Smokey Blinders in Wijk 00 Veldhoven

EDIT: After my review, I received a very quick and personal response/contact, and a more than polite and appropriate solution from Smokey Blinders. Thanks! I ordered through Thuisbezorgd and it looked great, but I was quite disappointed... I ordered €80, but threw away more than half because it was simply inedible. The delivery driver (from Smokey Blinders themselves) didn't even have the decency to remove his helmet when ringing the doorbell. I ordered short ribs for over €30, and when I opened the container, I was surprised to see four meager slices of meat, or even less than a full short rib, which had bones between two bones, which, incidentally, were completely missing. I understand that there's a profit to be made, but I realize that for less than €30, you can get a kilo of short ribs from a butcher. Furthermore, the "short rib" was overcooked, almost beyond the pulled beef stage. Completely overcooked... The spare ribs were worth the price (€28) in portion size, but unfortunately, that was the only thing that made it worthwhile. I think the spare ribs were cooked, then frozen and reheated in an oven. They were absolutely dry and tasted nothing like they had been reheated directly from frozen, so we simply threw them away. Neither meat dish was de-fleshed; the membrane, which is very tough, was still on the meat in both the short rib and the spare ribs. So, the short rib was very tough, and the spare ribs had become dry and crispy due to reheating in the oven. I can't be bothered with the onion rings either; they were just snotty and didn't eat them either. The loaded pulled pork fries were okay, no wow factor, just okay, not worth €13.25. They charged an extra €0.50 for Cajun spices on the fries, which you really have to search for with a magnifying glass, and which were also limp and soggy. Furthermore, everything was practically cold when it arrived.

The stew was delicious, and the service was friendly. But it was cold, which made the atmosphere rather uncomfortable. It was a shame we didn't have a choice of dessert.

We had a very good smokey burger there. The fries where also nice!

Short rib was delicious. In my opinion, the portions were small for the price. The pork belly was more cooked than fried, barely cooked. The staff was very friendly. But I'm not sure if my feedback about the pork belly was received clearly.

Me being a real bbq enthusiast, I was very exciting to go eat here. When I finally ate here, it was disappointing. I don't understand why its called Smokey Blinders, because the spare ribs are definitely not smoked/bbq'd. They have no taste at all, probably they were cooked. Same goes for the moink ball and burnt ends. No smoke flavour at all and overall very boring.

Ordered today for delivery at a scheduled time to accommodate the kids' naptime. The delivery driver was 30 minutes early, the short ribs were dry, and the fries weren't warm. Unfortunately, a huge disappointment for the price.

Had a wonderful dinner at Smokey Blinders today. I arrived a bit close to closing time, but the staff was incredibly friendly and helped me with a smile. And the food was delicious too. The John sandwich and loaded chicken fries are highly recommended. I picked it up, and even when I got home, the food was still nice and warm and the sandwich was wonderfully crispy. Excellent, I'll definitely be back.

Ordered whisky and vegan burger for home delivery.. both are amazing... but special mention to vegan burger, they freshly made an effort to make a great one with pickled onions n avocado ...fries are good too and everything is neatly packed and delivered in less than 40 mins .

We had heard about this spot from so many people, and after checking the impressive Google reviews, our expectations were high. When we arrived, the first thing that stood out was the staff taking the orders, friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Credit where it’s due, the service side was excellent. Unfortunately, the food itself did not live up to the hype. We tried both the brisket and the Angus burger, but neither offered anything memorable. The brisket was just a standard cut without any unique flavor profile or standout preparation. The burger, while decent, was overcooked for our taste and lacked the character you would expect from a place with such strong ratings. In fact, there are plenty of spots in town serving better, juicier burgers with more distinct seasoning. The fries were not fresh, though the Cajun spice added a nice touch flavor-wise. My impression is that the high ratings may be influenced more by their strong delivery service and convenience for the neighborhood rather than the quality of the food itself. If you are someone who enjoys this burger, I would encourage you to explore a few other dedicated burger spots, it might broaden your view on what a truly standout burger can be

It used to be great but it has been declining. Las spareribs I’ve ordered were burnt, and not ordered food was delivered together. The kids burger is ridiculously tiny.

Amazing food and atmosphere, very well looked after restaurant, we had the smokey burger, loaded pulled pork sweet potato and pulled beef chips. Portions were very very generous, we’re both walking dustbins and we walked put stuffed. The large portion of loaded fries is sufficient to share between two normal adults. Definitely will be coming back next time on our travels. Definitely would recommend to a mate.

One the best places I have been to for Burgers in this area. Definitely recommended

It looks nice inside, but it was completely quiet because there was no music playing and no one was talking. (The music did come on later, but only just as we were leaving.) The staff only spoke English and didn't understand Dutch. We also heard the waitstaff and chefs shouting loudly at each other while we were waiting to order drinks... it was very hot inside, and they wouldn't open a door or window. There was also no air conditioning. I asked for my burger (which was delicious) without tomato because of my allergy. It ended up with tomato anyway. This was also the reason I decided to leave a review. I would definitely return if the staff spoke Dutch and listened to a customer's wishes.

The short rib is highly recomanded.

Quality of burgers was disappointing. Were not cooked. Not advisable to eat them in this hot weather. Unfortunately they ended up in the trash. A shame. I don't like to throw food away. Ordered online and had it delivered to my home. Filed a complaint about this. They did not keep to the promise of full reimbursement. First and last time. Disappointed in this restaurant. 😪

We had the smoky burger and the brisket sandwich. Brisket sandwich good (not that big as mentioned earlier in reviews). Both were not hot. Ordered the truffle loaded fries. These were barely warmed if they had been sitting there awhile. Also we ordered the large and got the small. We were so hungry we started on the food! Items we did not order showed up on our bill. Items we ordered but never came showed up on our bill. If there is a next time: check bill before and return items that are not hot.

Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. We had high expectations because of the fantastic ratings. But the spare ribs were very dry and therefore not tasty at all, almost inedible. I often eat ribs and like them when I'm in the Netherlands and I'm sorry to say, but these are the worst I ever had in the Netherlands. (Sweet & BBQ) Service was also not really attentive. We had to get the menu ourselves and we never got the burnt brisket ends we ordered. Maybe it was better this way. At least they weren't on the bill in the end.

I think they need to work on the take-away service. It just seems that they have a different chef for take aways and a different one for in-house orders. I took an order of fries, wings and ribs as a take away and the fries were just stale. The ribs were dry and dominos makes better chicken wings than the ones i got, yeah dominos. However, while I was waiting for the take away, I noticed food coming out of the kitchen and it looked and seemed every bit fresh & tasty as described in the other reviews. However, the food I received looked & tasted like it was from yesterday. It was a difference of day and night. I would still like to try their on site food and maybe that will change my mind. Oh and btw, the staff is really good and the restaurant has a great vibe.

Not normally tasty. Delicious burgers and the tastiest piece of pork belly ever, wonderfully tender and melts on your tongue.

It's a very nice place with very good smoked Spareribs! The pig belly was very soft and very good. Also for a good price. If I could change one thing it would be the outside scenery. This place would do great in the woods.

I've tried the pork belly, brisket and BBQ spare ribs here and it really was. Best meat ever! As if an angel pees on your tongue and keeps pissing until his bladder is completely empty and then he calls his friends and they also piss on your tongue. It was soo good. They should put more of these kinds of things throughout the Netherlands. The meat has been smoked for at least 16 hours and is very tender. I'll be going here more often anyway. Everyone really should try this. It would be even better if this place moved to the forest. To some kind of saloon or something. I think it really fits with this. The angels are still peeing!

We ate there on April 20th, the burgers with pulled beef were great, the fries with the marinated chicken were also magnificent and the white lady was magnificent with the hot chocolate, so good. Speak English, so much the better because we are French

Take the shortrib, it's consistently moist and fatty. Brisket can be hit or miss. Either it's moist or dry.

First time here with my girlfriend. We both had a chicken burger and large pulled chicken fries with siracha mayonnaise. Tasted very good! And top service!

For this price you can expect that you will get a standard mayonnaise with the extra expensive fries... which you order with Cajun spices and just get normal.

Very tasty food and very pleasant service. We walked in on spec, because we were in a hotel nearby and got busy was like a table. I had the brisket and have rarely eaten something so tasty. We will definitely come back here when we are in the area.

Above all, value for money. Compared to other places where you can get sandwiches and burgers, you pay the same here, but much better quality. Tommy Shelby sandwich is highly recommended. Whiskey loaded fries are also very good. Especially if you ask if it can be mixed with sweet potato fries.

Had smoked chicken salad and moink balls. Super tasty. The agnus burger also tasty. Daughter had eaten a gluten-free hamburger. The prices were quite low.

Nice (small) tent decorated in the Peaky Blinders style. We had a delicious meal (brisket, short ribs, spare ribs). Excellent portions. Service was mediocre. Serving food in the wrong place, dropping food and putting drinks on the table without asking if they could indicate it. Controls were often not visible for a long time, which resulted in fewer orders being placed. A missed opportunity is that, apart from a scoop of vanilla ice cream, there are no other desserts on the menu.

Good food and service. Vibe is right, even saw some neck tattooed bad boys enjoying a pleasant meal. Street smells like green egg smoke. There's things to do for your toddler. She made a Paw Patrol puzzle. Burboun sour was on point. Sadly no Guiness though.

The food was fantastic... really great... but it was way too cold in the shop... I just put on my scarf.... so the atmosphere is gone.... and I drank few drinks. therefore... super food, but next time I'll turn on the stove.... And the downside is that the menu is not correct...the prices are not up to date...that has to be correct... And tip, yes please, but choose how much, now you were obliged to give 5, 10 or 15%.... in New York it's just like that, but not here in the Netherlands.... otherwise delicious food and friendly service ... I have only occasionally received a response, but I think it is a bit weak...excuse upon excuse, it was just stone cold and that does not suit a restaurant, we were NOT seated near the door, just in the shop at the back... nothing is offered for the next time.....

Great place, great vibe, great food. Visited here on the off chance and it was great. Staff were excellent. Unfortunately 1 star dropped for not serving tap water and only charging by the bottle. This is probably an ownership rule. I personally do not agree with water companies profiting when Holland has some of the best tap water on the planet.

Heerlijk eten !! Echt super...maar Het was veel en veel te koud in t restaurant.... heb gewoon mn sjaal om gedaan... daardoor ook maar 1 drankje gedaan...te koud om te drinken..... Verder vind ik dat de menukaar up to date moet zijn en niet gezegd wordt ohjaa het kan zijn dat de prijzen wat duurder zijn dan op de kaart .....gewoon nee haal ze dan weg of verbeter het tijdelijk met een stickertje... En als ik fooi wil geven dan wil ik zelf bepalen hoeveel...er werd me verplicht te kiezen tussen 5. 10 15 of 20 %......in New York de normaalste zaak, maar hier in Veldhoven toch niet...daarmee slaan jullie de plank volledig mis, het voelde een beetje vreemd voor t blok gezet vd fooi, zou daar graag nog een reactie op krijgen vind meer dan 7 euro fooi op zn minst ...echt geen stijl Het eten was echt top...de bediening erg vriendelijk ....dus nee ben niet negatief vind het een top tent...als de kachel brandt
