van der Ree Cafetaria en Brasserie BV in Westwijk

I find the staff very unfriendly, unprofessional, and very, very rude! We received weird comments directed at us. I grabbed a napkin and my boyfriend said he would just grab a stack too, then the lady with the reddish-brown hair and glasses said in a very strange tone, "Just take one," so I said it's just a joke, you know, and then she said, "You never know with him." Just to be clear, we don't know her and never chat with her. Eventually, we got our fries and I opened the bag and saw a really tiny amount of mayonnaise in my container, so I went back. I showed it and asked if I could get some more sauce because this isn't possible! Then she said that would be 1.50. CRAZY, so I said, "Okay, can I speak to the manager?" and the manager came out after 2 minutes, after some whispering in the back. The manager remained polite and explained why we couldn't get extra sauce without paying. Furthermore, the older lady with blonde hair is super sweet and nice!

The food here is always fantastic! The service is top-notch! And the atmosphere here is amazing! Highly recommended for everyone!

Today, for the first time, we waited an hour even though we had a reservation. After 20 minutes, I spoke to them and the daughter said, "You have your drink now, right?" And then after 35 minutes, you ask where your rosé is because my son had received his carafe of water. We didn't even get a menu, and again received annoying comments: "Yeah, it's busy even though you have a reservation..." 🙈 In the end, we waited an hour and were told that the food would take another 20 minutes, while the guests behind us—4 people who arrived just before us in terms of time (we asked about it, that's why)—had already finished eating! After waiting for an hour, I went to complain and got more excuses: busy, blah blah blah... I've been sitting at Oude Stoep for less than 5 minutes now; it's fully booked inside and out. Within 5 minutes, baguette and drinks; you could learn a lesson from that!

It's really spotless here. I've rarely seen a shop that is so neat and clean.

The food was a bit on the meager side... I was with people who didn't eat too much, but that small bowl of fries for 4 people... I could finish it all by myself, and the vegetables were more for 2 people.

I asked to go to the toilet and they said it was only for regular customers. I didn't say anything and paid. I'll never come here again. I'll go to the three jumps, those people never make it difficult to go to the toilet.

I had a show and we ordered delivery from Van der Ree Horeca. The fries were REALLY dry and cold. They came without sauce, and the snacks tasted awful.

Being part of a large group of more than 15 people, we were asked to leave the place 2 of us because, besides what we ordered, we were eating our own sandwich. I never experienced, having lived in many countries, such a spectacular rude behaviour from a restaurant. What was exactly the problem on letting us eat our sandwich when we ordered food also from the place, that was empty of other customers?. Are they in need of proving a point or they are simple rude and uneducated on how to treat and behave around customers?.

€6.50 for a double espresso, only to be told you can only use the restroom while eating. These prices/methods are unheard of in Rotterdam city center.

I experienced extremely poor service this week... a heavily pregnant woman couldn't use an outdoor chair because she was too big for it. She wasn't allowed to use one inside. I tried to get her to move the chair outside, but the man thought it was too expensive and wouldn't make an exception! OUTRAGEOUS!!

We have just arrived in Vlaardingen and thought we would get a nice bite to eat at Van Ree. You cannot order at the counter and sit at a table. You first have to sit at a table and then you are served. The 2 of us and 2 fries on 2 plates and 2 special frikandels each in plastic containers next to the fries. Add 2 soft drinks. We had to pay €32, 1 frikandel special costs more than €4. We will definitely never come here again! The atmosphere was ruined for us.

1 negative point, the described weight of the ribeye is certainly not 300 grams but rather 230 grams.

Shame! We thought we had a location in Vlaardingen again where you can eat well and not too difficult. Unfortunately, Ree is unable to approach the quality of a Brasserie and it is no more than a simple Cafeteria. First a raw angus burger is served. They will take it back, but they will not take back my wife's meal, so we cannot eat together. However, a drink on the house is offered for the inconvenience. My wife ordered a super cheese soufle to eat at the same time as me. After 10 minutes the basic cheese souffle comes. The new Angus burger only arrives after 20 minutes, so eating together is not possible. The new angus burger was now well done but served with cheddar cheese. While the menu says Old Amsterdam. That really makes a difference in terms of cheese and taste. I don't like cheddar cheese. Can happen, but it is very sloppy for a 2nd attempt. I indicate that I am not happy, that I do not like cheddar cheese and that I am actually not hungry anymore. The owner's response is remarkable: - I shouldn't make a fuss about cheddar cheese; -They have never had any complaints since they opened; -It is normal if 1 person has to wait for their food again that you cannot eat together; - It was resolved with a free drink! If we indicate that we do not agree with this, then we are being unreasonable according to the owner. The owner likes to enter into discussions. We do not respond to this and ask for the bill. This is followed by an unspecified receipt. If we want to see the structure of the bill, we have to go to the cash register to look at the cash register. Fine, we pay for what we have consumed minus 1 drink (on the house) and leave. NO for van Ree.

We had to wait 50 minutes for the food and then received a very expensive bill. And after asking, getting the answer, I have no energy for this conversation. If we had sat in a different place we would have had plastic cutlery and the bill would have been cheaper...

Good and helpful caterer, the first time I indicated how many people were coming and what the budget was. I was helped very nicely and I now come back for parties at home for the quality, service and trust. The agreements are kept and if something is forgotten, it is delivered promptly. The quality of the products is good, a nice, neat team that helps you on the phone or in the new brasserie. My husband and I, but especially our guests, are satisfied with the quality. You don't have to be ashamed if you have a small budget, as a human being you are treated politely and well and I appreciate that. Monday March 6, 2023. Ate here around 1530. Beautiful dining opportunity. Beautiful tables, excellent chairs. Quality fries...good and tasty. Croquette was a bit on the greasy side..... The plate was nicely prepared with some salad. The coffee was also fine. With a cookie. Small glass of liqueur with whipped cream..clean cutlery. Friendly service. Very nice clean toilets...the key must be requested from the staff. Toilets are only for customers who have something to eat. The owner has set up a nice restaurant at this location with many dishes on the menu...with friendly staff... Yes, this will make you happy.
