What a filthy place! I should have turned around the moment I walked in. The kitchen is messy and filthy, and after ordering, we had to wait at a table (so you can't see anything). The floor is greasy and slippery. It was otherwise quiet; a kitchen assistant walked by with clean plates and thought he'd shake his hair out. The cutlery on the table looked dirty too. The employees' clothes were incredibly dirty; it could have been busy, but still. The best part is, after waiting fifteen minutes, the employee tells me they're out of mayonnaise. 😂 A cafeteria without mayonnaise 😂😂😂 I ended up getting my own at the local Albert Heijn later. No compensation or anything. (Already paid for it.) Food: Ordered large fries, got a small container. The snacks were good. Loaded fries, not really; they were a bit undercooked with beef stew and lacked much flavor. That was the last time; I wouldn't recommend it.

Staff flying around, busy being busy... Had to wait over 50 minutes for food even though it really wasn't that busy. Poorly organized...

We ate here during Zeelicht. We had to wait an hour for a simple burger and salad. The food wasn't good, and the chicken in the salad was rock hard. Our drink orders came in stages, and we had to ask for them three times. The toilet was filthy and hadn't been cleaned in a while. All in all, a disappointing experience and one I won't be repeating.

Waited an hour and a half for two fries and some snacks. Half the order was missing! And what was included was ice cold. Called twelve times but no one answered. I'll never order again. So bad!

Very tasty food, when it was busy I got a cold frikandel speciaal and then had to pick up a new hot one myself, but yes, busy busy, I would like a little more attention for something like that, a minus point so otherwise a ten/5 stars, top business

It's a shame I can't give the service 10 stars. The people working here are so enthusiastic, especially Arthur, who goes the extra mile when you need service. A lot of people could learn from that.

The service was very poor; they missed several times and forgot a drink. When we got the bill, they charged the wrong bill. The late drinks were average, nothing special.

We ordered food online at 6:06 PM and received a confirmation. At 6:45 PM, there was still no tracker available, so we called to ask how long they thought it would take. We were told it would take another 15 minutes. According to the lady, it would be ready at 7:00 PM. By then, 20 minutes had passed and it was 7:05 PM, so we called again because our eldest, a four-year-old, was getting hungry and wanted to wait for his fries (he'd been really looking forward to them). The lady said they were ready and would be delivered any minute. She apologized and asked if we wanted a milkshake as compensation. We declined, as we just wanted our food and nothing else. Finally, after 15 minutes, we called again angrily, saying we thought it was taking so long, and our son started complaining about how hungry his tummy was. The delivery driver didn't arrive until 7:30 PM, almost an hour and a half after we ordered. Unfortunately, the fries were also cold (luckily for the oldest, he didn't have to blow anymore). We'll never go back to Verhage.

It took ages for the order to be taken. Then came the burger, which I was really looking forward to, but unfortunately, it was only half-filled. Not with tomato, cucumber, and fried onions as you'd expect, but just a dry burger slapped on a bun with a huge dollop of sauce and some wilted lettuce leaves. If you complain about this, it's not resolved; you're looked at as if you're committing a mortal sin for daring to say anything. You won't see us again, and if I may offer a tip, go next door and give this place a wide berth.

TERRIBLE FOOD Frozen food at expensive prices and gristle in the burger meat!

Absolutely horrible. We had to wait forever to oder and it wasnt even busy. The waiter was not welcoming or friendly in any way. Waited forever for our oder. The oder was screwed up and looked very different from what we expected. I would honestly not recommend it. We felt like we werent supposed to be there

We've been to many Verhages restaurants. Absolutely the worst... Waited a very long time for a completely ordinary menu. Paid a premium, and the food was very meager and inedible. People should go to Marktzicht or another place, but skip this one. Lured in by the low prices, but everything is charged separately. Bad atmosphere and terrible service. Food was delivered after waiting over 45 minutes. Not even appetizing. Never again

The food was good. The staff either spoke English or nothing. The atmosphere was lacking.

Delivery took over an hour for two fries and a few snacks. It was cold upon delivery. The satay sauce was also missing from the order. After calling to ask if we could deliver later... well, then it's already gone. All in all, I won't do it again... lots of room for improvement! Bottom line: stop delivering, it's terrible. Not worth the money!

After we paid, it turned out the bill wasn't correct! We overpaid by €3, so we reported it to the person. He said, "extra cheese and ketchup." But the ketchup was on the menu, and it said it was included. He voluntarily added cheese, so we had to pay for it without even asking! Oh my goodness...they just do it, and if you don't check the receipt and think it's all right...you're screwed!!!! We didn't get our money back and will NEVER come back here again!!!!

Toilets are very dirty; everything is sticky. If you don't have tea, you have to find your own tea bag. Nothing personal about it.

We placed a home delivery order for a milkshake and a Twister. We didn't have to wait long. I opened the bag containing my Twister, and it was already covered in Nutella. Absolutely ridiculous. They didn't even bother adding it to the tiny amount of soft serve, but smeared it all over the carton. There was barely any ice cream in it. I highly doubt this was accidental, because anyone can see it's ridiculous. Of course, I called and explained that I found this unacceptable. They laughed it off a bit. I told them I'd just have another soft serve and nothing else. They agreed, but I wasn't satisfied.

We didn't come here for dinner, so we had to call the waiter to order. Service was awful. All the drinks were empty, and there wasn't even a hint of customer service. €3.20 for a 0.2 Coke was way too expensive.

Delicious burgers. Unfortunately, not quite as fast as I expected.

First time here today. First and last time. We weren't served for 20 minutes, even though it wasn't busy. The young man with the curly hair came when I waved. We ordered two medium ice creams with chocolate sauce and a large beer. Two iced coffees arrived at least another 20 minutes later. We immediately said it was wrong. My daughter doesn't drink coffee either. We hadn't ordered it either. The next table was served an ice cream sundae, and I pointed at it. He claimed it was a chocolate ice cream sundae. Strange, no chocolate sauce and a straw. His colleague confirmed afterward that it was two iced coffees. Nevertheless, the young man continued to argue, even in front of other guests. In the end, I said I wouldn't pay for it, and only then was the order canceled. NEVER AGAIN!

We had to wait a long time before we could order. Food for 4p arrived in three batches. Not tasty. And too expensive.

We had a wonderful time on the terrace here last week; it's really spacious! They have a nice menu, and both dishes we had were delicious (chicken club sandwich and loaded fries), although the loaded fries were a bit small compared to the club sandwich. But what was really disappointing were the absolutely disgusting restrooms. I'm glad I went to the bathroom after dinner, otherwise I honestly wouldn't have eaten my meal. I really don't consider that good service, unfortunately...

We waited half an hour for our drinks. We repeatedly asked the staff if they were on their way. After another half hour, they arrived. No apology for the delay. They didn't even offer a word. When we asked for the bill, the staff simply walked past us without a word.

Wij hadden via thuisbezorgd besteld en zou tussen de 15-40 minuten bezorgd worden. Ruime marge om te bezorgen. Maar helaas na 75 minuten nog niks bezorgd en uiteraard telefonisch niet te bereiken. Wat een klant onvriendelijke zaak! Voor ons nooit meer!

The food is tasty but the staff always gives you a dirty look and then you don't want to eat with them or something and this has happened a few times already.

We were warmly greeted and directed to the lovely outdoor seating area with umbrellas for shade. The service and food was great. We had 2 questions about our bill which were both explained. One was a mistake by them and we had cash refunded to us. The other was that frites sauce cost extra and was not included in menu price. We found that a little disappointing but was told it was 'normal'. Requests for a sauce option that was not on the menu was granted. Ice cream was average - probably wouldn't bother with that next time. Thank you!

2 positive points about this place. The location and the music played by the neighbors. The rest is below average. We could not spend a euro there after more than 20 minutes still could not buy a drink.

Menu meatball ordered, and the meatball was dry in the pan and much too hard. I am used to Verhage having gravy in the pan. My wife also ordered a hogweed menu, and the hogweed was also baked much too hard. Reported when paying and only a meager apology from the cashier. We also had to wait much too long for the food. So I do not recommend Verhage Zierikzee to go to.

Wir haben sehr leckeres Essen genossen. Die Bedienungen waren alle sehr nett und freundlich. Es ist wirklich sehr schön hier. Die Loaded Fries sind ein Geheimtipp. Das Lokal hat natürlich auch eine saubere Toilette.

We wanted to eat here again four weeks ago. It was completely packed. Okay, if it takes a little longer. But the waiters didn't even manage to clear the table of previous guests. We sat there for 20 minutes without being served. Then we left. It can get busy at times, but you should still serve people in the order they arrive.

It's a bit like a snack bar that wants to be a restaurant. Don't expect much, and it's more of a snack than a fancy dining option. You can also eat outside. There are also vegetarian options.

Too STUPID to write anything down

Another order not delivered, after a phone call about it they were with us within 20 minutes with the order... fries were ok, bami slices soggy and almost burnt. Last time I got the wrong order when picking it up, after calling I was asked to come and get the correct order...🤔🤔. For the prices they charge I expect a bit more service..

Not so long ago you could eat well here, but this was really the last time for me.. Once again the order was wrong, with completely different dishes. Tasteless fries with raw chicken satay last time and now again meatballs with a maximum of 10 seconds of baking time.. Good staff is also scarce these days, but these (in my opinion) Ukrainians just don't understand you, are uninterested and incompetent. Too bad, but quality has gone downhill here.

Actually had a great lunch here, quite low prices but price quality was more than fine. Service was a bit inexperienced but, you have to learn somewhere!

I think this is my first 1-star review ever, but I couldn't resist. We've had good experiences at other Verhage locations, but this was really below par. We came to order and pick up two burgers and a Twister Fries. Inside we found a chaotic atmosphere: staff were shouting at each other and outside a staff member was smoking under the parasol on the terrace — while guests were quietly eating on that same terrace. The fact that a cold loaded fries was brought back while we waited, was perhaps a sign of things to come. In the meantime, the scooter delivery people were amusing themselves by kicking each other in boredom. After half an hour we finally got our order. Once home (15 minutes later) it turned out that we hadn't received a veggie burger and a fish burger, but two double cheeseburgers with bacon. Not really what we had ordered. After a phone call we were allowed to pick up the right burgers. They did say "sorry for the inconvenience" and the right burgers were prepared for us, but that was it. Anyway, we finally got our food. The Twister Fries were just delicious. That's true ;)

Actually a beautiful place, cozy, sunny, food okay...but unfortunately a mini glass of white wine and a beer in 2 hours. The parasols remained closed even in the blazing sun, and on top of that, he was thirsty. Even after repeated requests and then speaking to them, nothing happened. He had to make a phone call, after all. All the guests outside felt the same...and it was really warm. We would have liked to have eaten more...but there was no waiter to be seen for over half an hour. They were only talking on the phone and only serving two tables at the front. Perhaps the management should hire an adult employee or have one on site. Sorry...but this is simply not acceptable.

We bought ice cream on the fly, and it wasn't a very good choice. There are a few flavors and they're nothing out of the ordinary. Up to that point, it could be normal, but it's quite expensive, and the size of the scoops they serve is the smallest I've ever seen—about the size of a walnut, for example. And the worst part is that they don't clean the scoop between flavors, so you end up with a little of each flavor chosen by the last ten or fifteen customers. Maybe I should have mentioned this at the time, but some customers before us took it as normal, so I guess that's how things are there.

Be careful before you eat here. First of all, the service is very slow, so you should not be in a hurry. Secondly, the receipt was wrong, they "accidentally" hit "large" instead of "medium", and 9 instead of 6 bitterballen. Some of those bitterballen were also still cold, and one bitterbal had a hard piece of bone in it. That is why I strongly advise against eating here! They do everything they can to make you a few euros lighter.

Super slechte ervaring gehad en personeel zeer onfatsoenlijk. De baguette American filet die ik had besteld had geen ei en ui. Toen ik daarom vroeg, kreeg ik een snauw en werd het broodje van me weggegritst en een paar minuten later weer voor me neer gepleurd. Zonder een woord te zeggen. En toen ik bij het afrekenen om een bonnetje vroeg, werd me verteld dat dat niet mogelijk is. Hier kom ik dus nooit meer terug!

Had a super bad experience and staff very rude. The baguette American filet that I ordered had no egg and onion. When I asked for it, I got a growl and the sandwich was snatched away from me and a few minutes later it was put back in front of me. Without saying a word. And when I asked for a receipt at the checkout, I was told that this is not possible. So I will never come back here!

Small “snack restaurant” with a large winter garden on the market square. Interesting menu with many bread and sandwich variations. All in all very solid and ideal for a snack break. Entertainment from local ravens in the winter garden included.

It's in a nice spot in the city center and the dishes are very tasty.

Verhage Zierikzee: where time stands still and service is hard to find Last weekend we decided to treat ourselves to some delicious fries at Verhage in Zierikzee. Well, treat might not be quite the right word — it felt more like a punishing expedition in slow motion. After about 45 to 60 minutes of waiting (we were already starting to have visions of potatoes yet to be harvested), our food finally arrived… or so we thought. The waiter walked right past us and served our order to another table. The people there must have thought they had won the lottery, because they immediately started eating happily. Meanwhile, we sat there like extras in our own tragedy. We had said several times that the food was ours, but that didn't really seem to land. Maybe we spoke a different language? Or maybe we were just invisible today? When we finally said we wanted to leave (because: long waiting time, zero excuses, and a "figure it out" vibe), the staff wanted to take our food from the other table — which had already been eaten. Nice fresh idea. When we refused to consume other people's leftovers, we were suddenly unreasonable. The staff then decided to switch to a “sniff and sigh” mode, because customer friendliness was apparently also at an end. We then went to the snack bar around the corner. Within 6 minutes we had fresh fries and a smile from the staff. Look, that's how it can be done. In short: if you like waiting, confusion and fries that arrive at the table via a detour (or not), then Verhage Zierikzee is the place for you. If not? Then I would say: take a walk around the block — literally. There are better fries, better people, and a lot faster!

After months we had lunch there again, 2 bouncers on a small breakfast plate each, and two coffees. There were two of us, 27 euros! Much more expensive and also a shrink-flation egg. Used to be very affordable, 6 euros for a salad, now 10 euros. Newly hired waiter, about 20 years old, wearing a tight T-shirt and still being smart. Never here again!!

Wij hebben het eten laten bezorgen maar het eten is veel te prijzig voor wat je krijgt! Een bakje friet met bijna geen friet, het bakje was minder dan de helft gevuld.. en ook nog koud! Ook de hamburger was koud! Kroket lag helemaal kapot in stukken in de doos? Het was een zielige bestelling voor wat ik heb betaald…

Absolute disaster! I hate to give only 1 star, but I can't help it here. The food wasn't good at all, some of it was cold, the taste was okay. The chicken wings were old and dry. My wife still had to go to the toilet. She had to get past the kitchen. Everything was dirty, some food was on the floor - just pure chaos. I can't recommend eating there!!

The wait for the meal of over 50 minutes, for two portions of fries and two small burgers, is unreasonable. In addition, the fries tasted soggy and were lukewarm. The staff was friendly, the kitchen was completely overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio doesn't fit.

Very bad service, we had to wait 70 minutes for our food. Then one order was forgotten, which made it take another 10 minutes longer for that person. We were not the only ones who had to wait so long, because we also heard a lot of grumbling around us. I'd say go somewhere else.

Vandaag aten we bij Verhage in Zierikzee na ons bezoek aan het Zeelicht. We wilden snel een frietje eten, maar zaten uiteindelijk een uur te wachten met vier personen. Het jonge personeel leek de chaos nauwelijks aan te kunnen, en afhalers kregen opvallend genoeg voorrang. Helaas een teleurstellende ervaring, en zeker geen tweede bezoek waard.

Deze plek is verre van geweldig, wat een aanfluiting is dit zeg... Wat een verschrikkelijk slechte zaak met nog slechter personeel. De ronde met drinken daar werd een gemberthee aangezien voor een cappuccino, maar goed he dat lijkt op elkaar... Vervolgens bestellen we eten en zien we tot onze verbazing al drie tafels, welke na ons besteld hadden, hun eten krijgen. Uiteraard bij tafel nummer 4 vragen we wanneer we onze bestelling kunnen verwachten aangezien we ook al drie kwartier aan het wachten zijn. Het was erg druk, maar hij ging het navragen. Bij terugkomst zou het nog een kwartier duren, dus met andere woorden vergeten we gaan er nu mee aan de slag... Gevraagd hoe dit kan dat al 4 tafels ons voorgegaan zijn waarop het ultieme antwoord kwam... Ja de keuken maakt onderscheidt tussen warm en koud (terwijl iedereen aan de friet en snacks zit), maar een half uur later toen eindelijk ons eten kwam begreep ik wat ze hiermee bedoelden...koude friet en ook nog eens de helft van wat we bestelden ontbrak, maar na zeer vriendelijk onee wacht met een mega chagrijnig hoofd en zonder wat te zeggen onze friet mee terug genomen en vol spanning wederom een half uur gewacht...maar geen friet en geen personeel meer te zien. En het is ook zoeken naar je friet in je bakje, want de porties zijn echt heel erg klein, schandalig gewoon wat je krijgt en wat je ervoor betaald. Uiteindelijk maar weer richting de kassa gelopen en daar mijn beklag gedaan waar onze friet bleef. Personeel gaf aan dat het zo ontzettend druk was en ze echt hun best deden. Waarom waren de frietmandjes dan leeg??? En uit service kon onze friet niet even gebakken worden??? Alle begrip, echt, als het echt druk is kan het wel eens even duren, maar 1 dit was niet het geval en 2 zeg dit dan we zaten daar ook nog eens met kleine kinderen en dan bijna 2 uur in een zaak zitten voor wat friet en snacks? Daarbij doe eens wat aan de service en probeer op zijn minst nog vriendelijk te zijn. Wat een aanfluiting was dit zeg en niet te eten ook nog eens, bahbah, niet aan te raden!

Toen we binnenkwam stond er 1 vrouw voor ons. De dame achter de balie stond alleen met een stuk of 12 bonnetjes voor haar neus. Die ging ze 1 voor 1 afwerken zonder ook maar te kijken naar de klanten in de winkel. Ze stond er ook totaal ongeïnteresseerd bij... Na een minuut of 8 vond ik het mooi geweest aangezien de enige klant voor ons nog niet eens besteld had, en ben ik maar weggegaan.

Na 1 uur wachten gevraagd waar het eten bleef. Zou nog 15 minuten duren. Tafels die na ons kwamen hadden al eten. Toen het eten kwam klopte er niets van. 6 personen mayonaise besteld maar 2 kregen het. 1 persoon had kroket besteld maar kreeg frikandel. Friet was koud en erg weinig. Friet teruggegeven maar na half uur nog geen nieuwe friet. Zijn er wat van gaan zeggen en vragen waar de friet bleef maar kregen totaal geen reactie. Eigenaar er op aangesproken maar die had geen tijd en liep gewoon weg. Wat een waardeloze zaak. Ik ben 66 jaar en wij gaan regelmatig uit eten Maar nog nooit zo slecht mee gemaakt.

Then we order food and to our surprise we see three tables, which had ordered after us, receiving their food. When we returned it would take another fifteen minutes, so in other words we forgot, we are now going to get to work on it... I asked how this is possible, that 4 tables had already preceded us, to which the ultimate answer came... Yes, the kitchen makes a distinction between hot and cold (while everyone is eating fries and snacks), but half an hour later when our food finally arrived I understood what they meant by this... cold fries and half of what we ordered was missing, but after very kindly onee waits with a mega grumpy and without saying anything we took our fries back and waited anxiously for another half hour... but no fries and no more staff to be seen. And you also have to look for your fries in your bowl, because the portions are really very small, just scandalous for what you get and what you pay for it. Finally I walked back to the cash register and complained about where our fries were. The staff indicated that it was very busy and that they were really doing their best. Why were the fries baskets empty??? And out of service our fries could not be fried??? All understanding, really, when it is really busy it can take a while, but 1, this was not the case and 2, let me tell you, we were also there with small children and then sat in a shop for almost 2 hours for some fries. and snacks? Please do something about the service and at least try to be friendly. What a mockery this was and not to eat, bahbah, not recommended!

It's been a really long time since we ate so badly. The door at the front and back of the building is also ideal! Your food rushes off your plate. Even the cheese soufflé was not warm. Then you order one after the other and for 4 people while there are 6 of you and after fifteen minutes the rest will arrive. No chance. Never come here again!!!!!

What a terrible snack bar. Heater at our table was off (4 degrees outside) salt on the table was empty, also on other tables, fries that were brought were cold, when this was pointed out they went to solve it, 1 minute later they came back with very dirty, greasy fries, employee indicated that they had new fat so it was probably not hot enough?! After the new delivery was delivered and we wanted to eat, we saw that the satay sauce was cold and chunky. This was indicated, the employee reacted agitated. Toilet was very dirty and no toilet paper! All in all, we won't be coming back here again.

- Waiting time 50 minutes - Food was lukewarm - Dirty dishes - Toilet dirty - Price-performance: catastrophe!!!

I generally don't like writing bad reviews, but this restaurant deserves it. We decided to have coffee at Verhage. When we came in, all the tables were dirty and some hadn't been cleared at all, even though the staff had very little to do. We ordered two teas and a cappuccino. We actually wanted to eat cake. Unfortunately it was empty (it was better that way). Meanwhile I went to the toilet and watched the open kitchen. The sight just made me sick. Everything was very dirty there and the toilets were also dirty. Our order came and well we got half full tea and dirty dishes. Hygiene is probably less of a priority there. We paid later and were happy to leave. Never again will I just say!!!!

Very arrogant staff and chocolate milk is cold, even after asking to warm it up. Not recommended!

Waitresses and waiters were very unmotivated and unfriendly. There were only four tables occupied and there were four waiters at times, but our order was only taken after more than 20 minutes of asking. The food is okay but nothing special.

Delivery very poor. Ordered at 3:50 PM for delivery between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM. It wasn't until 5:45 PM that someone arrived. Then the delivery person was looking at a phone and did not come to the door with the food. I asked myself if I could get my food. Fries and snacks were not warm. In my opinion, medium fries are small fries compared to other snack bars in the area.

Delivery is terrible, you have to wait at least an hour for your order!

Isn't what it once was... Staff are more concerned with themselves than with the customer...

I have chicken patattjatzuki, it costs 8 euros, I don't know where the chicken was, but it was 4 pieces of one centimeter, it was rock hard and the fries were also winey. I go there a lot, but now I really don't anymore, I can get a whole chicken for those 8 euros. There is only one way to make it known and that is what I will do

Fast food restaurant on the market square in Zierikzee, you can sit outside or on the upper floor in a cozy living room atmosphere. I'm deducting points here because we could only order in English, apparently no one here spoke Dutch.

Als je het gevoel wil krijgen van onbelangrijk te zijn en dat ze jou eigenlijk liever niet op hun terras willen hebben dan ga je daarheen. Wat een zure gezichten. Helemaal ook niet netjes, tafel werd schoongemaakt met een vuile doek. Bordjes waren vies. Ik werd afgesnauwd toen ik de rekening vroeg. Daar ga ik nooooooit meer heen. Verschrikkelijke plek.

Unfortunately totally disappointing. After we waited over an hour for the food and wanted to cancel, we were told that was no longer possible because the food was being prepared. Half an hour later the unfortunately not tasty and carelessly prepared food arrived. (That was the plate as the food was brought to me. Of course my drink was long empty after the waiting time..)

No recommendation. Service underground and unmotivated. Long waiting time for food and drinks, and then the order was delivered incorrectly (1 frikandel instead of 2, steakhouse burger instead of chicken burger). Cutlery was only available upon request. Dishes were carelessly prepared and didn't look very appetizing. Apparently everything comes from the deep fryer. You sit quite well, but that's about it. Never again!

We were there in the late afternoon and it wasn't very busy. The service was okay (we had to let them know that we wanted something to eat, but it was late in the afternoon) and the ambience was also good. We ordered Kipsate with fries, Loaded Fries Stoof and Loaded Fries Truffle and were overall quite happy with the food. Only the sauces for the Kipsate and the Loaded Fries Stoof were a bit too sweet. The price was relatively cheap for the region.

Very bad-tempered staff!!! After 30 minutes, not even an order was taken!!! Went there a year ago and had to wait forever because the food was a disaster! Never again
