Taj Mahal in Oud-Zuid

Super lekker gegeten, hele leuke dames in de bediening. Het eten was echt veel, we kregen het niet op. Ondanks dat het een dinsdag was zaten er best veel mensen te eten, en toch liep het allemaal erg soepel, hoefden niet lang te wachten. Heel tevreden!

Ik heb online eten besteld, en het was héérlijk, verrukkelijk! Er staan een paar negatieve reviews over de kwaliteit van het eten, voor mij is het tegendeel waar. De kip was mals, alles was lekker en meer dan genoeg eten. Morgen eet ik de rest, nu was het voor mij afhaal, maar ter plekke eten is ook heel prettig. De bediening is zeer vriendelijk en vrolijk. Best place in town en niet duur!

Echt een top restaurant. Het eten: papadum voorafje met sausjes met het drankje mango lassi en verschillende kleine Indiase gerechten smaakten voortreffelijk. De bediening was ook snel en beleefd. Echt een aanrader.

Unfortunately the food was not good. As far as we are concerned, it has nothing to do with Indian food. The onion bhaji appetizer tasted like an oliebol, fried in old fat. The Bhuna curry looked like soup, so thin and lacking in flavor. The chef agreed with our findings, but reported that he cooks according to the taste of the area. So not a second time for us.

The staff are extremely friendly, especially a young girl who served us. We ate very well. The portions are generous. The geographical location is very convenient.

Was already late. The kitchens were already closed at most restaurants. Taj Mahal also almost closed. Yet they made me a delicious meal within 15 minutes. What lively people. I will definitely eat there more often. And I hope the reader of this review does too!

Had dinner here for the first time a few weeks ago with 4 people, via SocialDeal. Contrary to what was stated in the deal, we could not choose 2 side dishes per person, but 1 soup/starter, 1 side dish, 1 main course (lamb and fish with extra charge) and 1 dessert (= ice cream). Mind you, the portions and courses are certainly sufficient. But it is strange that it deviates from the small print of the deal. We all chose a (not too special) soup in advance, but each time something different as a main course (and 2x plain naan and 2x steamed vegetables - limp and with lots of coconut - as a side dish to share) and the quality/experience of the food was then also very variable. My own chicken dish was quite dry and the taste did not put me in a jubilant mood, our eldest daughter's paneer was "OK" and my wife's mixed grill was just okay (thankfully). But our youngest daughter's pieces of chicken in sauce were really dry and the dish also contained a lot of coconut, although it was not included on the (very extensive) menu, otherwise she would certainly have made a different choice. Unfortunately, she only made this known to us after dinner, otherwise we could have said something to the (Groningen or Ukrainian) service, because in retrospect it could well have been that she was served the wrong dish... The people at the service certainly did their best, nothing to complain about. The atmosphere of the outing as a whole was very special; Taj Mahal is a kind of small living room restaurant with accompanying mini tables. It was very busy on Sunday evening, and the door of the "living room" was also regularly opened that evening for several collectors (with an accompanying fresh draft - glad we were not right next to the door). Oh yes: a Bluetooth speaker was playing when we entered, but when the playlist was over, we sat for an hour without background music so that we could clearly hear all the conversations from the tables around us ;-) (Was mutual of course...) All in all, everything felt a bit amateurish, even the way in which the cloakroom and toilets are facilitated are not of the highest quality. (You can't see into the kitchen and that seems fine to me.) In the end, we didn't have a bad meal and it was certainly a special experience... I'm amazed at the sometimes very positive reviews here... To be honest: I don't know if we will go back there again - after all, Groningen has a lot more to offer.

Not a large, massive restaurant, but small, cozy and cozy. Very hospitably received. The food was really delicious, prepared with love. The waitress' advice was also sincere and good. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely go there again.

Firstly, it was not clear that you can park next to the business. The blonde waitress was very friendly and cheerful! The food was tasty but not special. Not worth repeating for us.

As a student, I would sometimes treat myself to food from here. Also, my route home did not pass the restaurant, but I sometimes cycled around to take the peswari bread with me. I now live in the west and will be back in the north for a weekend. I passed by Taj Mahal with my father and we picked up the Peswari bread as usual. As I walked away, I even got an extra one for free. What a luck! Really recommend this restaurant. Nowhere are the curries and peswari bread as delicious as here! And the staff is super friendly.

Social deal promotion, 46 euros, 3 courses. Delicious tomato soup, rice table, and ice cream from the supermarket. Drinks 3.50 p. Piece. There was a lot on the menu. Don't think price and what you get are worth it

Altijd heel tevreden over dit restaurant.... . Tot vandaag. We hadden nog een dinercadeaubon, gebeld met hun. Bezorgen was geen probleem, ook met bon. Later werd ik teruggebeld dat dit niet kon. Wel kon ik ophalen zelf en dan mocht ik maar voor 35 euro ophalen en de bon van 60 euro inleveren. Toen ik aangaf dat de man aan de telefoon vertelde dat dit kon, werd gezegd dat hij hier niets van wist en dat ik blij moest zijn met het voorstel dat werdt gedaan. Enorm jammer dat een restaurant als dit, klein , knus en echt goed eten. Op deze manier de rol omdraait en de klant als onbeschoft ( en dat was ik zeker niet) weg zet. Ate and ordered here several times. Taj Mahal never disappoints! You get delicious food, it is well seasoned and the portions are large. It's nice that you always have the option to take the leftovers home (at an additional cost for the 'togo' containers). The ice cream is just not very special and also has some crystals in it. Furthermore, I would definitely recommend this restaurant

Just picked up food for 55 euros here. 2 containers of rice. A butter chicken that doesn't taste like anything and what is shown in the photo below, the same dish twice, divided into 2 containers. When I call, the person I answer the phone also says nicely: Yes, we decide what we give you. Fine, next time I'll go to someone else.

There was a lot of lamb in the curry (lamb tikka) and the lamb was very tender. The ice cream was also tasty.

Very bad experience. The manager was very rude and the food was definitely no were close to being termed Indian. Biryani is supposed to be served with raitha not with a vegetable curry. Charging €4.25 just for raitha is absurd. Finally mixing up the Shahi Biryani with the vegetable curry in 1 container as a to-go box was the heights of rudeness.

Ordered taj mahal together with my friend. It was very tasty and large portions, we got a dish and side dish from the house. And it tasted delicious.

takes way too long and then the food comes AFTER AN HOUR AND A HALF still cold and dirty and small plate AND the atmosphere is so dead just old dead people and another waitress who can't even speak Dutch and the restaurant is also ugly without any real style and much too cramped, the owner is not even Indian and you can taste that in the food…

Nice menu, we had the mixed grill menu with the mulgatwany soup and the ice dessert. Nice, complete menu. The tandoori taste was not convincing yet overall we had a nice dinner. Definitely worth a visit. Friendly people. If you go there by car beware that nearby parking is only allowed for 2 hours until 22 hr. So if you go there at 20 hrs the no time limit that you then need to worry about.

The food was supposed to be delivered within an hour, but it was delivered after 30 minutes and we were able to sit at the table, great. The food was delicious as always.

Absolutely amazing food. Big portions at fair prices. Meat is very tender (we had chicken and lamb). Very well spiced. Naan bread is super nice. You always get some bread and dips to start. The staff is also very friendly and always in a good mood. We have been here several times and never had a bad experience. Take-away is also big portions and very fast. Delicious food in a simple building on a busy street. Parking was easy at the Q-park.

De glazen plakten aan de tafel en mijn schoenen plakten aan de vloer. Het bord dat ik eerst kreeg aangereikt was niet goed afgewassen (ik kreeg een nieuw bord toen ik dat aangaf). Het eten zelf was prima, niets bijzonders - behalve het pistache ijs, waar kokos in bleek te zitten. Het ijs was ook onverklaarbaar zout.

Besteld via de telefoon, werd goed meegedacht (wilde drie vegan hoofdgerechten en bijgerechten hebben), werd netjes bezorgd en was echt heerlijk! Een absolute aanrader!

Eten was lekker. Uitgebreide kaart. Vriendelijk personeel. Helaas leek er weinig aandacht te zijn voor sfeerbeleving. Fel licht, vrijwel geen muziek. Daarnaast is de aankleding gedateerd, gelijk aan het servies. Voor afhalen een aanrader, maar het trekt niet om lang en gezellig uitgebreid te dineren. Al met al een kort bezoek waarbij we wel lekker gegeten hebben.

Great place, had a lovely dinner for a very good price. Tomato soup was great, and biryani and kashmiri too! Very kind service too. Portion sizes could be a lot smaller (!) we were happy to take home the leftovers, but the enormous portions do promote waste a little bit.

Het was ontzettend druk in het restaurant, hierdoor was er veel drinken uitverkocht. Verschillende biertjes en 0.0 biertjes waren niet te bestellen. Ook werd speciaal bier niet geserveerd in speciaal bier glazen. Bij een nieuw, ander biertje werd er niet eens een ander bierglas bij geserveerd. De bediening was vrolijk en attent, maar doordat het te druk was, hadden zij geen tijd meer om ons tussendoor te voorzien van drinken of om te vragen of alles naar wens was. Het eten was veel en de smaak was goed, maar toch misten wij kruiden/specerijen die het eten hier speciaal maken.

Erg lekker eten voor een goede prijs! Het leuke is dat elk gerecht te delen is met elkaar. Zo kun je meerdere gerechten proeven.

Een markante plek in Groningen. Sfeer en entourage is matig. Toiletvoorziening echt aan update toe.Helaas plakkerige en onstabiele ronde tafel. Kwaliteit van het eten was matig. Voorgerecht tandoori mix was de eerste matige indruk. In ons geval Lam zahlfrehzi, waarvan de lam taai en draderig was. Menu met Scamps waren helaas taai. Bediening was correct, spontaan en de gastvrije buitenlandse dame heeft de "gunfactor". Kortom, niet direct als eerste aan te bevelen ondanks de gunstige prijs. Wat een heerlijke ervaring was het om hier heerlijk te eten. Ik begrijp eerlijk gezegd al de negatieve reacties echt niet. Wij hebben heel wat restaurants bezocht maar voor deze keuken stijl was dit een van de betere. Heerlijke gerechten, fijne service en al met een dikke 10 verdiend. Wij hebben via een social deal hier gegeten en komen zeker nog eens terug.

Food was amazing!! Waiter was very freindly and helpfull we had a very good experience and definitly wil be going back to eat there more often. I recomend this. Interior is a bit dated but kind of is part of the authentic experience.

Lekker en genoeg te eten! De kaart is ruim van vega tot kip en lams, spicy of mild. Ook los gerecht bij te bestellen. Eerste keer geweest en kom zeker terug. Het ziet er niet perfect uit maar het eten is authentieke en geurig en lekker. De bediening is goed en vrolijk.

Vanavond voor het eerst in dit Indiase restaurant gegeten hier in Groningen. De gerechten waren met aandacht bereidt en dat proefde je ook. De tandoori gerechten waren smaakvol en de groenten curry's lekker fris en vers. Bediening was snel en vriendelijk. Kans is groot dat ik hier nog een keer terug kom.

Als een oer Hollandse heb ik heerlijk gegeten. Chicken Biryani en Kulfi als toetje. Indiaanse tomatensoep als voorafje. Leuke meiden in de bediening en het eten werd snel geserveerd. De moeite waard om er nog eens te eten. Zeker om de prijs hoef je het niet te laten.

Waren gerade dort. Super leckeres indisches Essen mit toller Beratung. Der Lachs in Curry-Kokossosse war echt klasse Und dazu Bollywood- Musik, die ich so liebe Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Het eten is heerlijk en de mensen zijn heel vriendelijk. Met andere woorden, een aanrader!

I think food didn't taste anything. Dish was way too big. Meat was dry and hard. Food tasted like it was from supermarkets microwave oven ready meals. I felt like waitresses were avoiding contact. Very strange experience.

The food was excellent! It was very flavourful and delicious. The service was wonderful. The waiter was so attentive and accommodating. Overall, this was an incredible dining experience at Taj Mahal.

we order in some indian food, Bad choosen: too much oil in all food. Oil dripping, drowned in oil. We digested the food poorly and we got sick.
