Tjaps Pub looks like a fantastic place for a relaxed meal with plenty of exciting flavours. The menu offers tempting choices such as steak tartare, bavette, salmon, chicken and waffles, Black Angus burgers and a flavorful pumpkin-coconut curry. The charcoal-grilled dishes sound especially appealing, while desserts like stroopwafel mousse and mango bavarois provide a delicious finish. I also like the variety of sharing plates and fresh sides. Overall, Tjaps Pub seems like a great spot for good food, a lively atmosphere and an enjoyable evening with friends.

Nice, casual place, friendly young staff, and a pretty impressive selection of beer on tap. We didn't go for the beer, though, but for the cocktails. And fortunately, they were excellent. 🍸 We started with some bread. Always tasty. A mix of warm mini sourdough rolls with olive tapenade arrived, along with a small bowl containing a white substance that, even after some investigation, we still couldn't determine exactly what it was. Aioli, perhaps? No way. Way too thin, and the taste wasn't even close. Curious as we are, we called over a member of staff anyway. It turned out it actually was aioli. 😳 We asked if she had ever tasted it herself. She hadn't. We cautiously indicated that, as far as we were concerned, this really wasn't aioli. She didn't quite know what to make of that, so a little later, we were sitting alone again with our bowl of mysterious sauce. After that, we ate the Spicy Sweet 'n Sour Burger, and it was simply delicious. Burger €21.50, bacon on the side €1.50, and fries another €4 separately. So that brings you to €27 for a hamburger with bacon and fries. Maybe I'm getting old, but deep down I think that with a €23 burger, a portion of fries should just come along. 🍔🍟 Anyway, aside from my brief economic observation regarding today's hamburger prices, we simply had a good meal here. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, good cocktails, and a fine burger. Conclusion: definitely a nice spot for a casual evening. And that aioli? Perhaps we witnessed an experimental new liquid variant. 😉

A valuable addition to Vathorst

We were initially seated at a high table and were asked if we wanted to move to another table—no problem—but the wine, glasses, water, etc., were not moved; I had to do that myself, so that is not good service. Furthermore, we found the food disappointing. The ambiance, on the other hand, is cozy but noisy.

Hidden gem with a great beer selection and atmosphere. Côte de boeuf is highly recommended!

Nice concept with beautiful, simple dishes and fine beers to choose from. Oddly enough, they don't have them on a physical menu; you have to go to the bar or scan a QR code. The only place that has Goose Islands from different years in its selection. That really deserves a solid 10!

Incredibly good beers on tap! Point for improvement: At 4:00 PM, there was a 'Reserved' sign on almost every table, even though the reservation wasn't for 7:30 PM or later. This is not inviting. Tip: Use signs with “Reserved from …. hours”

The food was delicious. We ordered steak and beer. The atmosphere was stylish and cozy. The waiters were pleasant. The prices were reasonable.

A cozy, modern bar/restaurant with 23 specialty beers on tap. There's a craft beer shop next door, right in the heart of Vathorst.

Damn, man, what a horrible place. The atmosphere outside is especially terrible. Don't even get me started on the inside! I'm definitely never coming back.

Cool bar, with a varied selection of beers available on tap and some of them were really good beers. Service was reasonably efficient and friendly too. Nicely decorated and has an American feeling to it. I didn't have any food, partly because of the price. Eighteen euro for a burger, but that doesn't include any chips with it, they are extra. They also won't let you try the beers, which I didn't like. You can get tasters, but sometimes I just want a quick taste of a beer, to see if I like it. Overall though, I liked the bar and selection of beers available.

Great place for a good beer in a cozy atmosphere. I've been a few times now, so it's time for an objective review. The food is pretty good. Creative dishes, at least, although the menu doesn't really seem to have much variety. Tzatziki, imaginative bao buns, a (slightly dry) s'mores dessert, a bit of meat, a bit of fish. A bit Italian, a bit Asian. It's quite diverse, but doesn't excel anywhere. The meat dishes are a bit salty, and think twice about ordering bacon with your burger, because it's cooked way too hard and almost black. A shame. The dishes with Italian cheese are heavily defined by the cheese, as the Parmesan slices are cut far too thickly. There's room for improvement. The service leaves a bit to be desired. The girls are very young, but friendly, and have no experience in the restaurant, and it shows. They don't yet know how to handle your comments about the food. They don't provide serrated knives, but regular knives, even though you have to cut a 15cm burger. That might seem a bit of a lack of insight, but even at this establishment, they're happy to have staff who are willing to come and work. All in all, it's worth it for the occasional beer and a small snack, but in our opinion, there are better places in Vathorst if you're spending over €200 for a meal for four people.

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant, interesting menu options and attentive and enthousiastic staff that listen to their customers. We ordered one starter and two main courses, and mentioned (but not very explicitly) that my partner would grab some bites of the starter, he still got a separate plate and cutlery. Beer options are good which was to be expected from the owner that has a beer store next door ;) The only minor improvement I can think of is letting customers add maple syrup themselves to dishes that use it, like the waffles and chicken. The waffle was a bit dry and some more syrup might have made this good dish even better. Will definitely come back to taste more!

This cozy and inviting beer café/eatery is located in the center of Vathorst. Tjaps is owned by the same owner as the beer shop next door, which is truly fantastic. Tjaps offers a wide variety of specialty beers on tap (no fewer than 23), from their own brews and standard blond ale to exclusive stouts and IPAs. The taps change regularly, giving a dedicated beer lover another reason to visit regularly. The beers are available in 15cl taster, 25cl, and 50cl sizes. There are also several bottled beers, as well as non-alcoholic options and other drinks. The establishment is small-scale and has a modern, industrial design. This makes the setting quite dark, but this is offset by excellent lighting, ensuring it never feels too dark. The seating areas are located at the sides, accommodating six people at a table. High dining tables are set up in the center. If you prefer a more traditional traditional Dutch pub, I would personally recommend exploring elsewhere. The food is excellent for a cafe, not just the standard burgers and fries, but also more sophisticated dishes like sushi, fish, gyoza, and delicious desserts. The menu changes regularly. Also, pay attention to the details, like the urinals shaped like beer kegs. The service is excellent, with mostly young, enthusiastic, and attentive staff. All in all, a nice place for a pleasant evening of drinks.

I used to come here regularly, but unfortunately, the service has become truly terrible. The staff is childish, especially the young woman with her hair in a ponytail. I have no idea who hired her, but I've never been treated so rudely.

The worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We went to Tjap expecting a pleasant evening after an exhausting and sad day, but instead encountered a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. First, it took an unreasonably long time for anyone to even bring us menus, despite us asking for them twice. Once we finally placed our order, we waited for an entire hour before a waitress came to inform us that, due to a “technical issue,” our order had never gone through. While she apologized and offered two free drinks, it was strange that this issue seemed to affect only our table. Still, we were willing to be understanding, sometimes mistakes happen. Unfortunately, things only got worse. Half an hour later, our food still hadn’t arrived. A different waiter came and told us that there was only one cook in the kitchen and that delays were to be expected. However, we kept seeing other tables receive food (burgers, fries, appetizers, even desserts), while we continued to wait with nothing. After a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes — and still no food, not even a side of fries — we gave up and went to the supermarket to eat. The way the situation was handled felt incredibly disrespectful. We were not only left waiting while hungry, but were also given conflicting explanations and no real solution. I’ve had experiences at other restaurants where similar issues occurred, but they were handled quickly and professionally. That was not the case here. Tjap’s lack of accountability and care for their guests left a terrible impression. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I can't even leave my opinion on the food since it never came.

This is a regular address for a special beer of mine. Special is that the beers are very friendly priced. The service is very young, sometimes a bit clumsy, but always friendly. Also the internet range is not good, wifi often does not work, because of this you can not always check in on Untappd, too bad!

Invited to my birthday by my son, what a wonderful gift. It was so nice, great. Vathorst district Amersfoort, have a cup of coffee at Tjaps, beautiful location in the middle of the square. We were neatly guided by young, friendly, well-trained staff. The location felt warm inside and was cooled by many different types of beer that we enjoyed quietly and deliciously. Parking around the corner!!!!! We will definitely come back again, we will enjoy it again

We had a nice meal there, tasty snacks, a beautiful and tasty burger and an ok sucade, the sucade from the sous vide is tasty but lacks character, and perhaps that is the difference that can be made, the place lacks character, in the interior and in the dishes, passion and character would earn an extra star.

Nice beer, very nice and kind staff. I would expect the coating of chicken burger a little bit thinner and I would not recommend the “gambas” because I tried once and could not eat half of the shrimps because the “long, thin black line” (digestive tract) on the back of the shrimp was still there and this can be dangerous.. apart from the shrimp I’m quite happy with here, the burgers are really good the borrel snacks are good and the variety of brewery beer is nice.

Highly recommended in Vathorst, nicely decorated, delicious food and a wide choice of different types of beer and good advice/good suggestions. The choice on the menu is diverse, meat (bavette is recommended), delicious burgers and fish, which are very tasty. Vega is limited. The downside is how little liquor they pour. We gave well-intentioned tips on a number of points and this was handled rather defensively instead of indicating that it would be discussed. The terrace is spacious and in a nice, sunny spot.

Lovely terrace in the sun or shade. Nowadays, staff rarely come long after your glass is empty, but that is certainly not the case at Tjaps! Great service and extensive menu!

On July 19, around 6:30 PM, we had a bite to eat and a drink with a friend. Enjoy sitting on the terrace in the nice weather. Wonderfully close to home. We shared an appetizer to get in. After this we both had a main course. There is nothing to complain about the quality of the food. The price is a bit on the more expensive side, but the quality is worth it. However, there were a few things that we found less, mainly focused on the service. We had the feeling that the waitress was still very inexperienced and had not been properly trained to work on the terrace on a busy day. She regularly asked if she could be of any help, but this actually came across as a bit too present and we had the feeling that she could not contribute anything to comments. We understand that the cook was alone that day and was still able to put good quality and fast food on the table. - we asked if the coconut coriander yogurt on the vegetarian burger could be replaced. The waitress did not know this. When she asked if she could inquire about this, the answer came; Yes, I'd rather not and actually the only choice is no sauce. - another table asked how long it would take for the food to be ready. The waitress asked this to another colleague across the terrace. Which one answered; Yeah, I don't know all that either. - we asked if the waitress could recommend a beer. She couldn't answer this because she didn't like beer. - we ordered fries which did not arrive. The waitress was visibly shocked that we asked for this after our main course had already been on the table for 10 minutes. We then received the message that we now had to put this in the fryer and that we would have to wait a little longer if we still wanted this. We received a verbal apology while the error was clearly visible to the waitress. A compensation for this would have been nice. - we asked for the price of the beer board. In our opinion, this was a tasting that would surprise you. However, didn't this price depend on which beers you chose? That is why we chose to order the beers separately as the shelf was not an advantage in our eyes. All in all, a few points that we would have seen differently and that make us doubt whether we will come back again for dinner. We would still do this for a drink.

Don't let the view from the outside stop you (it doesn't look like a pub/open from outside) very nice selection of beer and nice food.

Nice place, good food and drinks with spontaneous staff

Well, it has a very nice interior of black wood with a brutalist/industrial look, with some nature through it. The waitstaff is very friendly and helpful. Too bad my wine was forgotten. The burger was also slightly more medium than desired, otherwise very richly filled, attractive to the eye and very tasty. For the price of just under €19 you don't get fries, hence the 3 stars for the food. A burger alone is simply not filling enough and for that price I expect fries, I think €4.5 extra for fries is outrageous. I was recommended a VAT'33 from their own brewery. I had a wheat beer of 5%. The beer was very tasty with a large and long foam layer and a long aftertaste, a good but balanced acidity with some floral notes.

Sorry, but 5 euros for a white wine with 2 sips of content is really crazy. I understand that it is difficult to earn something, but this is really not possible. Quite a nice location.

Come in for something to eat, then (apparently) the 2 employees sit at the bar on their laptop. We sit down, after 7 minutes nothing, then I asked the lady if they work here, she looked at me as if I was asking the stupidest question. Then I ran away. If this were my staff they would have to stay away immediately

Zeer goede gezellige sfeer. De plek in Amersfoort om ongedwongen speciaal bier te drinken. Tjaps bevindt zich in het centrum van Amersfoort Vathorst hierdoor is er voldoende parkeergelegenheid. Ik raad echter niet aan om met de auto te gaan want het bier is hier heerlijk. Met veel verschillende bieren van de tap is er voor iedereen wat wils. De kaart is goed samen gesteld en de gerechten worden met grootste zorg bereid. Tijdens de mooie zomer dagen is het mogelijk om buiten op het terras te zitten. Met de koudere wintermaanden zit je heerlijk binnen. Binnen is de mogelijkheid om naar verschillende sport wedstrijden te kijken of pak een spel bij de bar. Kort om een locatie om zeker te bezoeken!

We kwamen hier binnen op een drukke zaterdag avond. Toch maakten ze even een (later) gereserveerd tafeltje voor. We deden hier een drankje en besloten in de buurt sushi te eten, aangezien we dit ‘crave-de’. Dus kunnen helaas het eten niet beoordelen. Daarom heb ik deze leeg gelaten. De bediening was uiterst attent, zelfs toen we onze beslissing doorgaven. Heel vriendelijke en begripvolle serveerster. Prijzen zijn ook prima, voor drinken en eten. Witte wijn bv. €4,50. Komen hier zeker terug voor een diner!!

Great little find, middle in vathorst. Worth a visit on a sunny day, the tap beer is amazing! And the food is great as an addition, worth a drink with friends or family. Kids can play in the shopping centre playgrounds, so all are happy!

De perfecte tent als je op zoek bent naar exclusieve speciaalbieren. De kwaliteit is bijzonder goed en het eten ook erg lekker. Ook is dit goed te combineren met het kijken van sport, alle zenders hebben ze beschikbaar.

Erg lekker eten en vriendelijk personeel! Als ze nu verschoning tafel hebben voor babys en iets grotere TV’s voor de formule 1 voor als je iets verder zit dan vooraan, dan is zeker 5 sterren !

Veel verschillende soorten bier. Ook op de tap. Kom er regelmatig om op het terras gezellig een biertje te drinken. Paar keer ook een heerlijke echte burger gegeten. Vriendelijk personeel. Een aanwinst voor Vathorst!

Wow, what appears to be a little shopping center restaurant from the outside turns into a modern sports bar food café. Come hungry order the chicken and waffles starter... it...is...amazing!!! Combined with good service, a great beer selection and you have a great night out... Update: The burgers are just soo good, yes they're pricey, but the quality & quantity is there. They also carry local brews now and the service remains really good, attentive and caring.

Heerlijke tent in centrum Vathorst met een zonnig terras, veel verschillende biertjes en een uitstekende borrelkaart. Tip, Probeer de Nachos Pulled Pork.. Echt een aanrader en genoeg voor een lunch voor 2.

Heel apart. Allerlei bieren om te proeven en na afloop is het urinoir zelfs gemaakt van een biervat…. Eten kun je er ook en hoe! Zeer beperkt menu van burgers en steak. Maar die beperktheid wordt met kwaliteit goed gemaakt. De burgers waren prima. Duur maar goed. De wijn A 7,50 euro per glas is eigenlijk te duur Het beste was het dessert. Koffie crème brulée met kaneel ijs sublieme combinatie.

Goede hamburgers en lekkere (bijzondere) bieren

Lekker eten, vooral de zoete aardappel frietjes zijn een aanrader naast alle lekkere burgers. Ook het bieraanbod is erg uitgebreid. De Poes Blond was een aanrader kan ik zeggen!

Een geweldige tent! Heerlijke bieren (ook van eigen brouwsel) en ongelofelijk goede gerechten op de kaart, bijna alles lekker klaar gemaakt op een houtgrill! De bediening is mega vriendelijk en behulpzaam! En heb je zin om een tap biertje mee naar huis te nemen? Dan kan dat met hun origineel inbliksysteem! Tjaps is hoe dan ook de moeite waard om langs te gaan en te genieten!

Het begon mooi en een goede aanwinst in Vathorst, maar wordt helaas steeds minder en kwaliteit neemt af.. 7 man personeel en niemand begroet ons en blijven gezellig met elkaar praten. Na 20min. een drankje gekregen, glas wijn €6,50 en wederom zeer zeer zuinig gevuld. Eten besteld, maar moesten wel een uurtje wachten want de keuken had het druk, maar wel 7 man personeel die alleen elkaar veel te vertellen hadden.. Ook de prijzen zijn het niet waard. Eten afgezegd en bij Dims gegeten met vriendelijke en goede ontvangst.

Combi tussen een restaurant en een biercafe. 15 bieren op de tap en verder is bijna alles te bestellen vanuit de naastgelegen bierwinkel. Het restaurant biedt met name gerechten van de grill. Prima maar wel aan de prijs.

It's a nice place to start your day or to finish your day:) Very good and tasty food it really surprises you when you walk in and what I liked the most is the very unique design . As for the prices , the prices are normal and not exaggerated for the quality of the food that this place offers you. I gladly recommend you to try it🙏

Biertjes en borrelhapjes op een zondagavond. Voor herhaling vatbaar maar was te rustig om echt een goed oordeel te geven. Wel prettig en attent personeel.
