Delicious coffee and pastries. Very friendly service!

On December 5th I picked up something for Christmas Eve, but when I got home I saw that the best-before date had already passed by 2 days.

The food is just fine, but the service is terrible. I often got the wrong thing, and once, when I told her I'd ordered something different, the woman said I had ordered the other item, but I'm allergic to the product I received, so I definitely didn't order it. She gave me quite an attitude, which I found inappropriate.

My mother recently went there to pick up a too-good-to-go box and was laughed at by a woman in her 50s with blond/gray hair. I've read several reviews here that seem to be about the same woman. Maybe this woman isn't the right place to work. Disgusting behavior!

It used to be a good shop with reasonable prices and delicious products. Suddenly, for example, the hazelnut meringue cake is no longer available. There are almost only expensive, soggy schnittes in all variations. The marzipan cake is made with cheap fondant, not marzipan, and the contents are completely flavorless. Many products are sold out before lunchtime, such as the hard rolls. Only the hard-boiled rose rolls are left. The olive/tomato rolls are unfortunately only available on weekends. The staff changes weekly, so they don't know what to do and are being trained on a busy Saturday. They also mostly chat with each other, and you can sometimes easily wait half an hour before you can order. Inflation is about 30% per year. This used to be my favorite bakery, but I won't be going there again. Van Vessem is 1000 times worse, by the way, so I'm afraid I'll have to bake my own bread.

Delicious selection of bread! Only the well-meaning young ladies behind the counter could use a little more training, especially when it comes to efficiency. Almost all of them are quite slow.

Heemstede location. There were plenty of staff, but they had little insight into clearing tables. They were busy talking amongst themselves. I ordered a toasted sandwich with cheese. It came with a very thin slice of cheese. When I reported it, it was brushed aside. I should have mentioned it sooner... Not very customer-friendly. Judging by the other reviews I just read about it, Van Maanen apparently isn't doing anything about it. It's a shame.

I frequent this bakery and have had the same woman (gray/blonde hair with glasses, around 50) several times, and she's just not good... something went wrong, and I ask if I can have the correct drink, and she says I should have said it differently, even though my friend clearly heard me say it correctly. She almost threw my correct drink on the table. Super unprofessional and passive-aggressive. This isn't my first experience with this woman, by the way.

I waited for my glass of water over 15 minutes. Croissant was over baked, also waited for it quite long. Very loud inside. It takes very long for waiter to notice you. Coffee is good only if you like the fact that it is coffee and do not care about the taste + if you order something to eat they will make sure to bring it only after you finish your coffee, so you will order again. Sausage roll tastes like dirt.

We thought we'd keep it simple. Two coffees and two ham and cheese toasties. After waiting a good half hour and asking several times if they'd forgotten us, we finally got two cold brown toasties with a crumpled slice of ham and what must have been cheese in the distant past. "Sorry, but it's busy," was the joking excuse. After a few bites, we stopped, paid, and left disappointed. Van Maanen's rating: -4

A very warm and lively atmosphere. All the tables were occupied, but a table for six was quickly prepared. The coffee was delicious, and the cakes were very fresh and had a unique flavor. I definitely recommend you try them.

Disgraceful service, I was sent away from the terrace because I wasn't allowed to sit there after ordering a sandwich. The cashier let me sit on the terrace. A little later, a vulgar woman came and sent me away in an unfriendly manner, and didn't even have time to explain the situation. I'll never go there again.

I thought we'd try again. I'm not one for raising my hand and waving at the waitstaff. My wife and I sat there for 10 minutes and watched several waitresses pass by. They don't even look at you, don't say anything, and don't ask anything. They just left. Well, for the last time, I'm never going to try again. What terribly bad service.

We went to the store in Bloemendaal. It had a restaurant attached. Everything looked good. But as in Noordwijkerhout... the quality isn't exceptional. Sometimes it's even disappointing. We'll skip it from now on. We don't eat pastries often, and when we do, it has to be good, not just okay.

Very unfriendly service. They snapped at us that the table was reserved. They asked us to leave... All the tables were reserved, so we left the restaurant. Never coming back there again 😡😡😡😡!!!

Definitely come here for breakfast. There is good food and pleasant dining. Everything is freshly prepared for you. The bakery also has a beautiful, extensive and homemade range of bread, pastries, delicacies... . Highly recommended!

Good bakery / lunchroom. Had lunch last week. My son ordered a hot chicken sandwich. However, when it was served, the chicken turned out to be cold. After complaint this was resolved quickly. I had a ciabatta with filet américaine. For someone with a lot of hunger, a bit on the thin/stripped side in my opinion. Unfortunately, half a baguette was not an option. We had to sit on the terrace because we had a dog with us. Because it was chilly I asked if the heaters could be turned on. Unfortunately these were defective.... Shame.

A lovely bakery combined with a café and a pastry shop. The atmosphere is great, the peace is perfect, finishing in good style the location is perfect so before shopping you can relax, drink coffee, eat a delicious cake and buy bread for home. And of course you can't forget the good quality bio eggs.

Take a break while shopping. Always wonderful in Heemstede. Nice sandwich, cup of coffee. Fristi for the girl and gravy for the boy. Cheese and frikadel sandwich. Fast service and friendly. Always wonderful to spend the summer outside. And now inside. Until next time.

Two stars because the quality of the products is very good. THE SERVICE DESERVES A ZERO Cut back on students who are not interested at all. After finding a place, We cleaned up the table a bit ourselves. Then after 10 minutes someone reports with the wrong order. Then we didn't see anyone again for 25 minutes. Because several newcomers next to us were being helped, I walked to the desk. People would come by. First a few later customers are helped outside. Then we can order. Only one student takes orders and the rest just deliver to the tables. Waited another 15 minutes, but then the drinks arrived. If the food and coffee have not been delivered after 25 minutes, my wife goes to the desk to pay for the drinks. Then suddenly my food is delivered by yet another lady. I still paid this at the desk and paid too much. IT'S NO TIME TO GIVE YOUR STAFF HORECA TRAINING. What chaos!! I've been back recently. It was a bit quieter then. The service was also greatly improved. I can now go to the ministry and giving the atmosphere 4 stars. The coffee and other products are fine. Five stars.

It's not the food, it's the staff! After several bad experiences, we will now come back here more often. Last week, with an order of over €70, there was no room for a second bag and the cake was stuffed into a bag that was too small. After I asked if it could be divided into two bags, I was able to get a second bag, but I had to pay 0.25 cents for it. This morning I wanted to have a coffee. After 10 minutes we asked where our two drinks were. Arrived ASAP. Left after waiting another 5 minutes. In an almost empty shop with 10 employees... We were not even noticed when we left. They were chatting. Sad.

What an incredible disappointment Van Manen has become! The pastries were heavenly, now they are nice but not really special. It is somewhat compensated by other products, such as the delicious juices. But then the service, especially at the tables. He is so unprofessional and downright rude that we have stayed away after the last 3 very bad experiences. After being a customer for so long (we were happy to make a detour for you!), this is a big disappointment.

I think this is a good bakery anyway. This one in Heemstede also offers good seating areas inside and outside. So you can enjoy something to drink and eat in the sun.

I am disabled, I am in a wheelchair and I have an assistance dog. I am extremely shocked at how I was treated in the case on Wednesday August 7, 2024. Because of my assistance dog, I had to sit outside for a while. To which I explained that it was an assistance dog and that I wanted to show Mrs. the government page. Mrs. said, "No, I'm not going to read that, I don't feel like it." It was a lady with blonde hair and black glasses, what an unfriendly thing... there was a younger boy who said that I could stay seated and that he was sorry (dear boy, you absolutely cannot do anything about this and I thank you for your enormous understanding at the end!). Even two customers came to explain to the lady that assistance dogs should have access everywhere, but the lady was very smart. I have been coming to Van Maanen in Heemstede with my assistance dog for 3 years, but I think that unfortunately it will stop for me after this incredibly sad experience... I feel extremely hurt and discriminated against... I will definitely report this to the right college. Because the lady from the bakery said that she was fine with that, and that I was going to lose it anyway because it was “the rules”. I think it's fine 👍🏼

A permanent spot. A permanent place. Delicious coffee cappuccino or lattes. Add a pastry. Friendly staff. Outside terrace with a fireplace. The shop has beautiful home-made bread. Delicious. And try to stay away from the pastries.

Delicious food, the goat cheese is highly recommended. Only to get the attention of the staff you have to wait a long time and make eye contact four times before they come over. A glass of lemonade already lasts 15 minutes....

Wonderful bakery, delicious bread

What a worthless whole there at Bakker van Maanen in Heemstede. If you think you're going to enjoy a nice coffee and a pastry on Saturday, the trouble starts when ordering the cake. “It's gone, sir.” “It's gone too, unfortunately.” “We don't have that anymore either.” Then ordered two cappuccinos. While the place was full of young, inexperienced ladies - I easily counted about six - we had to wait around 15 minutes for just 2 cappuccinos. I politely asked one of the teens if the coffee was almost here yet. With a dreaming introverted look, it was obvious that this young girl had no idea what she was doing. After she replied 'I'm going to look' and walked away, again nothing much happened. After 20 minutes it was really enough for me. I and my group left and indicated that I would get the coffee somewhere else. So no coffee and no pastries at Van Maanen. Huge disappointment.

Nicely presented coffee, but latte was very sweet (strange without having added sugar myself). It is a bakery with seats at the front and back of the shop. Nice terrace. Neat sanitary facilities. Friendly staff. Other than that, nothing really special. Slightly more chic than Bakery Bart. However.... Much, much TOO EXPENSIVE!! These amounts are not even asked at prime locations in the cities or on the beaches of Bloemendaal and Zandvoort. Drank half the sweet Latte and left quickly...

We have been here a couple of times and every time there was something not available. Mostly brownies. Two times what was ordered was not brought. Half an hour for closing time they already isolate tables and start cleaning.

Disappointing! Sandwich. Old. Cheese with old lettuce dry bread no butter Bad!

It takes a while before you can order, receive your order and pay.

What wonderful products they sell here. A cup of coffee on the outdoor terrace with a delicious pastry. The bread 🍞 is delicious and while you are waiting you will always see something tasty in one of the display cases. If you come with your child or grandchild, they will always be spoiled with a small treat by the friendly staff. A top business for the residents of Heemsteden

Service did not run smoothly, coffee was already there and now 3 minutes later I asked where the cakes were? In the end it took another 4 minutes. To think it wasn't busy, so it should have been better 🤪. But cake was tasty.

A lovely place for lunch, a beautiful terrace. The menu offers a decent choice. Recommended.

Had a wonderful lunch with my daughter! Wide range of sandwiches and hot and cold drinks. Various different seats, both high and low. We enjoyed it at Bakker Van Maanen in Heemstede!

Last Saturday we had to wait fifteen minutes for someone to take our order and then another fifteen minutes to bring our two cups of coffee and apple pie! Sorry, forgot whipped cream. The service is chaos. Guests eventually walk off the terrace themselves to place their order inside. An older lady got tired of waiting and walked away.

Door open with frost outside!!! I occasionally go here for coffee, it is tasty and the employees are extremely friendly and capable. Now I was here today with a friend. The coffee has been brought, but she is cold. How did that happen? The door is open. No, it cannot be closed, says an employee. She gives us blankets. What? How? Want to sit inside when it's frosty with a blanket to keep you warm? Who came up with this? With an eye to the environment, van Maanen deserves a bad review here. Hoping they will let the sliding door open AND close when people come in. No one thinks this is crazy or strange. Customers will come anyway. Other entrepreneurs in Heemstede close their doors in the cold and have a sticker with something like this: the door is closed because of the cold, but we are open! And it is clear to everyone that they are open when there are people sitting in front of the window. I won't come here anymore, there are plenty of alternatives in Heemstede. The coffee is fine, but I'm not going to participate in what is clearly an easy-to-resolve attack on our environment.

I ordered a coffee to go but I decided to seat for few minutes outside. A worker came and very rude told me that I must leave the table because I ordered a coffee to go and not to stay otherwise I must paid another price. I could not believe it, I mean all the tables outside were empty. It is a shame that you have this type of people working in your bakery. What a terrible way to treat a client.

Ik weet niet wie er verantwoordelijk was voor mijn broodje Filet Americain. Maar die persoon verdient per direct een opslag. Hoe lekker kan je een “simpele filet” maken? Nou zo lekker dus 🤌🏻👌🏻

Heel lekker, vaak moet er wel lang op de koffie gewacht worden. Haal aub werd zsm een kopje koffie voor tijdens het wachten soms duurt t bijna 20 min om een kopje te krijgen

Al een tijd geen stokbrood gekocht bij van Maanen omdat het gewoon niet lekker is. Toch weer geprobeerd en opnieuw teleurgesteld. Ten eerste worden de stokbroden nog steeds consequent niet compleet afgebakken. De hele lichte kleur en de zachte "korst" deden al het ergst vermoeden. Het deeg zelf bleek nauwelijks luchtig te noemen en had de onmiskenbare smaak van afbakbrood. Als van Maanen zichzelf een ambachtelijke bakker noemt, waarom leveren ze dan opgepiepte diepvries stokbroden die de naam niet eens waar maken? Echt heel slecht!

Slechte bediening!! Vroeger was het personeel prima. Vandaag 21 oktober 2023 was het een ramp. Er was voor ons een plekje aan een tafel bij het raam. We hebben zelf de tafel vrijgemaakt door de vaat van de voorgangers te verplaatsen naar een andere tafel. Daarna kwam iemand met iets wat we niet hadden besteld. Wachten, wachten en nog eens wachten. Mensen die na ons gekomen waren werden allemaal eerder geholpen. Na enige tijd toch maar iemand aangesproken. Tot men kwam werden eerst nog andere mensen geholpen. Koffie met iets erbij besteld. De koffie kwam na een kwartier. Het eten was er na 20 minuten nog niet. We zijn opgestapt en hebben de drankjes betaald. Dan komt ineens het eten. Toch maar opgegeten en afzonderlijk betaald. Overigens door een fout nog te veel betaald ook. JE ZOU JE PERSONEEL OOK KUNNEN OPLEIDEN. DRUKTE IS HIER GEEN EXCUUS. WAT EEN CHAOS!!!!!!

A nice place for morning coffee and light breakfast

Fantastische gebak en andere traktaties en een heerlijk terras.

Vandaag 21 juni 2022 op de fiets van uit Haarlem -Noord richting Binnenweg Heemstede voor een lunch op het terras van Van Maanen. We namen plaats onder de luifels maar daar was het toch wat te fris, dus maar naar binnen. De menu kaart erbij, een pistoletje hete kip met gesmolten kaas €8,00 en een twaalf uurtje, sneetje brood met een plakje ham en kaas, sneetje brood met een kroketje, bolletje salade en een tomaten crème soep, daarbij boter en mostert voor €10,50, daarbij een cappuccino en een cola zero ben je €25,-- verder . De pistolet met kip was goed te doen maar om nou te zeggen een lekkere vuller, nee dan zou er nog een broodje kunnen. Het twaalf uurtje voldeed voor mijn vrouw, zij had er meer dan genoeg aan. Als ik er nog een broodje bij genomen had, was de rekening ruim 30 euro geworden geworden en dat is toch serieus geld aan het worden. De ambiance en bediening is oke, het is een mooie locatie, daar is echt niets mis mee. Had in mijn vorige review 5 sterren gegeven. Maar nu dan 4 sterren en dat heeft toch te maken met het feit dat je voor €8,00 iets meer mag verwachten of iets meer vragen en er dan een echte vuller van maken. Nu zit je van, ja moet ik nog wat nemen. Bakker van Maanen krijgt van ons 5 sterren. 2 koffie, waarvan 1 Cappuccino en 2x een appelpunt met slagroom. Goede koffie en een flinke appel punt, goed van smaak , zelfs een beetje kruidig, kaneel. Geserveerd door 2 vriendelijke dames. Geniet ervan tijdens het serveren en heeft het u gesmaakt bij het afrekenen, met daarbij een vriendelijke lach. Een vriendelijke woord doet altijd goed en dat is zeker het geval bij van Maanen. 5 sterren dus van ons.

Bediening kan wat beter tot 2 keer vragen wat we wilden bestellen terwijl we al een tijd wachten op 2 tostie,s plus de ketchup die er bij kwam mag wel meer op de kaart staat met salade nou 3 blaadjes dat was het en ook vreemd dat er geen zuikervrij gebak word verkocht ivm een zuiker patient

De liefde is op de zaterdag ver te zoeken in de gerechten. Zonde, want het is verder een fijne zaak. Ook hebben ze te weinig personeel op de zaterdag.

Zeer ruime keuze in diverse soorten brood, gebak en taarten. Ook voor een lekkere kop koffie en/of lunch kun je hier goed terecht. Vriendelijke dames in de bediening!

Op zondagmorgen super geholpen in de winkel met het brood. Daarna werd het minder. We wilden nog een kopje koffie op het terras drinken. Bediening loopt ongeïnteresseerd rond, ruimt tafels niet of laat af. We moeten zelf bediening aanschieten, om iets te bestellen. Vijf minuten na onze bestelling opgenomen te hebben, komt hetzelfde meisje langs om te vragen of we iets willen bestellen. Oudere meneer op terras wordt helemaal vergeten. Personeel heeft geen idee wie, wat besteld heeft. Iedere keer lopen ze naar verkeerde tafel met een bestelling. Kortom, we hebben niet het idee dat het personeel betrokken is bij hetgeen ze doen.

Is er altijd gezellig. Saucijzenbroodje is slecht. Geen lekkere vulling en slecht en slap omhulsel.

Le pire service aux pays bas. Les serveuses ni ne nous voyaient ni ne nous regardaient. Heureusement ce n'est pas partout pareil

Gezellig tentje. We zijn er vandaag geweest de bediening is vriendelijk maar onervaren. Met 3/4 tafels waren ze erg traag en maakte ze fouten (met mijn bestelling) de rede dat ik 3 sterren geef is omdat onze lunch en gebakjes lekker waren! Daar is verder ook niks op aan te merken. Maar de bediening helaas niet zo..

Goede bediening, uitstekende cappuccino en heerlijke kaasbroodjes.

Heerlijk brood, vriendelijke mensen

We komen hier regelmatig, maar afgelopen zaterdag was het echt zeer ongastvriendelijk. om 1600uur wilde we met zn 4en waarvan 2 jonge kinderen een kopje koffie en een taartje eten. Geeft de jonge serveerster aan dat de keuken om 1700uur dicht gaat en dat we alleen nog voorin konden zitten. Leuk maar dat zit vol en achterin is er voldoende ruimte plus er zaten nog aardig wat klanten achterin. Toch mochten we niet gaan zitten en zijn we verbijsterd weg gegaan. De klanten die ons gesprek hoorde waren ook zeer verbaasd. Als het aan mij ligt komen we gelijk nooit meer. Ronduit onbeschoft. Lijkt meer op een paar tieners die geen zin hebben om om 1700uur nog te moeten opruimen.

Hebben hier lunch genomen, club sandwich viel echt heel erg tegen, dun plakje kipfilet, 1 plakje bacon, 3 dikke plakken brood en wat sla.. €11,95 verwacht je toch wel wat meer.. vriendelijke bediening, vandaar de 3 sterren, lunch zelf niet meer dan 2… erg jammer

Het gebak is heerlijk! Vooral de cheesecake, echt een aanrader. De broodjes zijn ook lekker. Het is alleen vaak erg druk!

We have previously had breakfast/ coffee here and, though the service was often slow, the food was good. Today, however, we had no opportunity to sample the food, because we could not find someone who would serve us. When we arrived there were two customers outside and two inside who had already been served, and four tables were still littered with old cups etc. We asked twice for someone to take our order, but no one appeared. After ten minutes and still no service four other tables were occupied - and not served. Meanwhile one customer outside who had asked several times for his bill (to no avail) left without paying. We registered our dis-satisfaction to someone who appeared to be in charge, who told us there were problems with their new system, though she and her colleague had been busy with arranging a pretty display and not clearing tables or serving customers. We were at least offered a cup of coffee which we declined. We shall NOT be returning.

Wat een onaangename verrassing! Maar kennelijk niets veranderd bij bakkerij van Maanen in Heemstede. Personeel 7 man in de winkel heeft geen oog voor het terras op een mooie zonnige middag 🥱. Ook ná 1e poging geen reactie, dan maar naar binnen..oh ha we komen. En dan nog weer wachten…voor mij te lang en na opmerkingen mijnerzijds brutale reacties met verontwaardiging!! Hoe is dit mogelijk, kennelijk heeft de Corona-virus hier toegeslagen in de service-gerichtheid van dit bedrijf. Slecht! Van mij mogen ze sluiten, ik mis niks!
