Large playground, outside on the terrace, it was busy and the weather was nice, had to ask twice where the pancakes were, had to wait an hour after ordering

Great location after a walk with the dogs. Also very child-friendly, certainly thanks to the large playground with various play equipment. We only had a drink, but food is also available here. Friendly staff and excellent service.

We came here early one evening after a long walk with our dog in the neighbouring woods. The place was practically empty. We sat outside an made ourselves comfortable. A friendly, welcoming lady took, firstly our drinks order and then we chose our food. I went for the spare ribs and my wife had a cheese, ham and bacon pancake. I would recommend offering some BBQ sauce as an accompaniment to the ribs in the future. As a dessert we shared a plate of fairly dry poffertjes. It was a pity that they didn't have more guests but I suppose that they are a bit isolated. I expect that this place is especially popular with families with young kiddies as they have a very large and extensive play area in the grounds. By the time that we had finished, a gentleman discreetly followed us off the premises and shut up shop for the night.

A pancake house with a nice play area for children. However, the service was very poor. We had to wait more than an hour for our food (it was a bit busier upon arrival), and during that hour, no one came to take our drink order or indicate how much longer it would take. All in all, the service was a major disappointment, and the wait for the food wasn't necessarily worth it.

The service is not very attentive and slow. Only the pancakes are tasty; the rest could be better! All the furniture and climbing equipment are dated (it could really use some sprucing up and brightening up for the kids).

What a lovely place to relax. There is plenty of play area for children. We especially enjoyed the food, and the ladies were very friendly. Highly recommended!

Even though they were unreachable by phone and reservations were not possible, the four of us drove there and had a delicious meal with fantastic service. The atmosphere was also good, with a rustic interior.

Always fun to go there with children

It's terrible. For weeks now, the entire play area has been closed off with fences. There is no signage anywhere, just when you think you're going to have a nice time playing with the kids. Nothing is being done about it. When will this be fixed?!?!?!

Very pleasant to have lunch here. Quality and price match. Especially fun for children, with a playground and a huge bouncy castle. Parking is free, though along a busy road.

A nice day at BOZ T’Appeltje, but no, half of it is closed off with a fence, during the school holidays no less...!!! We came all the way from far away specifically for this playground, and saw nothing about it on social media channels…… our whole day ruined. Otherwise, we would have gone to another playground. At least mention it on social media. How much longer is this joke going to last????

Today we spent the day at the playground at ‘t Appeltje. Unfortunately, a large section was closed off, apparently due to maintenance. I heard from other people that the equipment had been condemned for safety reasons. We heard a lot of people complaining. Why this part of the playground is closed during many children's holidays. It's a shame that this wasn't announced on social media.

Super safe playground, screws sticking out everywhere causing children to play a bit more carefully

Last time we were here, people smoked everywhere on the terrace, we stopped coming for a while. Now there's a smoking are far from the kids. So it's ok. But sometimes people have to wait so long to get inside, and there are empty tables outside, inside. We got in early, so we don't have to line up, but I feel so sorry for those with kids and have to wait for 20 minutes to get in, other than that everything else were great. Good food, nice atmosphere, friendly staffs.

A beautiful location to celebrate something or to meet after a funeral service. There's a dedicated space for this. Well-organized. The staff is well-trained. Polite and well-mannered.

We come here regularly and love it. The kids love playing here, and we enjoy the lovely terrace. The only real downside is having to step off the terrace to get to the playground; it's a real risk. Delicious pancakes! The service varies; the regulars are friendly and quick, but ordering during busy days is less convenient. The coffee at funerals is absolutely undrinkable.

DRAMA there!! It took ages for their order to be taken, even though we called out several times!! People who came after us had already had their drinks, and we hadn't!! They just kept going, even though it wasn't that busy. I wonder what it's like on weekends, but they'll NEVER see me there again. I should have just kept going!!!

Restaurant Het Appeltje in Bergen op Zoom is a fantastic venue! We've rented a room here twice already to celebrate a birthday or a party with the whole family, and both times we had a fantastic time. It's cozy, well-organized, and perfect for groups. The staff is friendly, the food and drinks are well-prepared, and everything is reasonably priced. There's a fun outdoor playground for the kids, where they can have fun with all the toys. In short: a perfect location in Bergen op Zoom for a fun party or family gathering. Thank you, Het Appeltje!

Very disappointed with the “boerenpannenkoek& kaas” I ordered. I can’t believe they just put frozen green beans, carrots, corns mix inside pannenkoek! Not professional compared with the other Dutch pancake restaurants I visited. Hope can be improved!

I come here very regularly; it's a beautiful place, and the playground is great for the kids. The pancakes are also delicious. I had a grilled cheese sandwich once, but it wasn't as good. The service is inconsistent.

We used to eat pancakes here often with my grandparents and the kids. It's a lovely spot in the woods with a playground. Now we're back with a family and our grown teenagers, but unfortunately, the food was terrible. The satay was okay, the schnitzel was small, but the burgers were awful, like a flat disc of processed meat. My plate went back to the kitchen full; a surprised waitress, but unfortunately, no one came to apologize or offer me a coffee on the house. Such a shame for this lovely spot!

A century-old establishment that's sclerotic in every way. Gluten-free crepes are available, but with a rubbery batter drenched in bacon fat!

Very bad food. Not really friendly

What a great playground for children! I haven't been inside, only on the terrace. There is a baby swing for the little ones and plenty of other fun to play with. Fast service. Also very nice is that they sell local products. I was very satisfied!

Fun for the children to play, there is something for every child, swing, climbing and sliding on the slide, jumping on the trampoline, cable car.

Super expensive for way too little food

Good afternoon, I would like to file a complaint about the dangerous dismount on your terrace. After a fun afternoon with a photo shoot in the forest as a whole family, we went for something to eat and drink on your terrace afterwards. We were having a drink and my wife went for a walk with her brother's baby because he needed to fall asleep. Suddenly we heard a loud thud and there she was lying on the street with the baby. Fell over the step onto the terrace. The baby hit his head very hard on the street and they are now at the emergency room in the hospital. My wife's leg had a serious abrasion. The entire family packed up and went home. End of nice afternoon. I would like to call on you to good entrepreneurship. I estimate that enough money is being made to tackle the paving and remove the step. There were four others in our family who had a near fall/sprained ankle with the same step. I won't be surprised if you get the first complaint about this. Also sent this by email but no response after a week. If you go here, be careful.

Very nice place, really an old-fashioned restaurant in a positive sense! With a nice enclosed playground. Unfortunately, they don't have lactose or cow's milk free pancakes, which is a real shame if you have an allergy! So if you are allergic to something, look for another restaurant.

Upon entering we were not received very hospitably, but we did not want to judge immediately. Drinks and drinks were absorbed quite quickly, but the food took quite a long time. Also, one of us only had our food 7 minutes later than the rest. One of the children thanked the hostess for putting down her drink, but she didn't even smile. This involved a dark-haired lady who wore a bun and had slightly tanned skin. Since we had ordered two children's pancakes, we would receive two coins for a present. Unfortunately, we had to go back for this after paying, because these were not given automatically. The moment we paid and walked outside, we met our 'hostess', as described above. Not a friendly smile or word came from her. I wished her a nice day, but there was no response to this either. This woman/girl is the epitome of unkindness. In any case, I wouldn't want someone like that walking around my restaurant. We will choose a different lunch spot next time...

Delighted dishes: smoked fish, eggs salad, fresh green salad with tomatoes, grilled salmon, beef steak it is tremendous good, the Chef served us a great Christmas meal and thank him ! Staff very friendly, approachable and assertive. I spend a very nice evening on the company Christmas feast.

Originally reviewed 5 yrs ago, google blocked review in error so reposting; Very nice place for young and old. Situated next to the city in a forest area it screams calm. There's a big fenced playground area in front to give your younguns time to run around and release some energy (so you can relax even more). This is part of the restaurant. 't Appeltje (the small apple) is a pancake/waffle house first, with the usual like look/interior (old barn) but they also serve other dishes. Had myself a steak which was prepped just right, good chefs working the kitchen. The staff serving drinks and food were very attentive and friendly. This has been a pleasant experience and would recommend it for a quick stop, lunch or evening meal.

Strange that smoking is allowed on the terrace of a children's playground. As far as I'm concerned, children and cigarettes don't go together. I read more comments about this, so owner: do something about it. The playground is beautiful, the staff friendly and fast. Our granddaughter enjoyed it. There is plenty of seating and even on a hot day like today (28 degrees) there was plenty of shade from the many trees. The location in the forest is excellent. Would like more vegetarian options.

Too bad there is smoking on the terrace. There are also children who play there. I think it's a shame that you try to enjoy delicious food in the smoke of others.

Incredibly bad, as is the name!

Now coming here for the second year to let grandchildren play. The benches outside are green with moss, they can clean this sometimes, especially after a rain shower, your clothes are green.

Upon entering we were approached and asked to find a seat. We then waited for fifteen minutes and no one had come by to take our order. Some waitresses were chatting at the bar. Unfortunately a lesser experience.

We had our party here on July 5. Great location!

Super location to stay with family with children

We had dinner and party evening here during our wedding. Was extremely well taken care of. The food was delicious and during the party no one was left wanting for anything due to the good service. And all this for a very good price. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a wedding location!

We always have a delicious meal here. Now Threw a big party for 44 people with a BBQ. Very well taken care of and it was explained in advance what the intention was and how it would go. To be repeated.
