Taverna Delphi in Oude Stad

Been coming here since I was a kid, and sometimes I haven't for years. Recently, I had another fantastic Delphi dish, compliments to my dad's grilling skills! I like the atmosphere; it's been the same for years, I love it. I would recommend a wider selection of side dishes, especially vegetables. Vegetable side dishes are also common in Greece, and I'm still missing that offer at Delphi. Maybe worth considering. Otherwise, keep it up, and good luck, dear people of Delphi!

Very friendly service. A true family restaurant! You won't be overlooked here and can enjoy a leisurely meal at your own pace. The owner is truly passionate about her business. I've never had such fresh calamari! Even in winter, it's incredibly fresh.

Nice restaurant, friendly people, especially the old man in the kitchen. Beware, the gyros isn't entirely pork. We also had pieces of goat or lamb mixed in. It wasn't something we'd return for. It's a shame, because it would have been delicious without it.

We had a wonderful meal here. An 83-year-old chef pours his heart and soul into preparing the food, which is wonderful to watch, and the wait staff is very friendly. In short, we had a wonderful time.

We went there Saturday evening to celebrate a birthday. Six people and a French bulldog (a quiet dog), who was also very welcome and immediately became a great friend of Spyros. We had a wonderful meal and a very pleasant time. Spyros and Sophia are such lovely people! We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back. We think it would also be wonderful to sit in the courtyard in the summer and enjoy the Greek specialties. Efcharisto, antio!

We had a wonderful meal with a group of nine. They certainly understand that here! Two large plates of meat and an appetizer were served, and they shared dining! Highly recommended. It's great to hear that this is a family business where the 84-year-old grandpa prepares the meat. You can taste it too!

We had i really nice experience in this warm family restaurant. The old man at 83 standing in the kitchen and the daughter taking care of the service of us. After a little waiting time we received the most delicious, tasteful and tender meat with side dishes. We can warmly recommend this Greek food restaurant 🇬🇷

I had a delicious dinner Taverna Delphi. The portions were very generous. The warm atmosphere is provided by Ms Sophia and her brother who run the place.

The food was fantastic. A truly cozy family restaurant. They also have a lovely backyard. I'd love to come back! The lamb chops are highly recommended.

My daughter and I stumbled upon it there and immediately fell in love with the restaurant, especially the back terrace. It felt like we were in Greece, and we wanted to experience the atmosphere again. So we relived our evening in Greece. The friendly staff were still the same. We were proud of their letter from the royal couple for their 60th wedding anniversary, including a bouquet of flowers.😁 They deserve it, those sweethearts. We'll be back soon, taking the train from Rotterdam again, just to dine out, just because we can.🥰

Very cozy restaurant with delicious food and friendly staff

Despite the restaurant being almost empty, the wait was 1.5 hours – on a weekday! The food was ultimately served without cutlery – which, of course, was brought immediately upon request. The gyros were okay both in terms of taste and price, but the moussaka was unfortunately only mediocre – but in fact, it was seriously overpriced. All in all, very poor and very untypical for a Greek restaurant. A shame.

It’s unacceptable to make people wait for an hour for just a starter and a dessert!

A very pleasant courtyard garden to sit in when the weather is nice, and the staff is friendly! The food was delicious, but a bit pricey... I personally missed some bread with the gyros, since you only get meat and a little rice. It's nice for a one-time visit, but I wouldn't rush back.

Echt n authentieke Griek met leuke serveersters jong en oud, beide hulpvaardig zodat je goed kan bestellen en krijgt wat je in gedachten had. Leuke ambiance, er zijn genoeg zitplaatsen en toch heb je een knus en gezellige beleving. Het eten was ook heerlijk en alles er omheen goed geregeld. We waren met een groepje van 9 personen en hebben het allemaal erg naar ons zin gehad!

We had a wonderful meal and drinks. We sat comfortably in the charming outdoor garden at the back. The staff is always so friendly. We always feel like we're coming home the moment we step inside. See you soon!

My Girlfriend and I walked by and asked if they were open, technically we were early by 30min but they let us in and the service and atmosphere was very homey! It was so nice in the garden, pretty flowers and an amazing friendly orange cat (also a thief haha), Denzel the cat and myself were big fans of the greek food, great portions! He ended up replacing my date 😳 Really lovely staff also!

Not again! Never had such a bad meal in a Greek restaurant! We asked for a short time to think about ordering the drinks. But then we only got the drinks after ordering again after the food came, while the waitress enjoyed a drink... Within a few minutes (10-15 minutes) the food was on our table. Unfortunately, some of the meat was tough or still raw and almost cold (seemed like it had been thawed and thrown on the grill). The rice as a side dish was very manageable (approx. 1 tablespoon) and carelessly prepared! The only good thing: the tzatziki and the side salad. That tasted good. Price-performance: bad! We paid a good €50 for two main courses and two drinks and didn't get ANY GOOD food for it!!! When clearing away the waiter didn't even bother to ask if the food was tasty! We didn't feel welcome and were happy to be able to leave the restaurant quickly... Afterwards my stomach didn't feel so good - probably because of the half-raw meat.

Service 10/10, a loving, family-run restaurant. We were treated very warmly with our baby. The food was a dream and a 10/10, I haven't eaten this well in a long time.

De tzatziki kostte €9,50 en we moesten €4,50 bijbetalen voor brood. We bestelden de Delphi schotel met souvlaki en gyros. De smaak was goed maar de gyros was lauw en het portie was klein voor Griekse begrippen. Helaas mocht de rijst niet omgeruild worden voor frietjes, dan moesten we weer bijbetalen. Helaas, hier komen we niet terug

Eggplant salad used to be a winner, now it looks more like caponata. Staff is very friendly, but comes too often to inquire whether everything is to your liking.

Wow, you would almost think that hidden gems can no longer be found. What an authentic ambiance, lovely hospitable owners and their daughter Sophia... a little piece of Greece on our Dutch territory. The food was tasty and the service good. We will come back again soon.

Cold food, burnt taste, long wait, small portions, big bill

I thought I would eat tasty gyros, but the food was lukewarm and very dry, and I don't think the tzatziki was home-made either. The meatballs were tasty as a starter. We were outside again in 45 minutes and 75 euros lighter. I'll never come back here again.

We were very early. (Around 4.45pm). Very friendly service and super tasty food. The lamb on the mixed grill was superb.

Then you arrive as the first customer around a quarter past 5 in the afternoon, and the food is cold. Food sent back to the kitchen and then it comes back overcooked/burnt. It doesn't go further than an excuse, and that for almost 100 euros for 2 people. Once but never again. And then you get a response like the one below. An owner who responds disrespectfully to his customers who are dissatisfied. Look at all the other reviews and you can see from the owner's answers what is wrong with this tent. Maybe listen and reflect a little more on your customers. The only Greek things to be found in your restaurant are the colors white and blue.

Weekend in Haarlem started in this Greek restaurant. Had a delicious meal and enjoyed the Greek atmosphere and therefore forgot the bad weather at the large Christmas market there. Dad himself stood at the stove and put excellent food on the table and accompanied by a Mythos the evening could not be ruined.

Reliable quality, delicious food, and wholesome service experience at this family operated restaurant, a staple in Haarlem for decades! The "mixed grill" platter is our favorite - so much food we can barely finish it. Wash it down with a nice cold Mythos, and enjoy!

Lang wachten op het eten. Zou een communicatiefout tussen bediening en keuken zijn. Eten was van een laag niveau evenals de bediening. Alles in het restaurant plakte. Kortom, het was niet best.

One of the best Greek meals we have had in a long time , can’t fault it , the staff were lovely and the food and service on a busy Saturday night was amazing .

I don’t give 1 star reviews because there is no need to damage business. But I do share my feedback: Look at the picture.. terrible taste and cheap calamari’s from the deep freezer. Not home made but charges €20,50(!!). Tasteless but mostly very frustrated that it’s not home made for this ridiculous price. The meat: not enough seasoning. I really appreciated the kind service of the ladies, inexperienced but hospitality minded, good to start at a place like this to build experience.

I’d like to preface by saying I understand inflation, rising rent & wages, and the cost of produce. That said, I found it appalling I had to pay for each serving of bread: am I supposed to eat tzatziki and melitsane with a spoon? The oven main courses were not hot, they couldn’t have come out of the oven. Taste was fine, could use a bit more seasoning. If I were to go again, which I doubt, I’d opt for a table of mezze and the mixed grill.

Have been looking for a nice Greek restaurant in Haarlem since we move here, so we’re really looking forward to trying this place! The atmosphere was great and we sat in the courtyard at the back which was really lovely! Unfortunately the food and service were a let down! We waited 50 mins for our food to arrive , we ordered gyros, breads and a Greek salad. The breads were not Greek breads, more like white toasted with a bit in herbs/garlic! The gyros had coriander on it, not nice! The Greek salad was Made with lettuce, a traditional Greek salad does not contain lettuce!

We vonden het erg gezellig, lekker eten en een gastvrije setting. Een goeie aanrader, vooral dat je ook buiten in de binnenplaats kan zitten. Kom er graag weer terug.

We ate on the terrace, an exceptional place with a very calm atmosphere surrounded by flowers and plants! Precious. The service was excellent, the waiters were super friendly and attentive. They answered all our questions and briefly explained the origin of the place. The food was spectacular, the meat melted in your mouth, you didn't need to use a knife to cut it! Thank you all very much for the fantastic evening. Shout out to the chef who, at 82 years old, maintains the weight of the kitchen with his wife!!!

Het restaurant is dringed toe aan een opknapbeurt. Het eten smaakte nergens naar, het was lauw en de gyros was uitgedroogd. Prijs was veel te hoog voor wat je kreeg.

It smelled wonderful at the front door so we were lured inside. We sat in the garden of the restaurant which looked very Mediterranean. Music atmospheric and not too loud. The food is western European Greek (adapted to tourists) but tasty. Choriatiki just doesn't include lettuce. Service is friendly

I went there with my family and friends. Since most of us are vegetarian, instead of ordering one main course each, we decided to order several vegetarian starters and share them together to get more variety. The food was very good. In particular, I loved their Aubergines(in the oven) and the Mushrooms. The waiters were very friendly and the food was delivered quickly, despite being a Saturday night. Everything for a reasonable price. Definitely a place I can recommend!

We had to wait a very long time for our food and it was not tasty enough to be worth it. Fries were the best. The (only) waitress was running around. Apologies to everyone for the wait. Severely understaffed. The tradition of ouzo in advance is not applied here. A real waste of time and money.

When you enter and walk through to the garden, you completely forget that it is a place in the middle of the city. The garden has been decorated with a lot of love and a sense of atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. In short, a perfect place to spend a beautiful sultry summer evening

The toilets are really in need of a makeover. too dirty to handle anything. The door is just black with hands. The many holes in the wall are not worth seeing. I think the tiles are from the 1980s. I think the menu is also from 1980 because nothing has changed. A major renovation is sometimes necessary...

Food is decent, it’s not very special but made and served in an appropriate manner. Seemed to us that some elements were not made of fresh but frozen products. Service was friendly but it took a long time to help us. It is a bit awkward when first you have to really look out and really try to catch waiters attention to get a drink and then after you order it - you’re done with your meal and thinking about paying and don’t want to wait for the wines to still come. As Greek food fans we went there twice last year, both experiences were very similar. Otherwise - atmosphere is fine, but you can’t help but notice that people around you are struggling with the same stuff :) They have beautiful location and really spacious garden - rare find in a city centre!!

There is smoke from the grill in the hall, we waited an hour for drinks and an hour for food. There is practically no choice of drinks.
