The Schuur in Hulst

A super nice shop with a large garden and patio on the edge of Hulst. The ladies are always very friendly. We'd love to come back!

The food was delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was friendly. We will definitely come back.

We went out for dinner with family. We enjoyed another delicious meal and friendly service. Afterwards, we relaxed and enjoyed a delicious ice cream and coffee.

Large parking lot Had a great meal with a large group of 15 people. You tell them what they want to eat two days in advance. We could choose from pork tenderloin, steak, fish stew, or scampi. It was really plenty and everyone enjoyed it. Desserts were also delicious. Come visit us. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays

Service and atmosphere are ok but the food left much to be desired. I am a fan of shrimp croquettes these are the worst I have ever eaten. No shrimp to be seen and no shrimp taste. More filled with starch. Also the steak that was ordered medium was served enormously overcooked and was tough. Too bad. Staff super friendly atmosphere is good in the barn.

We love The Schuur and never visit Hulst without enjoying the fantastic choice of beers and excellent food. But best of all is the amazing service and the helpful, friendly waitress who helps us with our Dutch.

The building behind is the restaurant. Very nice. When you arrive you are looking at an old building. It's beautiful back there.

Beautiful terrace in full sun, sheltered from the wind. We had a drink there. Prices are fair, PMR access. Possibility of eating there. We had the bitterballen (excellent!), the olives (large quantity) and the bread with special butter. Excellent ! Honestly very good. The children were sick, they remained friendly and helped us. Thanks to them! In terms of toilets, we appreciated that they were clean and large! The PMR toilet has a changing table and plenty of space. Payment is made inside, which gives the opportunity to see the large room with the beautiful chandeliers. Too bad we ran out of time, it looks like it would be nice to eat the evening meal there. Bicycle parking. Car parks are located nearby.

Verzorgde zaak met perfect terras bij zonnig weer. Vriendelijke bediening, eigen gratis parking, verzorgd sanitair. Aantrekkelijke kaart qua dranken en schotels. Zeker een bezoekje waard 👍, wij komen alleszins terug.

Delicious food in a beautiful quiet location with nice and friendly service.

Grandma's soup pork tenderloin and gourmets. Seniors ice cream after. Soup tasty, just the balls a little less (ready-made balls) There was no complaints about the pork tenderloin. You cannot serve industrial delicacies and bones this way. Dessert senior ice cream was a nice amount. Some ice in the ice. Overall care was otherwise ok Operation correct Speed, we didn't have to wait long. Price quality just a bit on the expensive side for what is offered. We're going to try again. But no more fish.

Quiet and cozy, ideal for a quick bite.

Eten was lekker, mooi terras ook! Maar: ik kan geen gefrituurde dingen eten dus ik vroeg of mijn keuze met pasta kon. Hier werd op geantwoord dat ze dat niet deden, terwijl er pasta gerechten op het menu staan! Beetje stom dat men dat dan weigerde. Reden waarom ik niet terug ga.

Met een groep van zowat 50 Jaguar-liefhebbers maakten we hier een stop voor een lunch. Gezellig interieur, en de bediening ging zelfs voor zo'n grote groep heel vlot. We proefden een broodje met rundscarpaccio en met gerookte zalm. Prima allemaal.

Despite the very hot day last Sunday, the staff is super friendly, they always are there the kitchen is a 10, chicken satay is delicious there! Make sure you are hungry because it is a decent portion, salads also delicious, great address, nice location, inside or outside!

We ordered a salad with fries for dinner because we weren't very hungry. We got more than enough fries and the salads were generously filled. Highly recommended. The chef rightly exceeded our expectations. That doesn't happen often in restaurants anymore. The staff is very friendly and happy to help! We will definitely come back again.

Top location. Just a shame that you didn't get any service after half an hour. However, 3 waiters present and at least 1 behind the bar for drinks. And it wasn't that busy. This was the second time we experienced this in 2 months. I was spoiled with culinary delights at the competition. Maybe we should all take a catering course together.

Cozy terrace. A downside is the Dame Blanche ice cream with chocolate from the bottle, making your own hot chocolate sauce is really not difficult and ready immediately.

Very bad place, the staff is not friendly, the bar waitress this afternoon at 1:40 p.m. did not want to answer me normally… The food is defrosted and is really poor quality… Unpleasant experience, I don't recommend this place to anyone! If you want to be treated with respect, go somewhere else. Restaurants like The Schuur disgust me.

Grandma's stew. From the freezer just like the potato croquettes. Very little salad, 2 small leaves of lettuce and 2 sliders of tomato and cucumber. A large scoop of corn from a jar. Does not belong in fresh salads. In short, the stew tasted great but was not fresh from grandma's kitchen. The brasserie is simply a large snack bar where too much money is charged for what is offered. And too few staff to provide the right service. I tipped €12 because they could offer 2 of my favorite Trappists.

It is of course personal, but for the first time in my life I did not eat my food in a restaurant... the steak and roquefort sauce were really not tasty and also hot enough, so the steak was quickly cold. The fries were also not tasty, simple fries with lots of herbs. Steak not recommended, maybe the rest would be tasty. The lady at the counter was nice

Reserved on Friday (10 people) for the next day. 50 years anniversary in the sun. It would be 24 degrees. When I arrived at the Schuur I was surprised. Beautiful location and garden, playground for the children, but.... Unfortunately...we were allowed to sit inside. There were still long tables available outside, but due to staff shortages we were not allowed to sit there. "You must indicate this when you make your reservation if you want to sit outside," was the answer. Then we left to look for another lunch spot, which is very difficult with 10 people and nice weather. Not hospitable at all.

There is some confusion at our table about the name The Schuur. Is it a tea barn, as a counterpart to a coffee shop? Or did they not know the English name for the word shed? When asked, the employee was also unable to give us a definitive answer. Then consult their website; Unfortunately there is no answer to our question there either. We noticed on the website that there are no prices listed for the dishes. Why the mystery? Most of the dishes' prices are a bit on the high side, maybe that's the reason? The interior is as you would expect from a barn; simple and functional. It's nice that there is plenty of distance between the tables. The service is attentive. Don't expect any culinary delights or surprises from the kitchen, but do expect generous portions, tasty prepared. The menu often contains dishes that you often encounter in cafes. Unfortunately it is not possible to get a carafe or bottle of tap water. The latter plus the lack of prices results in a star deduction for this review.

Buitengewoon lekker gegeten. De kaart is zeer gevarieerd. Prijs/kwaliteit verhouding is top. Hoeveelheden zijn enorm. Vriendelijk personeel en leuke entourage. Wij zijn zeer tevreden en komen zeker terug!

Alleen nog maar enkele keren op het terras iets gedronken, maar de bediening was goed en het was zalig vertoeven onder de grote parasols.

Just outside the walls of Hulst, this is a good place to relax after a walk or cycling trip in and around Hulst. The restaurant has a very nice terrace next to a small grass field (with some swinging chairs) and a little play ground. They offer quite some special (Belgian) beers and the kitchen is just good quality - nothing more, nothing less.

Wat een geweldig restaurant. heerlijk vers eten wat nog betaalbaar is ook. alles spettervers . mooie ligging. vriendelijk personeel. heerlijke zitjes. niets op aan te merken. ik begrijp de reactie van klagers en zeurders hier dan ook totaal niet. ene Philip van Hove uit de recensies, een heer die over elk restaurant wat te klagen heeft zoals ik hier op Tripadvisor las , en die graag andermans zaak naar beneden haalt met vette leugens, zou zelf eens moeten gaan werken in de horeca. alles wordt gedaan om het klanten naar de zin te maken in de Schuur. men denkt in oplossingen. ik beveel de Schuur ten zeerste aan. iedereen heeft keuze uit een ruime kaart met lage prijzen. waar vind je dat nog ?

Heerlijk op teras gezet. Kinderen kunnen buiten spelen en binnen bij warm weer airco. Eten lekker en verzorgd.

Goed alleen het roken op het terras was er te veel aan en ik weet het het mag

Vanavond gegeten: 1 pizza, 1 pasta en 2 salades. Salades.waren van zeer bedroevend niveau en de pizza was bruin gebakken en steenhard. Vriendelijke mensen wel en de pasta was volgens onze zoon wel echt lekker!!!

Heerlijk rustig terras, super vriendelijk personeel. Lekkere tosti gegeten. Binnen ziet er ook heel leuk uit! Ruime gratis parkeerplaatsen voor bezoekers.

Gisteren na een fietstochtje wilden we even wat drinken. Bij aankomst is het verharde terras helemaal volzet, maar gelukkig is er nog een graspleintje met meerdere lege tafels. Niettegenstaande dat er op dat moment nog meerde klanten op het gras met een drankje zitten, komt er niemand van het personeel een bestelling noteren. Na een 20-tal minuten komen er nog andere gasten plaats nemen op het gras en zij worden er vrijwel onmiddellijk op gewezen dat ze daar niet bediend gaan worden. Enkel service op het verharde gedeelte. Bizar, want het is een zonnige dag ener staan minimaal een tiental tafels met parasols op het gras. Wat ons nog het meest ergerde was dat onze tafel minder dan 5m van het verharde gedeelte stond. Kortom we hebben hier te maken met personeel zonder flexibiliteit, dat helemaal niet klantvriendelijk is. Blijkbaar is het betere personeel de horeca ontvlucht. Aan de dame in kwestie : ga aan de slag in een tattooshop of afslankcenter, daar zal je beter op je plaats zitten.

Nog nooit zulke lekkere spareribs gegeten! Heerlijk. De bediening is perfect. Het terras aan het water is mooi. De hond kan mee!

Wij komen hier met enige regelmaat samen of met z'n viertjes dineren. Vandaag wilden wij hier weer onze auto parkeren om na afloop aan ons bezoek in Hulst wat te gaan eten en drinken. Wij parkeerden naast de ingang van de keuken en wilden weglopen naar de stad, waarop de kok/eigenaar die wij nooit in de zaak hebben ontmoet , naar ons toekwam en vroeg of wij niets kwamen eten of drinken. Uitgelegd dat wij naa afloop van ons bezoek aan de stad terug zouden komen voor een drankje en dat wij regelmatige klanten van zijn zaak zijn. Dit was niet naar de zin van de kok. Hij stelde dat ik dit had moeten melden want iedereen kon zo wel bij hun parkeren. Ondanks dat ik nogmaals uitlegde dat wij regelmatige gasten waren, bleef hij mij duidelijk maken dat hij hier niet van gediend was, waarop ik hem heb meegedeeld dat wij nu nooit meer zouden komen dineren en gelijk weer zouden vertrekken. Daar was de kok het geheel mee eens en zo zijn wij vertrokken om hier nooit meer terug te keren.
