Yesterday we had a delicious dinner with a nice glass of wine in a cozy atmosphere with great service

I recently moved a stone's throw from Spijkers in IJmuiden. I've been there twice this month for dinner, and yesterday for the tapas menu. Free parking, the location is great. The atmosphere is excellent and relaxing. The service is fast, and the food is truly delicious. Everything tasted great and looked perfect. The price is also excellent. I've gained a new regular customer, keep up the good work!

We had dinner on Christmas Day. Would you like a glass of water with your wine? Yes, of course. And then, twice in a row, it wasn't served. The special was tenderloin pieces with truffle. I didn't taste the truffle, and they were tenderloin skewers. The main courses weren't very warm either. We had to wait a long time for our main course. They were already out of oat milk. The first coat rack was full. When I asked if there was somewhere to put more coats, I was told "full = full." And I didn't even point to the other coat rack.

My husband has esophageal cancer and eats a maximum of 200 to 250 mg. It was no problem to book one fewer person. They helped me create a customizable menu. My first dinner out was a great success. The 8 x 25-gram appetizers (we brought our scales) were a treat. Thanks to the staff, including Charelle! Thank you so much! My first dinner out after surgery was a great success. ❤️

So bad food. Fish & chips. Shocking. It is kibberling. Not proper battered fish. These where straight out the freezer. Wet on the inside. HORRIBLE. So lazy from the kitchen. How easy is it to make! Never will I revisit this place. Service OK but had to wait to pay and the place was probably not even 20% full.

The satay was good and the tenderloin was tender. Ordering a bob glass of wine was tricky. A full glass eventually arrived, so we just left it at that. Otherwise, the service was excellent. We made an online reservation and received a reminder on the day itself. It said, "Online cancellations are accepted up to 30 days in advance." Strange. You'll get sick in the meantime. It's a shame that when you make your reservation, you have to specify whether you'd like to choose something from the menu or tapas on the day itself. I understand that preparing tapas takes time, but this is the first restaurant we've done this way.

We had an excellent lunch. Parking is available at the property. It's a shame you can't charge your electric car right there.

Friendly staff when there's interaction, but the food is often greasy. I've eaten there several times, but I often end up with heartburn afterward. It could be worse, but it could also be better.

We had some delicious tapas again

Good menu, good portions, service was friendly.

We had made a reservation three weeks in advance, but upon arrival, we were placed in the grand café instead of the restaurant. It was cold there and there was a constant draft, which made it rather uncomfortable. It then took an hour and a half for the starters to be served. When they finally arrived, the food was far below what you'd expect from a restaurant like this—the onion soup was actually the worst I've ever had. The staff forgot to bring drinks several times, took orders incorrectly, and generally seemed untrained. They clearly lacked experience and attentiveness to their guests. To make matters worse, there were errors on the bill: drinks were charged for that we never received, and some dishes were billed as individual items instead of as a set menu, making the whole thing more expensive. All in all, a huge disappointment on what should have been a festive evening.

Enjoy delicious tapas. A wide selection of tasty appetizers, meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes. The "all you can eat" concept means you can choose two dishes for each course. The menu is updated regularly.

We had a wonderful lunch with 10 people! Demy had taken care of everything down to the last detail. The lunch was delicious, the place was beautiful and full of privacy, the service was superb, and everything went as planned. Hats off!

Be patient when waiting for the delicious food. They have a perfect kitchen, in our opinion. The drinks were good, but the service is incredibly slow. A 45-minute wait for your tapas is simply too long. The evening program ended up with four rounds of tapas. The waiters chew gum behind the bar and when they take orders. The drinks sit on the bar for ages while the bar staff does nothing. These people I'm describing above are not suited for the hospitality industry. Luckily, there were two other people who did notice. A young man who was supposed to be free was filling all the holes and pulling his socks off, and there was an older woman who was practically running away as well. As far as we're concerned: get rid of those bad apples in the service, give them some serious training, or run the restaurant with fewer staff and significantly fewer tables. This is such a shame because the food is a solid 10.

You can only order 2 tapas at a time and they arrive after about 20 minutes and then you can order again. It's annoying and takes too long. The price-performance ratio is not there and some of the service staff are disinterested. It's a shame, actually a nice restaurant.

This restaurant is located right in the transition between the commercial area by the harbor and a residential area. While you expect good food, it's not exactly "fine dining." We were there two evenings and tried everything from finger food to steak, fish, and various desserts. Everything was very tasty and the prices were more than reasonable for the quality. We were pleasantly surprised and can recommend the restaurant.

We went for lunch. We asked what the soup of the day was. The lady who served us didn't know. We ended up with zucchini soup. Other guests said it was the same soup as the day before. Anyway. Good service, although we had to wait a long time. Ultimately, the food was good; the portions were quite generous. A good place for lunch.

Had high tea with a friend. We made a reservation by phone in advance and explained that one of us has a nut allergy and one of us is pregnant. The table was set with all the tea, which looked lovely. Soup followed, which was also good. Then the sandwiches arrived, four of the six containing raw meat and fish. We immediately ordered them, and then received two extra sandwiches. It took a very long time for the leftovers to be collected—an hour. And then we were told we could eat those too...? After a long wait, the sweets arrived, 90% of which contained nuts. The waitress asked us if we didn't know which ones contained nuts and which didn't. Then we were given a few replacement sweets, but again, they didn't specify what they were. There was very little communication. All in all, a good meal, but poor service and a lack of attention to (deadly!) dietary requirements.

The Turks Brood was the worst I've ever eaten. The bread rolls were unlovable, the dips were terrible. The pizza was drowning in tomato sauce. The food wasn't worth the price and certainly not recommended.

Had a great meal there at a party of my brother-in-law. What struck me was the generous amounts of fish that came to my plate. And good in size and good in taste.

We asked politely if we could call a taxi, the answer we got was, you do have a phone yourself, after asking again it was refused again and that while it was not busy at all, I still don't think that is good service, a pity

Delicious food, big servings, cold beer and helpful and friendly staff. A great way of spending a couple of hours whilst waiting for the DFDS ferry to Newcastle.

Ask for English menu, you will have it. Fish and chips are good.

Had high tea. Was really great. But what a shame that one staff member is so incredibly rude. She knocks over a wine glass at the bar. The glass shatters on my foot and the small pieces shoot into my open shoe. The lady (not a young thing) does not respond to my comment. That the glass is also in my shoe. Not even after saying it 4 times. While she should have heard me clearly because she looked at me.

Eating tapas is simply not worth it. 45 minutes per bite is not okay. And that on a quiet Tuesday evening, the kitchen was very slow and sometimes lukewarm 😢. Portions of fried food too big and slightly crispier food very small. Oh well. Choices! Positive note? Excellent service and cold beer.

Well, it took a while to write this review. Everything had to get its place! We had a very bad experience in this restaurant. Eating out with 9 people including 2 children. At a quarter to 6 at the table, at half past 7 we got the starter! But now comes the thing, at about a quarter to 9 we only got the main course! We already asked twice where it was but the service was very confused and different towards us. 3 dishes is already wrong, because there was only 1 chef and the dish was already made.! Was that bad? If not, the chef will make it again but then you have to wait even longer! At 10 o'clock we were having dessert, well the melted dessert! And what prices for what you get! A delicious fruit shell with 6 blueberries, 1 scoop of ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream for 10 euros? They should be ashamed! We also filed our complaint. We did get an apology and we got all the main courses for free! But actually we still paid too much. And we should have left. Very disappointed in this company. I therefore do not recommend this restaurant!

I think €6 for half a hot meal is ridiculous

This restaurant deserves 5 strong stars. We arrived late, just before the kitchen closed, but we placed our order without any problems. We got delicious sea bass with grilled vegetables. Plus great wine. Very nice restaurant staff!

Spijkers: Where Patience and Hunger Go Hand in Hand” Yesterday we had tapas at Spijkers. Well, “ate” is a big word. We mainly waited a lot. At Spijkers it takes so long for your food to arrive that you start to wonder whether they still had to invent the dish. Every course was a surprise. Not because it was exciting, but because it was either cold, delivered incorrectly, or completely missing. Conclusion: if you like colder food than your ex, longer waits than at the tax office and compensations that laugh right in your face, then Spijkers is your place. For the rest: take a Snickers with you, because you are not yourself here when you are hungry.

Here they don't understand what catering is. What poor service, no contact with servers and they just stand around and beat around the bush. It is not recommended to relax on the terrace, because that causes a lot of frustration due to the lax attitude of the staff.

The restaurant consists of 2 parts, both with a different name. This is not clearly indicated. We went into Spijkers but were almost immediately told by an employee that it was closed because she could not serve 2 restaurants on her own. I thought this was a bit of a strange way, but okay. The interior is just nice, it is clean inside and the service is very friendly. It does take a very long time here. A total of 45 minutes for a small bowl of broth and another 45 minutes for a sandwich. I noticed that many guests were waiting for a very long time. The food was very tasty, only the tom kai soup is not what is on the menu. It says noodles, chicken and spring onion. But in reality it is a very small bowl of bound broth/soup without filling. The taste was very good! I find that very disappointing. The sandwiches were generous in portion and very tasty. I will probably come back here, but the food has to come faster and match what is on the menu. For now a 7

Really delicious food. Wednesday evening 6 tables occupied. Hopefully it will be busier here on the weekend. Really worth it. Just from the menu or tapas. Worth repeating. Good parking.

Enjoyed a delicious three-course menu where the steak was really red and tender. The cheesecake is top class. Operation too...

Had tapas here via tripper. The reservation did not go through (so if you book via tripper, call or email Spijkers with your reservation!) Fortunately there was room, because we arrived quite early (5.30 pm). (An hour later it was almost full) The tapas were delicious! Some portions are quite large. The apple pieces with goat cheese were delicious! The staff was professional and patient. When we indicated that we wanted to wait a while with the next order, they (fortunately) did not come by every time (something that often happens) I wanted to eat tapas again, but at a different restaurant than the well-known La C* and I really enjoyed it! Spijkers is definitely recommended!

We went for the tapas. During the first round the carparccio was just barely frozen. A round later the wrong order was delivered. At the last round we got cold spring rolls.

Reserved via tripper for Christmas Day, paid and received confirmation and then you get a call 2 days before Christmas that the reservation will not go through, too ridiculous for words, where can you find something for Christmas Day and also have to wait for the money back, really styleless

The food here is nothing to write home about: this time we opted for 2 starters. Onion soup seemed to come from a can, there was no garlic cheese toast, as stated on the menu. There was also a tasting of croquettes: the one with cheese stood out, the rest all tasted the same. They were left with a blob of something (?) stuck to toast, which was really inedible! Completely prepared without passion, yuck!

Enjoyed a delicious high tea. The table was already ready for us with all kinds of tea. Food was more than enough. Staff very friendly, regularly asked if everything was OK. Highly recommended

Made a reservation at 4:30 PM, when you sit down you only hear that Tapas is from 5:00 PM, it was not stated anywhere when booking. Are you being helped by an antisocial waitress who cannot communicate normally? So I paid for the drinks and left, not wanting to stay 5 minutes longer in that kindergarten. Finally had a delicious meal at Kinko.

Reception was very modest. Laughing has to be learned... Very young team that is quite overwhelmed... Everything takes time and they have no structure. We ate here twice. 1. Entrecote was good. Sea bass was very poorly prepared. Crispy fried... 2. Tapas, because it looked so delicious the first time. Unfortunately it looked nicer than it tasted. Tartar, carpaccio and fish pans were good. The rest was... well... Rarely had a beef steak that was so tough. Pork fillet tasteless despite the mushroom sauce Too bad!

Unfortunately I can't give 0 stars, because this is a crappy company that doesn't even deserve a star. I was going to celebrate my 25th birthday here, I looked in advance. Explained that it was a birthday party and that loud music might be used. No problem they said. Until that day I heard nothing about what my wishes were and when I could decorate the room as agreed. That morning I called myself and it didn't matter the time of decorating, I could come whenever I had time that day. Around 3 o'clock I was there with my family to decorate it, but when I got there it wasn't possible and the room was still rented to someone else, strange because I had called that morning. It was the evening and I finally got to decorate at 7 o'clock. I received a note with the domestic drinks. It said old and new jenever and jagermaister, now jagermaister is not a domestic drink, but anyway it was written down and otherwise the range of domestic drinks was very mediocre. The staff kept coming in to say that the music had to be turned down because of... the restaurant. I said that I had specifically asked whether it was really allowed with music, otherwise I would have looked for another venue. It wasn't a problem, but in the evening it was still a problem and they kept complaining. Too bad because otherwise I would have kept it somewhere else. We listened carefully and turned the music down, on the condition that the music could be louder when the restaurant was closed. When all the guests had left and we had listened carefully, we turned the music up again. Even then they complained that it had to be softer. I also paid for a package per person where you paid for 3 x hot snacks, 2 x cold snacks, nuts, snacks and drinks. And we had to ask a few times for hot snacks and cold snacks. We never got the nuts and pretzels. At a certain point we were also no longer allowed to have a jagermaister because he didn't want drunk people. This was the final straw for us and at my party, I talked to the manager and said that I was clear in advance what I wanted to rent and for what purpose, it was said that it was intended for that purpose and I did not have to look any further. and then the party was not at all as promised. A real mockery. The entire room was full of glasses. We took it to the bar ourselves with trays, because it was always not taken. In short, a big mockery. To top it all off, the invoice arrived. The soft drink for which you already paid per person in the package was simply counted on the receipt as “extra” (read, coke and coke zero) and 10 bacardi was charged, even though that was not that much to drink this evening. The kibbeling is highly recommended, always good and also excellent desserts. The service could be better. Most (young) girls who work there can take a catering course. You notice that (some of them) don't care much and they don't feel for their guests. Busy complaining and using their phones... Although there are a few good young employees among them, it is fair to say. An experienced employee or management may also be able to bring the other staff members along to improve things.

We eat out very regularly (lunch and dinner), but this time I have to post a review. We ordered 2x mixed grill and it was not good! All the meat was lukewarm to almost cold. Steak was just lukewarm, fried far too short and therefore too rare, chicken was lukewarm and dry, spare ribs were lukewarm and tough (should be juicy and tender). The fries consisted of 75% hard, small pieces. There was a very small container of sauce with the meat. I still had adjer on my plate my wife did not. We did this after the question "did you enjoy it?" reported and as compensation we were offered a cappucino. Dear Spijkers: I hope that this was an incident and that the kitchen had an off-day... we like to eat at Spijkers regularly, but if this is a trend then we will unfortunately have to visit another restaurant.

Nice lunch for a reasonable price

Service was (very) young but very friendly. It was noticeable that they still have a lot to learn. Apparently this is handled well because an experienced person regularly gives instructions.

We had dinner here today and unfortunately it was not to our liking. We opted for tapas. We came in first and were greeted very nicely by someone. But as soon as we sat down at the table things went very badly. We were served by 2 very young girls. Those who did not have good experience or were poorly trained were also left to run the restaurant alone. We were only asked for a drink after 30 minutes and it took another 15 minutes before we got it. The food was very mediocre. I don't recommend going here. Which is a shame because it seems like a nice restaurant inside.

There were two of us there and we each had a dish and a drink each. Our drinks were taken quickly, but water was also forgotten, which we didn't get, even when we asked. We had to ask the waiters to come to us several times, even though we were sitting in a central location and they could easily serve us. Since we weren't given a map at the beginning, we found out what to eat online. After we placed our order, a pizza carpaccio was misunderstood and there was only the carpaccio without pizza. That was a bit sobering as we were very hungry. The mixed grill plate tasted very good, although the price was very high for what you got. The ambience is quite okay (sat outside). You can actually go out to eat there, but you should be careful about what and how you order it, as it can lead to confusion. Therefore 3 out of 5 stars

Food was very tasty and the ambience was great... BUT when we arrived we waited 20 minutes for the waitress to order, then after ordering we waited again for around 20 minutes, tourists are not given preference, which means others get to drink food before you if you've been waiting downstairs for 20 mi In total we waited about 2 hours until we could leave, Even a Cola that costs 3 euros, there is only a Pepsi in 0.2. Apart from the food, not recommended

I liked the food, it was delicious. The service leaves much to be desired. We were the first to arrive at the establishment and waited for the waiter to place an order. While other guests were waiting to arrive, and for some reason the waiter hurried to them first, took their order... and in general, I didn’t like the atmosphere, communication with the staff, too unfriendly.

The only thing missing was ambient music! 😃 Service deserves a thousand marks…. The food is spectacular! I hope to return soon! 🇧🇷🇳🇱♥️

Takes for ever to get your food, and Hardly a smiling face, they need better management and a proper waiter to customer learning.. counting over an hour waiting, and it’s not even packed with people.!!

Disgusting attitude. Ignorant staff! To the pinnacle. Took me 25 mins to even be looked at even though they weren’t busy, I went to the counter and asked for a menu. Didn’t offer me a drink, or ask me what I wanted to eat, had to make contact. Two blond girls with blinkers on. Food came out, soup was tasty, but main came out, no knife and forks, dropped it on table, didn’t ask me for another drink, even though glass was empty, I asked for another pint, no eye contact, minimal connection. Felt very uncomfortable eating here. Lady with glasses the better of the two blonds. Very expensive restaurant, at least have some integrity. Rude!!!!!!
