Didn't meet my expectations. It's an average sushi restaurant like every other average sushi restaurant in Amsterdam, just more expensive. Sushi rice was less than average, salmon and tuna was good.

I had a great experience here! Everything I ordered was high quality and perfectly prepared. The sushi was fresh, rich in flavor and beautifully presented. The salmon nigiri and the sushi rolls with salmon eggs particularly stood out - you can really taste the freshness of the fish. The matcha was also a pleasant surprise: full, creamy and authentic in taste, something you rarely get. I also ordered the marinated chicken – super tender, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. A delicious addition to sushi and highly recommended for those looking for some variety. Sushi Fanatics fully deserves its name. Here you come for real quality and love for Japanese food. I'll definitely be back!

The sushi was indeed very good. The fish quality was excellent, someone paid lots of attention to selecting the right fish. The rice was japanese or very similar, which is rare to find, as lots of sushi places use low quality rice. Overall very good sushi. We had the sushi mix, recommended. They also have impressive sake selection. The sitting upstairs was a bit too basic, one long table shared with other people, like in a cheap eatery. The sitting downstairs was cute.

This is my best sushi place on earth! After so many countries, woah, this is the best. And matcha 💚 and I almost don’t want to tell anyone about matcha tart how good it is, so that it’s not sold out 🤭 and we also stayed for dinner once, I love the low-keyness of the place, yet very authentic.

Very small shop, the tables outside are very old and wobble extremely, which meant my soy sauce didn't stay in the bowl... 🙃 The food was good, although my tempura shrimp arrived lukewarm. The menu (at least the QR code version) is also quite confusing, or there are simply no simple descriptions for most of the dishes.

We had high expectations for this place but were disappointed. The chicken gyozas and the dragon roll were great. Try them for sure. But for the prices they are asking the sushi is just ok. The Crazy Tuna roll was so chewy we could not eat it. Not recommended. We left it on the table. See photo. And the yellow tail nigiri was rubbery and also not nice. The warm saki came cold. ? They call themselves “sushi fanatics” but there was little that felt like anyone here was being fanatical about making great. Also, it’s quite expensive. We paid 135 euros for three of us for a late lunch, and to be honest we didn’t order that much. We won’t be back.

I had a reservation for one, but when I arrived, I was told I’d have to share a table with three strangers. This was never mentioned when I booked. I found it completely unprofessional and uncomfortable, so I decided not to dine there at all. If I had been told otherwise, I would have taken that into consideration or requested a different arrangement. It was never communicated to me that the seating would involve sharing space in such a way. Additionally, I must disagree with your description of my behavior. At no point was I rude—I remained calm, polite, and spoke respectfully to your staff throughout the interaction, I respectfully and quitely leave the restaurant. I truly don’t understand why such a claim was made, If your team felt I was being rude, I would appreciate knowing specifically what I said or did that was interpreted that way, or provide evidence of that. Also, if the restaurant was already fully booked, as you mentioned, customers should not be able to make a reservation through your website. That is entirely the restaurant’s responsibility, and it caused avoidable frustration. It’s unfair to blame the customer for issues arising from your own booking system.

The waitress stared me down as I waited by the door until I realized she was not going to acknowledge me unless I walked up to her. She then seated my father and I in the corner. She showed no emotion as we wondered out loud how we would get into our seats with the neighboring table an inch away from ours. I suppose it was our problem and not hers. You order through a QR code on the table which really made service nonexistent. The nigiri was decent but was nothing to write home about. The maki rolls were worse. I would not think about coming back here to dine again unless I want to be glared at by some twenty-something year old.

ABSOLUTELY ENJOYED IT. Been really struggling to find a good sushi place in Amsterdam (that is not a takeaway shop or a super expensive omakase restaurant), and this place is such a gem. Fresh and good quality sushi, but still reasonably priced. We received very friendly and attentive service (Ayami was the sweetest), and also enjoyed the cosy ambience on the tatami mats upstairs!

As a sushi lover, I can say this is an authentic Japanese restaurant. I was a little disappointed when I first arrived because my husband and I were sitted by the entertance of the restaurant. There were a few tiny tables and the stools were uncomfortable. I asked if we could be sitted inside, but they said I had to indicate that when we made a reservation. Next time, I'll ask to be sitted by the sushi bar. You scan a QR code and order your food. The food comes out pretty fast. They have a good selection of sake as well. When you make a reservation, it would be helpful of the restaurant would explain different types of sittings.

🚨 Valentine’s Nightmare 🚨 What was supposed to be a romantic sushi night turned into chaos, hunger, and a waste of a lot of time & money! We had a 2-hour reservation, but after 1.5 hours of waiting (and two rounds of drinks), we asked and were told our food order NEVER went through—even though our drinks from the same order arrived immediately?.. No staff even questioned why we had no food as they brought our second round of drinks with 75% of our time already gone. And it wasn’t just us—everyone in the restaurant was getting nervous, having waited over an hour with no food. It was clear the place couldn’t handle the business. We booked a month in advance, they knew it was a fully booked holiday, yet no one got their food on time—and they were still doing takeaway orders! 😩 When we demanded a full deposit refund, they refused. Instead, they still charged €12 for hojicha but graciously skipped our second-round Coke (which my partner desperately ordered because he was getting lightheaded from low blood sugar) and the tiny 80-cent glass of tap water. We could’ve argued longer, but every wasted minute meant more Amsterdam parking fees down the drain. The manager was nowhere to be found on this busy holiday, and at some point, they even stopped answering their staff’s desperate calls. After another 25 minutes of waiting, we got back €8 in a pile of heavy small change—and left starving, frustrated, and with a ruined/no Valentine’s dinner. The waitress was laughing happily at the bar with her colleagues and eating gyoza though :) ⚠️ Would NOT recommend. Absolute disaster.

Absolute chaos. • 6:00 PM reservation. Arrived 5:55 PM, seated on time. • Ordered at 6:08 PM. No WiFi, service was awful. • Drinks came in 10 min. A hojicha (€11), a Coke (€3.50), and a cup of filtered tap water (€0.80). • Waited 90 MINUTES. No food. Nothing. Just us staring at an empty table. No waiter checked upon us. • Asked a waiter – our order NEVER even reached the kitchen. 🤯 Manager’s “solution”? • Remove the Coke + water from the bill. Wow. • If we reordered, another 30-40 min wait – but hey, free sake (which I couldn’t drink because I was driving). Other tables were leaving too. Even getting our deposit refunded took 20 more minutes. 🚨 Final damage: ✅ €15 wasted on parking ✅ €11 down the drain for hojicha ✅ €20 spent elsewhere just to actually eat ✅ A ruined Valentine’s Day ⚠️ This place crumbled under the pressure of a busy night. 2nd round the scallop nigiri tasted and smelled quite bad. The moment I put it in my mouth, literally had to spit it out in a napkin. My bf came to the bar and told the waitress, they seemed to be surprised hearing that, said gonna check and come back with an explanation. Around 10 mins later, one of the waitresses came and spoke Dutch to my bf (I don’t speak Dutch), loosely translation she said she checked with the kitchen and there is nothing wrong with the scallops, it tasted and smelled different is because of different suppliers! The waitress just shook her head and said no, there was nothing wrong, just different suppliers different taste and smell. I am disappointed with the rotten scallop but people can make mistakes, as long as you fix it and own up to it. However I give 1 star because of the waitress’s attitude and extremely unprofessional. Not even one apology to us as well as the waitresses ignoring all the complaints from us and justifying it with “different suppliers different taste and smell” explaination.

One of the best restaurants in Amsterdam to get a really fresh Sushi. 🍣 My recommendation is to try the Baka Salmon roll and the Rainbow dragon maki. Everything is just so fresh ⭐ I'd recommend booking a table in advance.

Sushi was amazing, however the service and restaurant experience leave a lot to be desired. I really wish a place revolving so around sushi would serve some miso soup but that was missing from the menu. Coffee was also not served there. The restaurant is also really really cold now in the winter. It doesn't help that the seating downstairs is located right next to door that is constantly opened for take-away service. It also doesn't help that the seating isn't very comfortable or very accessible. Lastly the staff were friendly but seemed quite aloof, and the phone ordering system is in my opinion a bit gimmicky for the money that you pay. Again the food was great but I will likely not return due to the sub-par restaurant experience. It's unfortunate to see such nice food be held back by a gimmicky restaurant concept.

TL;DR: Some really good, unique menu items, but because of value for money and service won't be going back. They clearly understand good sushi, it's unlike the "westernized" sushi that you see at SUMO or such, but it must be mentioned that the prices definitely match. Unfortunately we received chicken karage that was raw and cold inside and didn't receive any discount/offer for drink on the house or such, just a new dish. Generally very understanding but raw chicken is one where the 'apology' didn't match the 'crime'. It was also a shame to hear the staff talk badly about another customer that left, since it's a pretty quiet atmosphere you can pretty much hear everything.

I really enjoy the sushi here. While it doesn’t quite compare to what I’ve experienced in Japan, for Amsterdam, this is a very good sushi spot. However, the service leaves much to be desired. I’ve been here at least 9-12 times, and every single time I’ve asked for extra wasabi and ginger, my request was forgotten. I had to repeat myself, and in the end, I was charged for the extra wasabi and ginger. It took me a long time to write this review because I do believe the chefs do an excellent job preparing the sushi. Unfortunately, the service staff often seems unaware of customers and can come across as unfriendly. That being said, on my last visit, a girl (who I believe was a native English speaker) provided great service—she was attentive and friendly, a nice contrast to the rest of the team who never seem ready to offer an excellent customer service experience. Additionally, they never automatically offer tap water—you always have to ask for it! As for pricing, the sushi is reasonably priced, but the drinks are extremely overpriced, which may be linked to the high cost of matcha. Overall, despite its ups and downs, I believe this sushi place offers some of the best sushi in Amsterdam and has become my go-to spot for sushi in the city.

The nigiri’s are by far the best I've ever had! the fish is incredibly fresh, and the balance between the fish and rice is just perfect. Every bite was a delight, and you can tell they put real care into the preparation. What also stood out were their matcha drinks and desserts. If you're a fan of matcha, you'll love their selection. The matcha desserts were the perfect sweet finish to an already amazing meal. Great food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back!

Ordered sushi for €125, more than double the price compared to a delivery chain. If the quality had been like that: completely fine. But it was very mediocre. Absolute quality 3/5: - the tuna maki had soft nori (not fresh) - overcooked rice without bite at the rolls The toro - both the nigiri and the very tuna rolls - is by far the lowest quality fatty tuna we have ever eaten: almost skinny and with membranes that should have been cut away. Instead of a treat to celebrate something, this almost became a gallows meal, as the expensive poor quality dampened our mood. Due to the high price for the mediocre quality a 2.

After all the rave reviews we had to try this restaurant! We got a table upstairs at a zataku (low Japanese table), which was a nice authentic experience. However, keep in mind that for taller people, like my friend, it may become a little less comfortable after a while. The staff was friendly, but not very involved, which I missed. You can easily call them via your telephone. The sushi was absolutely fantastic! Every bite was fresh and the fish literally melted in your mouth. Definitely the best sushi I've ever had! Highly recommended: the Baka Salmon. A small disappointment was that at the Nigiri Sushi Moriawase we were not given any explanation about which types of fish were on the nigiri, so we sometimes did not know what we were eating. But all in all a wonderful experience and definitely worth it!

We stopped for lunch, the sushi is decent but not the best, it's à la carte so you tend to spend a little, two of us spent €50. Service a little slow. Nice atmosphere but I recommend booking to get a comfortable table.

One of the good sushi’s we have tried so far in the Netherlands / Amsterdam. We came here few times and was not disappointed! If I have to mention something, it would be the service. The waiters were mostly cold and unwelcoming, making the dining experience really uncomfortable. The customer sitting next to us was waiting at the table 15 min+ without any menu, and eventualy we shared our menu with them. It was also dissapoiting that our edamame was served rather undercooked. There is a room for a lot more improvement, but the sushi was exeptional. I hope for future improvement! :)

We were a bigger group who Just wanted to share, But when we asked the staff to put together something for six people they couldn’t so we had to pick and choose. The variety is not that big in Terms of kaburamaki. It’s like they were only specialized in nigiri. Mediocre sushi.

I’ve been a regular of Sushi fanatics for a while now and I’ve continued to come back for the quality of the food. However, I came for late lunch around 3pm today on a Sunday and the service was particularly poor. The current staff working seemed young, inexperienced, and disorganized. The sushi was solid but the service tainted the experience. It’s a pity because I’ve loved coming here in the past, hopefully this was a one off and that the service will improve again

Absolute 10. The place is cute, the service fast and charming. Premium quality sushi, the best Otoro Tuna Nigiri I have ever tasted. It is located in a very quiet residential neighborhood near a park. Recommended.

One of the best sushi in Amsterdam for price/quality. I order here once per month and it never disappoints. The texture of the fish is as it should be, the rice is not cold but at temperature, the have a lot of different varieties of seafood and the price is very reasonable. I highly recommend.

Firstly, this is not a Japanese place, so don’t be fooled by the name. Secondly, the sushi was ok but the rice wasn’t the same as sushi rice, so it didn’t taste very authentic. Thirdly, the ramen soup was tasteless, as was the fried chicken. The beef and ramen noodles were nice, though. Finally the service was practically non-existent - bear in mind that this is mostly used as a take away and phone order establishment and you might understand why.

Ordered online for collection, but upon arrival it appears that it no longer exists or is under renovation. Fortunately, the Pay Contact option was checked, otherwise I would have lost my money (now only my time).

Today we ate here with three people. We had the crispy chicken sushi. It was delicious. However, a few hours later our daughter started throwing up and it didn't stop. Not much later we also got nauseous, got stomach cramps and started having diarrhea. We spent the rest of the day on the toilet. So if you don't want to get sick I advise you to avoid Rolling Sushi!
