantzy about it, but that doesn't mean it was a great experience. To begin, I must say that the staff was exceptionally kind and helpful. It was also very thoughtful of them to package up the leftovers (yeah, I ordered a lot for 2 people). In addition, you receive filling portions for the price you pay, which I believe is reasonable. And finally, the food itself ranged from decent to explosively delectable; see above for rating. A first taste of laghman will convince you why you've been missing out smth in life. They create it from scratch, and their superior craftsmanship is clearly visible in the laghman you get. The spicy rice noodles and kebab, on the other hand, were exceptional, and so were the incredibly large serving sizes. There was only one letdown, and that was the polo. I was anticipating a larger portion with chunks of meat on the bone, caramelized onions, and plums in the polo; I hope this feedback will be used to improve your dish. I will definitely return to this restaurant and recommend it to anyone interested in Uyghur cuisine!

A small, cantine like place serving central Asian food. I had the lamb kebabs which were delicious due to the tender meat and spices. The Laghman I had as a main dish was equally great, dunno what kinda aromas they use but it was perfect. Service provided by the staff was friendly and speedy. It's best to make a reservation as it's easily full house there. Recommended.

Heerlijk gegeten met de smaak van Centraal Azië. Lekker gekruid met een mix van Turks en Chinees. Super aardige familie die het restaurant runt, ze leggen dingen uit over het eten en kunnen het wat pittiger maken als dat je voorkeur heeft. Vooral de verse noedels en de kebab spiezen zijn echt een aanrader en vergeet niet de rozenthee!
