Definitely an 'experience' and different from the others

We were extremely excited beforehand to eat at this restaurant. We had high expectations. If you’ve been to Izakaya, Momo, Nobu, Novikov or Zuma, this restaurant will absolutely disappoint you. The flavours are very uninspired. Wagyu with truffel mayo? Tuna with teriyaki sauce? C’mon.. our local sushi take away has more creativeness. Having said that, the price is on par with the restaurants I mentioned above. The quality of the fish is great. But there is just no flavour, inspiration and interesting combinations.

Ik weet dat Japanse vleesgerechten heerlijk is. In het 5 gangen menu kreeg ik van slechts 1 gang een blokje vlees van 2cm x3 cm. Heerlijk natuurlijk maar wel erg karig. Hetzelfde geldt voor de eerste gang met tonijn. Eenvolle thee lepel. Heerlijk maar erg weinig. Ik vroeg om extra wasibi. Hiervoor moest ik extra voor betalen. Niet van deze tijd

The atmosphere and service are certainly pleasant, but if you follow the many five-star reviews, you expect much more. The whole experience felt a bit rushed and uninspired, and the dessert portions are, in my opinion, too small for the price.

I hadn't been there in a while, but wow: what an explosion of flavors again, and the whole experience was still more than perfect. Had dinner again after a long time. And delicious! Pleasant host who understood and wanted to please us. Tip: for dessert I had sesame ice cream, which was served in a large cone. I understood that the ice cream is from De Hoop (always delicious), but there was so much whipped cream in the cone that it was far too dominant. I would say one more scoop of ice cream and half (or none) whipped cream...

Alles klopt hier ! De bediening is goed en erg attent. Ze zijn ook in voor een grapje en luchtig maar wel serieus in de uitvoering van hun werk. Daar hou ik van en maakt je avond compleet! Het eten is echt goed, verrassende smaken en voldoende! Een echte aanrader !

What a treat it is to be able to dine at the Red Sun. From arrival to departure, one big "Experience". The menu changes every 6 weeks and I don't know how they do it, but you are surprised every time. Simply wonderful. The personal attention makes it complete. You will see me again soon.

First experience at Redsun. Surprise menu taken. What a huge surprise. Really fantastic food. Everything, absolutely everything, is a great taste experience. The people who work there are also great hosts. We are fans and would love to come back. Make a reservation.

Food was good but not special, which you can expect for those prices. Presentation is great so you also expect a wow effect in terms of taste. Know enough Japanese restaurants where you eat better for half the price…

Had high hopes considering the reviews. The sushi rolls were really uninspired, the flavors didn’t compliment or stand out in any way.. I think the rolls didn’t have enough different ingredients/flavors to make anything interesting- all quite “simple”. I have had more creative and flavorful rolls elsewhere nearby (ie Keigo in Bussum). The recommended wagyu beef hand rolls “pre dinner bites” was just dry ground beef with a simple sweet sauce to add in ourselves… we thought “this is off to a bad start” and should have known to leave right then. No roll was great, but the vogelnest was particularly bad, really nothing good to say about that one. The black angus steak dish was just asparagus wrapped in thin slices of beef?? Usually love “creative” fusion sushi cuisine, but this was all a real miss.. very disappointing!

Sushi but different! Very special restaurant, pricey, but you get works of art in return, which cause a taste explosion, delicious!

Disappointing experience. We opted for the 7 course dinner, but the flavors were flat and the presentation messy. The sushi from our local takeaway is honestly better. The wine pairing was not complementary to any of the courses and was downright disappointing. The interior is reminiscent of an all-you-can-eat formula, which does not at all match the price tag of more than €100 per person. For this amount you can expect much more on all fronts.

What a mockery. We were here recently and it was very disappointing. For the ridiculous prices they charge, you at least expect to have had a decent meal. But no. Not suitable for adults. small portions that resemble an appetizer rather than a meal. We literally had to eat at home to avoid going to bed hungry. Reviews are correct. Price/quality makes no sense at all.

It was a wonderful culinary journey through the landscape of the Red Sun. Very high quality food. Very nicely presented at the table by the service who is pleasantly informal, with a wonderful sense of humor, but above all also knowledgeable about the products presented. And they were of exceptionally high quality. Everything was beautifully presented, making the 4 hours fly by. Recommended! EDIT: sushi evening was also incredibly good. It doesn't actually get much better. Absolute winners.

It's a shame that it is so expensive, otherwise we would go here more than once a year, but we think the price is definitely worth it, so we keep it as an exclusive dinner that we always look forward to!

I'm not really a review writer, but for The Red Sun I certainly wanted to make an exception! I grew up in Los Angeles Malibu where Nobu is the restaurant where I learned to eat sushi, tonight I really wanted to eat sushi and decided to try The Red Sun after several recommendations and picked up a few dishes. Everything I ate was full of flavor and melted in my mouth! I would like to thank you very much for the hospitality and good service! I'm looking forward to the dine-in experience!

Onze eerste keer bij the ter sun was helaas een tegenvaller. Bij binnenkomst werden we niet verwelkomd. Stonden een beetje om ons heen te kijken in de zaak met onze jassen aan. Na een paar minuten werden onze jassen dan toch aangenomen en mochten we plaatsnemen aan de bar. Ik had om 20u gereserveerd aan de bar bij de keuken. Om 20:50 kregen wij eindelijk een tafel aan de voorkant van het restaurant waar we niet om hadden gevraagd. Maargoed, we waren al lang blij want we hadden inmiddels flinke trek. Het eten was goed. Na een tijdje maar zelf gevraagd of we nog wat mochten dinken, inmiddels waren onze glazen al even leeg. Ambiance was kil, serveersters leken er weinig zin in te hebben. Op den duur waren wij de laatste in de zaak en kregen wij na de 6e gang direct de 7e gang. Uiteraard geen tijd meer voor koffie maar snel de zaak uit gebonjourd. Voor meer dan €100,- pp verwacht je toch wat meer van je avond. Voor ons helaas geen Red Sun meer

Ate at The Red Sun for the 5th time and went home really disappointed for the first time. The menu was not like last time, it lacked the “wow effect”. Think of served on salt stone, smoke, fire (Gold menu) The hostess seemed cold and distant, compared to other times we have dined at this place. They were also always late in setting the plates and cutlery and this only happened after the food had already arrived. Between the last course and dessert we were asked if we wanted coffee, we ordered coffee and it came quite quickly. Drinking coffee + friandise and after 25 minutes the dessert arrived. Badly timed… The dessert was what made me so excited in the past, but missed many elements from back then. (Stones, method of serving) Everything was reported to the hostess in question and she indicated that she would pass it on, that's it. No empathy or appropriate solution. No more red sun for us in the near future :(

Had dinner at The Red Sun with my girlfriend. We really liked it. The quality of the food was good, the staff was friendly and could tell you what you were being served and the restaurant was nicely decorated. We did the 7 course experience, highly recommended.

Had a delicious meal with a very large group of colleagues. The service was also very good. I had just found out at the time that I was pregnant, and this was still a secret from my fellow diners, so I had last minute dietary requirements (no raw meat etc) without my company being allowed to know the reason and this was all taken into account. taken into account.

We had the 8-course platinum experience with starters with 3 people. The food was tasty. The quantity was very disappointing. 5 of the 8 courses were the same amount as you get for 2 people. We could see this because the tables with 4 people received two portions per course (to be divided between two pairs). For three people you have to make do with one portion. Conclusion, I'm hungry to go home. The absolute low point was one course with two pieces of fish of less than 8 cm long to be divided among three adult gentlemen. We even asked the waitress if this was correct. The waitress didn't feel like it and didn't seem very helpful. One person in our group had the wine arrangement which was very good. Only half the time the waitress didn't know exactly what wine it was. I expected more from it. And that for 600 euros. Shame.

Top restaurant. In service and food

I have wanted to eat at The Red Sun for a long time. It all looks so good on Instagram...I just wanted to go there. We went with high expectations and those expectations were certainly justified. What a nice place with friendly people. Very kindly received. Indicated in advance that because of nah a table on the side would be very nice. That has certainly been heeded. You will be asked in advance whether there are any allergies and whether there are any ingredients you do not like. We chose the 7 courses. One dish would contain ginger paste. I don't like that, but my husband does. He then got the delicious fish with ginger paste and I got a delicious scallop. Everything is really beautifully presented and tastes just as delicious. The explanation for each dish is very clear. The sushi was also really next level. We had a wonderful time for 3 hours, had a fantastic meal with super friendly service. I’ve always been surprised that many Japanese restaurants in the Netherlands are run by Chinese staff, both in the kitchen and in service. The food is good, as long as you don’t mind whether it’s truly traditional Japanese cuisine or not. However, the service was disappointing.

Unfortunately not the evening we had hoped for. Upon entering it took a long time before someone came to receive us (didn't feel hospitable). Then our table was still occupied and we were put in the smoking area to wait. We didn't want that, so we sat in a corner at the bar. Then we ordered a drink but two out of four got the wrong drink. Not a good start to the evening... Once at the table, the service was reasonable, the food excellent. The wine was served very sparingly, glasses could be a little fuller for the money. The atmosphere in the restaurant was disappointing, a bit cold. All in all we lost a lot of money and we didn't think it was worth it.

Helaas niet de avond waar we op gehoopt hadden. Bij binnenkomst duurde het lang voordat er iemand kwam om ons te ontvangen (voelde niet gastvrij). Vervolgens was onze tafel nog bezet en werden we in de rokersruimte gezet om te wachten. Dat wilden we niet dus toen maar in een hoekje aan de bar. Vervolgens bestelden we een drankje maar kregen twee van de vier het verkeerde drankje. Geen goed begin van de avond dus... Eenmaal aan tafel was de bediening redelijk, het eten prima. De wijn werd zeer zuinig geschonken, glazen zouden wel iets voller mogen voor dat geld. Sfeer in het restaurant viel tegen, beetje kil. Al met al veel geld kwijt en dat vonden wij het niet waard.

Grandiose. Nicely decorated restaurant with a nice atmosphere. More than delicious food, all dishes were equally tasty. The service was extremely friendly and helpful. We chose various dishes from the menu, including the masterful jalapeno salmon, garlic Wagyu truffle and Japanese water stones. We will definitely eat here more often.

Zin in een lekker avondje uit, dus hier gereserveerd. Lofende vergaken gehoord maar vond de prijs kwaliteit beetje tegenvallen. We hadden het bronze menu gekozen maar het vlees gerecht was bijvoorbeeld echt wat karig voor drie personen (waaronder 2 heren) verder wel echt hun best gedaan voor mijn veganistische dieet. A friend and I eat here at least once a year, including last night. We like to order a la carte and yesterday it was fantastic again! The sashimi and sushi are of exceptionally good quality, which is why we like to drive from The Hague to Blaricum. We had a lovely quiet table for 2 people and the service was great. The only tip would be to turn the music down a bit or make it less present. If the restaurant is full, this can be a bit of a nuisance. But we will definitely come again next year!

We went to The Red Sun at the end of August (29 August) and had a delicious meal. We opted for the Platinum Experience (the 8 course menu). A true sensation for the taste buds. We enjoyed it from start to finish and were able to taste delicious new dishes. Ranging from extremely fresh sushi to a delicious “black cod” and wagyu A4, everything was prepared with the best ingredients and craftsmanship. Dishes are explained, as well as how the dishes should be eaten. Compliments to the gentleman who took care of this part. To add a point: we found the reception by a lady somewhat businesslike. In our view, this could be different, especially in this segment. It was also not clear to us where we should stand or where we would be received. Furthermore, we lacked good advice on choosing a good white wine. The red wine was clearly presented and we appreciated this advice. We would like to emphasize that the local manager/owner (bald man with glasses) is very friendly, and also makes the effort to speak to guests personally and tell them more about The Red Sun and the underlying concept. We also appreciated that. All in all, we enjoyed it immensely. We have already placed our next booking after the 4th course. See you soon!

Friendly and informal front of the house, and excellent kitchen staff. The tasting menu is an almost endless number of courses that are beautifully crafted. Wine menu is good too, but I would recommend asking for a sake pairing: Lilly makes it a truly special experience.

A little over priced but if you go on a special occasion then its definitely worth it

Because I can't give a 3.5, unfortunately it became a 3. I've been here a total of 6 times now. 1st time 5 years ago and it was really fantastic! A big 5+ The next time too. Also experienced a home experience during corona, which was wonderful! However, for the last 3 times now, the service ''for unknown friends'' has definitely not improved for me. Platinum Experience done yesterday and price/quality are no longer in balance. € 129, but the food is really no longer in balance. Also, almost nothing changes every time this menu is displayed. Served slightly differently instead of a salt stone, a mini grill, but no significant new flavors/things. It was all delivered very quickly and we had course 4 of the 8 within 50 minutes. Then we indicated that it could be a bit quieter. It was also very cold inside, I felt a lot of wind. I was dressed in summer clothes, it was 27 degrees after all and I was really cold inside. (So ​​take a cardigan with you when you go) The sushi bowl itself, with 8 sushis per person, I really thought only 2 were particularly tasty. The other 6 were really just like everywhere else. (I recently went to Ono in Rotterdam and maybe I was spoiled with the sushi there. It was really soooo good) The Sisal leaf at the Wagyu seemed to have been used several times when serving. Was already faded. The Black Cod, if I write it correctly, was really phenomenal, but the pieces of everything are really very small for 2 people. If you look at the price again, I mean. 2nd course a bowl with some sushi rice/fish and pickles and 3 loose nori sheets that you had to make yourself really misses the point. Barely any taste and honestly nothing special. The dessert is always the same and I think it should actually be served outside the courses as an extra from the restaurant if they really want to keep this. Water stone very tasty, mango rice thing not my thing and horn with scoop of ice cream and whipped cream....well....... What happened at the table next to us genuinely shocked me. These people had all ordered individual dishes. Everything came at once and the wagyu beef was already placed on their table. People indicated, yes, not everything at once. (logical too) So they took it with them and people got the fish first. The waiter came later to say if she wanted the wagyu quickly because it couldn't be kept for too long. HUH Wow....you heard the people thinking. Madam asked, so I'll just get the piece that you brought here to the table 20 minutes ago, but took with you again. The waiter says yes, we keep it warm SousVide. The lady says no, we would first like the chicken as ordered and only lastly the Wagyu.... to which the waiter says, I will discuss a solution. (I honestly think you are making a mistake, but you want to pass this problem on to the customer?) Meanwhile, the lady who took the order politely comes to say sorry. Completely fine, and then the other lady comes back and says, we have a solution. There is another table that ordered Wagyu and we can serve it to them straight away! Huh, so you order a piece of Wagyu as a new table (not cheap) and you get something that has been ready for a while and has already been served on another table? I really didn't think this was ok for this type of restaurant. (Besides, this will definitely be done more often, but don't tell LOL) So no return for me for now. I had a good meal, but for a bill of 320, everything is out of proportion. It's mainly about seeing and being seen.

Short but sweet, it was great! You were really treated like a king and everyone was super friendly and hospitable. The food was delicious and perfectly balanced! The interior looks beautiful and luxurious, the other tables are a bit closer together, but we did not find this to be a hindrance (perhaps if you have loud guests / you have a hearing aid). Ate here last night. A nice restaurant with very hospitable service. The food is really special and delicious. Nice to see the chefs at work behind the long glass counter. We will definitely come back again.

Despite reservation, waited twenty minutes for a table. Then we were told at the table that the salmon was gone. First this was explained with a pointless argument that it had been busy, then with a made-up story that they only work with fresh products. Later the monkey came out of the sleeve, products are delivered on Saturdays (so not fresh, which salmon often isn't anyway) and they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. So they opt for a very limited stock on Sundays. A profit consideration at the expense of the customer. When we expressed our disappointment, the waiter told us that they did not enjoy the conversation and walked away. Bizarre for a business with pretensions (and associated prices).

Once again had a great experience here. This time I chose the platinum experience and believe me... This name is more than appropriate. Highly recommended.

Dishes are delicious, nothing but praise for that! The restaurant space is without atmosphere and, in our opinion, does not match the price you pay. In terms of acoustics, very poor, we experienced a lot of inconvenience from the noise, which made it difficult to have conversations at the table (4 people). The tables are too close together and the dimensions of the tables are also tight. I expected a lot more, so it won't be repeated for us.

Last night we visited the Red Sun restaurant for the first time. We were warmly welcomed and the staff was very friendly. The way the food was presented and prepared on site was a special experience. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, there were also some negatives. We had opted for a golden tasting experience, where we enjoyed the food and conversations, but sitting at the table for four hours for eight courses, some of which are just small snacks, was too long for us. Guests who arrived an hour after us received their food significantly faster, with the same tasting experience. Moreover, we sat at the table for two hours without anyone asking if we wanted a new drink. With two people, tasting experience gold, 2 wines and a mocktail, we spent a total of 240 euros.

Visited on the recommendation of. The food was very tasty and you can tell and feel that everything was prepared and served with care. Dietary wishes are taken seriously and alternatives are discussed in advance. The atmosphere was good, and even though all tables were occupied, the service and experience were really excellent.

Every time it is more and more disappointing. This will be the last time for us. The food is mediocre yet overpriced. The whole presentation takes itself way too seriously, maybe cool in the early 2000s but not in 2024. Service itself is friendly but unprofessional. So yep, even though it’s close to home we won’t be coming back.

The redsun een begrip uit Blaricum dat was ook, zo’ n 4 jaar geleden. Er wordt op een luxe manier geseveerd met allerlei leuke effecten zoals altijd werd gedaan, echter de kwaliteit van het eten is nu ronduit slecht. Doordat het naam heeft en het gezien en gezien worden is, zijn er ook mensen die dat in stand houden en super tevreden zijn. De bediening is perfect op elk vlak niet te formeel, maar dat is ook afhankelijk per persoon. Het is een avond vullend programma, effecten bij het eten zijn leuk zien er goed uit en luxe. Maar de smaak valt over te twisten. Er zijn qua prijs, kwaliteit restaurants die ik eerder aanbeveel.

Had dinner at The Red Sun for the first time last night and thoroughly enjoyed the Bronze tasting experience, 6 course menu. What a taste sensation and what a presentation! Compliments to the chefs. My favorite course was the first course “bird's nest”. Definitely worth driving an hour to dine here! Points for the improvement go to the drinks. We found that there was too much ice in the glasses with coke, iced tea, or cocktails. We also didn't like the cocktail as much.

This place is a bit over-rated. The waiting time for table placement and the waiting time between dishes is too long. Moreover, after the aperitif I had to wait 20 minutes before anyone came to ask what we wanted to eat. The dishes are served with a lot of fuss, but the taste of many dishes is not what you expect from a restaurant with allure. The wine glasses are poured sparingly. The staff is friendly.

You don't experience that everywhere. Furthermore, a 10 plus for the service. Super friendly and good explanation of the dishes. They also asked our preferences in advance. My best Japanese food experience so far. Be ware to reserve a table in 2 months in advance. Their personal approach makes for a very pleasant night out. The food is absolutely amazing.

Mega disappointment, ridiculously expensive and inedible!!! We had the experience menu of 7-8 courses. First 3 rounds were tasty. Delicious sushi but.. Portions are extremely small. Really mini snacks for €10 per course. The courses after the 3rd were all very disappointing. We had half an eggplant that tasted of nothing and was a cheap product for €10. Also a piece of fried tough fish, kibbelingen are tastier. We ended up getting a bowl of rice because they were so hungry. The time between courses was also too long. The story was that they slowly built it up for a good experience, but in fact most of it was little, it took too long and more than half of it was not tasty... so we really do not recommend the experience menu. maybe a la carte is better... We spent more than €200 for 2 people and went home hungry and disappointed.

Sushi was disappointing. It all tasted like truffle instead of fish. Services was good friendly and professional. Ambiance was a bit dark for my taste.

Let me start with the least and then positive, purely my experience and not that of my table companions: The feeling when I went outside after eating was that the Price/Quality-Experience ratio was a 4. Once again I will first mention the bad things and then the positive ones (because there are plenty): No explanation on the menu, it would have been nice if they had asked if we are familiar with them and how it works. We opted for the Tasting Experience Sushi. I like surprises and I indicated that I did not want fish, which was no problem. You get 6 courses for 67.50 euros, and the taste was very disappointing for me, but that could be just me. The 6th course is desert. Very noisy which does not improve the experience. Too bad about the time slot, it feels even more commercial. Nice toilet but dirty, especially because there is 1 urinal and apparently people pee while standing on the regular toilet with the seat up! Music too present in terms of bass sound, for me it could be more zen music or light classical for the experience. I have a strong feeling that what's on my plate price-wise doesn't match what I have to pay at the end. Including drinks and glasses of wine, we paid €304 for the three of us and a total of €320 with tip. Especially the feeling that the value of what is on the plate is masked by all the good things. Perhaps because it is Blaricum and you pay a kind of extra entrance fee, which local residents may not mind. Positive things: Friendly reception Coat is accepted and returned when leaving. Beautifully decorated plates with tricks of smoke and flames and other fun gadgets. Very nice staff, big compliment! Nice space inside but can get noisy. Wine and drinks prices favorable. For anyone who reads this, it is my experience!

Het was ons eerste bezoek bij Red Sun. Ontvangst was vriendelijk en begeleiding naar de tafel ook. Maar daar bleef het bij, jammer. Had gevraagd of we eerder geweest waren of voor t eerst kwamen. Dan hadden we uitleg kunnen krijgen over de menu kaart. M’n partner is niet direct van de sushi en daardoor miste hij wat er wel voor hem te bestellen was. We maakte dus de verkeerde keuze wat ons gespaard had kunnen blijven als we vooraf een duidelijke uitleg hadden gekregen. Hierdoor miste wij een ultieme smaakbeleving. Verder erg veel lawaai daar. Niet ons ding en we kunnen ook niets anders geven dan een 6.

Ons gecombineerd 6e bezoek aan de Red Sun. Het eten is nog altijd even lekker. Prachtige bereidingen en top klasse ingredienten. Alle gerechten zijn pareltjes. Erg vriendelijke gastheer en gastvrouw die altijd een praatje komen maken. Het aan de tafel afmaken van de gerechtjes is mooi om te zien. De koks werken zeer netjes, de keuken is smetteloos. Graag benoemen wij wel 3 verbeterpunten: - Het tempo in de eerste 4 gangen was vrij vlot, daarna ging de vaart er behoorlijk uit. Zowel voor #5 als #6 hebben we significant langer gewacht. En voor het desert wachtten we zelfs meer dan een half uur. Dat is te lang. - Een persoon at geen vlees en kreeg daarom een hoofdgerecht met coquille. Lekker, alleen hierbij werd dezelfde rode wijn geserveerd als bij het vleesgerecht. Geen goede combi met de delicate coquille. De wijn werd soms ook te laat ingeschonken, als het gerechtje al op tafel stond. - Met 8 personen ruim €900 besteden. Dan mag iedereen wel een bonbon toch? Maar we bestelden 5 kopjes koffie / thee en dus kwamen er precies 5 setjes bonbons op de tafel. Een beetje kinderachtig in onze optiek. Hopelijk helpen deze suggesties om van de 8 een 10 te maken. Tot snel weer!

Complimenten aan het team van The Red Sun! Van het moment dat we binnenstapten bij The Red Sun, voelde de sfeer en gastvrijheid voor ons als een warme deken. Het personeel was behulpzaam en zorgde ervoor dat we ons gedurende de hele avond verzorgd voelden. Het 6-gangen sushi menu was een ode aan de culinaire kunsten - elke gang een inventieve uiting van smaak die niet alleen de smaakpapillen streelde, maar ook een feest voor de ogen was. De sushimeesters zorgden voor een parade van smaaksensaties. De ambiance van het restaurant droeg bij aan een gevoel van exclusiviteit. Als ik een minuscuul puntje van kritiek en verbetering zou mogen aangeven: een beschadigd bord en de muziek beter afstemmen op het thema van het restaurant. Ondanks deze kleine aandachtspunten, was de avond bij The Red Sun een feest voor alle zintuigen. Het is een ervaring die ik iedereen zou aanraden die op zoek is naar een culinaire reis die het alledaagse overstijgt. Conclusie: Voor hen die op zoek zijn naar een plek waar eten kunst wordt en service de schilder, biedt The Red Sun in Blaricum een ervaring die de verwachtingen overtreft. Het is een toevluchtsoord waar fijnproevers en levensgenieters elkaar ontmoeten om te genieten van het buitengewone.
