I was here and reserved a place and even though I saw empty seats upstairs which I politely asked, the waitress declined and then two white folks came in with no reservations and he let them sit upstairs, I left for a better restaurant because this is my money I am spending at your place and you wouldn’t talk rudely because of my skin color

I went to Sugo today, what a horrible experience. At first glance, it looked very cold, and it was literally a chilly place. I kept my coat on; it was so cold in there. A young man with glasses working there was extremely rude! We ordered a cappuccino and a coffee. We thought there wasn't enough coffee in the cup and asked the young man if that was normal. He made a very strange face and said, "This is how we serve coffee." We told him there wasn't enough, to which he replied, "You're acting like I put something in it!" So we just let it happen and waited for our first course. It was very good, and the salad was delicious. Then we got the pizzas on a thin crust, dry and cold. We didn't say anything about it! The fact that each person only gets one pizza for the second round was new to me! I pointed this out to the young man with glasses! To which I got the response, "I told you so, don't tell me I didn't do that." So rude and disrespectful, and he wanted to have the last word. When I tried to speak to his manager, he said, "Go ahead and join in the conversation" while I was explaining it to his "employer." He was also a strange guy who kept harping on, "I don't understand what you're saying in Dutch," which wasn't even the issue, but the fact that his employee was rude and wanted the last word. He just wouldn't budge! If he keeps this up, you won't have any customers left. I wouldn't recommend going there.

If you're in Rotterdam and craving pizza, this is the perfect place. Different types of pizza by the slice, all super delicious. A little expensive compared to what we find in Italy, but definitely in line with the city's prices.

Sugo is one of my favorite discoveries in Rotterdam. The pizza al taglio is light, fresh and really tasty. You can even share a plate and try different flavors, which makes it fun. Coffee here is fantastic have Decaf which is a problem in Rotterdam somehow, and the fact they open early is a lifesaver, especially if you’re staying at NH Atlanta next door (they don’t have a coffee lounge, so this place is a perfect replacement). The design is modern and fresh, eyes clean. staff are super kind and helpful, and there’s even an outside terrace where on warm days you catch a nice breeze through the street. Relaxed atmosphere, good food, great coffee, good people watching spot. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you❤️

The service was really super friendly and great! The pizza was delicious, and I love the concept of being able to order slices from different pizzas! The Nuttelamisu was absolutely delicious!! Spacious and quiet restaurant (with air conditioning)!

The atmosphere is sterile but pleasant, clean, and inviting. Very friendly and helpful staff, the pizza was tasty but not "WOW"-y, and the salad was very good. Pricey for a pizzeria and the size of the dishes served. More for gourmets than for the faint of heart.

This was a nice place, we split a very delicious pizza with an ultralight crust and also a salad that was very generous. My only complaint was they didn't serve tap water and we had to buy water. But that wasn't explained when my partner ordered water, the server brought us the bottle without telling us they didn't have tap water. I realize this is common in Europe, just like to be told in advance. Otherwise, nice atmosphere and delicious pizza.

Our plan was to go to another Italian restaurant but apparently this one is closed on Sunday & Monday. Then quickly looked for a replacement and I think our choice could not have been better. A nice, atmospheric place with delicious food and super friendly staff. Pictures speak for themselves, definitely worth repeating.

I visited Sugo with a colleague shortly before closing time and we ate our pizzas while the hosts were preparing for closing. The atmosphere was relaxed, the taste of the pizza pleasantly surprised me, the friendly demeanour of the hosts felt nice and even though they got my order wrong, they didn’t add the mistake to the bill. I should definitely visit again and try different kinds of their pizzas.

Absolutely disappointing experience. We walked into this pizza-by-the-slice place, and despite the restaurant being completely empty except for one large group reservation (60 people, as we were told), they told us we'd have to wait one to one and a half hours for a slice of pizza. Let me ask: who in their right mind would wait that long for a slice of pizza? Especially at a place that’s meant to be quick — that’s the whole concept of pizza al taglio. They knew they had a large group booked, so they should have been prepared. It’s not like this was a surprise. Honestly, I have no words. I won’t be coming back, and I can’t recommend this place to anyone.

We were there with 57 people and enjoyed excellent pizza boards and antipasti. A definite recommendation. Many thanks to the team.

If you want to wait half an hour for a slice of pizza, have a very unpleasant waitress, and another who realizes after 30 minutes that she got your order wrong, then this restaurant is perfect for you

ive eaten here a few times and it was pretty good, but today I ordered from here and the pizza tasted really bitter, then we realized its extremely burnt, and was inedible. I don’t know what happened, but won’t be going back.

It was really really tasty. At first we thought the portion was really small, but in the end we were really full. Priced like anywhere else in Rotterdam. The truffle salami pizza was very tasty

La pizza es algo muy personal, así que soy un poco tímido acerca de ser demasiado duro. Pero esto era más como un pan plano con coberturas; no había nada notable en él. Como se señala en el sitio web , la corteza es más de una textura suave y masticable, bastante gruesa. Pedimos un pesto y pizza de pollo y el pollo era muy escaso. Got vouchers on social deal.. 45 mins from entry time we got the starters.. And our pizza came in 30 minutes from there... My appetite had pretty much died down by the time food came in... The pizza base is not the best The only pizza I liked was the Caprese.. Small portions and the slowest service 🥲 All in all would definitely not recommend on weekends...

Delicious pizzas, good taste. And easy to take many different types

Onvriendelijk personeel en slechte restaurantomstandigheden De pizza's waren matig van kwaliteit en veel te duur in verhouding tot wat je krijgt. Het restaurant is gevestigd in een oud pand in Rotterdam. Hoewel de verwarming flink aan staat, zorgt het enkele glas ervoor dat je toch een koude tocht voelt. De luchtvochtigheid binnen is erg hoog, waardoor de tafels klam aanvoelen – en na verloop van tijd je huid ook. De ventilatie was duidelijk ondermaats: er hing een blauwe walm in de lucht. Ik kreeg er prikkende ogen en benauwdheid van, en de volgende dag had ik last van droge en geïrriteerde ogen. Bij het bestellen van drankjes hebben we direct het voor- en hoofdgerecht besteld. Na het hoofdgerecht moesten we tussen de anderhalf en twee uur wachten op de tweede ronde pizza’s. In die tijd kwam er niemand langs onze tafel, dus we hebben zelf iemand aangesproken. Mijn vriendin had aanvankelijk twee slices besteld, maar besloot nog een derde toe te voegen – in de hoop dat we anders weer zo lang zouden moeten wachten. Uiteindelijk kwam alleen die laatste pizza vrij snel, maar de rest niet. Er bleek iets fout te zijn gegaan met het uitprinten van de bon. De enige Nederlandse medewerker liet de bon van de laatste pizza zien, waarop mijn vriendin wilde aangeven dat we ook nog andere dingen besteld hadden. Ze werd echter onbeleefd onderbroken en kon haar zin niet afmaken. De bestelling was dus niet goed doorgekomen – dat kan natuurlijk gebeuren, maar een simpel excuus zou op zijn plaats zijn geweest. Toen de rest van de bestelling uiteindelijk kwam, sprak ik hem aan op de lange wachttijd. Zijn reactie was laconiek: "Ja, is toch fout gemaakt?" en vervolgens "Ja, is een hele grote groep, had je vandaag niet moeten komen." Toen ik aangaf dat een excuus toch niet teveel gevraagd was, kregen we met een zure toon een "Nou, sorry hoor dames" te horen. Toen ik aangaf dat het niet oprecht klonk, liep hij boos weg met een "Joh, doei," en iets wat ik niet goed kon verstaan. We hebben het dessert overgeslagen en zijn vertrokken – om nooit meer terug te komen.

Unfriendly staff and poor restaurant conditions The pizzas were mediocre in quality and way too expensive for what you get. The restaurant is located in an old building in Rotterdam. Although the heating is on a lot, the single glass ensures that you still feel a cold draft. The humidity inside is very high, which makes the tables feel clammy – and over time, so does your skin. The ventilation was clearly inadequate: there was a blue smoke in the air. It gave me stinging eyes and stuffiness, and the next day I suffered from dry and irritated eyes. When ordering drinks, we immediately ordered the starter and main course. After the main course we had to wait between one and a half and two hours for the second round of pizzas. At that time no one came by our table, so we approached someone ourselves. My friend had initially ordered two slices, but decided to add a third - hoping otherwise we would have to wait that long again. In the end, only that last pizza came quite quickly, but the rest did not. It turned out that something went wrong while printing the receipt. The only Dutch employee showed the receipt for the last pizza, after which my girlfriend wanted to indicate that we had also ordered other things. However, she was rudely interrupted and was unable to finish her sentence. So the order had not gone through properly - that can of course happen, but a simple apology would have been appropriate. When the rest of the order finally came, I spoke to him about the long wait. His response was laconic: "Yes, a mistake was made, wasn't it?" and then "Yes, it's a very large group, you shouldn't have come today." When I indicated that an apology was not too much to ask, we were told in a sour tone, "Well, sorry ladies." When I indicated that it didn't sound sincere, he walked away angrily with a "Hey, bye," and something I couldn't quite hear. We skipped dessert and left – never to return.

We had really looked forward to dinner at Sugo, but we were disappointed. The service was downright bad: more than an hour after the starter, we had not received our main course. During this period, no one from the service had been with us. Only when we spoke to the service did it turn out that they had forgotten us. It can happen, but no apology was given. In fact, according to the service, we should have come in before the large group. Stupid of us, of course, as customers we should have checked in advance who had made a reservation in the restaurant to be able to judge whether Sugo had sufficient capacity…..! The food was quite tasty, but certainly not worth the money. The carpaccio (11.25 euros) consisted of a minimal amount of meat, a sprinkle of cheese and a huge mountain of lettuce. The pizzas were okay, but very small and quite sparsely topped for 15.50. The atmosphere/space was also really not okay. Due to poor ventilation, the tables and the wooden bench were sticking. After 2.5 in the room our faces were sticky!!! In addition, the upstairs was blue from the smoke from cooking, which made our eyes hurt. We have never had such a bad experience and will definitely not come back here.

Went to eat with 5 people via social deal, had to wait half an hour for the dish due to insufficient staff. After this we could only order pizza once because of the 2 hour time limit. 2x staff really did their best.

We had an unpleasant experience at Sugo Rotterdam Westblaak. Upon receiving the bill, we were surprised to find a €17.50 charge for tap water. We were a group of 10 and only noticed this charge after reviewing the bill. While I understand that the cost of living is rising and that restaurant owners are facing increasing expenses, this charge felt excessive—especially considering we explicitly asked for tap water. Other restaurants in the neighborhood may charge for filtered bottled tap water, which is already debatable, but this felt misleading. As a customer, I felt deceived and will not come back. Transparency and honesty go a long way, and unfortunately, this experience left a sour impression.

Unfortunately, the prawns in garlic oil were disappointing, because the garlic could hardly be tasted. ⭐ Atmosphere: 3/5 The restaurant has a nice decor and a cozy atmosphere. However, the smoke smell lingers, causing irritated eyes and a less pleasant experience. ⭐ Service: 2/5 The service left much to be desired. We had to grab cutlery from another table ourselves because it was not brought. In addition, the wrong pizza was served, and the second round of drinks never arrived. Conclusion: SUGO serves good pizzas and has a nice atmosphere, but the service could really be better. Small improvements, such as more attention to orders and ventilation, would make the experience a lot more pleasant.

Not your typical pizza place. More flatbread kinda pizza. Ask about size for big eaters 😅. Friendly staff and plenty of options on the menu.

Very great italian restaurant with perfectly made pizzas. I would highly recommend holy canoli for dessert if you like sweet. Pizza chef/bartender sergio is the best and his charisma gives this place a great experience!

What a nonsense about the pizza base! If you are going to eat somewhere, be prepared, because this is not regular pizza! The 1st time Sugo for us. Friendly welcome and delicious food. Service suggested a tasting and that was fine! Appetizer meatballs in tomato sauce and flatbread. Also tasty. All in all a successful introduction!

Super pizzeria very well located, in the heart of the historic center of Rotterdam at the foot of the EasyHotel. A very wide choice of pizza, all excellent because they are homemade. It also offers variations for vegetarians which seemed just as appetizing even if we preferred to find what we were looking for among the pizzas for carnivores like us!! The staff is both very helpful and constantly attentive. The manager, who is extraordinarily kind, allowed us to sit at the bar to benefit from a power outlet for our computer which we urgently needed, he was attentive and very helpful and categorically refused money when we wanted to compensate him for all his efforts which were of capital use to us. Thank you very much, we will return with great pleasure to the SUGO pizzeria to taste the succulent pizzas but also for the kindness of the whole team!!!

Heerlijke pizza's, toen we binnen kwamen werd er gevraagd of we al eerder hier waren. En dat was niet zo dus kregen we de 'keuzestress' op het menu aanbevolen. Aardig personeel, lekker eten, en niet droog zoals de andere reviews zeggen. Ik raad Sugo zeker aan!

Wij werden warm en met een glimlach ontvangen.. De eigenaar gaf een goede tip, de geen keuze stress tip. Hij heeft ons verrast met heerlijke verschillende pizza’s. Ze waren gevarieerd en erg goed van smaak.. Zeker een aanrader..

Kerst avond hier gereserveerd, maar het was meer een afhaalrestaurant dan een gezellige pizzeria. Pizza’s vielen tegen, veel deeg met weinig topping. En de tiramisu was op, ondanks het restaurant bijna leeg was en nog vroeg. De hoge ratings waren helaas misleidend, gelukkig nog met de kinderen het diner afgesloten bij Pizzeria Beppe op Witte de With met o.a. huisgemaakte Tiramisu.

Ordered pizza and had it delivered to the hospital. The pizza was downright dirty. The base is more like a ciabatta bread of 2.5 cm thick and barely topped (the arugula is still kind of plentiful). It had a very bitter taste and for >20€ you get 8 square pieces. I don't understand the good reviews.

We didn't know what we wanted to eat, the gentleman recommended us the 'choice stress' menu. We got a board with all different pieces of pizza, and that was delicious!

It said that Sugo west Blaak will be open on Sunday at 11:30 am. Reserved via website at 12:30. Didn't open until 3:00 PM.

On Wednesdays you can eat unlimited slices here for an apple and an egg, great for a nice chat. A pot of tiramisu afterwards for a reasonable price was also good.

Man oh man, these pizzas were delicious. I was a little worried when I saw only 6 pieces of pizza on my plate, but I was full when I left the store. Staff was very friendly and chill, even though something went wrong with ordering. Very good!

Such a cute indoor/ outdoor vibe! The concept is smart, and the roman style pizza was delicious. You can purchase by the slice or by three; mix and match is also an option. I chose the Truffle Salami, it was exceptional! It's a little pricey for three pieces, but you can certainly share it with someone and still be fully satisfied. I was so hungry that I lacked the on taking pictures. I'll be back to take more next time!

On a saturday evening I arrived at 8:30 pm to have dinner and I was literally told to go to another place because they were closing. The closing time on the site is 10pm.... !!! Not to mention the total disinterest and disrespect ot the staff !!!

I was picking up an order here for thuisbezorgd and the guy told me it would be a 12 minute wait. I then asked him if there was anything i could buy that would be immediately ready and he said yes. When i picked out what i wanted he said he’d give me one of the 2 slices for free to make up for the long wait! I haven’t even had it yet but i already know im coming back for the amazing vibes and hospitality.

Very good pizzas with lots of choices available. They are all tasty and well stocked 2 to 3 portions per person are enough, which is the equivalent of around 15 to 17 euros, pretty good price Expect a fairly long wait to be served A bit noisy restaurant

Not what it used to be. Some bread was shoved into your mouth; that was actually more tasty than the pizzas. Pizzas were meager, bad and tasteless toppings. Sauce on carpaccio felt cheap... It was all big MEH. 😑 Service and atmosphere were just great 👍 But no more sugo for us.

The place is informal and warm. It has a great variety and you can choose several flavor options that I thought were original.

I like the place and the calories/protein information on the menu. I like thicker pizza, but this particular one was a bit too dry with certain toppings. I took 4 different slices: truffle and mushrooms, chicken and pesto, fromaggi and caramelised walnuts and onion. Chicken and walnut versions were ok, but two others could definitely use some extra sauce.

Found on the map because it was identified as an Italian restaurant/pizzeria, but it had very little Italian, light and crunchy pizza but nothing special, a slice €3.80, high prices in line with the country, but apart from the margherita we didn't have the courage to try it , poor tiramisu 5, service and place acceptable all in all for a quick lunch or dinner.

SUGO is a unique experience for trying different pizza’s. Waiters are friendly and on Wednesday they have an all you can eat option available. Don’t forget to make a reservation

We were a group of 8 from Toronto Canada area. Happened upon this restaurant we were all very impressed with the excellent food and staff that we returned the next evening. Great reception and again excellent meal. Special praise for our server who is also the manager. Great hospitality and great fun. Highly recommend.

Eating takes a long time, everything takes an extremely long time. I'm someone who eats something quickly and then eats it again, but the service is so slow.

Ordered margarita pizzas, and they were sadly among the worst pizzas we’ve had in a while. Rubbery cheese, flavorless sauce, and crust was underbaked and tasted like a propane grill.

It was a very cozy pizza (and not only) place, the service was very pleasant and professional, the redefined lamb kebab and pancetta and parmesan pizzas were so delicious! We also had tiramisu and cheesecake in a jar for dessert and couldn't recommend it enough either. Will definitely come back again. :)

Chicken and pesto pizza tasted great, very juicy with a crispy bottom and plenty of flavour. One portion is definitely big enough for two people, so the price also ends up being reasonable. Service was friendly and attentive. I also like that they organise their menu based of the healthiness level of the pizzas.

Went for dinner for the first time yesterday, because they have a nice promotion: unlimited Wednesday. We sat down and it was neatly explained to us how we could order. Before the first round, the employee often came up to ask if everything was okay. We indicated that everything was fine and that our first round was tasty. Then we wanted to order again and to my surprise no one came to us to take our order. I can understand that it can be busy, but if you have a good promotion taking place, you can expect that it will be busy and you still have to provide good service, right? Then the same employee sat down with a number of customers (young ladies), chatted and had a few drinks with them. We were surprised and asked the other employees whether someone else would serve us, but unfortunately that did not happen. Then we left. Food is fine, but service is lacking, it's a shame because of this experience you will no longer see us at the Blaak location.

We recently had dinner at Sugo Pizza in Rotterdam with a group of 10 and it was great! The service was top notch, the staff was friendly and professional, and the food was delicious. Highly recommended!
