Wicked Wines in Wijk 22 Zeeheldenkwartier

What an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant! I also ate here last year and that was a very good experience. I don't know what went wrong in the meantime, but something is clearly wrong with this restaurant. Both in service and quality.

Having enjoyed visiting Wicked Wines a number of times in the past, we had a really poor experience last night. The service was nearly non-existant, getting menus was a challenge, the food was extremely slow, the table wasn't cleared for a good 20min after we'd finished a course, the waiters knew nothing about the menu nor what was available behind the bar. We would've ordered more (i.e. spent more!) but it was so slow, we couldn't be bothered. What a disappointment! Wicked Wines, please get your act together!

We had a high wine. The small dishes were wonderful and the wine went well with them. They explained they were short staffed when we arrived and profusely apologised that it was a bit chaotic. The chef came to talk to us and was very attentive. He recommended dessert too and it was delicious

What a fiasco! I'm writing this review with somewhat mixed ideas; On the one hand, we were told when ordering that there were many problems (delivery problems with the wines and many personnel problems), but on the other hand, I expected more (especially for the price). When ordering our drinks, it was already mentioned that there were delivery problems, which meant that a large part of the wines were unavailable. This was not a problem, because there were still plenty of wines on the menu. But when ordering the food we were presented with an 'alternative' menu, because there were not enough staff in the kitchen. The dishes on the 'alternative' menu were listed without price and could be "cooked" by one chef. Of the 5 dishes we received, 3 were substandard! This can of course happen and taste is of course subjective. Still, we were amazed when we had to pay. €120 for 5 small dishes and 6 wines. A poor price-quality ratio in my opinion. Yes, I knew there were problems in the kitchen, but no, I did not expect to have to pay an average of €15 for 'small' Sam Sam dishes that were not good. Nothing went wrong when paying, but that was eventually resolved. All in all, a very disappointing dinner for this price.

We had a reservation on January 18 at 7:00 PM but stood in front of a closed door together with other customers?! No information, not notified? Very strange and incomprehensible. Not customer friendly. We still don't know why it was suddenly closed.

We made a reservation for yesterday, Saturday night, got a confirmation and even a reminder. But when we showed up, the place was dark and empty. From a neighboring restaurant we’ve heard multiple people arriving at their place in the past two weeks, after they also ended up at a closed restaurant after making reservations. Please shut down your reservation system or notice people in advance!

Last time we were at Wicked Wines ( some years ago) we really loved the place… Yesterday was a different story. When we entered the restaurant we were seated to a tiny table with very uncomfortable small chairs at the entrance of the restaurant. First of all that is not a dinner table, and second it was very very cold. The waitress was very unfriendly. Not a single smile, she looked very annoyed, personally I would fire her at the spot if i was the owner. When we asked for another table, she literally said : No, we are booked the only other option is at the table over there but yeah that table is still not ready, it has no plates, glasses and etc…. I am like: wtf, it is YOUR JOB to prepare all tables and to serve the customers. Like I said very unfriendly and obviously very unhappy with her job. Never mind we decide to sit at the tiny uncomfortable table and we wait. AND WE WAIT… 10 mins no one brings us anything. No menu, nothing. The waitress was looking at the phone doing all sort of other stuff, like I said FIRE HER! After 10 mins, we just stood up and left as we decided we won’t sped our money at a such non-cosy and unfriendly place. It is a shame, as it used to be a very nice restaurant. So we went to Cafe de Florez, where we were very warm welcomed, the service was outstanding, the atmosphere was cosy and the food was great. You can learn a lot from them. It is a real shame as we will definitely NOT come back at Wicked Wines and tell all of our friends in The Hague about it.

Wij zijn al vaker bij Wicked wines geweest. Altijd goed geweest, maar het is een beetje vergane glorie. Kapotte barkrukken, te jong en onervaren personeel, wijnen die wel op de kaart staan maar die er niet zijn. Jaren geleden kreeg je advies over welke wijn bij welk gerecht. Je kunt het geen wijnbar meer noemen. Het eten was goed.

Really innovative kitchen! Shared dining concept but on a much higher level. Most of the food is an Asian fusion, very tasteful. I only tried one wicked wine which was a quite decent. They have a menu that fits on one side of an A4 which I always see as a good sign. I recommend the Tempura Brocoli (no,really)and the chocolate dessert. It's the first vegan dish in my life that I would re-order on the grounds of simply being just really good food.

Great beautiful place, good staff, the food is very good and the atmosphere is cozy, romantic and you have real privitcy in places, so a really nice top place with great delicious wines & food 😍😍😍

On a Saturday evening in late summer, the small square is well attended. But we were still able to choose a place, the service and the wine (Susumaniello) were perfect. A recommendation.

We were a group of 5 ladies and went to WickedWines for drinks after dinner. The name is iconic and the wines wicked :)! We had a super professional and friendly staff, Weiber attend to us. Don’t know if I got the spelling correct though.

Made a reservation for two for dinner. Got seated in front of the bar with a ridiculously small table, no chairs and having to sit next to each other in a weird sofa. There was at least one empty “normal” table that would’ve been nice to use, so you can look at the person you are talking to instead of the bar. On top of that, a customer came without reservation and got a 4-person table all for himself, apparently is best to come without reservation if you want to have a comfortable dinner.

First of all, I would like to start with the fact that I am very shocked and deeply disappointed after the experience we had yesterday. I have recommended Wicked Wines several times because of the good experiences I have had at this restaurant in the past, but this has completely changed after yesterday. Although the drinks were fine (there can't be much bad about them) I couldn't say the same about the employees. After enjoying the wonderful weather outside for hours and having paid a huge amount of money with 10 others (expats who do not speak Dutch), we are rewarded with a bit of discrimination at the end. It's a shame. Apparently you are not allowed to pay in installments in the Netherlands and this is made very clear as that is "not Dutch" and you should do so in your own country. Unfortunately, she then found out that I was Dutch and could easily explain to her that I don't think this is normal, especially because I am 100% sure that if it was a group of Dutch people there would be no problem whatsoever. It's a shame how a group of international people are treated here. Apart from the final blow of shame, you are apparently not allowed to laugh as it disrupts the employees from their work. I think the clerks have become too lazy to work, become discriminatory and have no sense of customer service. I would strongly advise against it. Although the menu looks tasty and this used to be great, I'm skipping now. Shame.

Nuestra noche especial se arruinó y la imagen encantadora que teníamos con este restaurante cambió! El servicio bajó colina abajo. El personal tenía una fuerte mala actitud y hablar mal a los huéspedes. En primer lugar, tengo que decir que fui unas cuantas veces aquí me gustó mucho la comida y porque trabajé en un gran hotel cerca siempre recomiendo este lugar a diario a todos los huéspedes cuando pidieron grandes sushis cerca, PERO .. el servicio del viernes 23 / 08 y la actitud del personal hacia la gente internacional era realmente malo. Estuvimos allí para nuestra velada de despedida antes de que todos se subieran a bordo y estuvimos allí afuera con 8 de nosotros disfrutando de nuestro tiempo riendo y tuvimos bebidas de calidad la última vez juntos y a mitad de la noche el tipo que cuidó zona exterior ( con moño de pelo ) se nos acercó y nos informó de bajar la voz mientras comparábamos otra mesa y cómo estaban bebiendo y riendo nos dimos cuenta de que estaban alrededor del mismo nivel de volumen de tono esto no es aceptable en absoluto. La cuenta era de 560 € y con esto le informamos a la camarera que nos gustaría pagar por separado ya que ningún restaurante en toda NL nunca tuvo problemas con sin embargo la camarera dijo que no tiene tiempo para ello y en los Países Bajos no es normal pagar separado por lo que una persona debe pagar intentamos discutir esto durante 5 minutos al final acepta que paguemos separados como mi amigo holandés apareció. Después de que la cuenta ha sido saldada ella dijo: "He terminado de hablar con ustedes, chicos, buenas noches adiós" También nos sentimos discriminados por las experiencias de toda la noche, ya que nos trataron de manera desigual en comparación con los huéspedes holandeses a nuestro alrededor. Así que nunca volveremos a este lugar de nuevo y espero que el lugar encuentre un gerente que realmente pueda administrar el lugar y contratar personal que tenga mejor actitud : )

Allereerst wil ik starten met het feit dat ik erg geschokkeerd en diep teleurgesteld ben na de ervaring die wij gisteren hebben mogen meemaken. Meermaals heb ik Wicked Wines aangeraden vanwege de goede ervaringen die ik vroeger bij dit restaurantje heb mogen ervaren, maar dit is na gisteren volledig omgekanteld. Hoewel de drankjes prima waren (kan ook niet heel veel slechts aan zijn) kon ik dit van de medewerkers niet zeggen. Na uren te hebben genoten van het heerlijke weer buiten, een mega bedrag te hebben neergelegd met 10 andere (expats die geen Nederlands spreken), worden we beloond met een toefje discriminatie op het einde. Het is een schande. Blijkbaar mag je in Nederland niet gespreid betalen en wordt dat heel duidelijk gemaakt aangezien dat "niet Nederlands" is en je dat maar lekker in je eigen land moet doen. Helaas kwam ze er toen achter dat ikzelf wel Nederlands was en haar prima kon uitleggen dat ik dit niet normaal vind en al helemaal niet omdat ik 100% zeker weet dat als het een groep Nederlanders was er geen enkel probleem was. Erg jammer hoe hier met een groep internationale wordt omgegaan. Buiten de afsluitende klapper van schaamte mag je blijkbaar ook niet gezellig lachen aangezien dat de medewerkers stoort van hun werk. Volgens mij zijn de bedienden te lui geworden om te werken, discriminerend geworden en hebben ze geen gevoel voor klantvriendelijkheid. Ik zou het afraden ten zeerste. Hoewel het menu er lekker uit ziet en dit vroeger geweldig was, sla ik nu over. Jammer.

Our special night was ruined and the lovely image we had with this restaurant changed! Service went down hill. Staffs had strong bad attitude and speak bad to the guests. First of all, I have to say I went a few times here I liked the food very much and because I worked in a large hotel nearby I always recommend this place daily to all the guests when they asked for great sushis nearby BUT... the service on Friday 23/08 and the attitude of staff towards international people was really bad. We were there for our farewell evening before everyone move aboard and we were there outside with 8 of us enjoying our time laughing and had quality last time drinks together and in the middle of the evening the guy who took care outside area ( with hair bun ) came to us and inform us to lower the voice while we compared other table and how they were drinking and laughing we noticed they were around the same volume level of tone this is not acceptable at all. The bill was 560€ and with this we informed the waitress that we would like to pay separate as no restaurants in the whole NL never had problems with however the waitress said she dont have time for it and in the Netherlands its not normal to pay separated so one person should pay we tried to discuss this for 5 minutes at the end she accept for us to pay separated as my dutch friend showed up. After the bill has been settled she said "I'm done talking to you guys nice evening bye" We will never return to this place again and I hope the place find a manager who can really manage the place :)

We enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Wicked Wines. The dishes were delicious, with a wide choice of vegetarian options. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome all evening. The spacious terrace was the perfect place to dine, with sun until late in the evening, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for those looking for a tasteful and relaxing evening out.

Stopped in for a couple of glasses of wine no reservations, it took a few minutes but they accommodated the 2 of us outside. Service was prompt and the wine was fantastic we had 4 glasses. Would come back again next time we are in town.

Super vriendelijk personeel en mega lekker eten. Alle gerechten hadden heerlijk eten. Het rijst van de sushi kon iets kleveriger maar de smaak was goed. De locatie was super en heel gezellig.

Wonderful place to dine. Super nice location. The food was very tasty. The only tip is to share some dishes as the portions are small. The service was very friendly and helped with the estimate.

Wow! A little diamond in The Hague. Amazing food, You have to try the 'Takoyaki'! Service was outstanding. I didn't get the name of our server but he was attentive, knowledgeable and charming. Would highly recommend!

Really nice, warm atmosphere! Price-quality ratio really very good. Delicious wines and a nice menu with deliciously prepared food to share. Also fun to visit with teenagers. Can also be very romantic ❤️

What a wonderful evening. What did we do? Together with Jack we tasted different wines and had a very nice evening.

The chef has mastered world cuisines, the waiter was charming, and not to forget, the red wine was delicious! We didn't have much time to eat, which was well taken into account.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food in the restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious, staff very nice and friendly, good atmosphere. I would highly recommend visiting this place!

Afterwards, after our dinner experience, we were disappointed that we chose this restaurant. Our friendly and social neighborhood runners did their job well. Start the evening on the terrace and then move inside. Nice shared dining menu but quite pricey in terms of location and ambiance. The first 5 dishes for 3 people were good to eat, unfortunately we immediately noticed that the 16 euro sushi roll was falling apart on all sides. Nevertheless, satisfied because heh, it can happen. 2 round with steak, sushi, salad, chicken bites and fish. Once again a second expensive sushi roll fell apart between the sticks. Pressing a mat is not rocket science and even my grandma who doesn't eat sushi understands that something like this shouldn't fall apart. The garnishes on our steak were tasty but the steak itself was blue rare. Red meat is nice, but I prefer to only see it at the butcher. After a quick question to the supervisor whether this should be the case, the response was: this is probably how it should be. I assume that as a supervisor/long-term employee you know what dishes should look like and certainly whether something is raw or not. Our appetite had disappeared after that moment and we asked for the bill. Fortunately, the very nice runner helped us with our problem and with his tall stature he could see from a distance that our meat was raw. He reported this to his chef/supervisor and this dish was therefore removed from the bill. Fine, but compensation for a likely trip to the toilet was to be expected. €50 is a nose for a nice looking menu, but bad food is a shame and would rather be spent at an all you can eat where sushi rice is not a few days old. These are our experiences and this does not necessarily have to be a precursor to your experience, but in my opinion these types of errors already say enough about quality control in a case.

I expected more from a place that calls itself "Wicked Wines". That name creates expectations, especially of the wine list, but it is so unimaginative and limited. It seemed interesting that other wine was also available in addition to the menu, but that only concerned 1 bottle. The food was fine, beautifully prepared. The service is nice but inexperienced. We didn't get the "wow feeling" that we always get across the street at Bayonne.

I used to come here often and it was really fantastic, now very rude service, food is ok, very dirty toilet, definitely not recommended anymore unfortunately! shame

We had such a delicious meal here! The atmospheric Wicked Wines exceeded our expectations. Don't miss the following dishes: Ceviche Salmon, Steak Tartare, Surf & Turf Roll and the Nasu Roll. How wonderful this was, 10+! This wine bar also serves really nice wine and good specialty beers. We will definitely come back.

My friend and I really enjoyed our evening at Wicked Wines. My birthday felt very special thanks to the super friendly, sweet and knowledgeable lady who helped us, unfortunately I didn't ask her name but we talked about wine training and it was this evening on 26/3. I would like to thank her very much! The food, especially the sushi, was also excellent! Keep it up!

Amazing spot in the Hague - always have fantastic service and great food. The servers we have had are always incredible, offering great recommendations and wine pairings. Dishes themselves are very unique!

We had Tom Yum dumplings in chile oil, duck breast in hoisin sauce (both of them spectacular), pulled pork with ginger, and prawn sushi (both really good). Waiters were lovely and welcoming. Definitely book ahead though!

Super friendly, very friendly to children too, our girls were allowed to color at another table. Also a diverse range of vegetarian dishes, I couldn't really find a suitable vegetarian choice for children, but that might be more to do with my daughter, she had chosen the Chinese vegetarian pancakes and she really didn't like them 🤭... But all in all although we had a great evening here. 1 small point for improvement, perhaps the wardrobe, which is very small and low, more suitable for children's jackets, I hung my jacket over the chair, and then it also hangs on the floor... But otherwise excellent there!

Over het eten kan ik (nog) niets zeggen maar de wijnen daarentegen: subliem. Ik heb 4 soorten wijn mogen proberen en heb heerlijk genoten. Zowel van de wijn als de bediening, die no nonsense willen vertellen over de wijnen, maar ook bij doorvragen, over zichzelf. Een leuk team aan mensen met kennis van zaken in een fijne atmosfeer. Heerlijk om bij Wicked Wines neer te strijken en hospitality te ontvangen die je niet meer gewend bent.

We hebben hier fantastisch lekker gegeten en over het algemeen een zeer gezellige avond beleefd. Ik ben absoluut fan van shared dining en dit hebben ze bij Wicked Wines erg goed gebracht. We waren met 6 en elke schotel was goed te delen (hoewel het per persoon geen grote porties waren natuurlijk), maar hierdoor konden we van elk gerecht even proeven en alles smaakte heerlijk. Ook de sushi was absoluut top! Bestel zeker ook de wicked fries met heerlijke saus en de edamame die tot de beste behoren die ik al gegeten heb. De wijn die erbij geserveerd werd en onze bediening van de avond zorgden mee voor een topavond. Waarom dan geen 5 sterren? De ene ster kan ik helaas niet geven omdat de avond wat in mineur begon. Toen onze reservatie niet gevonden werd en ik de bevestiging op mail toonde (aangezien ik niet via de site maar via mail gereserveerd had), kreeg ik van de gastheer te horen "ai, dat gaat dan niet goed in het systeem ingegeven zijn en het is zaterdagavond en binnen een kwartier zit ik helemaal vol, dus ik kan niets voor jullie doen". Na wat aandringen werd er dan toch met wat tafels geschoven waardoor we toch konden blijven (gelukkig, want enerzijds hadden we de heerlijke gerechten en wijnen niet willen missen en anderzijds is het niet evident om op zaterdagavond met 6 personen een restaurant te vinden zonder reservatie), maar een "sorry", "onze excuses voor het ongemak" of zelfs "kunnen we jullie als compensatie een drankje aanbieden?" waren wel op hun plaats geweest. Nu kon er bij de gastheer zelfs geen simpele "sorry" vanaf en werden we verder door hem genegeerd eens zijn collega's de tafel klaar aan het zetten waren. Dit laatste punt zou absoluut beter moeten. Foutjes kunnen gebeuren, maar als de fout bij het restaurant ligt, moet je er als gastheer voor zorgen dat je gasten zich toch welkom voelen, wat nu niet het geval was. Gelukkig was de rest van de avond top, zodat we dit voorval snel vergeten waren.

I really liked the vast selection of wines at this place. At first, we were a bit confused by the food selection since it had a lot of Japanese (sushi rolls), but they tasted fantastic. The prices are also very reasonable. Can get very packed so a reservation is recommended

Friendly ambiance and lovely terrace. But a fairly limited menu and the quality of the food didn't come close to matching expectations especially given relatively high prices for what is essentially pub fare. Perhaps it's all about the wines here?

Leuk zaak zeg! Mooie, verrassende wijnkaart met veel wijnen op glas, chille bitterballen en een lekker terras. Bediening was heel vriendelijk en vlot. Keep it up! 👍😃

De High Wine is heerlijk. Ik heb echt genoten van de verschillende soorten wijnen en luxe gerechtjes. Het personeel is ook TOP. Een dikke vette 10.

De akoestiek kan wel behoorlijk beter. Best irritant dat je alle tafels bijna letterlijk kan verstaan. Verder redelijk goed.
