3.5 half stars would actually be my preference. The meat from the mixed grill was perfectly prepared, the rice was okay, the fries mediocre. The salad was okay. Moussaka was tasty but not exceptional, the gyros was tender. We had bread with quite a few different spreads or dips. The desserts were generous portions. It was incredibly hot inside, some of the service was very pleasant, others clumsy. The food was, uh, boring, but decent. Personally, I wouldn't go there again. Unfortunately, it doesn't have anything that would make me come back.

This was a truly excellent social deal! A very friendly welcome, a nicely decorated restaurant, delicious food, and prompt service with time for a friendly chat. I'll definitely be returning to this restaurant. A tiny bowl of tzatziki with the baguette would have made it perfect.

I ate here yesterday with my husband and our three children. We hadn't made a reservation, but luckily there was still room for five. The children all had gyros, and my husband had a mixed grill with three types of meat. The gyros were missing, which you'd expect from a mixed grill. The meat, however, was very tender and delicious. I had the salmon, which was delicious with a nice sauce. There were a few potatoes, but the vegetables were fine. The dessert afterward was also very tasty. The only downside was a large, noisy group in the restaurant, but that can happen, of course. All in all, the five of us had a great meal.

I always have a good time here. The food is nice and the staff is even nicer. They work hard and are always smiling and ready to help. I just spent a wonderful Christmas Eve here. Special thanks to Antonia (and the other kind lady who’s name I didn’t catch) 🌸

A cosy greek restaurant situated on the oud gracht in one of the old cellers. Good value dishes, generous portions and service was fast, polite and efficient. Recommend the fish options. A good range of beers and wines. Very popular on a Friday night so would recommend making a reservation. Seating for groups of 2-10.

We had a small table with high stools. The food was good. We hadn't made a reservation, and it was very busy. We really can't complain about the seating. It was 5:30 PM and packed.

What an unforgettable experience we had at Taverna in Utrecht, highly recommended! As soon as we walked in, the unique atmosphere of this Greek establishment felt like a warm blanket wrapped around our hungry bodies. The staff (especially Saliha) sensed our every need, as if we were telepathically connected. The chef's wine expertise and culinary skills are beyond words. We won't soon forget this meal! If you could give more than 5 stars, it would definitely be 11. So, if you're ever in Utrecht, you absolutely must fill your stomach here! ❤️😍

Unexpectedly very satisfying. I tried the Greek 6-course sampler menu for about 20 euros, and it was delicious. The burger was good, and the atmosphere was great.

We're from Friesland and were visiting Utrecht. That's how we stumbled upon Taverna. Taverna is an exceptionally good restaurant with excellent service. You can tell it's a family business; you can feel the passion and love that goes into it. You don't see that much these days... If we're ever back in Utrecht, we'll definitely be back.

Despite the crowds on the terrace, we had a great meal inside.

The menu is very poor. There is absolutely nothing to order. Only the name remains of Greek dishes. It's a shame. Out of respect, I only took a beer and had to look for another place.

Enjoyed a delicious meal with a view of the Oude Gracht

Giving high ratings to the food here would be disrespectful to Greek cuisine. It was the first time I saw a Greek taverna that didn’t even know the brand of the ouzo they were selling. We ordered the tapas platter (chef’s selection). Since when did canned tuna become a Greek meze? 😃😃😃 The service staff was friendly. The location is already nice.

The staff were very kind and friendly and the location is very cozy, but unfortunately all of these do not make up for the low quality of the food. We love authentic Greek food and have been in Greece many times, however none of the things we ordered were delicious. The hot and cold appetisers plate wasn’t good, calamari wasn’t crispy as it should be, and the prawns were served along with very watery, poorly cooked vegetables. The prices are very expensive for the food we got.

Had little to do with Greek. Dry tasteless meat between a shoarma bread…. The tzatziki we ordered with it, I think we had to spoon it up because it was served without bread. Unimaginative boring food…

Is deteriorating, we come here more often but the staff has deteriorated. Why is an order taken in English? She didn't speak Dutch, which was a shame and this also caused miscommunication because we didn't get what we ordered. But we come more often so it is still accepted. Then a table of drunken guests who were very noisy, indicated this to the waiter, but he did little or nothing. Had to look for the manager myself, but by then the tone had already been set and the evening was ruined. It's sad that you are not heard as a customer. The manager did offer another table but this was too late because nothing had been done about it before. Too bad, but as a Utrecht resident we don't come here anymore.

Gaat achteruit, we komen hier vaker maar het personeel is achteruit gegaan.Waarom word er een bestelling in het engels opgenomen?? Ze sprak geen nederlands beetje jammer en hierdoor ook miscommunicatie want we kregen niet wat we besteld hadden. Maar goed we komen vaker dus is nog geaccepteerd. Vervolgens een tafel dronken gasten die enorm luidruchtig waren, dit aangegeven bij de bediening maar deze deed niks tot weinig. Moest zelf de manager zoeken maar toen was de toon al gezet en de avond verpest. Toch triest dat je niet gehoord word als klant. Manager bood wel een andere tafel aan maar dit was al te laat omdat er eerder niks aan gedaan werd. Jammer maar als utrechter komen we hier niet meer.

Vale decir que estuvimos una hora justa para que nos sirvieran, y fue así porque nos quejamos. Vista la cocina a la vista sería improbable que pudieran darle licencia en otro país. Comida correcta, sin más. Precio desproporcionado,pagas el lugar. Servicio sin interés, mejor dicho, interés monetario

The ambience and the food were great. The selection on the menu is poor, but doable. Only the service was unfriendly, listless, unfocused and not very friendly towards tourists.

1 van de betere Griekse Restaurants in Utrecht centrum. Mooi interieur en gezellige zitjes. Ook aan de gracht leuk om buiten te zitten. Gerechten zijn niet de duurste en smaken voortreffelijk. Echter geen gratis welkomst ouzo of zoals meestal gebruikelijk gratis afsluitsborrel. Na opgave voorgerecht en hoofdgerecht al snel bijna gezamenlijk aangeboden. ? Geen rust tussen voor en hoofdgerecht! Gelukkig geen desert al besteld anders ook gelijk gekregen. Dit dus allemaal veel te snel op tafel geserveerd! Irish Coffe was matig bakje! 2 slokjes en op! Zelf gevraagd om gratis afsluitsborrel na de meevallende rekening al had betaald l. Meevaller dat we alsnog 2 gratis ouzo kregen!

Nog nooit in 62 jaar zoiets meegemaakt! Het eten was prima, daar echt niets negatiefs over. Echter, het personeel is zeker 200 tot 300 keer langs onze tafel gelopen. Soms zelfs in colonne van 5 à 6 man.. niet overdreven. Vreselijk irritant en belachelijk overdreven. Het leek wel een rattenplaag. Ik was opgelucht toen we weer buiten stonden. Nog nooit zo onrustig gegeten.

We spontaneously ended up in the Taverna restaurant. It's in such a wonderful location, right on the canal. The contact was friendly, the drinks and the appetizer came really quickly. The main course was a long time coming. Since we were sitting outside, right by the water, and it was getting cooler and colder, we asked for a table inside. It was possible after a short time. Now we realized why it took so long for the main course. It was packed and if you've never been to Utrecht you wouldn't know how deep these canal houses are!!! It didn't take long until the main course arrived. It was really, really good and worth the wait!!!

This Greek restaurant is located in a great location in Utrecht, on the Oudegracht. The staff is friendly and the food is well seasoned and not too greasy. The beer is also very tasty.

The restaurant has very respectful staff, they were polite all the time I was there. As a greek, the food was exactly how we make it in my Hometown. The atmosphere was very warm and the music was great. 5/5 from me, if you like traditional greek cuisine, this is the place.

Me and my friend had dinner here a friday night, it wasnt busy at all which was nice and the atmosphere was very cozy. The staff were really kind and helpful! The food was fine, I had the giros and it was a bit plain but alright, we also had the pasta which was really good so 4 stars :)

Been several times now, this time with a large group. The restaurant has a lovely cozy atmosphere. This applies whether it is very quiet or, like last week, completely full. Service was fast and very good, we were not short of anything. The quality of the food was good and there was nothing to complain about.

Network restaurant in the canals, friendly service, good food

Not only was one of the staff members really rude, but another main course that was not ordered (36.50€) was added to my bill and I only noticed once I got home. We were a big group who reserved tables weeks ago and they didn’t even manage to sit us together properly.

Cozy restaurant on the old canal at the wharf. Food was generally good, we only thought the “crazy calamari” was not okay. Definitely wasn't fresh calamari and was tough. We also said this but no response. The service was a bit arrogant. The rest of the food was tasty and the portions large.

Het eten en de service waren goed. We hebben iets langer dan een half uur op ons eten gewacht. Ook ging kreeg mijn collega een verkeerde bestelling na het lange wachten. Dat is jammer. Verder werden we goed geholpen.

I had dinner here with my 2 sisters last Thursday and we did not like it. One of my sisters had a blue piece of plastic in their spanakopita and they made light of it and it turned out to be "spinach" according to the chef. To which we said that blue spinach does not exist. The squid rings were not rings and were basically just tasteless and they were pieces of fish breaded. No lemon, nothing. Then came the main course. In our opinion the gyros was old. (Years of experience in Greek cuisine). This was then also made light of after I said that it was not tasty. At the end we were asked what we thought of it and all 3 of us said that we didn't like it. We also left the food behind. And in terms of service, I no longer think it is appropriate that if 3 guests do not finish their plate, you do not offer an apology and do not offer compensation of at least a drink. All 3 of us also had pain in our stomachs and this was really due to the gyros. This is very unfortunate. Greetings Savakis

Very tasty meat and a cozy atmosphere, but the chairs outside are really incredibly uncomfortable, and that does not invite you to dine for a long time or have a drink, unfortunately.

Tavern Utrecht. The Taverna is located in the middle of the Zen of Utrecht and on the Oudenkracht. Located on the water, this is a very nice location. The beer and drinks were good. The service was also ok. The restaurant is modernly furnished and very cozy. It has a great style. You can't park here, but you can park in the many surrounding parking garages.

The food was fresh and very tasty. We were helped well by the staff and the spot along the Oudegracht is really beautiful.

There is no arguing about taste, of course, but I did not get the taste experience there that I did several times in Greece. Not with everything, by the way. No salt-pepper-olive oil on the table and no Ouzo on the house beforehand. But hey, tastes differ!

Good business, busy. Excellent food, excellent hospitality

This review is based on a previous experience at the beginning of this year. Cozy restaurant in a beautiful location on the canal of Utrecht. It was very quiet on a Wednesday evening, and we were allowed to choose a table to sit at without a reservation. During the evening we were almost continuously helped by the same waitress who helped us very pleasantly and friendly. The menu is diverse and arranged in different categories from which to choose. I chose Giros Tui Chef, which I still think was a daring choice that evening. This is because there were many more interesting dishes on the menu and I was afraid that I would be served something simple with giros. This all turned out pretty well. Considering it was an oven dish, it was presented/encased in dough. Unfortunately, the dough was a bit on the stiff and hard side, which made it difficult for me to get through it with cutlery at times. In any case, it wasn't the taste. It was a tasty combination of dough, giros with peppers and delicious cream sauce. It was a large dish that left me full afterwards. Of course there is always room for dessert. I opted for the Chocolatopita (as usual, anything with chocolate). A chocolate cake with strawberry sauce. A nice refreshing combination. Because it was not that busy that evening, we were helped quite quickly and we did not have to wait long. Very good experience that is definitely worth repeating.

Really not worth the money for what you get. Prices are not the same at all.

The price is worth it just because of the location. The starters (mixed tapas plate) were all from a can. The food was far too fatty (leg of lamb) and not worth it. The service wasn't nice and you noticed that it was all about collecting money. If you just want to eat by the water and don't care about anything else, then it's ok. Otherwise it's really not worth spending the evening here.

If you just want a drink, they will make you feel unwelcomed. Plenty of other nice places around!

Great food and service with a very nice view

Delicious food on the Oude Gracht, beautiful location. They serve delicious Warsteiner in 40cl glasses here. Nice size. The lamb shank is as delicious as it looks. The potatoes and vegetables were cooked in the oven so that they became just as tasty as the lamb itself.

Al jaren bij Taverna leuk en gezellig gegeten. Maar 22 juni was het vreselijk! Geboren en getogen in de binnenstad van Utrecht Vierde mijn 75e verjaardag en had al op dinsdag gereserveerd voor buiten met 3 personen om 17.00 uur. Komen we daar, veel tafeltjes nog leeg en ook al had ik gereserveerd we moesten toch naar binnen! NIET DUS! konden nog buiten zitten maar dan moesten we wel voor 19.00 uur weg zijn!! Dus geen drankje vooraf en de sfeer was gelijk bedorven. Gekozen voor moussaka; de aardappels waren glazig en keihard, de aubergine was taai! Heb de helft laten staan. natuurlijk had ik het terug kunnen geven maar het was zo'n debacle. Voelde me zo bedrogen: geen vriendelijk welkom, geen goed eten!! Kom hier dus nooit meer! Gelukkig gingen we nog naar de voorstelling van Herman van Veen en dat maakte veel goed. Maar deze verjaardag vergeet ik nooit meer.
