Our server Juan was amazing!! We arrived to Amsterdam late and many places were closed. Luckily we found this tapas place and the food and service were amazing. We got several plates and loved them all. A perfect experience. Favorites of our group included were the fried anchovies, grilled octopus and the cheeseboard.

We went here to check out the food and portions; the place advertised generous tapas 😂🤣 I think that was a joke. It was incredibly noisy and the waitress didn't even know which part/region of Spain the food came from, so I asked her because she said they had seafood paella. I ordered aioli, but it came from a jar; it didn't taste good. The Padrón peppers were good, though. For dessert, we ordered a ribeye steak, which was served with a sauce. The table next to us ordered fried calamari and whiting, and I was shocked because the calamari were swimming in the oil and the fried whiting was only 2 cm long (what can you possibly eat of that?). Anyway, I certainly won't be going back. A tourist trap.

The food here is amazing. One of the best places for dinner or aperitivo. The quality-price ratio is incredible 💞 The fried little fish are absolutely delicious, and so is everything else I've tried. It's not my first time here, and every time I leave happy. A big thank you to the staff, who are always super kind and welcoming 💞

We were here eight years ago and it was great. It was always packed. Nothing like it is now... Lamentable and pathetic. As another reviewer said: the Russian salad was a mush, and whoever made it clearly doesn't know what it is... You order a small beer and they serve you a half-pint. The tripe was "creative" and over 20 euros... The waiter was a chatterbox... Plus, he's pretty incompetent in his knowledge of the industry. The worst thing about the place. He made us change tables mid-meal to accommodate some friends. Who, surely, will be the first to give him the cold shoulder he deserves, which is a clear sign of his decline. In short: not a Catalan bar, nor a Spanish one. "Something else." Good luck to anyone who dares to go.

A waiter was extremely rude. When customers placed a normal order, he responded with impatience, even questioning and insulting them. It's hard to imagine such a place existing in a tourist area.

Very disappointing experience. The entrecôte was terrible, but honestly, the customer service was even worse. We were a group of 15 people and felt like we were being treated as if they were doing us a favor the entire time. At one point, I asked if they could charge my phone. One of the few kind employees helped me, but when I later asked the manager if he could bring it back, he rudely replied: “If you want it, go get it yourself, we’re already working too much.” It was also very uncomfortable to see that the staff seemed afraid of the manager. When we asked to charge devices, they would ask us to speak quietly so he wouldn’t hear, even though they were trying to help us. When it came time to pay, one of the staff members made a sarcastic comment: “It’s just basic math, it’s not that difficult,” simply because we were trying to split the bill after one person had paid everything upfront. We even had to go inside ourselves to get menus because no one brought them to the table. Overall, the staff was consistently rude, with bad attitudes and inappropriate comments throughout the night. A really poor experience from start to finish. Would not recommend.

Staff was miserably rude to me for no reason. Especially the guys behind the bar. This was a really toxic environment where the food was unable to taste well because of that. Sad experience. By the way portions are super small - but it’s a tapas bar, I guess fair enough..

If you don't know how good the food is here, you'll walk right past it. However, the entire place, not very big, is always packed with guests from all over the world. But when you look inside, you know enough. The food and drinks are top-notch. We started with a sandwich with homemade aioli, croquettes, and Manchego cheese. This was followed by calamari, meatballs, and patatas bravas, and then we shared a sirloin steak with patatas bravas. The wine, a Verdego and Rioja, was excellent. For dessert, the Crème Catalan finished it off. We had a delicious meal and the service was superb. This tapas bar brings Spain to Amsterdam.

This is the best tapas bar in Amsterdam. We went there three times because the olives and the farmers bread with garlic mayonnaise were so good, but everything else on the menu was also incredibly delicious. We never had a dish that wasn't amazing. The staff are incredibly nice and friendly, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. I would recommend it to every tapas lover. :)

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went to this bar/restaurant for drinks. At first, everything was fine: we sat down, they gave us the menu, and we ordered some drinks. Then they took the menu, which also included food, and after a while, they brought us two small plates of tapas. Up to that point, everything was fine, but then the experience changed considerably. They started staring at us constantly and paying close attention to us in a rather uncomfortable way. After a while, one of the waitresses came over, took our plates, and told us that next time we had to let them know if we weren't going to eat, because according to her, the restaurant didn't allow just drinks. We were quite surprised, because we hadn't been informed of this at any point when we entered or sat down. After that comment, the waitresses kept talking amongst themselves while looking at us, as if they were wondering how long we were going to be sitting there just having a drink. It was a very uncomfortable situation and made us feel unwelcome. I think that, if they have that rule, they should warn about it from the beginning and treat the customer with more courtesy and naturalness.

While the food was good looking, the staff was not really welcoming, they got super rude to us for not ordering food while we did not even had the time to see the menu. I also see anyways that the more people complained about the staff behaviour so that is a bit a relief cause then we are not crazy and this place needs an HR check. Good location and nice terrace.

Today I had one of the worst hospitality experiences of my life. The service was abusive and aggressive; we waited 10 minutes to be seated. We were the first to arrive, and when we ordered, the waiter aggressively pressured us to order on his schedule. We left and will never return. It's true that it's a tourist area, but no one deserves to be treated like that, especially not on an empty stomach.

This place is absolutely horrible. I am from Amsterdam and this was just horrible. The waiter was so rude. I can not describe. I will not recommend this to anyone.

We stopped by Tapas Bar Català on our way back to the place where we were staying, just to grab a snack. We ended up texting our kids to join us for a tapas feast. It had a great vibe with lots of authentic options. We had wine, beer, bread, Serrano ham, gambas, patatas bravas, olives, seafood salad, artichoke salad…all very tasty. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We did try to return on a Friday night, and it was very busy. Best to try to get there early. If you’re looking for a change from the standard eetcafes, it’s a great option!

We stopped by for a drink, but we didn’t feel very welcome. The staff kept looking at us in a way that made us feel uncomfortable, as if they wanted us to leave because we weren’t ordering food. It made the atmosphere feel quite awkward.

The restaurant was crowded, so we started drinking on the terrace outside and were promised to be let inside, but a customer who arrived later moved seats without permission. We protested to the immigrant staff, but they didn't respond at all. If you don't speak Dutch, you won't receive fair service. (PS) I'm Japanese and visited with my family, but a white, Dutch-speaking customer who arrived later was given priority inside. Your restaurant is the one that's discriminatory. Please interview the staff.

What a surprise this place is! And even more so when you've been stuck in Amsterdam for days and you're Spanish 🙂 Ferni served us, and what a wonderful girl! She helped us with several questions we had, and besides... I TRIED SOME OF THE BEST AIOLI IN THE WORLD (not even in Spain!). The garlic prawns were delicious, as were the bread and the sirloin skewers—the meat was cooked perfectly and incredibly tender. Thank you, Ferni, for everything! 💕 🫂

The tapas leave much to be desired and the Andalusian waiter has very little desire to work; from time to time you see him with his hands in his pockets leaning against the bar. The place is quite dirty.

An absolutely amazing Catalan restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. ​From the first course to the last, everything we ordered was excellent and the portions were more than adequate. For a Catalan, price is an important point, and this place offers a quality-price ratio almost comparable to what we could find at home. ​The result? The experience was so rewarding that we repeated it the very next day. ​Totally recommended!

This bar is rubbish, nothing like Spanish bars. The service is terrible and it's very expensive. You have to ask for everything two or three times, but the first thing they do is put it on the bill. I won't go back even if they give it to me for free.

With a more Spanish touch, the tapas were good, as were the drinks; we ordered some beers with tapas. The place is easy to find thanks to its awning and distinctive colors. It has a nice, warm atmosphere on cold days.

10 euros for a non-bravas is quite the steal. 10 euros/5 croquetas, and quality was pretty low.

The ambiance was okay. The service was terrible. The food was very greasy. The portions are really large, and if you don't mind the fat content, you can eat it. We had dates wrapped in bacon and boquerones fritas, which tasted good, but as I said, everything was quite greasy. The bread was fresh, crusty, and fluffy. The aioli was also a large portion, but it had hardly any flavor—lots of garlic, yes, but no salt (maybe typical for tapas, I don't know). The restrooms were clean. The young guy behind the counter was friendly. However, we also ordered chicken wings and two beers. None of them were brought to us, but they were recorded and they wanted to charge us for them. Since I suspected something like this might happen, I checked the bill beforehand. And as expected, they wanted to charge us for something we didn't receive. The bill was corrected, but the two beers were still listed. So it seemed a bit like it was deliberate. What's also unacceptable and strange: soft drinks are available, but they're not on the menu. Right. Just like in those rip-off supermarkets that don't have prices marked and then want €4 for a small bottle of water.

A cozy Catalan tapas bar with a great atmosphere in the heart of Amsterdam, where you can enjoy truly delicious Iberian and Mediterranean food.
