The Bulldog Mack is a true symbol of Amsterdam. A bar, or perhaps something more than just a bar, where it's truly pleasant to stop and take your time. The coffees are excellent, the atmosphere is charming, and you can breathe exactly the air you'd expect from an iconic place in the city: relaxed, lived-in, authentic. Recommended. A must-visit.

Very very rude bartender. We where 4 people, for a start ordered only 2 beers, he very rudely asked ask to leave the place at the bar since we 4 people ordered 2 drinks. Actually said that 🫣

Smoke and drink. This place is crazy good

The waiter who served us was a scammer and rude. We went into the place to have a couple of coffees and he charged us whatever he felt like, exactly 15 euros for 2 cappuccinos when the menu says they cost 3.90. His response was that the coffee was large, which isn't even on the menu. When we asked for a receipt, there wasn't one either. He was a complete rip-off.

Interesting place, it's very popular because of the crowds and the waitresses are quite unfriendly. They should supervise how the waiters treat customers because I had a very bad experience with one of them. I couldn't order any food because the service was so slow, and when I ordered a beer, they brought me two, and I had to pay for both.

For anyone who loves marijuana, every The Bulldog Mack is a recommendation 😄

I've visited this location every time I've been to Amsterdam. I like the vibe, low key bar where you can have a smoke and get some good food. This time I tried to visit twice, the first time we were turned away by the security and we still don't understand why. The second time we went in and saw MANY empty tables! We were delighted that we would be able to sit down and spend some money. That was when we realised, every table said "reserved for groups of 6 or more" We asked the question to see if we could sit down and we were told no...... So we just left and took our money elsewhere. Won't bother trying again in the future. I get reserving booths for groups of 6 or more, but if you have multiple empty tables and a group of under 6 comes in ready to spend money. Maybe try and make some space for them?

Terrible customer service. Rude bar staff specifically on 28/10/2025. We went to every other bulldog cafe and they were very polite. The guy cared only about the number of sales he made. There were three of us and 2 out of 3 were drinking. He stated you were not allowed to be in there if you were not drinking.

The Bulldog Coffeeshop is an absolute Amsterdam classic! ☕🍃 The atmosphere is chill, welcoming, and full of good vibes. The staff were super friendly and helpful, making the experience even better. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy a smoke, or grab a drink after exploring the city. The music and people give it that true Amsterdam energy — definitely one of the best spots to visit if you want the full local experience!

Disappointed and dissatisfied. Server was hostile and refused to provide a glass of water and the bill when requested. He made me pay without providing the bill. Stay away from this place. Never go here again

Sketchy server. Do Not Recommend This Place. Not sure how this place runs during the day but we had a bad experience with a male server in the evening. Server was rude and condescending. He told us they only served alcohol only, but we saw other table had food and non-alcoholic drinks. We ordered alcohol and asked for a water bottle which he refused to serve. They also failed to provide us a copy of the bill because they “ don’t have it“. What type of establishment that doesn’t provide receipt in 2025??? Miss me with that B.S.

The staff were so rude to us, that we decided to look for another bar. It felt like they were doing us a some kind of favor, against their will. The house was probbably half full half empty, if that’s the kind of treatment they give to do business, it’s their loss.

You can pick up your order from the coffee shop next door and sit outside to enjoy yourself. It's a great pub by the canals where you can have a great time in Amsterdam. I highly recommend it.

We went for breakfast with them on September 16th, and everything was simply perfect – the food, the service, and the atmosphere were sensational. The next day, September 17th, we went back hoping to enjoy that wonderful breakfast again, but it was totally disappointing. The service was terrible, we were charged incorrectly, the wrong order was teken , and the waitress’s attitude was awful – it was clear she didn’t want to be there. Unfortunately, that ruined the great experience we had the day before.

We were completely surprised about the horrible service we received, cause in every other Bulldog Place they would treat us super good. Even when we consumed here they would not let you use the bathroom unless you paid additional money. And somehow the waitress was completely rude, she basically judged what we were ordering and said it was not enough for all of us, and then she was taking everything away from our table to make us leave.

Cool place, but only worth visiting if you’re just looking for somewhere to smoke and drink. The Bulldog is one of the few spots that bends the rules and has bars either next to or literally attached to their coffeeshops, where you can drink and smoke. But be ready to be treated badly, because the service is terrible. They’d rather have the bar completely empty than a table with five people where three are drinking and two are not. If you’re looking for a coffeeshop just to smoke, you’re better off going anywhere else, where you’ll actually be treated with respect — GetDown is one of them

Since I know the chain as a coffee shop and don't smoke weed myself, I had low expectations of the food when we sat down there. To be honest, it was more important to us to sit outside in the wind and have a drink than to get our money's worth. The drinks were good and the service friendly, which is why we stayed there longer than intended. So we unexpectedly got our burgers and I have to say: we were all thrilled! Our special requests were accommodated, the food came relatively quickly even though the place was packed and the tasted excellent! Later in the evening the bar transformed into a club. Great atmosphere and everyone very accommodating. The only comment I have is that even as a guest you have to pay for the restrooms (€0.50). But I can understand that otherwise you quickly lose track of who is a guest and who isn't.

This is the most famous coffeshop for a reason. It is such a vibe. It is worth spending some time inside other than shopping. Their brownies are excellent, but make sure not to eat the whole thing if you are inexperienced.

We sat outside, had some drinks and a pizza, food was tasty and drinks were good. Plus side is you can smoke joints here.

Rude security and very rude stuff

Unfortunately, we were not served in a friendly manner at all. After choosing our food, the menu was immediately snatched from our hands and we were told, "There's no more food available." Well, we only ordered two cocktails (two of the ones we originally wanted weren't available either). They were okay, but the woman who served us made us feel like we weren't welcome and that she couldn't be bothered with her job at all. It's a shame.

This was honestly one of the worst service experiences we’ve ever had. The waiter was extremely arrogant and treated us as if we were asking for a favor. We were a group of five, ordered several rounds of beer, and when one of us asked for just a glass of water, he refused, saying he would only serve beer at the table. Such disrespectful behavior shows a complete lack of regard for customers. Definitely not a place I’d return to, a huge disappointment compared to the other Bulldog locations, where we’ve always been warmly welcomed.

It may be one of the best known and most commercial, but its products are that good.

A must-see if you visit Amsterdam. The music is good, and you'll have a good time if you go with friends. But the service from one waitress in particular was bad. She was rude and seemed to want us to leave quickly. Still, go visit it; there are several, and some will treat you well.

Unacceptable Service and Extortionate Practices My experience was utterly deplorable. The waiter, a overweight individual with an abrasive attitude, was shockingly rude and unprofessional. He argued aggressively with me over drink orders, trying to pressure me and everyone in table into buying overpriced alcoholic drinks only, while refusing to sell any soft drink options—an absurd practice I’ve never encountered anywhere else. The attempt to extort customers into buying drinks they don’t want is a disgraceful tactic. I won’t be returning, and I strongly advise others to steer clear of this place.

A cool place, nice to visit. A big advantage is that you can buy alcohol and joints can be smoked inside too. Large selection to cocktails, milkshakes and food. I can recommend to visit.

Surely one of the coffeeshops of all time.

They're not really lying when they say they are "the living room of Amsterdam." It's almost always very vibrant and lively, for good or bad. I've met random people that engaged in good conversation and those that just ask you to buy them a drink. Probably best before 9 for those over 27, but otherwise you'll really enjoy the late night crowd (even on a weekday). I always make sure my first and last drink are here!

Very good atmosphere and everyone very friendly

Yesterday, we had a good café au lait and a delicious cappuccino. The menu listed them for €3.60 each. The waitress asked if we wanted a small or large. It was surprising that the price doubled. €14.40 for two cups of coffee is too much, even for good coffee.

After my good spent time in other Bulldog place (Ex-Police Station) here this time i got little bit dissapointed not very welcoming staff at entrance giving me feel that he dont need my money which i will spend there and after ordering food i must say its very mid Pizza like frozen one and what supprised me most is toilets i needed to pay even after ordering food and drinks and on that toilet wasnt any tissue to dry my hand i needed to use blower which wasnt very effective and also no mirror i was just not happy about this visit next time ill chose rather some other bulldog

BE CAREFUL!! They're scammers! Ask for the receipt before paying. I made the mistake of paying by card without even looking at the card reader. When we realized it, they'd charged me 90 euros, which seemed very strange since we didn't consume that much. We took the menu and started adding up the prices of what we had ordered, and it was 20 euros less. We complained, but they wouldn't give it back, so we asked for the receipt. They said they didn't give it to us when we were there that same morning and they gave it to us. We insisted on getting our money back since the bill wasn't correct. The waiter got very aggressive, kicking us out of the establishment, so we called the police. They came to the place, and we discussed the situation. The police asked the waiter if we could see what we had ordered on the computer and allowed us to come inside the bar to see it. When he put in our bill, HE HAD ADDED 3 more beers and a glass of wine. Added to all this, tickets started pouring out of the machine next to him, and he quickly removed the papers and threw them away. The policeman and I stared at each other because we both realized they COULD issue tickets, but they wouldn't give them to us. The police couldn't do anything except demand the ticket, but the waiter kept saying no. In the end, they didn't give me my money back. The situation made us feel so helpless; we will NEVER come back. Don't pay without getting the ticket first!

We actually quite liked the place and the atmosphere until we got ripped off. From what I can see, that's their modus operandi. They don't give you a ticket; they make up the prices. We went three times during the week we were there, and on the last day, they charged us differently after running up big bills on other days. They ripped us off by €30. They made up claims that we'd had too much to drink, called the police, and the police laughed at him. I'd never go back. A very unserious place.

Much better Coffeeshops around town. It's worth hitting up though just to check out. Took a friend here to just get souvenirs. Didn't buy any goodies but It's worth seeing, touristy, but worth seeing. Take a peek in if anything especially because it is a for sure you're going to be in the area. More

Idiot at the door grabbing me up because I was wearing a hat. He let me go in and then grabbed me rather than communicating what he wanted from me. I had no idea who he was or why he was putting his hands on me. He was lucky he didn't end up with a broken nose. Won't go again after this. They're lucky we didn't just turn around and leave. Menu crap. Waste of our time. TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS BETTER. AND HAVE A WORD WITH MR GRABBY !!! Place was full and nowhere to sit. Go elsewhere. This place is now a no-go zone.

Was told they couldn’t do small coffees anymore, only big ones (???). Only when we got the bill we realised they were 7€ each, while not being listed for that price on the menu. Also got told after a while that they didn’t do soft drinks after a certain time, only alcohol (another ??? moment). They just want people to spend more money.

A real shame, they wanted to make us pay for an extra drink and 20 euros for a gin lemon (also bad) is truly uncommentable.

We arrive and ask for cocktails and jager, and they tell us "we don't do cocktails" SCAM STAY AWAY so we get some gin lemons for 13 euros and at the time of payment they were instead 17.20 each and that price isn't even on the menu. 20 euros of undrinkable gin lemon the total order arrives and they ask us instead of 135 total 156 euros and insist that they want them FUCK THEY WANTED TO MAKE US PAY FOR AN EXTRA LEMON GIN AT 20 EUROS EACH and they also suck a lot of old people, don't come here, Italians, it's very shitty

Poor service. They tried to scam us by adding 2 drinks to the total. The prices of the drinks on the menu were false and on the bill they were much higher. We were a group of 10 people, I recommend you go to another place.

I have never seen €3 added to a gin and tonic for asking for a gin lemon, they probably only did it because they were tourists Plus they had added an additional gin lemon to the bill compared to those ordered You want to fuck me in the ass??

Amsterdam fabulous city Dutch wonderful people Unfortunately for them, however, they have to share oxygen with the terrible managers of this poor place We ordered 7 simple gin lemons which on the menu would have cost €13.50, but the managers independently and unquestionably decided to add a surcharge of €3.80 (probably because we Italians are disgusting to them). If this wasn't enough, they even tried to cheat us further by adding an eighth gin lemon to the bill, believing us to be fools I think 1 star for the service is excessive, but unfortunately there is no possibility of giving 0 stars

FOR ALL ITALIANS we ordered 7 gin lemons (€13.5 on the menu) they added €3.50 without notifying us and we ended up paying €17 for a gin lemon. The blonde lady serving at the bar was extremely rude and unfriendly. I asked if I could have a Fanta, and she said they didn't sell non-alcoholic beverages. The odd thing is that the bar menu offers cold drinks, forcing customers to drink alcohol.

The bartender was extremely rude. There were small tables available for 3 people still he mentioned that it’s reserved for bigger group. We were informed we are supposed to get drinks if we are sitting in the bar. On trying to order a Coca Cola, he informed us rudely that he meant Alcoholic drinks and asked us to leave. Great spot in Amsterdam city centre to have both a drink and smoke. Visited for breakfast one day also and the food was great. All the staff are really friendly, and there are good cocktail options.

Good atmosphere to have a drink with friends and smoke if you want. I've tried some super delicious sparkling ciders. The fries, normal. Ciders and beers 6/7 euros and be careful! They charge you 0.50 to go to the bathroom. What I didn't like is that the girl charged us (initially) 12 euros more, and when I asked for a ticket she told me no, it wasn't possible. Finally I claimed the money and he returned it to us apologizing, but the feeling is that... if he sneaked in we would pay for the giris hazing. Bittersweet feeling

Bulldog Mack in Amsterdam has a great atmosphere and is one of the few places where you can enjoy a joint and a beer in a relaxed setting. The loud dance music adds to the vibe, making it a cool place to unwind. That being said, the hygiene standards are seriously concerning. Glasses aren’t properly washed—they’re just dipped into a sink, swished around, and stacked for reuse. I watched as glasses with visible lip gloss marks were given to new customers. Another issue is the handling of ice. I saw the bartender repeatedly take cash payments and then use his bare hands to scoop ice into drinks. If anyone doubts this, just grab a seat and watch for yourself. I love this place, but the hygiene needs serious improvement.

There is an arrogant bartender inside. He pretended like he didn’t hear me me when I asked “is here smoke free?” Then asked second time, he said “If a man is busy, then he is busy” and a few more crap. Only stared at me like he is really busy with this bored-unhappy face. Such a funny guy that changed my mind about getting inside, so never tried this bar because of his childish behaviour. 1 star at the beginning :), so sad…
