Tastiest herring I have eaten in a long time.

Willy is a household name in Haarlem West and H'lem Centrum. Always top quality fish and a cup of coffee. But also a nice chat. The salmon bellies, herring, fish cakes, gourmands and of course the kibbeling are unprecedentedly good. Willy is also a golden person himself. Together with her daughter, she creates a great atmosphere in and around the cozy fish stall. Sit on the beautiful (south-facing) terrace on a sunny day and enjoy the beautiful view of St Bavo's Cathedral or walk around the Theater to admire the facades. Willy has it all. Always a Haarlem Pearl!!!!

I was on the canal boat tour when I spotted Willy's Vis and was curious to see what it served. I walked there the next day and had Vis & Frites (Fish and Chips) all made as fresh as possible. One of the best meals I had on my holiday and had a lovely view of the canal and the Catholic cathedral too. A hidden gem in Haarlem.

Fish & chips, fish was nice and crispy and tasty, fries too, but I'm guessing 80% only small pieces of fries of about 4cm. I don't think that's really eating fries. Mayo and other sauce for the fish are fine, but those fries and then €9....., a shame missed opportunity.

I am traveling from America and wanted to try some traditional food. Both the owner and all the customers were so nice to me and helpful. The sky was a bit cloudy so the owner even gave me an umbrella. The food was also amazing and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend.

What can I say? I arrived as they were closing. They reopened the stuff for me and first time I had the haring they peel infront of me, which I find it extra fresh.

Ik kreeg een rolberoerte voor wat ik moest betalen voor een broodje zalm en een broodje garnalen, 12 euro! Stop er dan wat sla tussen, kappertjes, augurkjes, niets van dit alles! Ook de smaak viel tegen. Voor mij geen volgende keer.

Heerlijke, verse haring. En de gebakken visjes zijn ook zalig. Leuk terrasje er naast waar je lekker in het zonnetje kunt zitten. Aanrader.

A very friendly lady works here. We had fish and chips and it was very tasty. It's really affordable and you can eat outside.

So far the best fish stall in Haarlem. Besides great fish, it's a very cute little stall next to the theater and canal which is great to enjoy the meal outside!

Willy's Vis usually has a long line outside it (it's that good). They serve local fish, cooked or raw, chips and broodjes, along with some interesting pantry items (like sardins in olive oil, sambals, and much more). Whenever they're open, I'll skip other places to come home to Willy's.

Al jaren een begrip in Haarlem. Goede kwaliteit, altijd vers bereid waar je bij staat en bloedje gezellig. Vijf sterren absoluut waard!

Kom er al zolang ze er zit. Beste vis in town leuke mensen en aandacht voor product en klant.

Ik was niet van plan om een recensie te schrijven voor een lunch, maar doe het toch even om een realistisch beeld te geven. Als verslaafde viseter probeer ik zo nu en dan hier en daar wat vis te proberen. Ik heb hier een portie kibbeling en een portie friet gehaald na het lezen van ontzettend veel goede recensies. 8,75 moeten betalen hiervoor. Viel best tegen, maar als het goed smaakt vind ik het vaak niet zo erg. De kibbeling zat echt geen kibbeling smaak aan en er zat ook nog zo’n rare nasmaak aan. Dus dacht ik prima, dan eet ik de frietjes wel op. Maar zelfs deze had een rare nasmaak. Alsof de frietjes in dezelfde olie gebakken zijn als de vis.. Friet kan toch niet zó verkeerd vallen? Het zag er allemaal wel lekker uit, maar toch niet dus. De twee sterren krijgt deze dame echt voor haar vriendelijkheid. Maar daarmee is het echt gezegd. Jammer.

Dat je hier de beste haring krijgt is geen geheim meer. Maar wat je nog niet wist is dat je hier absoluut de beste inktvisringen ter wereld kan vinden. Werkelijk waar van Thailand tot de Spaanse costa's en tot de Cariben en terug. Ik ben overal geweest, heb ze overal gegeten, maar bij Willy's zijn ze het beste...!
