What a great restaurant and what a loss for Doetinchem that it is closing in 2 days.

The cappuccino comes from a machine, well that's where it goes wrong. Also very expensive! Nice ladies in service!

We had another delicious lunch. It's a beautiful place, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

Initial seating was a joke, and I was close to suggesting going to a different place. Making a reservation, at a restaurant, only to be greeted with "the restaurant area is empty, bcuz we R seating ppl in the bar area" is dumb to say the least. Initial seating area was close to the bar, close to the toilet, close to the stairs, on high stools on uneven ground. Nobody wants to sit at a "waiting area" with a high volume of traffic. Nobody that is making reservations to a restaurant expects NOT to be seated in the damn restaurant... Luckily they reseated us, but not until after trying to convince us of taking that "amazing" table. Our server was definitely better, than the person seating us. Food was excellent as well, with the kitchen being very accommodating to any needs we/you might have. On a scale of 10, I'd give it 7/10. Definitely above average, but also with massive room for improvement. Would go again, but only after weighing other offers in the area next time.

A party you will never forget. This review is not about the delicious food at Van Ouds, but about a wonderful service that deserves to be put in the spotlight. Last night we had a wonderful party for my girlfriend's 25th birthday. We were warmly welcomed with a glass of bubbles and were served excellently all evening by the charming gentlemen behind the bar. Everything was perfectly arranged, we had an evening we will never forget. Our appreciation goes out to the entire Van Ouds team. Thank you very much and see you at the next festival!

Wat een sympathieke zaak! We waren op zoek naar een plek om mosselen te eten, na een telefoontje of die er waren werd spontaan aangeboden ze voor ons te maken. Smaakten prima, evenals de frietjes, brood en sausjes. Erg gezellige bediening ook.

Van Ouds radiates beauty in its simplicity and coziness. The friendly staff do their work with passion, and you immediately feel that. A place where you would like to come back for the warm atmosphere and to have a drink with friends in this ambiance!

Ate here on a weekday, which made it a bit quieter. Very friendly and polite staff. A good atmosphere and very tasty food. Personally, we had a 4-course surprise menu.

Nice restaurant and very friendly waitress. It took a while before she came to take our dishes, but she had the idea that she also had to do the part where we were sitting alone. An hour later we received our starter. Delicious food! Tastes that are right, preparation a big 10! Tip of the day 😉: scan the space a little more in between so you can perhaps sell a few more drinks. We would love to come back again!

Van Ouds looks promising. Beautiful terrace, beautiful decor and friendly service. The menu seemed pricey to us. Lettuce (€4.50) and fries (€5.00) are not included in most main courses. A glass of white house wine €6 or more. We opted for stew with fries. A small plate with pulled apart, wet stew meat (defrosted???), fries and mayonnaise. (€ 17,-) We ate some of the fries, leaving the stew after a few bites. We were disappointed that we did not go for other 'bites' or a dessert. Unfortunately not worth repeating for us. We will not recommend Vanouds either. Shame!

The most beautiful tent in Doetinchem, nice and attentive staff, good food and a place for every occasion. Drinks, lunch, dinner, party, meeting and…kids place with babysitter!

Had a 4 course menu, quality was excellent. Wine was delicious and the service was great. The atmosphere was less so, but this is personal. Will definitely come back.

Super cozy, friendly staff and the food was super tasty

Tonight we had dinner with 4 people, à la carte. Beautiful building with a nice interior. Cozy and chic. The service is very friendly. Ordered an espresso martini twice, delicious. As a starter I had the carpaccio. There was a bit of sauce on top which I didn't like. A bit too creamy/oily. But very tender tasty meat and that's the most important thing. As a main course I had the salmon, cooked just right so that the inside was slightly soft. Just a little different, already seasoned as standard. Made with various vegetables including asparagus and artichoke. My partner had the tournedos, wonderfully tender meat and nicely seasoned. There is also the option to order a salad and fries that will be added to the bill. If I may give one point of criticism here, it is that few fries are served for 4 people, which cost €5 per bowl. Anyway, the food was delicious and I thought the rest was sufficient. Then dessert. I had an apple pie with a scoop of ice cream on a beautifully decorated plate. It tasted good and fresh. As far as the service is concerned, it is very good here. I read some reviews that it took a bit too long for the waitress to come, but we found that pleasant. At some restaurants you have the feeling that you have to eat quickly and leave, but not here at all. It just took a while before the 2nd portion of fries arrived. The waitress indicated that a deep fryer was broken and therefore it would have taken longer. We received this nicely as compensation from the house. All in all we had a great evening and I will definitely come back here again!

Have eaten lunch here several times over the weekend. It is usually extremely quiet on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. The food is always very tasty and has comparable prices to other restaurants in town.

I had a special request o I wanted to set the table in a festive manner because my son had returned from abroad and had his birthday. They decorated it beautifully, and were very enthusiastic, a very nice experience, thank you very much to the staff, and the bubbles and food were excellent!!

We had a delicious meal here. We chose the five course menu. And every course was a pleasant surprise. Really delicious combinations of flavors. The matching wine arrangement is also recommended. The staff was well informed about the food and wine they served with it. We enjoyed it and will definitely come back.

We waren we met 9 mensen zondag 4 mei 17.00. De bediening was prima , maar het eten zeer matig en gewoontjes. We hebben 440,- euro betaald en dat is absoluut geen prijs/ waarde verhouding. De zalm werd gedomineerd door een ondefinieerbare saus en mijn kip was smaakloos en koud. We hadden een kind van drie bij ons en een kinder portie was schijnbaar niet mogelijk . Dit restaurant gaat het niet redden als het eten zeer middelmatig is en de prijs zo hoog. Daarbij word er geen kraanwater geschonken , wat natuurlijk zeer belachelijk is. Ik wilde gezien de ambiance van het gezelschap niet gaan klagen . Maar bij deze geen positieve recensie.

We had a delicious meal! We had 4 people. the surprise menu, what a taste experience! The staff told each dish what it was, not limited to 1 person. to stand. Everyone got their food at the same time. Highly recommended!

The food is good! Restaurant is nicely decorated. I was able to make a reservation from half past four because I had a small child. After we were seated at the table, we were not asked if we wanted something to drink, after a while a waitress came to ask if that had already been done. Finally we got the card. But before we had our starter it had been an hour and it wasn't that busy at all. We sat at the table with empty plates for over 20 minutes and the waitress walked past twice and saw that we were ready. Ultimately, when she came to the table, she indicated that I thought it was taking a very long time, especially with the little one, and was offered to have the main course prepared right away, but I thought we had been sitting with empty plates for 20 minutes anyway. When taking the order, we were asked if we wanted fries or salad because you have to pay for that separately. Indicated that he only wanted fries and was given salad with the main course. Ultimately, after the main course, we sat with empty plates for so long that my husband wanted to pay and she arrived with the receipt and charged us for a salad, which we actually didn't even want, but we were so done with it that we left. The food was good, but it was ridiculous that there were only grilled vegetables underneath your meat and that you had to pay so much money for a small bowl of fries and salad. No, not a second time for us.

What a nice and trendy restaurant on the edge of the center. In the evening you can sit outside where the heaters heat the covered terrace. Inside there are several cozy rooms with attractive lighting. It is ideal for groups and couples can sit together comfortably. In the middle room there are nice round tables where you can sit with 4 to 6 people. The service is very friendly and attentive and easy to approach for explanations of the menu. The dishes (real culinary level) are beautifully served and the composition and quantity are excellent. Sometimes it is a bit noisy when many guests are speaking at the same time, but that is not really disturbing. Price/quality ratio: prices are quite high, but so is the level. Highly recommended if you want to end a day of shopping in the center of Doetinchem or before going to the theater. The two of us enjoyed the Vitello Tonnato and Fish trio, the Hamburger Vanouds and the pike-perch fried on the skin (fish of the day) with various vegetables.

We were here on Saturday with a group of friends. A nice restaurant that is quite large, but looks quite intimate due to the layout. Lots of choice of different dishes, wines and beers. A number of us ordered the same meat dish, unfortunately there was a huge difference in the amount of meat. That sometimes easily made a difference of 100 grams. Furthermore, the amount of vegetables is quite limited. Nice atmosphere, the service worked smoothly and was very friendly. We will definitely come back when we are in the area.

What a bliss to stay here. Extremely friendly and correct staff. The menu offers enough choice for everyone. Quality is more than fine. Recommended to eat out here.

Food was salty and tasteless, steak was 3 mini pieces and food tasted like fibre. And lost a fortune. After indicating this, the server suggested during dessert that she wanted to cook an extra piece of steak, of course not. Also no compensation and deafened by the loud music. Never come back here again, weird place.

Top business! There is a nice relaxed atmosphere and the restaurant is well and beautifully laid out. Went for the 5 course dinner to try something different, but absolutely not disappointed. Food was good and all went well together in terms of flavors and quantities. Management and service were good. The waitresses really knew something about the food and were able to answer any questions properly and accurately. To be repeated! See you soon

Had dinner with a large group at Christmas. Everyone had a plate of goodies in front of them at the same time. It was full but not too busy. Nice staff.

Sfeer was goed, prettig restaurant en aardig personeel. Gerechtjes tijdens het kerstdiner waren smakelijk oke, ik miste een beetje de samenhang. Gerechten hadden iets sneller uitgeserveerd mogen worden. Verder een rode wijn besteld en betaald die helaas nooit geserveerd is. Al met al een gezellige avond gehad.

Helaas geen al te beste ervaring tijdens de kerstbrunch! Vanouds onwaardig. Was zeer matig en fantasieloos. Geldt ook voor de vegetarische keuze en warme hapjes. Zeer teleurstellend. Erg jammer. Personeel attent en vriendelijk.

Te duur voor wat we kregen, koffie en thee moesten we nog zelf betalen schande nooit weer, 70.00 euro per persoon. Beter naar mingle restaurant daar is alles inclusief goedkoper en super meer keuze. Stuur geen mail meer we komen nooit meer.

Op eerste kerstdag deel genomen aan kerstdiner. Bediening was onvoldoende voorbereid op hun taken. Ontvangst was zeer koel en zakelijk. Eten was gemiddeld. Geen culinaire hoogstandjes en hoofdgerecht was lauwwarm. Hertenbiefstuk daarentegen voortreffelijk. Ook coquille was een ware streling voor de tong.

Kerstbrunch zeer matig. Koude bouillon,ragout en gehaktballetjes Onze eerste maar tevens laatste bezoek.

Altijd lekker en er is aandacht aan besteed.

Erg leuke plek om te zitten voor een drankje of een hapje aan de bar. (We zijn niet in het restaurant geweest) Erg gezellig en heerlijk gegeten (shared dining) Dus aan te bevelen. Ook lekkere kleinere gerechten aan de tafel.

Dit is zo'n mooi restaurant! Het is een genot om de hele inrichting te bekijken.. We waren er deze keer helaas alleen voor de lunch. Hier werd ook weer zo leuk de heerlijke soep op je bord zelf, over de vulling uitgeschonken.. En het brood.. Zó lekker.. Heel vriendelijke bediening. We komen hier zeker wéér eens terug.

Modern ingericht restaurant met een iets te prijzige kaart.

Wanneer je €32.50 betaalt voor een steak, dan zijn je verwachtingen best hoog. Er werd niet gevraagd hoe we de steak wilden. Vervolgens krijg je twee stukjes vlees met een paar zilveruitjes en paddenstoelen. Bijgerechten moet je extra voor lappen. Bediening is ontzettend vriendelijk, maar als ik eerst een kwartier op mijn drinken moet wachten en het bij de tweede ronde überhaupt niet komt nadat ik het heb besteld raak ik toch behoorlijk gefrustreerd. Al met al wel prima gegeten, maar voor wat je ervoor betaalt is het ronduit lachwekkend.

Wij vonden het super goed en lekker eten.

Dit was mijn tweede keer bij Vanouds en het viel deze keer een beetje tegen. De brownies waren lekker, maar er zat geen slagroom bij, terwijl dat er wel bij geserveerd hoorde te worden, en de appeltaart was waterig. Verder vond ik ook dat de dames in de bediening deze keer wat minder vriendelijk waren.

Sjieke uitstraling maar nog wel te betalen. Rustig en veel ruimte. Zelfs klein plekje voor de kinderen.

Vandaag hun twee jarig bestaan meegevierd met gebakje en 12 uurtje voor een superleuk feestprijsje🎊 Gezellige bediening en fijn eindelijk buiten kunnen zitten.

Zakelijk diner gehad, prima 4 gangen menu met misschien iets te veel pretenties (amuse was blini's met "kaviaar" van zwarte knoflook, tsja) maar toch ook vakmanschap: lekkere kalfsjus bij het hoofdgerecht en het dessert was erg goed. Heel grote zaak waardoor je je op een rustige maandagavond wel eens verloren kunt voelen. Service was uitstekend!

Fijn restaurant, mooi interieur, fijn terras en professionele bediening. Kwaliteit van het eten was prima maar niet bijzonder.

Leuke plek, heel sfeervol ingericht en super om er met iemand bijvoorbeeld een kop koffie te drinken en bij te praten. Gelegen in het centrum van Doetinchem. Gastvrij personeel, je voelt je altijd welkom. Ga zeker even kijken naar de bijzondere wand waar bekende Achterhoekers op staan afgebeeld in Rembrandtstijl. Bij binnenkomst helemaal rechts. We hebben hier 2e kerstdag gegeten. Werden heel hartelijk ontvangen. We kozen voor 5 gangen. Het is echt voor herhaling vatbaar. Wij komen hier zeker terug

Op 15 april 2023 ben ik samen wezen eten bij VanOuds. Buiten heb je een overdekt terras en als je naar binnen toeloopt ziet het er gezellig uit. Door de gang kom je uit in de zaak. Je hebt 2 kanten, aan de linkerzijde heb je de borrel kant en aan de rechterzijde is het restaurant. We hadden van te voren gereserveerd en we werden naar onze tafel geleid. Wij hadden een tafeltje in het midden, dit is niet mijn favoriete keuze van tafeltje. Voordat er enige uitleg was over wat de bedoeling is kregen we brood op tafel met tapenades, persoonlijk zie ik dit liever andersom. Daarna kwamen ze met de kaart aan en kregen we een kleine uitleg. Je kan vanuit de kaart kiezen voor een 3, 4 of 5 gangen verrassingsmenu of gewoon a la carte. Ik heb gekozen voor dat laatste. Als voorgerecht ben ik voor de Vitello Tonnato gegaan, een heerlijk fris koud voorgerecht met een goede smaak. Als hoofdgerecht ben ik voor de hert gegaan. Een mals stukje vlees samen met groenten mooi op het bord geserveerd. Aan tafel werd de jus over het vlees gegoten. De frietjes worden los geserveerd en zitten bij de meeste gerechten erbij. Als toetje ben ik voor een klassieker gegaan, de Dame Blanche. Deze werd geserveerd in een glas. De serveersters van deze avond leken een beetje gehaast in het serveren en de uitleg die ze gaven. Dit komt niet klantvriendelijk over, en dat was wel een minpuntje. De service tijdens het eten was keurig, was je glas leeg kwamen ze vragen of je nog wat wilde drinken, helaas werd dit niet tot het einde doorgetrokken. Het kunnen vragen naar de rekening duurde ontzettend lang helaas. Al met al een leuke gezellige avond gehad en heerlijk gegeten.

De salade burrata was prima ; wel vond ik 7 euro voor een dubbele espresso duur en die ga ik daar niet meer drinken.

Wt een service, geweldig lekkere gerechten. Echt heerlijk genieten, zoals het hoort.

Gewoon lekker gegeten,mooi opgemaakte borden,vriendelijk personeel en ,heel belangrijk, comfortabel zittende stoelen.

Mooie zaak… Prijs aan de hoge kant, lang wachten tussen voor en hoofd gerecht. (Meer dan 60min ) ook geen bijgerechten. Als je dit netjes aangeeft geen excuses maar krijg je te horen dat het erg druk is PUNT.

Ziet er van binnen erg mooi uit maar verder was t een teleurstelling. Na het voorafje hebben we 90 minuten op ons hoofdgerecht moeten wachten. Maar wel om de 5minuten vragen of we nieuw drinken wilden. Vond het ook een beperkte kaart en je kreeg weinig eten voor het geld dat je ervoor moest betalen. Zitten ook helemaal geen bijgerechten bij t eten.

Mooie zaak, maar verder erg teleurstellend. Het eten was goed, maar behoorlijk aan de prijs. Keuze beperkt en van een simpel bijgerecht hebben ze blijkbaar nooit gehoord. Daarnaast lang moeten wachten op het hoofdgerecht, geef je dit vervolgens aan wordt er gezegd dat het druk is en dat het lange wachten best wel meevalt. Jammer.

Sfeervol, gezellig. Lekker gelunched zoals vanouds😉. Aanrader👍
