Sol Y Sombra in Breda centrum

I’m from Spain and me and a few friends came to this place to have some authentic spanish food but instead we were served an undercooked paella with rice that was still hard and when I politely told the waitress that the food hadn’t been cooked properly she brought out the cook who told me that it was meant to be cooked like that which is just not true because I know what a paella should taste like given that I have eaten it since I was a child. The only option that was offered was that she would cook it longer and when she came to take away the food she asked how long she should cook it for ? when she’s the one that’s supposed to know how to make the food specially when charging 22€ per person. Besides the rice being undercooked the paella itself lacked flavor and was almost insipid. Terrible experience. Will never come back here again.

The good took us back to our time in Spain. The atmosphere was a great mix between old Dutch bar and Spain. Servers were very nice. Definitely recommend above other tapas restaurants in the Breda area.

Spaanse tapas, écht op z'n Spaans. Betaalbaar & goede knusse sfeer. Daar kunnen de grotere tapas-ketens niet tegenop.

Price quality is very questionable. We had some tapas and drinks. But in the end we ordered the same as at a good fine dining establishment.

We arrived with our "local taste" tokens. The three of us arrived within the allotted time, but weren't really welcomed. We were eventually allowed to sit at the bar, where friendly customers tried to wait in front of us. We didn't see or receive a smile. After our snack, we quickly left.

What a fantastic experience! This tapas restaurant is highly recommended. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the warm atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was top-quality, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. Every dish was carefully prepared, and you can taste it. The service was fast, attentive, and with a smile. In short, we had a wonderful evening, and we will definitely be back. If you're looking for an authentic and atmospheric tapas experience, this is the place!

A very friendly host/owner, who even makes room for a group of people who spontaneously drop in late at night. The food is nice and hot and delicious, and the prices are certainly reasonable. You can make it as cheap or expensive as you like.

Tasty tapas and sangria! Small and cozy. You order at the bar with an order list that you fill in. That certainly doesn't make the atmosphere any less good.

No fresh products, everything comes ready-made from the freezer. No dip is served with the calamaris and it is very greasy. Management is chaotic. We won't be coming back here again.

Very cosy. Real Spanish atmosphere. Delicious food and...don't forget the wine ;)...and after 6 months another nice outing. The Union rings with a spicy sauce are also very tasty.

There is a nice casual atmosphere and the food is also tasty. You can sit there for a long time and order everything. It is a good tent to go with a group, but it is also cozy for two people. Highly recommended!

I think the boy running the restaurant tonight had his own playlist on. Broederliefde, Tiësto and DJ Paul Elstak all passed by. Food: wasn't the best I've eaten at a Tapas restaurants Ps. The song The Guardian Angel also appeared. Nice for the pub, but not in a Spanish tapas restaurant.

Very bad service! All the tables were empty, and yet we couldn't eat. There were only 2 couples in the restaurant. However, we went with 5 people. So at Sol Y Sombra they will NEVER see my face again. We had driven there from Limburg. This is not recommended, and not a way to refuse customers and also with a stupid actitud.. Not worth stars 1 star is even too much for that service!!!

In eerste instantie was dit een 'uitwijkadres', omdat het gebruikelijke Tapas restaurant al volgeboekt was. We werden zeer vriendelijk ontvangen, in een kleurrijk restaurant, waar constant wat te zien was. De tapas waren erg lekker, de inktvisringen onovertroffen (ik miste er wel een knoflooksausje bij), de porties waren ruim voldoende. De bediening was vlot en vriendelijk. Een heerlijke avond gehad op één van de mooiste plekjes van Breda. Na deze ontdekking ben ik hier zeker meer te gast!

Gezellige authentieke Spaanse sfeer en gerechten. Heerlijk gegeten met een goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. Een aanrader voor iedereen die echte tapas wil eten. We komen zeker nog een keer terug.

Gezellige plek om te zitten met keuze uit diverse tapas (vlees, vis vegetarisch) en lekkere Tinto de Verano. Lekker kleinschalig ook. De tweede keer was het vlees helaas vaak deels zwart gegrild en droog. Daarom geen 4 sterren meer maar 3.

Voor ons de beste tapas van Breda. Genoeg keus voor iedereen. Alles is even lekker wij komen er altijd graag.

Heel lekker gegeten, aardige bediening. Lekkere sangria maar de kan was niet zo handig..

Lekker gegeten! Er werd bij binnenkomst niet uitgelegd hoe we konden bestellen. Het stond gelukkig op de kaart! De variatie is heel fijn, en genoeg keuze voor iedereen. Vlees, vis, vega, en lekkere desserts

Leuk concept Bediening niet in Spaanse sfeer. Gehaast, populair gedrag. Keuze goed. Koude gerechten zijn goed. Eten uit de frituur is vet.

Paar keer geluncht, gewoon recht toe recht aan Tapas. Vandaag diner gedaan daar. Simpel maar lekker. Bij mooi weer leuk om buiten te zitten, want op de hoop gebeurd altijd wat. Personeel is vriendelijk, kunnen alleen wel wat meer opletten op de klant, maar dat is een kleine kanttekening

Alles tegelijk geserveerd, maar ik heb al betere tapas gegeten , wel leuke zaak en goede locatie. Eten was niet heel spannend.

We hadden het verrassingsmenu. Heerlijke gerechten, lekker vers, ontzettend veel! Gezellig restaurant met leuke bediening.

Matig Frituurtapas, niet zoals in Spanje. Waar zijn de verse tapas bij de tapasschotel ? Mossel, verse calamari, etc.. paella is geen gele rijst met doperwten

Een echt Spaans authentiek tapas restaurantje. Aardappel tortilla en de patatas bravas waren lekker. Ook de croquettes en de empanadas smaakte goed. Geen wow restaurant maar wel gewoon lekkere tapas. Paprika gevuld met roomkaas en brood met alioli waren doorsnee.
