Van Maanen in Katwijk aan Zee

A very loud, large room, as I noticed during my visit. Some of the tables were still greasy, and there was crumbs and pieces of cake underneath them. The coffee was okay, and so was the cake. What shocked me was seeing a female employee, dressed in her own clothes, take a slice of cheese from the refrigerator and eat it, while other employees carried the cake from the refrigerator to my plate. After that, I wouldn't eat there again. The service was generally okay, but unfortunately a bit chaotic and rather slow.

I always go to Mom's for coffee when I'm free and always get a pastry from Van Maanen. This morning was no exception, or so I thought. The door was open, and there were two advertising signs out front. It was 7:50 a.m. I politely asked if I could come in. I got what felt like a very firm but unfriendly answer: no, at 8 a.m. Then I left the door locked! I went to another bakery, which is a shame. I'd been going there for years. That's how you lose customers.

A nice place to sit for a coffee and a sandwich. As for pastries, I was disappointed. The chipolata schnitzel at this bakery used to be quite decent. This time, I had a chipolata pastry that doesn't deserve the name. Instead of fruit, it had fruit jam in it. A shame, but luckily there are better bakeries nearby.

The staff on the patio were unfriendly. The food was just okay. I'll eat somewhere else next time.

I went to Bakker van Maanden today for a sandwich. Because I can't eat gluten, I asked for a gluten-free roll. To my surprise, the saleswoman told me they don't serve gluten-free rolls and that we couldn't eat them, even though they do sell gluten-free bread in the store! This feels completely unfriendly to customers, and it's incomprehensible that they don't bother to make a simple adjustment. Unfortunately, it wasn't a pleasant experience.

We wanted to make a quick stop with our two small children. We ordered four baked goods. And without even asking whether we wanted to eat in or take our snacks with us, everything was put in paper bags. We finally told the employee that we would like to sit down and then went to our table. However, the employees in the café area gave us strange looks and treated us very unpleasantly. Unfortunately, we went there once, but once again, NO THANKS. Of course, on the way out I couldn't resist telling the employee that next time she should ask her customers beforehand whether they want to eat in or have their snacks to go, so that such unpleasant experiences can be avoided.

During our stay in Katwijk we had breakfast in the Van Maanen cafe each morning. We tested different sweet and salty pieces and had coffee and espresso. The service was friendly and quick.

After years of good experiences, this year the service was really bad. After waiting a long time we asked if we had to order at the counter and the staff said that someone would be there in a minute and then we still had to wait almost 10 minutes. Also when paying it didn't go very fast. With such a service I would rather go somewhere else although the food is really tasty. By the way, the prices have gone up considerably.

Incredibly unfriendly service (blonde middle-aged woman). I won't be coming here again. The sandwich was tasty, it won't be the kitchen's fault.

Unfortunately, I don't recommend it. The employee sent us out even though it was still 15 minutes before closing time.

I had a delicious meal there. The chai latte was also excellent. All the baked goods were fresh and tasted delicious. The restaurant is inviting. Friendly service and plenty of space.

Got something to eat several times. Some of the staff are very unwelcoming. Easter Monday, the showcase was still full, but unfortunately the business was closed in front of us. Open or stay closed!

Very nice bakery, there are also tables so you can enjoy something to eat. Very neat free toilet is also nice. Overall good experience.

Beautiful and accessible branch of Bakker van Maanen. It was busy and a spot just became available. 4 coffee with cake and you know that the quality is always okay, partly because we regularly visit Van Maanen's in Haarlem and Heemstede or Beverwijk. Delicious coffee and cake and no nagging from the staff to ensure everything is still to your liking. Final bill €28.90 with tip €30.00.

Bakery with dining area. We sat here for lunch, but it took a very long time before we were helped. This is certainly a point of attention for staff. They were friendly though. We were here at 2.15 pm, but by then it was no longer possible to eat a sandwich. We had a puff pastry snack and it was okay, nothing special. Coffee and smoothie were good. Prices are also excellent and it is nicely decorated.

Great for breakfast! We were there several times. The sandwiches, which are more like sandwiches, are particularly recommended. Very nice service and very centrally located.

We were here on vacation and spontaneously stopped by. We were lucky that there was still a table available...so it seems to be very popular. The tastiest thing I've ever had in a bakery. Variety of offerings, fresh bread, nice service, you can't fault it. We ate there a second time.

A real bakery, with an attractive lunchroom. The coffee and pastries were delicious. The service was also correct. The collage on the wall about the origins of baker Van Maanen's generation is interesting to see and read.

So far we've mainly had rolls (to take away) and two breakfasts in the restaurant. Everything tastes great, even though the rolls cost around €1 each (if taken away). The only thing we're always unlucky about is that the lady who serves us either can't speak German or doesn't want to. But if you can speak English, you don't have to be afraid. Please note that no credit card is accepted.

No dogs are allowed But dirty is not an expression at all! Under the table everything is full of rubbish like sugar packets napkins so nothing from the dog and used dishes are not cleared away even though 2 ladies Deftly look past it with an empty tray. our order comes and the old used stuff is still here. Yes, that was it with a good appetite, it's a shame not recommended!

We wanted to have breakfast today, the menu isn't big, but half of the few things that were on it couldn't be ordered. The table wasn't cleared either. We only ordered coffee ☕ took forever.

Had lunch here. The toasties are highly recommended. The price is not overpriced. The service was very nice, even spoke German. Unfortunately, the bakery was closed all day when we arrived on Sunday.

Leuk terras, vriendelijk personeel. Heerlijk geluncht, brood en beleg heerlijk vers. Komen zeker nog eens terug als we weer in Katwijk komen.

Hygiëne ver te zoeken. Bij het bedienen morste het meisje mijn jus d’ orange. Ik vroeg een servetje zodat ik de onderkant van m’n glas kon drogen. Toen werd er een vies, nat doekje, waar de tafel normaliter mee wordt schoongemaakt, over de onderkant van m’n glas gehaald. De vieze druppels vielen gelukkig net naast m’n kopje koffie. Koud croissant werd ongevraagd en ongewild een warm croissant met kaas en al het eten wordt met de handen bereid. Geen handschoenen, geen tangetjes. Dus eerst met de blote handen aan de kaas, daarna met diezelfde handen aan de ham en daarna in de bak met sla… heel smerig allemaal.

Legendarily delicious cappuccino - the only cake I tried was the apple pie; also fresh and delicious. Prices for the quality are ok!

Good place and focal point for breakfast if you have a guesthouse in Katwijk aan Zee. Highly recommended is the yoghurt with fruit and the homemade granola. This one is outstanding. Very nice operation and service.

Order: ham sandwich, too sad for words 2 sandwiches with 2 slices of ham? I doubt this, burnt edges of the ham and a bit of wilted lettuce. Is not worth the price. Order 2: spicy chicken, 2 sandwiches with more nuts, bacon than chicken, the latter is probably here. flown over. This also does not apply to price-worthiness. When asked whether you liked it, you explain that it is not much for what you paid, and you get the answer that the ham edges were burnt. yeah, there's nothing I can do about that. Too bad, I always had a nice lunch here in the past, but unfortunately the service was always good and it is now hard to find. Ladies pay more attention to each other behind the counter than to the paying guests.

It was good experience and they have very nice different kind of cakes but the one that I bought it was way too much cream on it. I didn’t though it would be that much. The rest was good. 👍

Delicious bread. Friendly staff, but the ladies are more concerned with each other than with the customers. The 6 of us stand behind the counter but always have to wait a long time to buy bread.

Good food and drinks, sometimes it just takes a bit long at busy times. There's not much the servers can do about it, but extra staff on days with a market would be better for customers and staff :)

Draussen 18 Grad, innen 15 Grad!!!! Ganz kurios,lädt nicht wirklich zum Verweilen ein. Nur ein Frühstück zur Auswahl und Kaffee extra bezahlt. Eine Scheibe Brot,eine Scheibe Schinken,ein Ei,ein Joghurt mit Getreide und 3 Beeren,ein Croissant und Honig. Butter Stein hart. Sehr schön angerichtet,aber halt 9.95€ plus Cappuccino 3.75€! Kann man, muß man aber nicht!

Vriendelijke mensen, goede kwaliteit.

Een van de leukere plekken om in Katwijk te lunchen. Goede koffie, leuke kaart. Clubsandwich voor €11,95 die gelukkig ook nog af te happen is, niet te hoog gestapeld en niet te hard brood. Broodje tonijnsalade voor €8,50 welke net teveel mayonaise had maar verder wel ok. Gekoppeld aan vriendelijke bediening maakt het 4 sterren waard.

Normaal ben ik super tevreden, nu bestel ik ham-kaas croissants. Kom ik thuis, krijg ik iets heel anders met ham-kaas, waren zo niet lekker. Zeg dan voortaan dat er geen croissants meer zijn maar wel iets wat er op lijkt, maar doe niet iets anders in het zakje waar ik niet om veaag!!Vind dit slecht!!
