The entire terrace was pleasantly full. The service is top-notch! They help you quickly, know the etiquette, and are very friendly. The food was also quick and delicious.

The crème brûlée served at the table was fantastic. Great fun. Wonderful chef with a sense of humor.

Terrible, it's open until 1 AM and I went at 11 PM, the waitresses wouldn't even let me sit down to get a drink of water because they said they weren't serving anything else.

Very poor quality! The "crispy" pork belly slice was not crispy, but a lump of fat on a soggy bun. Mediocrely garnished.

Location good Atmosphere good Food. Mediocre, especially if you order a sharing platter for 2 people that costs 26 euros; you are entitled to expect something for that. But who knows, maybe this is normal in Zaltbommel.

Our spring rolls were fried for so long that the flames must have caught in the pan. Rock hard and inedible. We did mention it to the wait staff, but they just said, "I'll pass it on to the chef." We had to pay the full price. It's a shame and a missed opportunity, because I won't be ordering anything there again if I ever go back at all.

Just good service and the sandwiches were generously filled.

Mini glasses of juice and the Italian roll was jazzed up with standard cheese slices and other ingredients from jars, prepared very quickly without love, and you could taste it. It could really be so much better.

I've visited twice in the past two weeks with a severe gluten allergy and significant cross-contamination sensitivity, and both times I left feeling completely at ease — and full. The cook, Geert-Jan, made all the difference. He understood immediately that cross-contamination was my concern, not just gluten ingredients, and he handled it with joy. He even brought my food out covered in plastic wrap to prevent contamination between the kitchen and the table. I had the pulled chicken club for lunch and the smash burger for dinner. Both were genuinely very tasty , not "safe option". Zero reactions either visit. The rest of the staff were warm, helpful, and never made me feel like an inconvenience for asking questions. For someone with a sensitive allergy, that matters as much as the food itself. Thrilled to have found a place in Zaltbommel I can eat at safely and comfortably. Highly recommend , especially if you're dealing with gluten or other food allergies and are tired of the guesswork.

There were 7 of us and we had something to discuss. It was quiet upstairs, so we chose that. Downstairs is a large terrace and, of course, the bar and some tables. The only minor downside: the first waitress said the veggie burger was a hamburger with avocado on it, but it was actually a veggie burger made with avocado. The mistake was corrected by the second waitress upon inquiry. That is important if you want to eat vegetarian 😉 Prompt service, and tasty beer/drinks

Stadscafe Zaltbommel (on the Market Square) has been a wonderfully pleasant location for years! It also boasts one of the most beautiful terraces in Zaltbommel! For years, it has been a trusted address for locals and many tourist visitors. Everyone is welcome here for coffee with delicious pastries, lunch, drinks, or dinner. Large groups are also welcome! They also organize fun group outings in and around Zaltbommel. It is truly worth a visit. In addition to the always fine and reliable menu, the current owner has now added delicious new items. For example, we savored 'Smashed avocado', sooo delicious with smoked salmon, spring onion, poached egg, and béarnaise sauce. Served with your choice of white or brown bread. Too tasty! We will be back soon to try the other new items as well! D&G

Nice location for a bite and a drink. Great staff. Here, they neatly turn the label on your bottle and the glass (in my case, a craft beer) towards you. The way it should be done. But something that is hardly ever done in the hospitality industry anymore. It is very good when staff do this. Top notch.

Enjoying the sun and watching other people

We regularly came back here for snacks and drinks. Last Saturday, the table was covered in empty glasses, so we immediately sat down. After no one came to us for 30 minutes, I asked if the glasses could be collected and the table, covered in sticky residue and crumbs, could be cleared for a fresh start. The employee didn't return, so we asked someone else who took our order again. When our drinks were finished, the first employee returned with a cloth. Frustrated, he threw new coasters on the table and said, "Now you can keep your table clean." Ridiculous, you won't see us again.

We went here specifically for the homemade apple pie. Personally, we didn't find it particularly special; we expected a bit more. The pastry was soft, whereas we prefer it a bit crispier, but that's a matter of taste, of course. The atmosphere and staff were very nice, and both the lunch and dinner menus looked excellent. I think it's definitely worth a try!

We didn't eat there, so I can't comment on that, but the atmosphere was good, and the servers were friendly. There were also games, and you weren't constantly being hounded to order drinks or food.

We stopped by this cafe to warm up nicely after a long motorcycle ride; the atmosphere was nice and cozy, and the staff is very friendly too! Nice little place.

Even in winter, it's lovely to sit on the sheltered terrace and enjoy coffee and apple pie. You're right in the heart of Zaltbommel's charming town center.

We dined with a group of 17 people, and it was well-organized! The staff was friendly and attentive; everything ran smoothly despite the large group. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. It's definitely recommended for a group!

We've never had such a bad meal. The shrimp croquettes, or anything passing for them, tasted burnt. The fries that came with it for an extra charge tasted like old fries that had been reheated. Fake Coca-Cola is served in mini glasses that are first filled with ice to reduce the amount you have to pour. This place is absolutely to be avoided.

The times that we Balinese people sat on the terrace of the Stadscafé with our friends on holiday in the Netherlands are worth remembering. Correct service, good food (especially the spinach) and despite the cold, a pleasant atmosphere with the other guests on the terrace. Keep it up!

We've been coming here for years, but lately there seems to be a lot of inexperienced staff. Long wait times, even though I think there are enough staff on the patio, both for taking orders and serving. Tables aren't being cleared. The staff is friendly, but simply inexperienced.

What an absolute disaster of a tearoom. From the moment you walk in, you feel unwelcome. The staff looks at you as if you're interrupting, and a smile is apparently forbidden here. The service is slow, disinterested, and downright rude. The tea? Lukewarm, tasteless, and clearly made from the cheapest supermarket bags. The pastries were dry, tasteless, and looked like they'd been out for days. Even a ready-made cake from the supermarket is better than what's served here. The hygiene is also seriously lacking: dirty tables, sticky chairs, and a toilet that makes you instantly nauseous. This place doesn't seem to care about customers and thrives on tourists who only come once. If you take yourself and your taste buds seriously: stay far away. Zaltbommel undoubtedly has better places to offer, but this is a downright disgrace to the city.

I reached out with a straightforward enquiry and, to their credit, they handled it exactly as one hopes: a clear, timely reply without any need for reminders. It sounds like a small thing, but it’s amazing how many businesses never manage it. Here, the communication was respectful, simple, and professional — no drama, no delay. That sort of attitude sets the tone and shows they take customers seriously. On that basis alone, they’ve earned my five stars.

Beautiful cafe and lovely terrace. Unfortunately, the terrace was so packed with tables and chairs that you were literally sitting chair to chair. Getting up without disturbing the neighbors behind you was impossible. Due to the crowds and likely understaffing, it took a long time before we could order. We had to be careful to get attention, otherwise we would have probably waited even longer. The service is certainly very friendly and seems to do what it can, so that's not the problem. Otherwise, the food was okay, but nothing more than that. The salad with teriyaki steak cubes was a small amount of iceberg lettuce chopped into small pieces, some bell peppers, and pickles with loads and loads of teriyaki sauce. The steak cubes were perfectly prepared, but all in all, I wouldn't call this a salad. Not enough greens, too much sauce.

A lovely place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a BOSSEBOL. 🙂 And enjoy the historic city center.

A grumpy schoolboy serving food who has turned insulting into an art. It's truly ridiculous that the owner doesn't intervene. The food is very mediocre. Bagged and standard fare. Something needs to change here, fast.

The food was very good. The staff took a while to arrive.

The menu said our toasted sandwiches were a decent size and generously topped. Well, they were certainly well-filled, but that size??? This was just a small toasted sandwich, for a hefty price.

We had a wonderful meal here. The food arrived quickly, and the service was very prompt and attentive. We also had a lovely spot on a comfortable bench. We could also choose from several vegetarian dishes, and what we chose was delicious and served very quickly (even though the terrace was 75% full). All in all, a great café where it's pleasant to relax. Highly recommended!

Excellent salads (Caesar with chicken and fish) served on the terrace. The atmosphere, with its sunny weather, the facades, the chairs, and the Bommel market, was perfect. Unfortunately, staff were scarce. One of the young ladies had no time for new guests while chatting with friends (?) on the terrace. Another was simply rude. And the third, friendly young lady had to limit herself to serving.

A small glass of cola with lots of ice cubes, so not much cola. The croquette sandwich was supposed to come on thick white rolls, but it turned out to be just plain bread from a bag. The taste was good, but the price/quality ratio wasn't right. They were good for the dog, though.

This morning I ordered two coffees: one with apple pie and one with cheesecake. The coffee was delivered with apple pie. The cheesecake was supposed to arrive two minutes later. I ran out of coffee and apple pie. Still no cheesecake. The coffee was lukewarm. And the apple pie was mediocre. The service was also mediocre. It was the first time and the last time.

The toasted sandwiches we ordered were a disappointment. On the menu, they were described as large, thick, and generously topped. In reality, they were thin slices of bread with a reasonable amount of toppings. Not nearly as promised. We commented on this. The server passed it on to the chef and the owner.

It's a real shame they only serve that awful Bavaria beer on tap. You'd expect them to have at least eight different beers on tap.

What a great place! The Stadscafé has a great cozy terrace in a nice location in the heart of Zaltbommel. The food is very good and freshly prepared, and the staff creates a warm and cozy atmosphere with their enthusiasm. Definitely recommended for a relaxing afternoon or evening out!

‘t Stadscafé op de Markt van Zaltbommel weet van wanten met prijs en product. Dertien dorstige fietsers bestellen op het aangename terras alvast vier grote flessen spa rood en de kaart om een drankje. De dienster komt effe later vertellen dat de grote flessen Sourcy op zijn en alleen nog kleine flesjes kunnen geleverd worden. Bizar verhaal dat nog raarder wordt wanneer ze met zwak parelend ( Sodastream?) gevulde glaasjes met een ijsblokje komt aanzetten. Zonder de dure flesjes van 3€! Wanneer de manager ter plekke om uitleg gevraagd wordt blijkt die net vertrokken. Dat Stadscafé lijdt aan een bizarre versie van Bommelse gootspoken.

The Stadscafé on the Markt in Zaltbommel knows what it is doing with price and product. Thirteen thirsty cyclists order four large bottles of sparkling water and the menu for a drink on the pleasant terrace. The waitress comes back a little later to tell us that the large bottles of Sourcy are gone and that only small bottles can be delivered. A bizarre story that becomes even stranger when she comes with weakly sparkling (Sodastream?) filled glasses with an ice cube. Without the expensive bottles of 3€! When the manager is asked on the spot, it turns out that he has just left. That Stadscafé suffers from a bizarre version of Bommelse gootspoken.

Very meh, unfriendly waitress. Food quite bland. With a gluten-free club sandwich you don't get any kind of sauce alternative, or a plain bun with chicken, bacon and egg salad is served. The 'generous' garnish was also missing, given the 2 slices of cucumber that were included. With a standard club sandwich some plain chips are served, there was no alternative for this either.

Cleaning the ice cappuccino machine on a 30 degree day. So I just order a smoothie, that's not possible. Just like the day before. Then remove it from your card. Just like the QR order code on the table that doesn't work. Making a profit but not investing. Bad business

Since the new owner a lot has changed, I mean in a bad way. This morning we waited for about 25 minutes for our order, in the meantime we asked for it twice. Unfortunately we only have 2 coffee machines. We left without consuming anything after the comment of the male employee. Advice, avoid this city cafe and drive to the dike, it is better arranged there.

Very bad cafe, got cold coffee several times, very unfriendly staff (except a few girls serving) just walked out again, because I had to wait more than half an hour for my coffee and in that time I already asked for it a second time. I would go to the cafe next door! Much friendlier and fresh apple pie.

Het eten is prima maar niet denderend. Op de menukaart staat dat bij alle hoofdgerechten friet, mayonaise en salade geserveerd word. Echter kreeg ik dit niet bij mijn spareribs (wat onder de hoofdgerechten stond). Ook na het gevraagd te hebben werd dit niet geserveerd of ik zou het extra moeten bijbestellen. De bediening was niet heel professioneel, maar oké. Het is een leuk terras op een mooie plek.

Mooi ruim terras, vriendelijke bediening. Echt heel lekkere en eenvoudige salade en burger gegeten. Iets om over na te denken. Ik ben niet de enige longpatiënt op uw terras. Ik zie er jong en gezond uit, maar ben dat niet. Op uw terras buiten wordt vrij veel gerookt. Niet alleen op uw terras hoor, ik ontkom er in de zomer nergens aan. Het gevolg voor mij: later die dag word ik heel benauwd, dat houdt dagen aan en ik heb veel meer medicijnen nodig om nog te kunnen functioneren. En als het toevallig echt mis gaat, beland ik in het ziekenhuis. Een klein door hoge plexischotten afgescheiden gedeelte waar niet gerookt wordt en ook geen rook naar kan overwaaien zou een zegen zijn voor mij en de ruim een miljoen andere longpatiënten in ons land. Op die manier kunnen wij net als ieder ander genieten van ons biertje buiten op het terras.

Cozy café with an excellent menu and a good chef. Smooth operation. The glasses of soft drinks could be a bit more generous. The price of the food is higher than you would normally expect in a café, but in return good quality is delivered in well-measured portions. All in all an excellent place to have a drink, eat and enjoy the café atmosphere...

Heel slecht, de hoofd verantwoordelijke van de bediening is niet vriendelijk of sociaal jegens klanten. Ook al steek je je hand omhoog, ze kijken gewoon over je heen en het eten is zeer slecht. Niks meer kunnen eten daarna en de hele dag ziek geweest. Ik sla het stadscafe voortaan over. Zeker voor dat geld, dan kun je beter naar een andere plek gaan.

Good food. Personally, I would make the portions a little smaller. Both the hamburger and the satay were very large/a lot. Then you can also lower the price slightly and increase the chance that people will come and eat a burger sooner. The price is quite high.

Disappointing! The tuna sandwich was not fresh and the orange juice was very expensive for the narrow glass you got. Staff were disinterested, were not concerned with the customer and had no love for the business and/or for the profession. Too bad because it is a nice location.

Even snel een hapje gegeten voordat we naar huis gingen, en wat een fijne verrassing! De erwtensoep was heerlijk, echt super goed van smaak. Daarnaast was de sfeer authentiek en gezellig, waardoor we ons meteen op ons gemak voelden. Zeker een aanrader!

Overall great location and excellent food. However, the hamburger was well done instead of medium and the bun was very dry, I think from before the weekend. Ordered the fresh meat plate, pizza toast and chicken sandwich twice. Those were very tasty.

Intimate atmosphere 1st floor, was reserved for our group. Had a nice afternoon with quick service.

Ate here last weekend. The carpaccio was simply spoiled. They should focus on a regular pub, because all the food is so unprofessional and poor. We will never go there again!

Tonight St Maarten in the city center. Fire pits, lanterns, singing children. Very nice. And delicious hot chocolate at the Stadscafé.

Friendly service, cozy atmosphere. Dishes are prepared quickly and served with taste.
