Such a wonderful place! It has everything for a pleasant evening: super amazing staff, interesting cocktails and food, stylish interior and vibe. I really enjoy it!

By far the best coffee in Haarlem & transforms into a cool cocktail bar in the evening. People are really sleeping on this. Shoutout to the Turkish lady (forgot her name) for always having great service.

The latte, cappuccino and flat white are delicious! The staff was super friendly too.

Truly one of my favorite coffee spots in Haarlem! The baristas are always warm and welcoming, the atmosphere is incredibly cozy, and every little detail feels thoughtfully curated. And the coffee? Absolutely delicious! Although it's known primarily as a cocktail bar, I highly recommend stopping by for a coffee too.

The concepts of the cocktails are well thought out, original and certainly paid attention to. The cocktails may be a bit on the strong side for most cocktail drinkers. The price of the cocktails is on the high side, so I may see an improvement point in adjusting the alcohol percentage slightly, which could make the cocktails slightly less strong and also slightly cheaper, making them more suitable for most people. I enjoyed and love strong cocktails, but I realize that most people do not drink them as strong.

I know this is mostly a cocktail place but I’m begging you try the coffee is the best coffee I had in Haarlem and I try and go there every Friday and Saturday if I’m in the area. The place is stunning and the staff is so nice. I did try the cocktails as well with a friend of mine and they were very good as well!

Taru is a coffee shop by day and a cocktail bar in the evening. I visited with a friend and we had a couple of cocktails each. They were good - slightly unusual flavours. At €14 or €15 they did feel a little expensive though. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. It was a Saturday evening so it was busy but in a good way - there was a nice buzz. There was one guy making food and another making cocktails and greeting people. They were working flat out and very friendly. Despite that the service was a little slow.

Very tasty cocktails. Interesting, innovative options and something different than the classic mojito etc. Very nice interior and chill vibe. A bit pricey but you can see that. In my opinion the best cocktail bar in Haarlem.

Last August we had a cocktail at TARU. The service then was perfect; the cocktails were explained and you were made to feel very welcome. The cocktails were delicious so... worth repeating. Today at the end of the afternoon we wanted another delicious cocktail experience. But it was disappointing... we couldn't even taste the cocktail because we couldn't order a drink after waiting 20 minutes. If it was busy, that was somewhat understandable. But it was quiet, there were 2 other couples, otherwise the place was empty. The staff was busy chatting, tasting drinks and folding napkins... we definitely felt unseen and the staff was not customer-oriented, with the result that we left after a sip of water. It's really a shame, especially because we had a very nice experience earlier. Today's experience ensures that we will not be back anytime soon.

A charming Scandinavian-style cafe serving Japanese-inspired cocktails. When we entered, we were a group of 8 people without reservation but could directly get a seat to fit all of us together. With a big group, we were able to try different cocktails. The salty highball and sour highball were our favorites. The salty cocktail was our least favorite as we found the cocktail to miss the balance between the sour and sweet notes. As a recommendation, would be great to add in some borrel bites / hapjes (besides the bread and butter) for those looking for a light snack.

Excellent place. We come at night to try the cocktails. Very good! Made with high-quality distillates, with ice that reflects the knowledge of fine cocktails, original menu and classics. Very nice design and space with highly professional service. It is better to have a reservation.

The place is nice (and I guess so are the cocktails) but when I’m presented with a “Japanese-Scandinavian” concept I expect food with great flavour, not half heartedly seasoned cold dishes when it’s 0 degrees outside. Service & drinks nice but we left hungry after a few dishes and went to the Indian around the corner to satisfy our need for a proper meal. It sounds harsh but with a beautiful place and “concept” like this, surely you can make better food.

Amazing Japanese bar in Haarlem! This place is lovely for some drinks or for a coffee during the afternoon. They have different options and a lot to enjoy. Quality and sphere. Definitely a must to visit!

The concept was not clear. Management was very junior without any idea of ​​the concept. Owner was frustrated that we did not understand his/the concept and became angry with our company. That's not right! And then he sent us away. Very crazy! I have never been turned away from a restaurant! 😢

Taru is the shit. The host is extremely friendly and definitely very cute ;). The cocktails are amazing and the music is beyond my expectations. if you have a chance to visit definitely go. You won't regret it.

Unfortunately the experience left much to be desired. The prices were significantly higher than reasonable considering the quality of drinks on offer. In addition, the bartender's attitude was, objectively speaking, unprofessional and not customer focused, which negatively affected the overall experience.

I'll start with the positive, what a beautiful tent! The atmosphere is great, the place is also very clean and well maintained. The layout where you see the chefs at work is also very nice in my opinion. Unfortunately that was all of the positives, the service is unfortunately just bad. I had made a reservation at 9:00 PM and arrived too early (8:20 PM), they had no room at that time. Logically! After returning at exactly 9:00 PM, there was still no room... According to the waitress, a seat would become available at any time, and we had to either take a seat at a shared table with someone else, or come back later. We chose the latter... After going around the block we came back 10 minutes later, still no place. Then we were offered to take a temporary seat on a stool, very uncomfortable, we had to wait another half hour before we finally got a normal seat. I find this truly bizarre... In addition, we all did not like the cocktails, the umami cocktail had no umami in terms of flavors and was more like a mix of petrol and diesel. The sweet highball was a special combination of flavors that did not really work well together, but by diluting the highball for a longer period of time with the meltwater from the ice, it was finally drinkable. I think the cocktail was not stirred/shaked long enough during preparation, which meant there was no balance. Even the sweet cocktail was barely sweet, perhaps the taste of me and my company is too spoiled by cocktail bars that function at a higher level. Maybe I will come back in the future to try out the kitchen, could it be that the cocktails matched with the right meals are tasty?

Had a wonderful evening! The dinner was very tasty and it is definitely recommended to have the matching drinks package. The special cocktails taste great with the food; great experience! In addition, it is very nice to see exactly how everything is made with care at the bar. Recommended!

We had a 4-course menu with drinks pairing. The food was quite disappointing. It felt like an attempt to resemble high-end dining, but at a lower price. I don’t think it really worked. The courses were too basic, not very interesting, and not very tasty. The order of the serving was a bit odd. They started with a warm baked fish, continued with a cold salad made of cured meat with some cabbage, and then finished with a cold thinly sliced raw champignon. Essentially, there was no main dish at all. Unfortunately, I left the bar rather hungry. The drinks were just fine. One of the drinks was wine which was a bit unexpected because I came specifically for cocktails. So I had a chance to only try 3 cocktails. The waiting time was probably the worst part of the evening. It took us 4 hours to complete the dinner. Most of the time we were simply waiting for the next round. At the beginning the place was crowded and very noisy. There was a group of 10 people that didn’t have seats, so they were just standing around a table and loudly chatting. I think that’s alright for a regular beer pub, but is unacceptable for a cocktail bar where the vibe is supposed to be more relaxed and calm. On a positive side the two guys who work at the bar were nice and friendly.

Unfortunately had a bad experience due to poor service when we came here to eat. We made a reservation and after ordering we waited an hour for food that never arrived. The wine was good and they apologized when we left for another restaurant.

Since a week you can also dine here, very good!! 4 courses with drinks package and it was very tasty. Special cocktails, super tasty. Especially the cod with garlic puree 👌🏻

Surprising and great Cocktails and Highballs! Not your standard bar, but with a very unique atmosphere, appearance and staff that really makes you feel at home and ensures that you have a great time.

The coffee was some of the best I’ve ever had, and I’m really looking forward to going for some cocktails. They have a monthly rotating menu so it’s a nice one to come back to. Interior is a little bland but clean and spacious.

Definitely worth a visit, it takes a little longer before you get your drink, but that is because the owner really takes care of his creations and his business. Everything is clean, neat and tidy, prices are on the high side, but you do get top-level cocktails in return and not that simple mess that you get in the average bar in Haarlem. Keep up the good work!

Love coctails and decore of place! Each time i can tatse something new and delicious. Only thing in mind this is not a location if you go for quick drink. This is place where you need to slow down and take your time as just one bartender is doing all but the is doing everything perfect! He greets everyone, brings menu and water, make your coctails, have a nice chat and keep all bar spotless! Never been in cleaner space!

Went here to have coffee and the experience was outstanding! From quality to ambiance to interior to service, everything is perfect. The barista explained the concept and the beans they have in the menu. A really nice place to take the time to enjoy your coffee. What a great addition to Haarlem!

Good cocktails but a bit of a strange place. Bartender was really not friendly. Didn't say hello, couldn't exchange a sentence and only asked what we wanted to drink and whether we spoke English. Even at checkout without a trace of friendliness. The music did not quite fit into the setting and the light could also be a lot more muted. Too bad because there is a lot of potential in Taru!

I visited Taru during the day to have coffee. Very friendly barista explained the concept of brewing and in very knowledgeable way told us about the coffee beans, helping to make the best choice. Coffee was delicious. The interior is on point, so is the ambience. Perfect coffee spot to slow down & unwind.

What a lovely place. I was there this afternoon with my brother for a (white) tea and an espresso. These people really understand their products (very high quality). Also, the interior, music and cleanliness are on top level. Will definitely come back to try the cocktails.

It's a great place to hang out! The owners are friendly and trying to connection with customers. The concept of the bar is a bit similar what you could feel in Japan and they sell various Japanese highballs (sweet, sour and etc.). They have non-alcoholic options too. Last but not least, the bar itself is cozy and warm.

It wasn’t a surprise to learn that Taru got the best new cocktail bar award after tasting creative and delicious cocktails. The interior is so chic and stylish, I believe even not an expected style of a cocktail bar. They update their cocktail menu in every 4weeks and I recommended to go this bar every month to try new creative cocktails. Of course the classic cocktails are also available on request. Approximately each cocktails are around 15€ range (+/- 3€) The staff is kind and friendly also very careful about your table status. We got a great time thank you for everything and hope to back soon again :)

Overpriced and overrated cocktails. Such a shame that the menu was not clear that a cocktail contained smokes strawberries in stead of normal ones. That makes all the difference for me.

A refined cocktail experience with an owner who really knows his spirits. It’s a rotating small menu, so expect to be surprised, but in the best way possible. Also this bar is immaculate and the cocktail preparation is second to none. Make it a stop on your itinerary.

Sophisticated ambience and extraordinary cocktails. They have a monthly changing cocktail menu with a Japenese twist. Most importantly, they really want you to have a good time there. If you can't find anything on the menu, they happily prepare classic cocktails or surprise cocktails for you - all with high quality ingredients.
