We bought waffles and ate poffertjes here. They were delicious.

It doesn't get any fresher than this! The stroopwafel here are simply heavenly – warm, soft, and with that perfect caramel filling that you just can't help but love. You can smell them from afar and they're hard to resist. A super nice stand, friendly service, and a real highlight in Middelburg. A must-try!

Delicious fresh stroopwafels and poffertjes (mini pancakes), all prepared and baked in-house. The poffertjes are highly recommended—5 starters, if not 6. Good coffee. The service is friendly and professional. I'll definitely come back.

What at first glance seemed like a charming, authentic stroopwafel shop turned out to be a huge disappointment. We came specifically for fresh stroopwafels, but our expectations were completely unfulfilled. We ordered several fresh stroopwafels from the young woman behind the counter, assuming they would be freshly made on the spot—which, for almost €3 each, is to be expected. Instead, stroopwafels were taken from a warming tray. These had clearly been sitting there for a while: they were cold rather than lukewarm, hard in texture, and not at all fresh. Instead of a warm, creamy syrup center, the waffles simply broke off when we bent them, something that's simply unacceptable with a supposedly fresh stroopwafel. It's a real shame, because the shop looks so charming and inviting from the outside. We certainly won't be coming back...

Outside, the delicious aroma of fresh stroopwafels lures you in. I couldn't resist. The mega stroopwafels are freshly baked and served warm. And for a reasonable price in Zeeland—we're frugal, you know. The taste was wonderfully warm and slightly soft. That's how it should be! Highly recommended.

Overall unfortunately disappointing. We have been here twice and unfortunately the first impression was confirmed. The first time we came a good half an hour before closing time there was nothing left to buy apart from a waffle in the display. No coffee, nothing. What's the point of having opening hours if you don't stick to them? We were sent away with little enthusiasm. Two days later we tried again earlier and gave it another chance. This time everything was available, but the waitress seemed almost annoyed by having to serve customers. We were left unfriendly and motivated and in a pretty bad mood overall. Unfortunately the waffle with chocolate was nothing special, it was ready and just warmed up. Disappointing in taste. The Poffertjes were fresh and delicious. The shop looks nice but we won't go there again on our next vacation.

Delicious sweets at a very good price for the high quality. When I first started visiting the town, I ate one of those super waffles, and before leaving, I ate another one, and I regret not having another one. Plus, the place is beautiful and the girls are super nice. If I return to the town, I'll come back here again.

Went here for a portion of poffertjes (20 pieces, €6), which were served with powdered sugar and butter. Delicious! The service could be a little friendlier or more committed, otherwise everything is OK.

During my holiday in Zeeland I came across this cool shop for Van Schaik stroopwafels, I have known these stroopwafels for almost 20 years because they are on the market in my hometown. I thought it was cool to see how the friendly lady behind the counter had all the patience with a child who couldn't decide, but because he walked out of the store with a smile from ear to ear with his super waffle with chocolate on it, I understood. it is…….so you see, buy locally and not online. The lady behind the counter makes the difference!!! Besides of course the quality of the stroopwafel which is FANTASTIC……..

My wife and I recently completed a Netherlands/Belgium river cruise. We tried a daily stroopwafel, and Van Schaik's in Middleburg was the best of the bunch. It's great anytime, but excellent when prepared fresh. We also spoke with the owner and his daughter and learned about the family tradition. Lastly, the store is beautiful, and the owner and daughter are charming.

Very lovingly furnished shop with wonderful souvenir ideas and delicious Dutch specialties at absolutely fair prices, which has unfortunately become very rare these days. The staff was also super friendly and helpful. There is no customer toilet. They seem to be mainly looking for walk-in customers, which is actually a bit of a shame, but seems to be part of the concept.

What a beautiful new business! Really beautiful. The familiar traditional fresh syrup waffles from Van Schaik and you can also have a nice cup of coffee and eat poffertjes😋. They also have beautiful gift packaging for an original gift. Stroopwafels in a delft blue pot or tin, for example.

Always a highlight of our Zeeland holidays. The shop brings back memories of the pastry shops from times past, but is still very modern, clean, structured and comfortably furnished. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I've been to many places, but Both the poffertjes, the stroop waffles and the popcorn are among the best ever. We always stock up here for the coming months. Everything is completely fresh and prepared with a lot of love
