Best 13,50€ I’ve ever spent… huge amount of food, very unique, better than neighboring FLFL

Unfortunately, my visit to this restaurant was very disappointing. The staff and management came across as unusually rude and dismissive, which made the overall atmosphere uncomfortable. It felt as though they were relying on the steady foot traffic of the historic center rather than offering respectful or attentive customer service. During our meal, a staff member approached our table and began speaking to us in a lecturing, confrontational way (just because we asked for utensils). The situation escalated to the point where the person became visibly angry, overstepped all the moral and physical boundaries, and ultimately screamed at us to leave. This was a shocking and upsetting experience, especially considering we were simply trying to enjoy our meal as other guests in this cafe. The whole day was ruined. As for the food, it was quite mediocre—certainly not worth the price point. Given the location, I expected better quality and a more welcoming experience. After my visit, I noticed several other reviews echoing similar concerns, particularly regarding the staff’s attitude. Based on my experience, I would recommend choosing another place if possible. There are many nearby restaurants that offer better service and value. I’m personally never going back to this place again!

I have piercings and heavy makeup so I was not let inside. Other than me everyone else was let in. They were rude about it too. Food was okay. They make nice Turkish food.

If I could give less than one star, I would. This place should not be operating in the historic center or anywhere. The owner and staff were shockingly rude, arrogant and completely unable to communicate with customers. Instead of trying to understand a simple misunderstanding, the owner approached us with an aggressive and condescending attitude, lectured us on what we supposedly did wrong and showed absolutely NO respect for physical boundaries, even touching my arm and shoulder! When we tried to explain our side, he became angry and kicked us out, even though we had already paid and were in the middle of eating. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable. Judging by the many other negative reviews, this is clearly an ongoing issue that the management chooses to ignore. AVOID this place at all costs.

One of the worst service experiences ever. They didn't properly explain our options (take away vs. eating at the table) and then acted like we did something wrong when we asked for a plate. Unbelievable. They completely ruined our mood with their bad attitude. The food was okay, but not worth the terrible service.

A delicious meal for 2 people for €70. However, we couldn't finish it all, even with two adults and an 8-year-old child. Don't expect a lot of vegetables and fries; it's all about the meat. Mmm. The price and quality are excellent! It was very busy, but we still managed to get a table. Unfortunately, sitting by the door is less pleasant when it's colder, as the outside door was open. Otherwise, it was perfect.

Big portion. Friendly staff. Quite good taste but not like the original Greek gyros. The meat was very small pieces and in the bowl several vegs like zucchini and carrots and cabbage which are not contained in the original Greek gyros. Generally good.

It was busy, and it's understandable that you can't provide the service you'd so much like, but this was just awful. We had two main people who made it an unpleasant experience, hereinafter referred to as the bossy and the angry one. My girlfriend is half Greek, so she could hear parts of what they were saying. We had ordered tasty appetizers and a large menu for two. As mentioned, it was busy, and the bossy and angry one visibly reacted poorly to the crowd and snapped at the other staff. The appetizer arrived quickly and tasted quite good, while the main course arrived quite a bit later and looked good. The bossy man served us but barely made any contact. When we realized our menu had chicken instead of steak and we asked, he simply said, "No, that's just steak," and quickly walked away. Then he made contact with the angry one. They laughed together, looked at us, and quickly moved on. We thought, never mind, because it tasted fine otherwise... but it was strange. Then our tzatziki was gone, so we tried to order more. We were sitting near the kitchen, and both men frequently walked past us, visibly ignoring us. When we finally sat down clearly and with our hands up, we briefly interacted with the angry man. He looked at us briefly. I indicated that the tzatziki was gone, and he grabbed the container from the table, said nothing but looked strange, and walked to the kitchen. I waited a bit before eating, but the tzatziki didn't arrive. I didn't feel like waiting any longer, as we were almost at the end of our meal. The atmosphere from both men was really unpleasant. When we finished it, my girlfriend went to the bathroom, and I'd had enough of it there. I thought, "I'll pay quickly so we can leave." When I went to pay, I first walked up to the angry man and told him I hadn't received the tzatziki. He immediately printed out the receipt without me even mentioning I wanted to pay, shoved it in my hand, and tried to walk away. The receipt did show extra tzatziki, but I reiterated that I hadn't received it and that I wasn't going to pay for it. He said something, but I don't know what. He made strange hand gestures at me and angrily walked away again. I then went to the cash register and explained to the woman, clearly suffering from the bossy and angry man, that I wanted to pay, but that the extra tzatziki had to be deducted from the receipt. She understood and took care of it. After that, we quickly left. I'll never go to this restaurant again.

We went there to ask for souvlaki. The person that took our order did not even listen to us and at the end gave us a portion of gyros. This person had an attitude throughout our interaction. There are many other places where you can try good Greek food without these unpleasant staff.

I took one coffee take away ( Freddo Espresso). The coffee was Very bad. It was burned and watery. I’m from Greece and I know how a Freddo should taste. The price of it 5.80€. A joke.

My mind was blown. Their grilled octopus starter was bursting with flavour and the meat was very tender. Grilled vegetables dish and a selection of dips with bread also did not disappoint. Nice decor and a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting.

I wish we had left when the waiter said that they only had still water, no tap water. the stillwater for two small glasses cost €8.70. the two, at best, medium sized Greek salads cost 31 euros. the tomatoes in it were overripe and the salad was bland and tasteless. it had oil, that was the main flavour, no seasoning whatsoever. the 2 pieces of feta cheese were small. do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. I wish we had!!

Greek restaurant in the city center. A large space where it's easy to find a table, even without a reservation. You'll find traditional dishes or classics like salmon or grilled meats.

Unmotivated staff and mediocre food. A real shame.

After sitting down and ordering, the bill is thrust under our noses. A little surprised, you notice that we usually pay after eating. The owner tells us in a tone that is unanswerable that this is the custom in all the restaurants in the area. I pay and he then slaps me on the shoulder, telling me in a contemptuous tone that I can eat elsewhere to see what he says. The food is average. The prices are very high. Restaurant for transient customers. Avoid!

We were greeted by the owners with our children in a deplorable manner. We were asked to order at the snack bar across the street, which they own. Not all the dishes were available there, and we were asked to order inside. Once seated, there was no menu, no drinks offered. I had to ask for the plates and cutlery, which were served by the owner with contempt. It's a shame because the food is good.

A good Greek restaurant, with all the specialties you'd expect. We had the mixed starters and gyros platter. Everything was very good, and they even offered us an extra meat dish.

Sirtaki: What an awesome authentic Greek food and friendly staff! Mousaka, mixed grill, and the Greek coffee were really delicious and true to the original taste - with an exception for the baklava: why ruin it with caramel sauce and slagroom to meet Dutch expectations? The only issue was the physical atmoshpere: the place was a bit too packed with so many side by side tables with little free space; hence the adorable Greek music was barely audible until most of the guests were gone. It would be really top if the number of tables were a little more dispersed as people speak rather loudly here and it creates a huge noise alongside the music. It would obviously help the movement and interaction of the waiters greatly as well. Thank you for the amazing food and friendly service, again. Will definitely come back.

The service was very friendly. The gyro was generous, but there were only a very limited number of fries on the plate. It wasn't a huge hit in terms of taste... :-)

The salad we were served was full of brown spots – absolutely unappetizing. When we told the server this, the only response was a rude one: that was "normal" and we should just pick out the brown spots. That's not what fresh iceberg lettuce looks like – not at home and certainly not in a good restaurant. Instead of an apology and an offer of a replacement, we were treated rudely. Very disappointing and unprofessional.

The service was very unfriendly and seemed annoyed. The food wasn't particularly impressive either. There were far too many onions, and the meat was very dry. We had to wait almost 45 minutes for our food. Overall, not recommended.

Not even close to the known greek food. The bread was too dry, the giros chicken and pork were also dry with no taste in them.

Food is passable, but the service is not good at all. The waiter was very indifferent and seemingly annoyed while taking the order, and also failed to bring what I ordered (alcohol free beer). And then they have audacity to tell me it’s my fault I did not correct them. How am I supposed to know what is in the glass?

Authentic and delicious Greek food

It's getting really outrageous in this place. 7 euros for a bottle of water, ridiculous. This used to be a nice place, but now it seems like a tourist trap.

I've been going there my whole life, so a very long time. I've always had a very positive experience with the store. But now I'm really starting to get annoyed by the steep price increases and the smaller portions. Every time I go, it's gotten more expensive. Unfortunately, it's not proportional anymore.

Good Greek food, nice staff- they accommodated a quick turn around! We tried the spanakopita Eggplant dip and meatballs in red sauce. All tasty, reasonably priced and kept us warm and dry. The space is cozy.

Totally unfriendly staff. The meal for two «Dimitri» is not worth €76. The ribeye steak was absolutely tasteless and the chicken was oversalted. The Aperol spritz was tasteless and tasted like stagnant water from a bad pipe.

It was a cozy restaurant. The food was very tasty and also divided in good portions. You had a beautiful view of the cathedral. We also had the sweetest waitress ever, which made the experience complete.

In the small restaurant opposite Sirtaki (it belongs to restaurant Sirtaki) Ordered falafel. It was very soft falafel with some red and green in it: it looked like a porridge of potato starch. It was edible but it was not falafel! I asked for the ingredients but they couldn't explain it: language problem there... Quite lax of them. It's not much trouble to even take the box of falafel and show the list of ingredients! Too bad! I've ordered delicious things there for years...

Worst service I have received in Utrecht. The female staff member with the black hair and glasses (didn’t catch her name) was so rude and aggressive! Snatching the menu from my hands upon arrival and being very passive aggressive in her responses. Yuck. We had planned to stay for dinner and drinks but immediately left. I would never support a business that treats their (potential) customers like that.

The food is good but the prices are a bit exaggerated. We asked for still water, we got a bottle of water without a label for 7.50 euros! Nevertheless, good service and good location.

It was a bit confusing at first being told to order inside the little shop where food was being served and then to take a seat. The little shop couldn't hold the people ordering so we were shooed out then the card machine was having issues with the customer before us. However, the food looked great so we persevered. I'm glad we did as we all ordered pitta bowls which were packed full of whatever we'd ordered be that freshly grilled veggies, halloumi or chicken. It was delicious. We also shared a spanokipita - absolutely fantastic taste but little greasy. We actually ate in the restaurant opposite as it was a bit chilly and there was so much space inside. I bet it's a lovely place for an authentic Greek evening meal. We left full and would definitely recommend!

We went to eat, the waitress was annoyed. Maybe because people didn't receive their order as ordered.

Worthless. I ordered lamb with rice. It turned out to contain a lot of cheese, even though it is not on the menu. Since I don't like cheese, I certainly wouldn't have ordered that. The lady who served us acted like I was stupid when I said that it was useful to mention such a dominant flavor on the menu. She said I would get another lamb dish, but after a few minutes I was just given the same plate back. So you are also being deceived. When I calmly commented on this, she said that she was going to leave the service to another colleague because she was high in emotion. Apparently making a comment quietly is no longer allowed. I will definitely not come back here again. That's not how you treat people.

As a Greek, I absolutely advice you to stay away from this place. Rude staff, full of irony and really dismissive. I ordered chicken souvlaki in a pita and they filled it with gyros leftovers instead. Also mocked me about not knowing what a real souvlaki is. One star is too much for this outrageous behavior.

The staff was very rude and they look like they don’t want to work there. Last time we went everything was good but I guess they don’t care about the customers any more. You can fins many other better places.

I had an absolutely beautiful salad, full of flavour and different bits and pieces. The Tarama was one of the best I have had as was the feta dip. The chicken gyro was also very tasty with a generous portion of everything. Really really nice lunch option

I live near the restaurant, facing the back of it towards the hofdje. I cannot even open my window because they have a horrible ventilation system and all the kitchen smells go directly into my house, which is a complete nightmare for summer. Every now and then they do karaoke nights on Tuesday and Thursday from 00.00 until 3 or 4 in te morning and we cannot sleep and be able to do our work at the next day. Drunk costumers go to the terrace screaming as they are in a park waking up the entire neighborhood! I once tried the food and it is not nice at all, greasy, only meat (I am a vegetarian) after that time I got a horrible stomach pain and couldn’t stand up for a whole day. Does anyone know how I can report this to the police and even the sanitary department? (I have seen rats going our of the kitchen ventilation system…)

Very nice proprietor (distinguished singer of Greek folk songs), very authentic, tasty food, good house wine and a supreme location in the heart of the old city.

Of course a real hotspot if you can eat Greek food so close to the Cathedral! A number of Greek dishes are painted in chalk on the outside wall, giving you a bit of a family, village feeling. Inside, this lovely hut appears to have two serious floors, so you can almost always find a spot! Also on Friday evening 1930!. The service is smooth but businesslike. On to the food. The tzatziki was delicious, fresh, cool, not too knoffy and enough. We ordered bread with it because it was really good! The Mousaka, however, was a bit less. 24.50 is quite expensive in our opinion for this not too complicated typical Greek dish. For this you get a dish with a piece of max 15×15 cm. The taste was also a bit disappointing. Quite a lot of mashed potato flavor and we missed a bit of that excess that you hope for at a real Greek restaurant compared to a vegetable package Mousaka from de Appie. Too bad... The house wine, which could have made up for some things, tasted a bit bitter and cheap. Although the size was impressive for this location, it was also somewhat reminiscent of those ramp pizzerias around Leidseplein; fast turnaround of tables and mediocre food. The price just wasn't quite right in this story, it was just too high... summary; food ok but price a bit on the high side, expectations are a bit higher than what you ultimately get.

Niet voor herhaling vatbaar. Kipgyros was vet, niet opgegeten, geen zout op de patat, tafelgenoot kreeg verkeerde bestelling, heeft ze niks van gezegd want anders weer lang moeten wachten. Personeel wat alleen Engels spreekt, na half 10 kon je niets meer bestellen, bij betalen kwamen de keukenmedewerkers al met de volle kliko’s de zaak door, terwijl er nog gasten zitten. En vooral ook heel duur! €4,25 voor een cola, €9,50 voor een dessert.

Not worth repeating. Chicken gyros was greasy, not eaten, no salt on the fries, tablemate got the wrong order, she didn't say anything because otherwise we would have to wait a long time again. Staff who only speak English, after half past 10 you couldn't order anything anymore, when paying the kitchen staff came through the store with the full bins, while there were still guests. And above all very expensive! €4.25 for a coke, €9.50 for a dessert.

I recently had the opportunity to visit this restaurant, and I must say that overall, the experience was very positive. The atmosphere is welcoming and the service was attentive and friendly. The menu offers a wide variety, which is always a plus. However, if I had to make a recommendation, I wouldn't include the fish on my list of favorites. Although the other dishes I tried were delicious, the fish didn't meet my expectations. Despite this, I would definitely eat here again. The quality of the other dishes and the friendly staff more than make up for the experience. If you're looking for a place to enjoy a good meal, this restaurant is definitely a good choice, as long as you're not inclined to choose fish.

Today we went for dinner as usual before or after a football match. Wow, what a disappointment today... after the main course they were ordered to sit somewhere else so they could help more customers. If the question had been asked differently, we might have taken it up for consideration. But now I left and paid the bill. Unfortunately, it's really starting to look like a food shed.

The waitress was incredibly rude. I have never been treated like that before. Please read other reviews as it seems this is happening to many people. Prices are also higher than advertised and the quality is poor.

The delicious smells from the Greek stall opposite this restaurant made us hungry. We entered this restaurant and we have no regrets. Nice meal. Vine leaves and saganaki were delicious. Moussaka and gyros excellent.
