Wander Island in Vinkeveen

Food with a view! Beautiful view of the turbulent lakes. Had a nice lunch, the decoration of the main courses is a bit sparse. A salad or some vegetables would have completed it. The piri piri chicken could have been grilled longer, it was still attached to the bone.

Although there were only two of us in the restaurant on a rainy Wednesday afternoon, we enjoyed a delicious lunch, the cozy decor, the view and, above all, the friendly welcome and service. We actually wanted some soup, but not a whole portion. Then we'll share a portion, was the proposal. TOP. And the smoked tomato soup was delicious.

A very busy restaurant where it is best to reserve in advance (even in the low season). The portions of the main courses were large enough, very tasty and visually well prepared. The menu in English, which could be accessed via a QR code, was unfortunately a little different than the one in Dutch, but the waiter took a lot of time to explain everything to us in detail.

A wonderful place to escape from everyday life. You can go here for lunch and dinner. Wander Island is more than a 'beach club', much more. Wander Island is open all year round! It is a restaurant with fine cuisine, a good wine list and fantastic staff. Recommended!

Nice restaurant, good atmosphere and service. Shared dining is fun. Main course shrimps were a bit dry and tasteless. Best for the price. Please come back again in the summer when the terrace is open.

Great fun afternoon and evening at the Wanders Winter event, ending with a delicious meal in the restaurant. Willem and his team, both in the kitchen and in the service, ensure that you feel welcome and are served perfectly. The food is simply fantastic! The new interior is beautiful and very cozy. Ate here with friends for lunch. Food is tasty. Meal salad was tasty, dressing could have been a little less. Flammkuchen and beet carpaccio delicious. Friendly service. Beautiful decoration and the place is lovely.

27-10. A new chef has been cooking here for a few months now. Yes, with a capital letter! Super fresh oysters, flammkuchen, brilliantly prepared and juicy diamond tenderloin, delicious grilled chicken and first-class vegetables. Wine really tasty and the coffee too. Smooth and nice service. We will come back here!

yes really - 5 stars for almost everything! Wander Island has always been a special place, from the beginning. But it's only getting better - and with the current chef, things are in perfect order when it comes to food. The service is nice and attentive (your dog will probably want a drink too)! Why then 4 stars for the service - the dog was frequently mentioned by the service (I really like it), but I wonder if the service then hands down. But that's just an assumption on my part. In short; great, super nice tent! Absolutely recommended! Margo

Very nice place. The rest deserves some attention. Upon arrival I was told that I was pregnant also because of food. The chicken tacos we ordered looked delicious. Unfortunately there were a few pieces of raw chicken in there. I finally ate without the chicken and when the waitress asked if everything was to my liking I said, "There were a few pieces of raw chicken in there, so that's why I took the chicken out and didn't eat it all." To which the waitress said “okay”. Not really the desired response. Luckily I didn't get sick (because I took out all the chicken pieces) but I still didn't feel good for the rest of the afternoon. Furthermore, we had to wait a long time for everything, ordering, drinks not being accepted and eventually having to fill the dog's water ourselves in the toilet with a bowl we brought ourselves. All in all, if you have time, I recommend that you definitely have a drink there. I won't be back for lunch.

Sunday evening 1-08-2024 we had another delicious meal at Wander Island! We chose from the “to share” dishes; the scallops, prawn pil pil, soft shell tacos, steak tartare, bread and dip. We drank a bottle of sparkling water and a bottle of rosé cava from Cordoniú. As on previous occasions, we were kindly received by the attentive Mason (!), we sat in a great spot with a beautiful view, all dishes were tasty and beautifully presented. On previous occasions we had coffee in the morning with apple pie, carrot cake and cheesecake. Even then everything was delicious and personal and attentive service. When the weather is nice, you can also enjoy a drink on the benches outside the restaurant! Enjoying the view, the people, the snacks and excellent cocktails and wine list! What a treasure island Wander has created here, I hope it remains such a top place for a long time!

Delicious food, the location is special. Think of it as a luxury beach tent... very cozy and tasteful We did share dining and there is plenty of choice if you go for the bites and starters, the boneless spare ribs are divine, just like the prawns pil pil This is a fantastic place for a pleasant or romantic evening and you will certainly not be disappointed.

Food (spaghetti) was not warm Waitress couldn't take it because we had supposedly already eaten it. Also the prawns lukewarm? Maybe it all has to wait a while before being served, but that's why it's lukewarm and less okay

Friendly welcome where we indicated that we would like to come for lunch. The menu would arrive shortly, and we could order drinks after a few minutes. We did not yet receive the menu with the drinks, and after 20 minutes of trying to get eye contact (it almost looked like this was being avoided), we approached the staff to order 2 sandwiches (I wish I had looked up the menu online in the meantime). . This came quite quickly and tasted good. A bit of a shame about the long wait for service, even though it was quite quiet.

We sat here by chance and had a wonderful time from 12:00 to 19:00. Nice wine and a delicious drinks menu. Regardless of the QR code, the girls at the counter were sweet and helpful. I'll be back.

Hip, fun, hospitable and in a great location! Had a delicious lunch and then sailed to Bon marina.

Lunch was not possible because of it. many reservations, but don't worry, we were able to take a seat on the outside and order from a very extensive drinks menu: well it turned out to be a great lunch: I can recommend flamkuchen, delicious fries, white wine and a somewhat late "Spa". Ideal on a sunny day!

Ended up at this place last week during our holiday by boat. We had a really delicious meal! We had a steak tartare, diamond tenderloin, salad and fries. Portions were on the small side. We had coconut ice cream and toffee emerinque for dessert, delicious! Everything was neat and tidy, toilets spotless, even on a busy evening. They even had a diaper waste bin. Compliments!

Location is amazing, but the food is not great at all. The Bruschetta we ordered came with OLD tomato and avocado salads and was 11 Euros. Makes no sense

Server takes the dessert spoon at the top in her hand. Our food was forgotten, we waited for an hour and had to ask where it was. Management can be sharper and more alert to this. Beautiful atmosphere, service must also be top notch

Lovely place on the water, nice terrace with large parasol, attentive and sweet staff. Price is on the high side for somewhat meager portions without a side dish (which you can order separately). So: meat without any significant vegetables/potatoes or fries, small hamburger on a large bun. Taste is fine!

So we made a reservation on a beautiful summer day, which was wise because it was quite full. Beautiful table with a view over the Vinkeveense Plassen. The menu is complete and diverse. Making a choice was just difficult. The solution is simply to ask the waiter to surprise you. In short, we were served a variety of tasty snacks. Scallops, prawns, steak tartare, diamond tenderloin, in short, a delicious variety of food. Really great. In addition, delicious rosé, pleasant, smooth and cheerful service. A boat dock within walking distance. In short, a big 10, it couldn't be better!

Extremely poor service and lack of respect for paying customers. Order via QR, except for the food that was delivered, 0 human contact. Got up to ask someone about the WiFi, because of an overheated toddler. It seemed like a huge ask and was shouted out as the gentleman walked away. By the way, it didn't seem busy and there were about 3 people waiting there. His colleague, who was just as helpful, couldn't move to write it down. Then our order came, consisting of fries, bread and dips. Without a single napkin in sight. And will someone walk by afterwards to ask if everything is OK? No, that's too much trouble. Except for the excellent view not worth it and very disappointing.

Great location, friendly service and nice atmosphere. In my opinion, the amount of food could be a little more compared to the price and I think that there should be fewer seats available compared to the kitchen. The food wait times were just outside of what was comfortable. 1.5 hours until the main course with 3 small starters after 20 minutes. Hence the service to 3 stars.

What a great place. Especially when the weather is nice, it's even more fun. View is so wonderful. Also very attractive inside. Smooth service and delicious food. Several dishes were chosen and all equally tasty. I wasn't familiar with this ambiance, but I will definitely come back with my partner.

You arrive at 4:00 PM, you explain that you are leaving in 30 minutes, but you are not allowed to sit on an empty terrace, you are only allowed to sit on an outside edge outside the restaurant. What poverty. This is how you lose future customers. The arrogance is not nice.

Bad service, it was very quiet and we couldn't sit where we wanted (at 4:15 PM). Only on the outer edge. There you had to order via the QR code. So you couldn't ask any questions. The drink was put down without even asking/saying anything. Very unfriendly. And partly because of that, it's atmospheric. It's a shame, you could make something fun out of it if you put some effort into it. Nice location.

The hours are misleading. We were turned around at the door an hour and a half before the stated closing time.

We arrived at 10:40 pm to have a drink before bed and were turned away by a waitress who rolled her eyes at us and treated us like we were children. The hours online specify that the restaurant is open until midnight and she rudely said no they are not open when there was a full restaurant. We understand the kitchen may not be open past 10 but don’t understand being turned away for a drink when there are clearly people there.

I would have loved to visit this place during the advertised open hours. Unfortunately though they turned us away when we arrived because they were “closed.” (The restaurant was full and it was 22:20, their website says they close at 00:00.)

We’ve been staying right next to this restaurant for two nights and tried to go twice during opening hours. Turned away both times while the place was still busy and full of customers?? Not sure if it’s because we’re foreigners

Last July 1, we celebrated Stefan's 10th anniversary with you from the De Schans café in Vinkeveen and how... The food was perfect, all small dishes and one even tastier than the other. The service was smooth and guest-oriented. And the location was perfect with a beautiful view. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail. Thank you so much Wonder Island you made the day for us.

Enjoyed it again! They had initially put us at the wrong table, which caused some confusion and we almost received the wrong order, etc. But it was quickly corrected. Beautiful view, the food is great! It's just a pity that the kitchen closes at 9 p.m. On these long evenings I would prefer to do that a little later.

Here you really sit on a fantastic terrace with a beautiful view of the lake. The new parasols complete it completely. This new owner has understood it well, an upgrade in atmosphere and decoration. And even nice and friendly young staff. That alone is worth going there. Nice new menu with share dishes. You just moor your boat and enjoy....

Was there for a few hours today. Looks neat. Good service. Nice atmosphere. You must book in advance if it is warmer than 20 degrees. Otherwise you unfortunately won't have a place.

We came for a cup of coffee and a cup of tea with a cake, we had to wait a very long time. It was just the changing of the guard, maybe it had something to do with that. By the way, apple pie was delicious!

Very nice place on the water, nice terrace. Tasty bruschetta and fries, I thought the rest of the food was fine but nothing special. The meringue pie was frozen, but the waiter said that was how it should be.

This afternoon we unexpectedly ended up at Wanders Island for a quick lunch. Beautiful location, very nice service and excellent food! Ok ok.. the nutbar dessert should have had 1 more scoop of ice cream, that's why I gave it a 9 instead of a 10, but my 110kg at 196cm and round head are of course not without reason 😋😊 Recommended!

Nice place on the water, food also good, just a shame about the service. Waiting half an hour for the drinks (which are ready on a tray) because there are no clean wine glasses. The alarm also went off for a long time and no one had a clue how to turn it off. Lack of leadership?

Lunch is also fine. Was here this Friday with a friend of mine. I ate the hamburger, which was very tasty. My friend went for the salad with fish and it was a feast for the eyes and also for the taste buds. Highly recommended.

Beautiful location with great potential. Coffee was mediocre. Maybe consider updating your website to reflect actual operating hours? Perhaps also train staff to not scoff and roll their eyes when shown that their own website stated they opened at 10:00 instead of the 11:00 they claimed it opened at in the weekends.

We had a great time at the Wander Island Restaurant. The welcome was warm and attentive from the moment we arrived. The presentation of the tables is neat, which adds a touch of elegance to the entire experience. This restaurant is perfect for families, thanks to its many games for children which allow parents to fully enjoy their meal. The staff is welcoming and always ready to help, which contributes to a friendly and pleasant atmosphere. As far as the cuisine is concerned, it is similar to that of a bistronomic restaurant. The dishes are tasty, well presented and made with quality ingredients. A great discovery that we highly recommend!

Food was very good, lots of taste, surprising nice twists such as seasonal vegetables; how to make leeks into a culinary delicacy. It's a shame that one of the various vegetarian burgers was not available on the menu. An alternative to a kimchi burger was good. Service was excellent, nice people and the location is very beautiful All in all we had a very good evening here
