I like your bakery but it would be nicer if your staff takes care of hygiene better. I got croissant and bread, i am served with bare hands a utensil or gloves could be used instead maybe?

The girls who served us were super friendly. The coffee is delicious, and their cinnamon roll is one of the best I've ever had. We'll be back!

Excellent croissants, yogurt, and granola. The coffee was great as was the service.

Bakeries are my passion: their bread with raisins and orange peel is excellent, as are their almond and spice biscuits.

The place is nice and cozy. The entrance to the store is a bit tucked, but it opens into a more spacious dining room with soft ballads to match the texture of their lovely pastries. To come here and not order the scones would be a crime against humanity. Buttery, soft, but with a thorough bite each one packs a flavorful punch. Combined with the soft butter and jam you get a well rounded pastry that hits every note and doesn’t miss a beat. The almond croissant is also absolutely delicious, flakey and flavorful. They also take some time with the coffee and have lovely presentation with the foam art.

The Amendel croissant was excellent. Super fluffy and sweet. The staff member who recommended it was very kind. The desserts and breads looked really good as well. I was left wanting more! It was a great way to spend some time before heading into a museum 💪🏽😁

No hygiene whatsoever. ALL employees get the bread with their bare hands. I saw one of them touching their nose and then serving a client, so gross!

The young waiters were a little bite lost with the orders but so kind and ready to help. It makes sense to let them learn their job as we all did... The sandwiches were very well made (very large amount of avocado with feta, the slices of salmons delicious), the sourdough very tasty and moister. You're the good team, guys!!

We happened to walk past this café and originally went in just for a coffee – but the menu sounded so inviting that we ended up also having a hot sandwich and dessert. The service and atmosphere at this branch were exceptionally pleasant, and we even returned on the following days because we had enjoyed it so much the first time. We’d definitely go again – it’s well worth a visit! However, a word of caution: although it appears to be a chain, not every branch is equally good, and the food selection can vary. We also found the service in other branches to be far less friendly in comparison.

We came to get a baguette (€3.25) and clearly got one from yesterday. Tough, stale bread. No self-respecting baker sells this.

Hands down, this place makes the best coffee and pain au chocolat in Amsterdam. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’ve got to go! I would love to travel to Amsterdam again just for the coffee I had here. OMG 😭😭

Asked the employee how the baguette was made with yeast or sourdough. They both looked uninterested in actually knowing the answer. Should be basic knowledge especially when paying 3,25 € for a baguette. Just checked the website and the are made with yeast and sourdough. I especially asked because I didn’t want sourdough as they can be too hard when making a sandwich.

Pretty bad and low energy here. Staff are so rude and unfriendly. I’ve started walking even further down the street to a much nicer bakery, despite this being closer. It’s been like this for the 2+ years I’ve lived in this neighbourhood. AVOID!!! Not a good place to start or end your day.

A lovely cafe worth visiting before heading into the museum district of Amsterdam. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. Highly recommend stopping by!

Outstanding bakery products. Vlaamsch Broodhuys makes real bread that you cannot buy in a supermarket. All their products are first rate. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

For a proper and good breakfast, this is a good option. There isn't much variety, but what they have is handmade and looks good. The focaccia and chocolate muffin I ordered were very good, as was the coffee.

Hi, today i have bought a cup of coffee from your shop, while I was waiting for my coffee ( because it took ages) the person who was preparing sandwiches and at the same time serving to the tables took my attention. Her nails were really long acrylic nails and she was preparing everything (avocado, bread , sugar for coffee) with her bear hands. I am sorry but this disgusting. I will never eat or drink smth from your shop anymore. Please stop playing people’s health

I needed a coffee urgently and it was a surprise, not only because of the quality of the coffee, which is correct, but also because of the kindness of the girl who served me, with a big smile. Very much in the style of the hipster cafes in the de pijp area but still remarkable.

Comer dos veces para desayunar en pareja en abril de 2025 La primera vez fue muy buena. El desayuno parisino era excelente y el servicio era excelente. ¿Sin embargo, en la segunda visita? No tan bien. El servicio era muy lento (debido a que los clientes que entraban fuera de la calle eran servidos antes de que los clientes comieran). ¿Y la tostada con mermelada / mantequilla de maní / chocolate para untar? El frasco de mermelada estaba vacío (tomó un frasco de una mesa que estaba esperando a ser despejado) y nunca me dieron mantequilla. La pasta para untar de chocolate también estaba prácticamente vacía. Diré que la mermelada de frambuesa es una de las mejores que he probado. Así que, por desgracia, preciosos productos decepcionados por el personal.

Um espaço muito agradável para curtir um bom café, pães e tortas. A atmosfera é aconchegante, o que é muito bom em dias frios e chuvosos como os de Amsterdam. Os cookies são também muito saborosos. é uma excelente parada antes das visitas aos museus próximos (Van Gogh e Rijksmuseum.

Ik was de enige klant in de zaak. Bestelde koffie en een broodje. Aardige jongen hielp me. Hoorde daarna achter de toonbank paar keer zeggen: Is de koffie voor die vrouw? Ja, die is voor die vrouw. Broodje ook voor die vrouw? (Kwam beetje onaardig over. En ook tikje dom omdat ik de enige klant was.)

Onvriendelijke bediening & veel fouten… het personeel is niet op elkaar afgestemd. De koffies met een siroopje smaken nauwelijks door, kan je even goed geen vragen voor die 0,95 extra 😬. In het algemeen minder goed dan de andere filialen.

Excellent coffee, bread and pastries. The problem is a bit the service. Been twice now and apparently running such a tent with 3 people is quite a challenge for Gen-Z. Literally once sat with 3 tables in the 'restaurant' section, where I think we had to wait 10-15 minutes for a cappuccino. Because... Gen-Z'er comes to deliver something, doesn't look back, walks back to the kitchen... too bad, if you had looked up for 2 seconds you could have taken our order. The same thing again today... working a little further, making contact with customers and tackling things efficiently, I think, would help a lot.

Terrible. Ordered two croissants probably from days before. Only one arrives, taken with hands without gloves or tongs by the waitress, who meanwhile touches the PDA. Only one arrives, at the request of the second, even though they were placed in a basket to be picked up and carried, they make us wait another twenty minutes.

They could make us a format for Real Time entitled "I didn't know I was a bartender"... Sunday morning for breakfast we enter this place: we sit at the only table that didn't have dirty dishes (the tables have not yet been cleared since the evening previous one, with food leftovers here and there), where fortunately 4 menus are placed; there are 3 waiters talking to each other at the counter without doing anything, sipping coffee, but they come to take the order after 20 minutes. Finally we are served: cappuccino and tea brought in the cup without saucer, spoon and sugar. The freshly heated brioches are stuck to the paper napkin due to the melted sugar. Surreal experience.

Very friendly staff, excellent for those with lactose intolerance. As an alternative to milk, the place offers soy, coconut and almond milk. While waiting for breakfast they offered us a portion of cheesecake.

Unprofessional, unfriendly and rude staff, except for the male colleague. The two girls look arrogantly past you and don't let you know if they are coming to your table. When you ask, you get a grumpy and bored answer. Almost everything on the menu was not available and in response: “it is just very busy sir” half of the dining area was empty. When we didn't get anything after a long wait, we asked if they had forgotten us: the male colleague again showed understanding and apologies. After responding to this with understanding, I received an unintelligible snarl from the female colleague while I was walking back. When we finally got something, the coffee was as lukewarm as it could be, and the girl had given me a broken cup. People behind us and next to us had also forgotten them, there was zero communication. Never coming back here, the two girls are unsuitable for the catering industry.

Staff are talking loudly on the phone in the store. Lukewarm coffee in a small cup. Piece of apple pie was really far too small for a high price. Amsterdam can do without these types of places like a toothache

Solo quería café y pastelería para el desayuno. Un montón de charla detrás, generalmente brusco / indiferente servicio. Tardaron siglos en conseguir un pastelero medio y el café era débil. No te molestes, muchos otros lugares estarán encantados de servirte.

The food is touched with bare hands after touching the computer, cards, etc. It is extremely chaotic and we waited for 5 mins just for someone to get our food from the other side of the counter and get it over to us.

Nice place for a drink and something sweet. Many locals are coming in to buy bread so we figured it could be a good choice despite the google ratings. We enjoyed it and food was what we expected.

Popped in for a coffee and sandwich while exploring ... Poor service as was left standing for about 5 mins waiting to be served with three staff standing about. Waited 25 minutes for the sandwich while they forgot to make it . Wasn't busy either. Poor coffee too unfortunately.

The coffee is okay, nothing outstanding but the place is very convenient. It has a good location The desserts are delicious, there are many options, the tartlet with chocolate was my favorite. We also tried the tartlet with red berries and sugar, it had a good presentation with quality ingredients. The guys serving were friendly and very attentive.

Been here plenty of times and I always get the same treatment, no matter by which staff member. The staff look like they really hates their jobs… and their life. They barely look at you, they’re rude and dry. Not even a “thank you”. It doesn’t cost anything to be nice, no?

Interesting Bakery. Limited Vegetarian options. Sourdough bread was dense and consistent, although not extraordinary. On the whole, sandwich experience was not worth the price. Tarts and Scones were extraordinary though. Right balance of flavors, no after taste. Jam and cream were a treat ! Worth it

Very friendly atmosphere, delicious breakfast! Muffin, bread and croassaints. Not to mention the jelly, peanut butter and butter that accompany the small breakfast.

I’ve visited this store two times and both experiences have been disappointing. First time, I came around 8.15 and I was told the store was closed (eventhough their opening times indicated it opened at 8). Second time I made a purchase of 10 croissants (around 20€) only to be given croissants from the day before, which were stale and chewy. If I wanted the same kind of quality I can find on “too good to go” I would not be paying full price. There’s plenty of interesting bakeries in the area so please avoid this one!

Locale carino ma norme igieniche totalmente distanti dai miei standard. Zollette di zucchero adagiate in una ciotolina al centro del tavolo, aperte (senza coperchio) e senza nemmeno un utensile per prenderle…quindi ciotola dove tutti mettono le mani. Croissant e marmellata serviti in maniera carina, in quanto la marmellata viene portata direttamente con il barattolo; barattolo che ho visto togliere dal frigo già aperto e messo sul vassoio: con un cucchiaino quindi devi prendere la marmellata e metterla nella brioche…e poi rimettere il cucchiaino nel barattolo se vuoi altra marmellata. Per niente igienico. Nonostante il locale carino mi trovo a dover sconsigliare assolutamente questo posto

Great soy cappuccino (and I'm Italian). We also had a sandwich and a juice and they were also really good. The sweet bakery looked really tasty but unfortunately I didn't see anything vegan so I didn't get anything. Everything's a little bit pricey but it's Amsterdam, everything is pricey anyway 🤷‍♀️

Vandaag was ik in Amsterdam bij een zeer populaire Vlaamse bakkerij: Vlaamsch Broodhuys voor koffie en broodjes. De service was beneden alle peil. Niet alleen kreeg ik een espresso zonder schoteltje, bijna koud en zonder crèmelaagje, maar ook nog eens met een lepel erin gestoken. Een schandaal! De gegrilde pastrami-broodjes bleken doordrenkt van vet te zijn met een dun plakje rosbief in plaats van pastrami. Zo taai als een schoenzool, niet te eten! Dit alles zou kunnen worden toegeschreven aan onervaren jong personeel, maar onbeleefdheid valt niet te rechtvaardigen. Gedurende mijn hele verblijf in de bakkerij, waar vier medewerkers waren, roddelden ze luidruchtig en beledigend over klanten. Ik wees hen hierop en zei dat het niet beleefd was en dat het me niet beviel om onder zulke omstandigheden te eten! De dame die de broodjes maakte reageerde met “dat is jouw mening. We leven in een vrij land dus je mag vinden wat je wilt”. Ze was onbeschoft en onaangenaam. Het gebrek aan fatsoen van deze jonge mensen is verbijsterend. Verschrikkelijke service. Een schande. Today I was in Amsterdam at a very popular Flemish bakery: Vlaamsch Broodhuys for coffee and sandwiches. The service was below par. Not only did I receive an espresso without a saucer, almost cold and without crema, but also with a spoon stuck in it. A scandal! The grilled pastrami sandwiches appeared to be drenched in grease with a thin slice of roast beef instead of pastrami. As tough as the sole of a shoe, inedible! All this could be attributed to inexperienced young staff, but rudeness cannot be justified. During my entire stay in the bakery, where there were four employees, they gossiped loudly and insultingly about customers. I pointed this out to them and said that it was not polite and that I did not like eating under such conditions! The lady who made the sandwiches responded with “that's your opinion. We live in a free country so you can find whatever you want.” She was rude and unpleasant. The lack of decency of these young people is astonishing. Terrible service. A disgrace.

The restaurant is in a good location. The sandwiches were tasty, but average for the price.

Employees were slow to react to me standing there for a few minutes, kept talking between themselves instead of helping customers. The pastrami sandwich was 13 euros (!!) so I expected a big one, it was small... it also wasn't filled that much either, felt quite ripped off. The taste was good but definitely not worth the price. Not gonna come back and would not recommend.

Terrible service…. thats it. The Store is nice, the ambiente and also the Food is very nice but I waited 20 minutes for a Sandwiches. There are Students working who don't pay attention to the customers, we waited at the cashier for 10 minutes while 3 Workers where on their phone in the kitchen. Sad..

Too expensive and not even good coffee

The lack of menu images upsets you, it was much below our expectations, it comes with toast as a hot sandwich and is overpriced, it won't make you happy but you won't go hungry.

I had to ask the spoon for the coffee (strange request, uh?) and he gave me it with his fingers on the spoon itself instead of on the handler. Imagine what they do when not in public. Never again here.

Went on last Saturday and the service was very bad. Bossy, disrespectful, ignoring, and many mistakes. As myself being a waiter in the same area, I see them as very unprofessional.

Absolutely avoid this deplorable place. A complete waste of time and money. If you're thinking of venturing there, prepare yourself for a disappointing experience, because there's nothing worse for miles around. The reception, run by a so-called "manager" (the title alone, without any skills involved), is the image of a smile as rare as eclipses. As for what we ordered and received: A crumble and a Dutch donut: Drier than your grandmother's biscuits, which even the ants refuse. A strawberry banana smoothie: It looked like a mixture concocted by an apprentice chemist who obviously didn't understand the recipe. A coffee: arrived later than the bill. Food and service: A complete revival would be welcome, as it is currently a total disaster

Brun, tout échevelé, pas un sourire, pas un regard ou presque, pas un mot "s'il vous plaît" ou "pardon" quand il vous sert... aucune expression sur son visage Il vous sert quand même, mais vraiment vous avez envie de lui dire de faire un autre métier si ça l'em...rde autant. Les tartines étaient très bonnes, mais à 11 € Il ne restait presque plus de gâteaux, mais celui que nous avons partagé était bon. Le lieu est agréable en soi, mais alors vraiment le serveur....?????

The service was average, and while the venue is aesthetically pleasing, my friend and I found ourselves genuinely amused and shocked by the dessert's petite size, especially given the high cost.

Wanneer je 10 euro betaald voor twee broden, dan mag je verwachten dat de service navenant is. Echter, in deze winkel voert sacherijn en botheid de boventoon. Op klantvriendelijk gedrag zijn ze hier niet getraind, helaas!

I recently tried the Parisian breakfast at Het Vlaamsch Broodhuis, which included a baguette, croissant, and a choice of coffee or tea. Alongside these, they served three spreads—jam, peanut butter, and chocolate spread—all presented in their original jars, which, to be honest, looked quite unappetizing. Each spread came with its own spoon, a thoughtful touch, but it raised hygiene concerns for me. The use of communal spoons invites the risk of double-dipping, leading to potential contamination between patrons. It's not the most appealing or responsible approach. As a suggestion, providing separate, clean containers for each spread that can be easily washed in the dishwasher would greatly improve the overall dining experience in terms of both freshness and hygiene.

Lettere taartjes, moest wel 3x vragen om chocolademelk voor m’n dochter. Ook toilet had geen zeep of doekjes om je handen mee af te vegen (toilet was onder de bril ook echt al lang vies, doet je afvragen hoe ze de rest schoonmaken/onderhouden).

Really fantastic bread, and the cinnamon roll was really tasty. we initially popped in to escape the rain but stayed for a drink and a pastry. Service was a little on the slow side but we're not sure if this was to give us time to look at the menu or not. They were also short on drinks so had to change out initial choice to something they had in stock. But all in all I would recommend this as a good place to stop and enjoy for a short while.

Vreselijke service. Studenten die geen aandacht hebben voor de klanten. Enorm lang moeten wachten. We kregen ons eten allemaal op een ander moment, konden dus niet samen eten. Wilden bijbestellen maar hebben opgegeven. Op andere locatie Elandgracht gelukkig andere ervaring

Terrible, terrible, terrible service. Unbelievably bad service. Told to sit down and that they’d take the order at the table multiple times whilst they took every other order. Still no service when there were no other customers to serve. Food finally arrived piecemeal and was so so. Not particularly warm either. Drinks were also forgotten about. If you can’t cater for people eating in, don’t try.

Vandaag was ik bij Vlaamsch Broodhuys om drie taartjes te kopen om mee te nemen. Bij het afrekenen bleken deze maar liefst 5,50 per stuk te kosten, in plaats van de 4,35 die op de kaartjes in de vitrine stond. Niet netjes en ook behoorlijk aan de prijs naar mijn mening! (Volgende keer gewoon weer Holtkamp daar zijn ze meer dan een euro goedkoper! )

Bad service and bad food quality, overpriced. Such a pity because it is in a nice location and can be a cozy lovely place to sit at and even work. The croissant in the morning at 10:30 was already stale, probably not fresh and from yesterday. The foods in the pictures weren’t any better. There were 4 people working in the cafe and none of them bothered to clean the tables, or take orders; we had to go to the counter to remind them.

Siamo stai ieri mattina con la mia ragazza e per essere ad amsterdam qualità buona, prezzi un po troppo alti , staff molto cordiale , è stato bello trovare una ragazza italiana , ci ritornerò:)
