The service was fast and good. The food was very expensive for the quality we received. The place is very small and it was very quiet.

Food is delicious for brunch, I came there on a Sunday and it was pretty full so you should reserve in advance! Service was a bit unfriendly and restaurant is geneally busy and loud but all in all I appreciated the experience.

Always enjoyed coming here for lunch, until last time. I ordered orange juice and received Appelsientje from the pack. I walked to the bar and the employee showed me the pack. Luckily I got another drink in return. I also ordered Turkish Eggs, which was very disappointing. No yogurt to be seen and dirty chili oil on it. The sandwiches next to it also felt hard and old. Staff also clearly had no training in setting up tables.

Wij vonden het helaas een beetje tegenvallen. De website schets een heel ander beeld dan wat wij in Leiden hebben ervaren qua look&feel. De website geeft ook aan dat de high tea in Leiden de gehele dag afgenomen kan worden. Maar vervolgens kun je het niet online reserveren als je dit voor 15 uur wil boeken. Om dit telefonisch te regelen is echt onmogelijk. Deze locatie is bijzonder slecht bereikbaar per telefoon. Uiteindelijk is het met veel moeite toch gelukt om de high tea te regelen als lunch. Het personeel is er vriendelijk maar lijken grotendeels onervaren voor horecawerk. De plek waar wij plaats konden nemen was heel vies van de vorige eters. Kruimels werden op ons verzoek wel weggehaald, maar gewoon op de grond geveegd waardoor je met voeten en tas op etensresten zat van de vorige bezoeker. Dat gaf geen fris beeld. De plek waar wij plaats mochten nemen was niet alleen vies, maar bestond ook uit oud meubilair; een oude doorgezakte veel te lage bank (en we varen met 3 ouders van 80-plus die nauwelijks boven de tafel uitkwamen). De extra stoel die nodig was zijn wij uiteindelijk zelf gaan regelen. De etagère met high tea hapjes was wel oké. Niet zoals je bij een high tea verwacht. Denk aan een kleine donut met zoete dressing en krokante kip. Geen sandwiches of scones. Helaas waren de warme gerechten ook koud. De zoetigheden leken niet huisgemaakt (en zo smaakten het ook niet). Koffie duurde heel lang. Prijs/kwaliteit vonden wij niet in verhouding. Al met al was het fijn om met familie voor Pasen lekker even bij elkaar te zijn. De bubbels die we bijstelden maakten ook veel goed. De lunchgerechten die rondom ons werden geserveerd zagen er wel goed uit. We hopen voor de lezer van dit bericht op een betere ervaring. Ga het zeker zelf ontdekken, want de plek was wel grotendeels vol. Wij zullen er helaas niet meer zo snel een tafel reserveren door deze ervaring. Maar we gunnen de mensen die er werken veel klanten. Absoluut heel vriendelijk!

Cozy place, staff is very friendly and hard working. However, we had to wait longer than an hour for our food, which is not what you expect at a breakfast/brunch place. Very unfortunate, because we had to eat the food quickly because of our next appointment.

We came in with a reservation and were told that we could choose a spot ourselves. Great, we thought. But less than two minutes later we were told that the spot we had chosen was not good after all and we had to move. Why do you give people the choice at all? On the way up we saw that a strip was hanging loose on the stairs. Very dangerous, especially if you walk there unsuspectingly. The windows in the store also stood out, but not in a good way: they were so greasy that it looked as if they had not been cleaned in months. Our drinks only came after the food was already on the table. Meanwhile, we saw other guests walking away before they had even ordered. Another couple was turned away from their table because it was 'reserved' for people who could come at any time. Not exactly hospitable. We ordered orange juice twice, but the waitress came to report that it had run out. Fine, it can happen (crazy in a lunchroom). Until we saw that gravy was served at other tables. A bit strange. As an alternative I ordered sparkling water, I got still water…. At another table, ladies were having high tea. You can hardly imagine it, but they were served a teapot with cold water. The food itself? That was honestly very tasty. But that is really the only positive thing about this experience. Everything around it was a mess.

We sat outside at a table, but I think the staff preferred not to come outside. After waiting a long time they came outside to record and then they served. For the rest, the staff stayed inside, not asking how it tasted or whether we wanted something to drink, nothing. We ordered the chicken katsu, which were tasty, but the waffle fries with truffle mayonnaise..... initially came without sauce. Had to pass this on inside since they didn't come out. And before the sauce arrived, those fries were cold. Once and never again at Teds Leiden

The food was nice, the chicken was succulent but my partners egg was overcooked. We had to wait for an hour, there were only 3 other tables besides us. The waitress was very friendly but forgot our second round of drinks and we also didn’t get the promised extra fries as compensation for the long wait. All in all slightly disappointing.

We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant, especially after our great experience in Amsterdam. Sadly, this location didn’t quite live up to expectations. It took about an hour to get our food, even though there were only three tables occupied. When it finally arrived, the Philly Cheese Steak and fries were cold, and the Chicken Avocado was only mildly warm and didn’t quite match the pictures we saw about the restaurant. On a positive note, they have a nice seating area outside, which was perfect to enjoy the sunny day, and the service was friendly. They did come up with a solution, but still, it wasn’t quite the experience we were hoping for.

Een keer een ander lunchadresje proberen werd een teleurstelling. Het broodje met zalm, avocado en twee gepocheerde eieren ging nog een beetje. Brioche met krokante kip en een sausje was echt niet lekker. Ook mijn huisgemaakte drankje stelde niet veel voor. De prijs/kwaliteit verhouding is hier ver te zoeken. Veel te duur en absoluut niet smakelijk. Zaak is verder ook smoezelig. Jammer!! Hier kom ik nooit meer.

Had a high tea here via social deal. It was really tasty and certainly enough food and very nice service. The chairs are not that comfortable, but the atmosphere is nice!

very beautiful place, in the center and nice atmosphere over all. We got seated at the top floor and i think we got forgotten because it took 45 minutes to get the food and it was mediocre. I got the triple omega and i only got one egg instead of two and it was very spice and lemony and you couldnt feel any other tastes. It was not worth 14€.

Second time in this place, and again a bad surprise. The first time, the staff told us that the table in front of the window was reserved, but it remained empty until we left, an hour and a half later. The second time, we had to wait an hour and a half before being served, we only got our coffee included in the menu during this time. We almost left and canceled the order. Luckily, the staff offered us juice and fries as an apology. They are understaffed in the kitchen for sure! Little bit overpriced for the experience!

Super tasty food, lots of things available that you really can't eat anywhere else. Would go here very often just to try out the whole menu. Super!

I enjoyed a delicious high tea here with a friend, and it was a very nice experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt nice and relaxed. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We were lucky with the weather, so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the afternoon even more. The high tea itself was well taken care of and had a nice, surprising twist with American influences. The etagère was full of various delicacies, both savory and sweet. Think classic sandwiches, but also donuts and waffle fries, which was a really nice change. Everything was fresh and tasty, and the portions were generous. We were really able to enjoy all the snacks at our leisure. Because it was such a beautiful day, we decided to have another glass of mimosa. That made the experience extra festive and gave the afternoon that little bit extra. The tea was also served regularly and we could choose from different flavors, which is always a plus with a high tea. What struck us most was how relaxing the whole experience was. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant, not too rushed or noisy, and the service remained attentive and friendly despite the crowds. All in all we had a wonderful afternoon and would definitely come back here again. Highly recommended for those looking for an original and atmospheric high tea! Delicious food and good service.

Yesterday we had high tea here. Unfortunately it was a bit disappointing, we had to wait more than an hour for the snacks, I understand that it is busy but we had made a reservation. When we asked, we were offered a free cup of coffee. The staff is very friendly and hard working. The high tea snacks were not very special, far too drenched in sauce and somewhat tasteless.

Delicious brunch/lunch at Teds. We both had French toast with fruit and it was delicious. The decoration of Teds was nice, maybe a bit messy for some. The staff was friendly and we were helped quickly! Why not 5 stars you may wonder? Is he coming: After we ordered I went to the toilet. When we got there, 2 of the 2 toilets were extremely dirty. It couldn't have been cleaned for 2 days. Too bad, because that gives me a certain idea of ​​the hygiene of a business. That is an area for improvement. Do not order the high tea here, it was all very greasy and the waffles were floating in chili sauce (?) In addition, my mother had a gluten-free high tea that was very meager and that she had to share with someone who was not gluten-free so that this person also got less . Management disinterested. Not recommended.

We made a day Trip to Leiden and were really happy we chose Teds as our first stop of the day for breakfast. 🌞 The location was cozy and we loved the decoration. The staff was really friendly and they even gave us some nice recommendations for the day. The food was tasty, coffee was great. There are many vegetarian and vegan options as well. Even if it‘s a minor detail I have to mention the little brownie piece you get when ordering a hot drink because it was just soooooooo good!

Ordering food and drinks took a very long time... It took a lot of effort to order a second drink... Waited 45+ minutes for the food and then you are obliged to pay immediately after eating because the table is reserved for the next person... I understand that the reservation was only for 1.5 hours, but make sure that the food and drinks come more quickly.

My friend and I sat in the corridor on the stairs, so I think the awkward location made it a bit difficult to get service. A couple that sat also on this corridor but by the railing arrived after us and got more attention from service than us. It was lunch time so I understand the busyness but it still felt like a bit of oversight when the couple that was near us also left 20 mins before my friend and I because they were more in view.

Very disappointed. It started upon arrival. Make a reservation well in advance and indicate any dietary requirements. Once again we were asked about our dietary requirements. It was emphasized that the 'vegetarian' option meant that meat and fish were omitted. It is special that meat and fish will not be replaced in 2024. You could go for the 'vegan' option, but then you had to pay 5 euros more?? The expensive part is omitted with the 'vegetarian' option, but you pay the same price. As for the food, the poached egg tasted like vinegar. We all got a chicken donut, there was no donut without chicken. The sweet tarts were dry or tasteless. Made our statement during checkout regarding the 'vegetarian' option. We received an answer that they changed their policy six months ago and no longer offer meat and fish substitutes. As 'consolation' we received one cake per person. However, this was very dry. As far as we are concerned, this is not worth repeating.

Food was great. Service was rly slow(only one server for a full room). Benedict was great, only sadly forgot our side order, which we waited 30 mins for. We were not compensated in any way. Sadly even for the bill, she wouldn’t come by to give us the chance to ask for the bill so we called her after waiting 45 minutes. Safe to say the TEDS in The Hague is better, bigger and more options.

Ordered Croque Wanita for myself and my wife. Asked to fry the egg for 1 dish more. It was also done neatly and we had a great time. Recommended for everyone. Reservations are recommended, it is always pleasantly busy.

We were so excited to try Ted's in Leiden. I checked their booking system the night before and saw plenty of open tables. Imagine our surprise when we arrived the next morning with our hungry child, only to be abruptly turned away. They claimed to be expecting a large group, but the restaurant was completely empty, only the one table was organized for a reservation. It was clear they simply didn't want to accommodate a family with a young child. We left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. Apparently, Ted's in Leiden has a "kids only sometimes" policy. Unless you're part of a large, hangover crowd, don't bother bringing your family here.

Didn't reserve in advance because there were still many time slots and it said it was 'quieter than normal'. However, we were sent away because it was full (several tables were still empty...). No place without a reservation. Then we made a reservation, because there were still many spots available. Unfortunately we were sent away again. Very special and if this has been a problem for some time (this is not the first review about this), why has it not been resolved?

The food was delicious, but the service and staff were really bad. 20 minutes after we had eaten, the three of us stayed behind the bar and paid no attention to the guests at all. In the end we asked ourselves if we could pay, unfortunately because we were quite enthusiastic about dessert.

The Chicken & Donut was quite an experience but in a positive way. I really liked the combination of flavours and will definitely order it again! The restaurant is also really cozy, we were sitting upstairs where it was pretty nice!

I was really looking forward to eating at this restaurant and made a reservation on September 23 for October 2, to surprise my girlfriend with a nice breakfast for her birthday. I had also indicated this in the reservation. However, to my disappointment, I received a call on the afternoon of October 1 to inform me that the restaurant would be closed the next day. No specific reason was given, except that this had to do with October 3 (Leids Relief), which of course could have been known much earlier. No alternative was offered, except the suggestion to go to the branch in The Hague, which was not convenient for us. Although I have no complaints about the employee who made the call, I think this shows poor management. This should have been communicated much earlier and at least some form of compensation or concession could have been offered for those who had already made a reservation. The concept of the restaurant is nice, but the way the management deals with customers unfortunately leaves much to be desired.

Service was kind but the food was not good; fresh fruit is just melon and ananas from a discount supermarket, it doesn’t help to put it in a nice glass; hash browns is a frozen triangular rosti; coffee was served cold. Just the croissant and eggs were ok. The place also smells of closed air, and doesn’t look very clean.

First impression, a nice and cozy place. Food is photo worthy. Unfortunately the taste was lacking. The poached eggs and sauce had a strong sour taste. Apple pie and cheesecake were mediocre. After our comments about this we were no longer served. She even tried to convince us that poached eggs are supposed to taste sour. Clearing our table did not happen. Compensation was also difficult to arrange. There was even a hassle at checkout, even though we had discussed this before. All in all, not recommended if you want good quality food.

Vega High Tea was really delicious!

I've never waited longer for food. They were nice enough to give us a free plate of fries in consolation, but yeah, never going back there. Kitchen probably understaffed, so it's just the owner's fault.

Very funky shop! The service was super nice and quick. The food also came surprisingly quickly. We just thought it was overpriced 🙈 2 sodas, 2 medium dishes: almost 40 euros. But it was still worth it because of the design and because it was really tasty and something different.

Had a vegetarian high tea here for my birthday, and was pleasantly surprised with the variety of snacks. You often get very standard things as a vegetarian, but we were really happy with what we got!

When you offer delivery, at least be available when customers have questions. Yes I made a mistake. But there was just no rectifying it as no one picked up the phone. There was no respond to emails. Not even days after. Super super frustrating!

We had a very bad experience at this coffee, we came on sunday we walked in a lot of tables were empty we asked if we could drink a quick coffee for 4 of us for like half an hour they said they are fully booked you can not sit , we understood and we asked for an alternative even though we felt that their talking way was not nice at all they were rude, they said if you find a place outside as reservation was not needed, we found a place, sitted and waited for the waitress, she came and said that we can not bring a fourth chair from another table and that we can not sit as 4 people, despite the fact that 2 tables of 4 were there. We understood that we were not wanted and that it was an act of pure racism. We did not like this behaviour and we will not put our feet there again.

Absolutely delicious! Great true brunch options. Breakfast burrito w. scrambled eggs, avocado, tomatoes, etc. & chili glazed donuts w. fried crispy chicken. Absolutely terrific fresh orange juice & dirty iced chai latte too! Would love to come back!

Had an excellent lunch here three times before. Yesterday it was completely different. Dirty, very long waiting times, service not very attentive, forgot to give order to the kitchen, dish seemed to have been ready for a while given the slightly dried out sauce, food not very neatly served, food was not even tasty at all and of a lot lesser quality. In the end I didn't have to wait for the cake and coffee anymore. The vegetarian options were sufficient last time, but not now. We won't be coming back here again.

Unfortunately it was very disappointing.. it took a long time before we were helped, tables were dirty and so was the room we were in.. Empty glasses were not collected. Food was half cold and we were rarely asked if we wanted something to drink. When you walked downstairs yourself, you were still looked at strangely and it didn't even come. The icing on the cake was that the internet was out, so you couldn't pay and you were asked to please walk through the rain to an ATM. There was no creative solution and no compensation either. Hence 1 Star is more than justified in my opinion..

De zaak smoezelig, personeel weinig geïnteresseerd, vergeet je bestelling (zag ik ook bij anderen), zeer lange wachttijden, eten niet lekker en leek op het bord gesmeten. Uiteindelijk de koffie met taart niet meer afgewacht. Afrekend en we komen hier niet meer

My friend and I were immediately struck by this little bar hidden under the trees in the first light of the morning. Even though the tables are outside on the sidewalk, the atmosphere is super quiet and relaxing and the interior space also reflects the same vibe. Delicious food (I recommend the cheesecake). Just one piece of advice for the staff: follow the customer more, especially if it's a day with few customers :)

Today I wanted to have breakfast at Teds with my friend. We walked in and the waitress asked if we had a reservation. We didn't have this; and so we were not allowed to take a seat. Then we walked outside and checked if a reservation was possible. Many times were still available and we made a reservation online. We walked in WITH proof of reservation and the waitress and colleague were chatting after I showed my proof. Finally, we were sent away AGAIN? Maybe it has to do with the fact that we are both foreign, I don't know. But strange behavior to send customers away like that. Not recommended.

Excellent food, but the price-quality ratio is less than at other restaurants. The breakfast burrito was more of a wrap, but hey, quite tasty. The coffee was medium and the caramel sauce was almost unrecognizable. Friendly staff and nicely decorated!

We had booked a high tea at Teds via social deal. And that was definitely recommended! Nice place, friendly staff and delicious creative dishes on the etagère that are certainly enough for you. It was also nice that the tea was served in classic cups and saucers, and that you got ginger/mint/lemon/orange with it.
