Tourist trap / low quality bread which tastes like supermarke

This morning I ordered a cheese croissant at the Amsterdam South Station location, which was far too greasy. When you squeeze it, butter and oil come out. I also had a question for the dark-skinned employee who was making the bread, whether there was an option for a different type of sandwich. Then I received a very irritated short response from her that she was busy and that I should just have to come back at another time. I assume that making a sandwich only takes 2 minutes. So not customer friendly at all. Although the other colleague was reasonable.

I'm sorry because that's an awesome bakeries chain, and I usually eat their focaccia, it's so tasty! 😋 Unfortunately, at this location, the old lady serving at the counter is rude. Today I witnessed a couple of Indian(?) tourists ask for their kid to use the toilet, and she kicked them out with a bit racist comment. Please fix your staff.

On 23-8 in morning , lady with red hair , i asked for what i need she grabbed it with bare hands and throw it in counter and pointed to pin machine without didn’t left me a feeling of respecting the client, maybe she needed a morning coffee, after that i noticed she put gloves with her colleague, well that is late . I didn’t want make a fuzz out of it because i dont want ruin my morning , and review is more valuable

I am writing in English here because your lady shop assistant today with red-coloured hair was speaking English to me which was not the problem. Went to this bakery around 7.30 this morning in the rain. I took all the 3 bags (4 rolls per bag) of white bread rolls available on the shelf plus another 2 bags (4 rolls per bag) of brown bread rolls. When I put them on the counter next to the cashier and said I like to add on another 4 pieces of white bread rolls, this lady started nagging at me that I have finished buying all the white bread rolls available in the shop for today and that other customers could not buy them anymore. She then said she has no more white bread rolls to add on. When I pointed to the 2 white bread rolls standing on the bread shelf behind her and said I take these 2 pieces, she then reluctantly took 4 extra white bread rolls hidden behind the cashier counter and packed them in plastic bag. She continued nagging that I should have called yesterday to book in advance all these bread rolls. Now there was not enough stock for other customers to buy for their weekend. On one hand she nagged at me for buying too much without advanced booking but on the other hand she was speculating about the white bread roll sales today and allowing other customers to stock up for their weekend. Hello, is she not biting her own tongue or nagging is her talent? This is a retail shop, I assumed the bakery shop owner would also be happy to finish selling all the fresh bread as soon as possible instead of proportioning the sales throughout the day?!

Unremarkable, flavorless, and dry gevulde koek. No discernable filling. Disappointed.

€3.25 for a very ordinary chocolate roll. Ridiculous. Never come here again. There's a golden croissant hanging outside. Well, that's right.

An attractive storefront with a delightful selection of pastries. We enjoyed the savoury croissants with ham and cheese - yum!! Took with us for our city adventure almond and chocolate croissants too, what a treat. They only accept card payments here, customer service was not notable. There is a market outside on the street which probably offers many a great deal better options and probably at lower prices too. But this bakery opens earlier than most vendors and was close to our accommodation.

The place looks nice from the front, and it is nice inside, but the woman who served me was rude and talking under her breath. The pastries was just okay. Nothing special. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Excellent offer and friendly staff. Quite pricey. The vegetarian mushroom roll was great!

At the entrance to the market, an amazing variety, everything is fresh and crispy, not crowded, everything runs fast. Better before or after the market, there is no such selection in the market at all.

Expensive, nothing special (supermarket comparable) and non-professional customer service. I bought muffins and bread.

bought some pastries here about a month ago, but they were unmemorable, so i haven’t been back. i recently found another branch of Simon Meijssen, at the museumplein, and somehow the selection there looked much better. the service was also better.

Thought I’d get a nice croissant, but it was very dry. Albert Heijn does butter croissants better for half of the price.

Good pastries,convenient to grab and go. Everything looks amazing, would recommend the almond croissants and pain au chocolat. Staff were nice too

Good fresh products that they prepare and bake on site but they recently increased their prices a lot, it is close to ridiculous now how expensive it is vs. other very good bakeries. However they have not become kinder. Especially the woman working in the bakery on the market. Very unfriendly, close to rude. What a pity.

Geweldig lekker brood en diverse

LECKER! Mandelcroissant, Käse-Schinken-Croissant und Schokocroissant wurden probiert und für so gut befunden, dass wir die restlichen Tage unseres Citytrips immer wieder hierhin kamen fürs Frühstück.

Lots of variety which was nice. Close to the park so we went there after to relax and eat. We only speak english so we were just pointing and hoping for the best which everything we tried was great! Coffee menu was on other side of the room so we missed out on that.

Ruim assortiment, vriendelijk personeel. Ik haal hier altijd mijn brood en soms zo'n overheerlijke amandel croissant. Wel aan de prijzige kant, anders 5 sterren gehad.

Simon Meijssen is mijn vaste bakker voor brood. Helaas heeft deze vestiging sinds enige tijd een nieuwe snijmachine die 18 sneetjes in plaats van de gebruikelijke 20 uit een heel brood snijdt. Afgezien van dat ze vrij dik zijn, kom ik daardoor steeds 2 sneetjes te kort tot de volgende zaterdag, de enige dag dag ik langs kan komen. Ik ga daarom liever naar een andere vestiging voor mijn brood. Met de rest van het assortiment heb ik weinig ervaring. Het ziet er goed uit, maar is erg prijzig.

Heerlijke chocoladecakejes hier gegeten, het zou nog lekkerder zijn als het fruit erop wat minder zoet was, dit geeft het cakeje meer diepgang. De quiche was opgewarmd helaas zacht ipv knapperig. Het personeel was aardig.

Find this place before going into the street market of Albert Cuypstraat. There are plenty of options for a snack, both salty and sweet. Also saw a lot of locals buying stuff for breakfast. Good place!

Cute little bakery with lots of options. Stopped here on my first afternoon visiting Amasterdam. Prices are very reasonable. Staff were really friendly and pleasant.
