We went for breakfast: two cappuccinos, which were pretty average, and two sandwiches: one with ham and cheese and the other with chicken and pesto, which were very good. The place is large and well-maintained. And the terrace was very comfortable. The service was friendly and professional. I recommend it.

Welcoming, friendly and fast service, easy location but quite poor price-performance sandwich unfortunately. When I ordered 12,5eur pulled chicken& pesto sandwich, I expected better taste and size than this. Too expensive :(

Beware!! I ordered a pot of tea for one and was charged €9.50 and another 2.95 for the pleasure of lukewarm water as we waited 25 minutes for the food and it went cold. See the photo of the receipt! Had to ask for a top up of hot water because the first cup was cold. Most expensive pot of tea I’ve ever had! And the pot of tea is advertised for 2 but it was only for one! Seems this cafe is in to making money from unsuspecting tourists. Food was not good and not as described either. Disappointing to say the least! Avoid!!

We visited the café around 10:30 a.m. to have breakfast. We first ordered drinks as we were still deciding on what to eat. Unfortunately, one of the drinks was spilled on one of our pants while being served, and the staff didn’t even ask if we needed a napkin or anything to clean it up. On top of that, the chai latte tasted like plain milk with no noticeable chai flavor. We had to wait a very long time for our drinks, and the croissants we ordered never arrived at all. When we asked about breakfast, we were told that the kitchen was already closed. However, at the neighboring table, sandwiches were being served, and we could clearly see that sandwiches were still being prepared at the counter. Overall, the experience was very disappointing—both in terms of service and communication.

Fresh rolls and Willemijn was very nice. We will definitely come back.

Delicious food but service duration was quite long

At 09:30 it turned out that there were no more eggs, salads and ham kas croissants. The baguette seemed to be old bread from the day before.

Called in here for Breakfast and was thoroughly disappointed. Staff were barely out of first gear and not at all attentive. Ordered toast (after a long wait) and it came out after an excessive wait (30+minutes)- untoasted. Need to lift their game service and food.

Wow!!… not in a good way…. I ordered an Iced tea and the “beef pastrami” sandwich. The sandwich was paper thin. One micro slice of pastrami with delicious gouda cheese and enough cabbage to fill in the gaps lol. $15 USD for basically a burnt grilled cheese sando is sad. The service unfortunately was worse. The waitress came to take the plate, didn’t ask me how it was because she new it was bad or just doesnt care. What got me angry was when she threw a dirty napkin in my iced tea that i wasn’t finished with yet, and took that away too. This place is awful and i can see why it wasn’t busy.

Great place to grab a sandwich for lunch, very tasty and nice relaxed atmosphere to watch the world go by.

Sandwich with avocado was 7.95. When I paid I had to pay 12.95 because I had eaten it on the spot. But that was not told in advance and it was not indicated anywhere. Never again

Ok breakfast, a bit boring. The eggs were hard boiled.

It's definitely not clean. A slice of bread with cheese on it and 11 euros. The service was slow even though it was empty. The only good thing was that the waiter was friendly. We entered by chance but it was a bad experience. I do not recommend.

If there is no croissant for breakfast in a bakery because they have run out badly, we start. two coffees with two cookies €12.98, the cookies are good, but the coffees are horrible

Great place for breakfast/brunch or pastries to go. Grilled sandwiches were fantastic, medium breakfast was kinda disappointing due to dry bread and cold boiled eggs. Coffee, fresh juice and chocolate croissants are wonderful!

We waited almost an hour alone for the coffee and were consistently ignored by the waitress and had to go to the counter to order food, which then took another hour. Service a disaster.

Great little place for breakfast. Coffee is great, Pastries (Pain au chocolat and Sausage Rolls are my favorite) are consistently good, and service has been friendly and fast.

I tried different pastries and all of them tasted great. Coffee was great too. Maybe a little bit pricey for what it was. Would definitely come back to try something else. The personnel was friendly too.

The service is honestly so disgraceful. I had to get up after 15 minutes and order at the bar because no one was walking by. I also ordered toast in a tuna, after 30 minutes I was told that the sauce had run out. If I had known this before I would have ordered something else. We then ordered a coffee and apparently this order never came through, we also received no compensation at checkout. Shame

The place is nothing exceptional. The service was terrible, as was the coffee. The desserts are not bad but there is much better in the surrounding area. We waited 15 minutes to get two coffees and two croissants.

The bad reviews almost made me miss this gem. For context, I got takeout. This place is the easiest walk from the Amsterdam Marriott hotel. I got two sandwiches. One hot ham and cheese essentially (Flaredine hot sandwich) and Mediterranean tuna. The hot sandwich stayed warm through an 11 C wet November day. We also got a DELICIOUS chocolate cake that has my partner currently licking the fork as I type this. There is a bar, a sit down cafe and to go section. It did take some time to get my order but as there were only two people I observed catering to almost 30. My order came out quite quickly. I walked back with my stack of sandwiches and pastries while taking pictures in the other. A truly memorable Amsterdam experience for us. Will be returning again. Some people obsessed with being treated like a princess at every interaction appear to dislike this place, good riddance. The place does not appear built for large parties though some were there. There are unfortunately no pictures of the food as we devoured it too fast.

Terrible service and overpriced.

-Food: the cristophe pavé batch was too salty, I must have bought an unlucky batch, not edible; the coffee mocha wasn't properly done, the chocolate was still solid at the bottom (it's a 4.75 euro coffee, not cheap and it's a pity that I decide to treat myself to a special coffee and it's so disappointing). I think it gets never ordered, or the barista is not a barista. -Service: the staff got confused, they sliced the wrong bread but charged me for the right order. Overall, they don't look happy to be working there. Atmosphere: that's the only thing that I recommend, it's a pretty big space ok the corner with many seat spots.

Oh my! This is the yummiest! The best bread, pastries, spreads, and beverages! I recommend trying it all! 10/10⭐️

We came for breakfast. It was close to the hotel we were staying at. I recommend croissants and coffee. Especially their friendliness is very nice.

They rudely told us to sit down at a table when we went to the cashier to order. Then we waited for 20 minutes without being acknowledged even though there was only one other table with guests. We tried getting their attention but nothing happened. The food was also very expensive. Finally we decided to leave and find another breakfast place.

Have really enjoyed the friendly smiles and delicious pastries this week. Especially the scone!

Ridiculous, we went to have a nice sandwich but the experience wasn’t good, party of 4, 3 of us ordered sandwiches and 2 beers, we were spending money. One of us, my daughter, has Celiac Disease, gluten allergy so, she went to a special Gluten Free place to get something she could eat, when she got out her soup we were told she couldn’t eat anything from outside, totally understandable if we were not ordering anything but, M hey 3 of us were paying for our lunch, we felt unappreciated and not humanly treated, what a shame since the sandwiches are good but makes you not want to buy anything there ever again!! And on top of it all the waitress told us”good for you, you saved 50F”, WHAT!!! That wasn't the point!!! Oh and before I forget the toilettes were disgusting, pay more attention to the cleanliness, it makes you think how clean everything else is!! Super bad experience, wouldn't recommend it!! They sent us walking outside and told us we had to find somewhere to eat in the rain. WHAT!! That managemnets needs to train theur staff in special circumstances like these🤦🏻‍♀️

I wish I had read the other reviews about the lack of interest in serving tourists before I spent 5 min trying to order and then giving up. Luckily there are plenty of nice coffee/breakfast places in the same street!

Dishonest. The products are good but unfortunately the service is not. Ordered one small snack from the counter and sat outside to eat it. When I went in to pay, they informed me of a €2 service fee for “dining in”. What a scam! The price of my snack was €3,50, so the supposed service fee was over half the total. It’s clearly intended for customers sitting down for table service and ordering a full lunch— neither of which I did. Just seems like a dishonest business to me.

Very unsympathetic manager named David, creates a very unpleasant work atmosphere. Maybe he broke up with his boyfriend. Not everyone belongs in the catering industry, Jeroen, hopefully you understand that he is the face of your tent. You better not keep that any longer.

Great bakery, spacious and delicious

For someone used to daily good bread in Germany, the bread here was a blessing in Amsterdam! A decent variety of freshly baked, wholesome bread as well as some good pastries and coffee.

No one came for 20 minutes, when we came to order, we were told that they would come... no one came

Open too late as standard (second time in a week), people don't stand in front of a closed bakery at eight o'clock for fun. Good brioche, otherwise too expensive. Other potential bakers: there is little competition for Vlaamsch Broodhuys, so Oud-West is ready for you

Place that seems very cool but you can buy breakfast in a supermarket and the staff doesn't want to work.

I ordered a Caesar salad for lunch. The portion was very small and without bread!!! in a bread house... when I pointed it out they said: "yes, sorry, but this is the dish." the price-quality ratio was not in balance.

Not what it used to be. EUR 15 for a very skinny Caesar Salad: a few lettuce leaves, some Parmesan cheese gratings, a few pieces of radish, an anchovi or two, and a boiled egg. The slice of bread on the side has been scrapped. We used to visit often for lunch. It's now definitely off our list.

Indeed, a very strange service! I sat down at a table and no one wanted to come over for 15 minutes, alas, I went to another establishment! There used to be good service here.

I went to this place for years. You could always get a delicious, extensive breakfast there. Nowadays you don't get that anymore. Something that looks similar no longer has the price/quantity and price/quality as before. Staff is unfriendly and the atmosphere is not what it used to be.

Cafeteria muito agradável que tem em vários locais na Holanda. A fila não é grande e o serviço é bem rápido. Boa opções pra Brunch, ou café da manhã, já que tem vários tipos de pães, muffins, cookies, tortas, cupcakes…

It was my first stop in Amsterdam. It wasn’t crowded, staff was sweet and I got a good service. Food was great!

5 people working and 20 minutes to be serviced, people even left and told the waitress that it was not normal all she did was complain to her co workers

The place was a bit dirty- floors, tables - I had to clean our table so we could eat. There was a dirty bucket in the middle of the shop. Food was tasty but overpriced.

We had a delicious brunch that set us up for the day in Amsterdam. While it was neither the fastest food nor cheapest food in the world, the sandwiches we ate - had really interesting (and creative) flavour combinations - tasted nutritious and were restorative, a counterbalance to the previous evenings’ pancakes. - sandwich is the same word for the thing I make in the morning to take to work, or might buy in a supermarket, and what I ate at the Broodhuys. But that is the only thing that’s common because every ingredient is of another level (to be fair, my sandwiches would also be better eaten in that environment, served on wooden boards, while on holiday but the difference is still night and day). - if I lived nearby, it would definitely be a favourite treat. The kids’ had more typical fare but loved their’s too. I wouldn’t normally spend so much on what’s basically a sandwich but… i was on holiday, it was much cheaper than a crashingly dull and stale hotel breakfast, it powered us through to dinner (save for a few snacks), and it brought back happy memories of elaborate Belgian lunches too. I had the boerenkipsalade. Others had the klein ontbijt, rilettes van makreel, and one of the grilled sandwiches.

Excellent place for brunch. As one of the best Flemish bread bakeries, they have expanded to neighboring countries and Amsterdam branch is definitely worth the try. Avocado salad and the bread that goes with it was simply delightful.

12€ for a slice of bread with some avocado spread and tiny bit of feta cheese,simply ridiculous. The bread was tasty at least.

The food itself was decent but unfortunately I was hit on the head twice with a heavy metal pole which was attached to the parasol. It was pretty painful so I’m not best pleased. So having gained a big bruise and a new fear of parasols, I probably wouldn’t return. Enter at your own risk ⚠️☂️

Een beproefde formule met heerlijke spullen. Koffie is prima net als de lekkernijen die ze hebben Deze vestiging is heerlijk ruim opgezet en de bediening is vriendelijk. Minpuntje waren de toiletten die er niet al te fris waren (dit is wel altijd een moment opname)
