Wandelcafé Onder de Poort in Wijk 03 Hulsberg

We found this gem right next to the Pieterpad trail. A lovely rest stop for hikers; it's been well-thought-out. The owner is very friendly, and the terrace is cozy and thoughtfully decorated. The homemade soup and toasted sandwiches were delicious, and the rhubarb-strawberry crumble was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

While walking the Pieterpad we needed a cold drink and then we saw a note hanging on a tree with the reference to this walking café. A warm man and nice seats outside and inside. There was even homemade cake. There was also a tap for drinking water outside on the wall. Highly recommended.

To be honest, I rested there during a hike when they were closed. It looked cozy, but it was also dark 😃

It wasn't clean and the tables were covered in crumbs. I ordered soup and apple juice anyway. My partner sat with his back to the kitchen while I watched the soup being made. The man heating the soup (presumably the owner) repeatedly used the same spoon to taste it (without rinsing it or using a new one in between), and then gave the soup, along with the spoon he'd licked, to my partner. I confronted him about this, and instead of offering to make a new soup (without the spoon he'd licked), he told me I was "crazy" and had to get out of his restaurant. I asked to pay (since we do have decency), but that wasn't allowed either. Absolutely not recommended!

A very cute walking cafe in a beautiful location where you can really enjoy walking. The cafe is a bit small but certainly cozy. Dogs are welcome and they don't mind dirty shoes at all. They also have homemade pastries and they had a very tasty gluten-free brownie!

During our 3rd Camini walk we stopped here for a break. The atmosphere was nice, the coffee and lentil pie tasted delicious. A nice place for a break.

After a hot bike ride up the mountain it was wonderful to enjoy excellent coffee and delicious home-baked gooseberry/strawberry pie. Very friendly service. Next time I will book the B&B next door!

Super nice place to sit for a while while walking. Small range, but you can taste that it is made with love. Owner Peter is very friendly and has a nice chat. Highly recommended to visit once

What a wonderful place to take a break during a beautiful walk in South Limburg. The delicious lentil soup was absolutely delicious on a rainy Pieterpad day. What nice and friendly people!

This year my wife walked the famous Pieterpad route with a walking buddy. I also participated in a number of stages, including some in Limburg where the Pieterpad finishes. Along the way you will of course come across many nice locations that you would normally not visit/visit, which are very worthwhile. It might also be an idea to walk the Pieterpad route.

In one word beautiful. Recommended.

Great authentic cafe in the countryside. Ideal for a stopover on a tour. Time has literally stood still here. Snacks fresh from the kitchen and a good cold drink & coffee. Great!!!

Hier in Aalbeek findet alle 2 Jahre eine Strassenkirmes statt mit anhänglichem Trödelmarkt, klein aber fein 😋 Die Einnahmen sind für einen guten Zweck.

Leuke locatie en al helemaal voor de wandelaars die hun benen ff willen strekken. Ze zijn ook nog een B&B en hebben overheerlijke zelf gebakken vlaaien

We waren een etappe van het Pieterpad aan het lopen en kwamen op het juiste moment dit Wandelcafe tegen! Wel alleen in het weekend geopend. Heerlijk even kunnen bij komen met een kaastosti op speltbrood. Echt een kleine oase op onze wandeltocht!

Vriendelijke ontvangst! Prima koffie en vlaai + Peter heeft een gevoel voor humor dat is altijd leuk.

Volle bak. Bezoekers schijnen er nog nooit van covid te hebben gehoord. De koffie buiten geserveerd was heerlijk.

Vandaag verassende ontdekking gedaan,zoals zo vaak als je ergens voor de eerste keer komt tijdens een ritje met de scooter zoals ook nu in Aalbeek, koffie met zelfgebakken vlaai, super lekker ga zeker vaker na deze kennismaking, vriendelijke bediening, nieuwsgierig geworden probeer het ook eens,je zult er geen spijt van krijgen groetjes Bart.

Topplekje voor de wandelaar met een eigenaar die er wat moois van maakt. Aanrader!

Wat een bijzondere plek. Heerlijke op maat gemaakte koffie met zelfgemaakte vlaai die eindelijk eens niet te zoet is. Prachtige plek met tegelkachel en lemen muren. Vrolijke actieve eigenaar die iets moois in de wereld zet. Van deze Pieterpad loper.

Allerhartelijkst ontvangen. Lekker sterke bak koffie en eigengemaakte taart. Supergezellig.

Héérlijk koffie en vlaai..leuke gastheer

Een alleraardigst plekje voor een vermoeide Pieterpad wandelaar, lekkere koffie en ook de Engadiner walnotentaart was lekker. Alleen jammer van het noodweer dat kort na ons vertrek losbarstte :-)
