A beautifully situated restaurant in the heart of the pedestrian zone. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our table (7 people plus a stroller), which we had reserved in advance. Our special requests for our culinary journey around the world were accommodated and tastefully prepared.

This was my second time eating here. We enjoyed the surprising stews from all over the world (tasting), and the kids loved the Dutch stew. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

One of the owners took the time to explain the passion behind Stoof, which you can truly feel in everything. It's not just about good food, but about a complete experience. I had dinner with a group of five here, we had the shared "proeverij" dishes. We received six small stews either veggie, meat or fish, which ones are a surprise and chosen by the chef. All the stews were unique and very tasty. The stews all came from different places worldwide and they varied from an irish Guinness stew, to a maroccan tajin to an indian curry. The stews also came with some side dishes like potatoes, apple compote and veggies. The two waiter were very friendly and fun. And the atmosphere was familiar and traditional. We had an overall great experience.

This was our second visit to Stoof and we were thrilled again. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. We chose the tasting menu again, where, for a group of two or more, you get four different stews and five side dishes. You can express your preferences or leave it to the chef. We opted for the latter and were not disappointed.

Highly recommended. We chose the stew tasting. You can indicate what you like or don't like. You also have a choice of fish, meat, or vegetarian. You get four. We went for one fish and three meat dishes. It's served on a tray with small pans, which are placed on a raised platform in the middle of the table. What you get is a surprise. It also comes with five side dishes: rice, couscous, fries, stewed vegetables, or coleslaw. It looks fantastic, and the flavors are superb. When it's brought, they explain the names of the dishes and what's in them. Super friendly service. The atmosphere is also very warm and appropriate. Appropriate. They even served a basket of bread and spreads beforehand. We also enjoyed the three "failed" desserts. The price is also affordable. We were on vacation in Friesland, so unfortunately, we won't be able to return anytime soon.

We had another delicious meal at Stoof. The vegan stews and accompanying dishes were excellent. The appetizer roll and tapenades were also delicious, as were the vegan panna cottas. Yes, it was a successful dinner out for our 29th wedding anniversary. Thanks again to the Stoof staff 👍👌

What a fantastic restaurant! We ate here six years ago and will never forget it. Now, so many years later, we were able to visit again (we don't exactly live nearby), and it was just as special! Those adorable little pans with the surprise menu were fantastic. And for the vegetarian, it's a real surprise what's on the menu.

The food was delicious. And there are plenty of gluten-free options if you just ask. What a fantastic menu! You won't find such exceptional food anywhere else for this price! The bread and tapenade starters were also delicious and gluten-free.

We were a group of six and did the tasting. We really liked the concept, but unfortunately, we didn't like the stews at all (out of seven varieties, only one tasted good). The vegetables in the stew were extremely overcooked, the sauce was too thick (tasted very much like flour/starch), and not seasoned enough. The vegan coleslaw, fries, and compote were very good, though. The service was very friendly.

We had a delicious lunch here today. It consisted of onion soup, croquettes on white bread, and a ham and cheese omelet. It was truly fantastic, what flavors!

Super friendly service, great lunch menu. Seat outside right by the canal, or inside in the lovely setting. There are also more unusual dishes and a separate daily and evening menu. Highly recommended for dining in Sneek.

Echt een aanrader! Wij hadden een proeverij van verschillende soorten stoofpotjes. Ze waren allemaal even smaakvol. Prijs en kwaliteit verhouding zeer goed. We werden vriendelijk bediend.

Heerlijk! Had eem afhaalmenu voor 1 pers met procureur stoof en goulash. Warme groente, rauwkost, rijst en patat. Meteen aanbevolen aan vriendinnen. Ideaal voor als je weinig tijd hebt en gezond wilt eten. Anders zou ik lekker in het restaurant of op het terras gaan zitten.

The tasting of various international stew dishes was phenomenal. So many different flavor explosions and so authentic, it was like taking a short trip to each country. We had Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Georgia, Africa, and the North Sea. The quality and preparation of the food is exceptional. Also, the staff are fantastic, explaining everything well and precisely. This is what makes eating out the greatest pleasure for us!

Location well Sneek is a nice little town and the restaurant has seating on the channel and indoors. Food.They have a menu with itemised orders and the surprise order where you get something out of 210 dishes. They will ask you how much meat, fish and vegetarian there should be and about any special requirements. We had two fish, two meat and the usual accompaniments. All very tasty with the one unavoidable hiccup that temperatures go down. Service. One word perfect, All in all. Not gonna do this again as my stomach is still protesting but fully recommended.

A little insider tip in the culinary heart of Sneek. Stews from all over the world are served here. The price/performance ratio is good. You'll be served by competent staff. I can only recommend it.

What a great restaurant this is. The two of us did the tasting and everything tasted delicious. The concept is very nice, allowing you to try different stews, and the portions are more than enough. The prices are also completely fine. What we liked most was how welcome we were as guests and how sincere the staff is. Often this is feigned friendliness or unfriendly, but this staff is genuinely interested and enthusiastic about their own concept from start to finish. We were very happy that there was still room, so it is advisable to book in advance.

Lovely atmosphere, lovely servers, all giving a first rate dining experience. We went for the stews - five different ones served, based on your suggestions of what you would like. Really very good indeed. I am gluten free and they took that into account without any fuss. The pudding were great too. Wine was very good value. All in all, I thoroughly recommend to anyone coming to Sneek.

Quite a brilliant meal. Came across it from a review on Tripadvisor and it was easily as good as the recommendation said. Food was really good and different and the service was really friendly. The food? Every kind of stew that you could think of. Meat, fish, veggie, and gluten free .All delicious.

We hebben hier de proeverij gekozen. Wat was dat lekker! De 1 smaakte nog beter dan de ander! We hadden de "koffie met koekjes" en ijs toe. Heerlijk Tel hierbij het hele leuke en supervriendelijke personeel en goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding op en je avond is compleet. Als we weer in Sneek zijn, gaan we hier zeker weer eten!

Ze doen mee aan liefdadigheid, de voedselbank, en had via daar een dinerbon gekregen. Het eten was fantastisch lekker (de veenhuizer kip vooral) en heb er nog van over ook zoveel kreeg ik! :) Ook ziet het er binnen schoon, gezellig en knus uit. Bij deze raad ik dit restaurant ten zeerste aan 100/100 punten gescoord bij mij. Groet, N.

Had a wonderful night out. In a pleasant and homely atmosphere we were introduced to the different stews that were offered. The vegetarian options were a bit outside our taste pattern, but one of the meat options was even tastier than the other. The service was friendly and explained everything in a simple manner. Had a delicious meal at Stoof tonight. My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years today and had a wonderful evening. I was surprised with rose petals on the table. They explained the concept and how carefully the ingredients and recipes were considered. The staff and owner are very friendly and great service. Our compliments and thank you for this beautiful evening and the delicious food.

We ordered and picked up food. Friendliness and the attractive decoration of the restaurant translated into a tasty meal (even if it was taken away). In our case we had a tasting of stews. Was well packaged so it was still nice and warm while eating. In short, definitely worth a repeat for us.

Voor de feestdagen nog even eten met de collega's. Met z'n zessen kozen we voor de proeverij. Zeven stoofpotjes, we konden aangeven of we vlees, vis, vega wilden. Heerlijk gegeten, prima bediening en leuk ingericht restaurant. Top!

Gem in Sneek! The employees have a passion for their profession and they really radiate that. Lots to say about the menu. Price quality was good. It was also great that there were many vegetarian options, also interesting for the regular meat eater who wants something different. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our dinner at Stoof. We opted for the Tasting and it is a very different and fun experience this way. One stew was better than the other, but that's the risk. Neither of us were fans of the desserts we chose. That was a shame, but it can happen. The service is extremely friendly and helpful! It is a cozy restaurant.

A nice concept. They have more stews here than are on the menu. We opted for the tasting where you indicate your preference for the flavors: meat, fish and/or vegetables. We like everything so we went for 2 meat, 1 fish and 1 vegetable. They also serve rice, new potatoes, homemade fries, vegetable mix and coleslaw. It was really tasty and you get more than enough. Daarop stemt men jouw gerechten af. Een aanrader is de Proeverij, waarbij je vier stoofpotjes krijgt uit verschillende werelddelen (wij hadden Nederlands, Afrikaans, Indonesisch en Russisch). Heerlijk. Prettige sfeer. Bediening is voortreffelijk en men neemt alle tijd om de gerechten toe te lichten. Prima prijs/kwaliteit verhouding.

We had a really nice evening with staff who really worked together. And created a nice atmosphere. Moreover, the food was really tasty. All in all a big 10!!

We would have eaten there with 4 people and, based on a recommendation, we took the sample platter with 5 stews and six side dishes. Everything was sufficient and very tasty. You can specify how many meat, fish or vegetarian stews there should be. Since the restaurant was just celebrating its 12 1/2 year anniversary, there was champagne on the house. There was also bread with tapenade and butter beforehand. We would definitely come back again.
