The tough lady creates a tough environment. The bread is delicious.

The cinnamon bun was stale (probably baked 2 days before) and the capuccino was mostly milk with a hint of coffee. Such a disappointment. The lady was extremely rude when i complained about the cinnamon bun.

We had a good breakfast. But the music was quite loud, and over it, the two employees were constantly talking loudly to each other, so loudly that we could literally hear them in the back (personally related content). And then there was the rough handling of dishes, which just kept clattered. Not pleasant, to say the least.

We visited this branch because we had been to another location of this chain the day before and were very pleased with it. Unfortunately, this branch did not meet our expectations at all. The sandwich we originally wanted to order was unavailable because the “avocado wasn’t ripe” – excuse or not? – and overall there were fewer options available, with a smaller menu than the branch we had visited the previous day. On top of that, the staff seemed rather uninterested and preoccupied with personal matters. One of the servers appeared to have a private guest in the café who occupied most of her time and attention. She even left her colleague alone for quite a while and went out with her visitor – which I actually felt sorry about, as it left the other server to run the place single-handedly. Overall, Vlaamsch Broodhuys is worth recommending, but definitely not this particular branch!

In a city famous for grumpy service there must be a champion of gruff & unfriendly staff and this is it. We’ve been a couple of times (the food and coffee are decent and it’s convenient). We now actually look forward to how grumpy the staff seem to be at serving customers. If you want nice coffee, expensive pasty with dismissive staff who view you as a hassle then this is it!

I bought bread and jam and apparently, it's a rule that I'm not allowed to eat it inside. Even though there are seats available.

We came in 40min before closing, but the woman didn't allow us to sit down, she said only takeaway because she had to clean the floor... We had a baby we needed to feed. Incredible!

The setup was confusing—there was a limited menu at the entrance, but once seated in the back, we realized there was a much better full menu we weren’t shown. The sandwich I ordered was supposed to be warm with cheese, but what I got was a slice of bread cut into four pieces with a single slice of ham. When I politely asked about it, the staff member who made it was surprisingly rude. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place—great concept, poor execution and service.

Very nice breads . Egg is only boiled

Cute cafe, nice selection of patisserie. But the pear-almond tart was just okay, not a lot of flavour and a tough crust. Good cappuccino though.

Nice ambience with great tasting sandwiches

I ordered a warm sandwich for around €13 and it was really mediocre. It's basically just a bad sandwich for €13, which makes no sense. Furthermore, the people who worked there were nice. Have lunch somewhere else next time.

Better than your typical corporate coffee place - overpriced everything but the quality here is good. Had a cappuccino and pastry that set me back nearly €10 - at least it was yummy!

Unbelievable and unfortunate how bad the service is from some of the girls. Used to be a real nice place with happy, great staff, but last half year +, it’s often just a moody girl or two busy with their own stuff, who shuts down servings around 15-15:30, and barely notice you enter, and sit down. Serving is not existing, and often half of stuff is missing on what used to be amazing sandwich’s, -when u finally get it. Your people, bread and food was always amazing in past! But, really, …- kick out some of the girls, get new people,- or manage them better!

Very nice food and very nice local the service can improve a little

Espresso macchiato not to drink Looked like a cup of milk with a drop of coffee and it should be the other way around! And that for € 3.75 Disinterested staff 3/4 girls were continuously discussing loudly behind the counter I couldn't even hear my daughter Not recommended! Shame!

The staaf that work in that place is really unkimd. The servise they give is poor. They are rude with the clientes and i'm not talking about myself . I go there every week because in the office I work we order the bread there what is good and the womans that work there Talk not nice with any client. If you así the people around they will say that thebread and good is good but the servise terrible.

Your Too Good To Go packages are very poor and misleading. There should be €15 worth of value in a package, but when you get home it contains 5 small sandwiches. Even for the amount paid of €7.49 this is a rip off.

Pretty unfriendly staff and very bad croissants. Such a shame!

We had sandwiches which were pretty good but quite expensive. 9.95 for the sandwich shown in my photo. The atmosphere inside is warm and the service was very good.

Tip for the waitress: never argue with your guests/customers. Even if you think they didn't order a large coffee when they did, it's better to just remain silent and apologize. This way you keep the honor to yourself. Merry Christmas to you too.

The food and service were really crappy

Quick and disappointing breakfast with cappuccino & croissant, average quality with “average” price in Amsterdam €7.74. The disappointment comes from the charge applied for consumption on spot. It has been not notified while placing the order and not specified on the menu. While I asked for explanation, the answer was “it is normal! It is was it is, do you still want it?” Of course I already paid, a lot! It is ok, if I could have known it and chose it and getting an explanation in a customer oriented caring way. Not a big deal for you probably but I will not come back.

I ordered high tea to go a month in advance, I come to the store to pick it up and then they say that they haven't received anything because the manager is not present TODAY. Walked there completely for nothing.

Rude and terrible attitude! I went in to buy focaccia as it looked good from the window. The young lady beside the counter was sipping her own coffee and talking to a customer who already sat on a table. She looked at me a few times and continued her conversation, I thought she would attend to me. Finally I asked her if I could order something to get her attention. She said without even greeting, what do you want, like she wanted to finish her coffee first before attending to clients. While packing the focaccia she was even smirking with an annoyed grim. Got my focaccia and she rudely placed the bread on the side counter. No thank you no nothing. Focaccia was stale and hard. Not recommened. Perhaps other bread would be good, but the attitude of lady would definitely put you off as a paying customer. Would not come back here anymore.

Terrible service. If you will take a food for to go. Keep in mind that they kicked off from cafe if you will take a seat when you waiting for a coffee. The croissant is a more less. Coffee awful. So hot. Beat is overdeveloped. Not recommended.

Beautiful location. The apple roll is delicious. I think the latte tastes a bit less. It has an aftertaste. I don't know what kind of beans were used. Milk not properly frothed and glass not completely poured. Bread is great and I bought one. Friendly staff

Unfortunately I don't have much positive to say. When my friend and I were in Amsterdam last weekend, we paid a visit to the store. We were in a good mood when we came in. But we had a very unpleasant encounter there. The girl who served us was very unfriendly and passive aggressive towards us. We couldn't eat on site, which is something I've never experienced before. Apparently it was because she was alone, but they really couldn't explain it to us. What I noticed is that she was much more friendly towards locals. Not recommended, especially for tourists, but the food itself tasted okay.

I encountered a very unpleasant situation. I bought 4 sweet rolls and wanted to eat them on the spot. The cashier was very nice and didn't cause any problems, but another service lady who was sitting at the table and working on a laptop turned to me and told me to leave. I was surprised because I was polite from the beginning and bowed from the entrance, and yet I was treated rudely. I ate these rolls quickly and left, promising myself that I would never go back there again. I'm not surprised there are no customers there 🤷. One extra star for the nice cashier, but it's not enough

Very nice place! Amazing offering of sandwiches (recommend taking chef’s special tasting option), very friendly service, great choice of pastries and desserts (great walnut tarte).

We love this place and the bread is really good! but the bread slicer doesn't work very well as we were told. But soo many times the slices come out like this...and still haven't repared or replaced it the breadslicer till this day. It's not the bread that comes soft out of the oven we had it with multiple types of breads and it's a shame, it's really a nice place and all bread types are Delicious and worth trying. Though they are low on the "sauzijs-broodjes" Unfortunately - never in stock those are the best product! and the most tasty in the erea..

I was here on Saturday with my mother for a sandwich and it was delicious! Staff was sweet and the sandwiches were very tasty. Highly recommended to go.

The prices are extremely high for what you get. The iced tea was full to the brim with ice cubes, which you can do when it's summer and when the tea is brewed intensely enough and the associated components adapt to the ice as it melts. If neither was the case, it simply tasted like nothing and was very poorly implemented for a lot of money.

Went to order a take-out sandwich when it suddenly started to rain, so decided to eat in. The three very uninterested girls that think service means just standing there and gossiping were not pleased with the fact that we didn’t leave out into the pouring rain. They still gave us the sandwiches in a bag as a hint for us that this was not what they wanted. My friend than asked for plates and they came with one just for her. No cutlery and not even a second plate for me. Unaware of how unprofessional these girls were I thought they might’ve not understood that we were going to eat in (even though we politely said so). So when I informed her again that we were eating in and asked for a second plate she sighed, then said the prices to eat in were different and threw a second plate and some cutlery on the table. The three girls then proceeded to gossip about us while clearly staring at us with disgust. So we then happily ate our sandwich which tasted of nothing and left as soon as we could cause that place makes a person simply angry. Also eating in costs 5 euros more per sandwich - dunno why cause broken plates and being look down upon is not really the vibe to up your prices for.

In this coffee / bakery place the staff - three young women - sits at the table in the back only to discuss extensively different men including their physical features, qualities in bed, perceived intelligence, estimated wealth and so on. All at that typically Dutch loud volume, and the gossipping goes on and on and on for hours. I tried to get a bit of work done on my laptop and had to move four tables towards the front, just to isolate myself from this unprofessional, embarrassing behavior. Those same staff members forgot my pastrami sandwich in the grill, they forgot to bring my almond cookie, and when I paid they forgot to charge me for my second coffee. A completely demotivated group of young waitresses who clearly should not work in hospitality, or perhaps they have a bad boss, but most likely both.

Expensive but very good bread, especially Christmas bread. The scones a little dry.

In the display case there is a muffin for 2.95... but there is no indication that it costs 3.75 if you go there for a coffee. It's not about that f...0.80, but be clear! Otherwise impersonal service, won't come here again

Bad services. I had looked in advance because of my gestational diabetes. When ordering they didn't have it and they didn't come up with any other suggestion. When asked about the ingredients, they did not know and did not want to ask. And my friend got the wrong one and with very little toppings, because we had to leave so we had no time to exchange it.

There is no egg at breakfast. The attendants are not happy apparently. The breads are not fresh. And its expensive. The orange juice is the worst, acid like lemon.

Small chain that serves pastries, sandwiches, breakfast and very good coffee. Easy to miss among the many shops and restaurants on Haarlemmerstraat but I would frequent again. Very friendly service as well!

Great oliebollen and apple beignets which I got for New Year's eve.

A very poor sandwich, for 12.25. Apparently the cheese was almost gone. What a shame!

Attention of 10 and very very good products

Wij hadden een yoghurt met granola besteld en vanwege de dure prijs (+€8) verwachtten wij een grote bowl met van alles. Wat wij daadwerkelijk kregen was een grote teleurstelling. (Zie foto) Deze 150ml yoghurt kan je gewoon in de supermarkt kopen voor één kwart van deze prijs en de hoeveelheid granola is ook mager….. erg jammer, je had het in een paar happen op. Het is je geld niet waard!!!!

Fantastica Bakery a pochi passi dalla stazione centrale. Ottima qualità dei prodotti, sia dolci che salati. Personale molto cortese. Anche da asporto. Accettano solo pagamenti elettronici.

I was in this bakery today and bought a cranberry cookie. It was really nice. This bakery has its own products, all with the best ingredients and on a good price. The service was super, I even got some roge bread to try for free. I absolutely love this bread. I will definitely come back here again

Wir waren zum Frühstück dort. Ein neuer Kellner wurde eingearbeitet. Es war alles leicht chaotisch. Das Brot und alle anderen Zutaten waren ganz ok. Mein Marmeladenglas war so gut wie leer musste ich wieder hinterher laufen. Mein Kaffee wurde vergessen obwohl es im Frühstück enthalten war. Wir würden dort nicht mehr frühstücken.

Notre petit déjeuner était bon, mais nous avons du attendre longtemps les boissons puis le reste du petit déjeuner, ce qui fait les boissons étaient terminées avant le repas!

Really delicious coffee and pastries

Met vrienden er lekker gelunch en service was goed. De hoeveelheid ook. Lekker brood.

Een van de top 3 bakkers in Amsterdam. Zo veel soorten brood van hoge kwaliteit dat je keuze lastig wordt. Superlekker maar ook gezond, op traditionele wijze gebakken (vlaamse broden, Italiaanse foccacia, Franse baguettes ...) je proeft gewoon dat het zo hoort te zijn. Voor jong en oud, iedereen wordt erop verliefd. Morgenochtend weer naar het Vlaamsch Broodhuys Haarlemmerbuurt!

Helaas een grote teleurstelling. Jaren komen we al voor brood en lunchgerechten. Maar de kwaliteit gaat hard achteruit. Service was echt beneden alle peil. Geen bestek, geen servetten. Geen glas bij het flesje Pellegrino. De salades op het brood zijn bedoeld als tonijnsalade en rilette van markreel. Dat was geen rilette. In de zaak stond afval en er lag van alles op de grond.

Petite boulangerie que je connais depuis 10 ans coin tranquille ou l’on peut se poser et bruncher ou même pour le pdj pour start la journée de très bon produits et café voir thés . Cependant l’accueil mérite plus quand même et un mn d’anglais faire répéter 3 fois pour un café en anglais c’est la base et le sourire et très important aussi la demoiselle n’avait pas l’air très contente mais nous nous l’étions mais heureusement son collègue a pris la relève avec brio.
