Dec 2025: To be fair, the fries are delicious. At least, that was the case last time. Now I left the restaurant empty-handed. The reason: the staff completely ignores you. They don't look at you, and the employee walks past you three times without any discernible awareness of your presence. I know you're here for the delicious fries, not for an uplifting and positive conversation. But, I think some kind of hospitality is nice. Look people in the eye and say, for example, "I'll be right with you." Simple, right? Feb & Oct 2025: These are what we call "detour fries." Really delicious, homemade, fresh fries. We're from the Achterhoek region and, of course, the beach, and these delicious fresh fries are another reason for us to go to the beach in Callantsoog and end the day at Wip-In.

I actually go there specifically for the homemade fries. I take them with me and eat them later. Unfortunately, the fries aren't tasty again; they seem to have been fried twice, and they're no longer the quality I came for before. Also, the fries were very greasy at some places; they weren't fresh, so they were hard. ...too bad.

You have to sit at one table with others, they better stick to fries

Just ate here, definitely not recommended. You're sitting at a table with several people. Order your hamburger without vegetables... you get it with vegetables... then they just take the lettuce off and serve it back to you.

Delicious fries and a perfect selection of sauces. The vegetarian snacks are also tasty, and so is the kibbeling. Plus, the portions are nice and big. We'll definitely be back!

We’ve had fries at Wip In in Callantsoog several times and they are consistently excellent. The staff speak multiple languages and are always friendly. The atmosphere is simple and no-frills, but that’s exactly what you expect and want from a classic snack bar: straightforward, casual and easy. The fries are perfectly crispy and well-seasoned and you can enjoy them right there in the iconic pointed paper cone, or take them to go in a paper bag for a walk by the beach. Portions are generous and the quality is always spot on. It’s a great, reliable place for really good fries whenever you’re in Callantsoog. Would definitely recommend!

I got fries and kibbeling tonight. The fries were excellent. The kibbeling was excellent if you like thin pieces of fish with minimal seasoning and quite limp.

We had our first cheeseburger there and thought it was good. We were already familiar with the fries, and they're always fresh.

If you like fries, this is the place for you. The burgers are attractively priced, but there's still room for improvement in terms of taste. The various sauces for the fries are interesting.

When you order takeout for €32.50, you should be able to rely on the order being executed correctly and the quality being up to scratch. Vanilla milk instead of strawberry milk, fries that taste like fish, a special Frikandel with a thimbleful of "special." A cheeseburger with a chemical aftertaste. I'm actually used to better things from wip. It's a shame, it used to be pretty good.

The three of us as a family ate there three times during our vacation. The star dish is definitely the fries. I could eat them every day. Although we found that one large fries was enough for the three of us. The size M on the menu was much too big, because cold fries just don't taste good. The burgers are okay, but we're just spoiled. The kibbeling were delicious with the garlic sauce. Unfortunately, there are no restrooms and only outdoor seating. The weather wasn't a problem for us. Highly recommended! When we come back, we'll definitely go for fries and kibbeling.

We're here on vacation... a disaster... the fries were rock hard... overcooked... not recommended!!!!! Unfortunately, only 1 star 🌟 normally 0, sorry... but you pay a lot of money for nothing... what a shame... normally you'd have to get a replacement or a voucher!

The fries, which were actually good, were too soft. The bottom 4 centimeters of the cone were just hard bits. This is probably because they were scooped from a drip tray. Fresh fries, which they claim to sell, are no longer fresh. There wasn't enough sauce (ketchup), and I even held back on the fries, which were somewhat edible. Eating from a cone is actually completely impossible because it's almost inevitable that every last bit of fries will be eaten. It looks great, but it's completely impractical! If you want a decent fork, order a frikandel speciaal (special frikadel) with it... those wooden forks are a disaster... I was offered a new bag of fries, but I'm not looking forward to a rerun of a bad product. The only positive thing I can mention are the drilled holes in the benches where you can place the fries bag.

They take orders quickly and efficiently, with almost no waiting, despite the crowds. Respect for the staff, who remain friendly. I think when they get home, they'll just plop down and be completely full. And the products are excellent. Fresh and crispy. Yes, the prices are a bit steep, but I completely understand. They're still open late, and that requires a lot of staff. Kudos to the business, definitely recommended. An Amsterdammer.

The fries taste good. I especially like the fact that they served a vegetable croquette. Fries are served in a "zakje," the obligatory fries bag. You place your order at the counter, get a "buzzer," and when it buzzes, you pick up your order at the counter. You can sit outside on wooden benches.

Whenever we're here, a visit to Wip-In is a must. The food is truly delicious, and even when it's very busy, the wait time is perfectly acceptable.

Went back after a while, but the fries aren't what they used to be. All the hard pieces were overcooked. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture. But I definitely don't recommend it anymore (too bad). The noodle patty was still cold inside. The frikadelles were too soft. The chicken nuggets were too hard. The fries were hard. They've gotten very expensive.

The large fries are enough to feed a whole family! The sauces (Joppie, Orloog) are delicious. Otherwise, we received friendly and quick service and would definitely come back.

Just got some fries and a Coke. 8:15, that's no joke. Lots of hard, small pieces of fries. I had to pick out the right ones. The rest were for the seagulls, and there are plenty of them. Not recommended.

Picked up a takeout order with two medium fries. When we got home, we only had a small bag of fries, barely half full, and they were like children's fries. Where you normally order medium fries and eat them here, you get them in a cone and you get a whole lot... A scam for €3.75.

If you fancy a typical Dutch snack, this is the place for you...large selection and very tasty.

Unfortunately, the kibbeling had been in the fryer for too long. A ton of things were forgotten on the menu, including the drinks. There was hardly any salt on the fries, although they were tasty. The tartar sauce was super delicious. The service was incredibly unfriendly and overwhelmed, and there were leftovers everywhere in the shop. Definitely not a recommendation.

Yes, the vegetarian bamischijf is completely plant-based. So actually vegan. We want more!

I come from the humble little house of Amsterdam. I came here for freedom and fun. I was with 2 of my friends and we thought let's eat here. Where we quickly found out there is a comedian behind the counter. First like a true lion I asked for 2 frikandel combi deals and a burger meal where my friend asked for curry on his frikandel and I wanted patstje mayo, and my friend wanted the curry to come from India. Then he looked at us very surprised and asked "is that right?" But the screen was off that was a laugh. Then we waited for the food it came super fast. Where my fries mayo was more delicious mayo with fries. And the curry of the frikandel was put on the fries. When we were enjoying our meal we found out that crows like sandwiches since he took the whole sandwich in a blink of an eye. For the rest the food was delicious and I had a good laugh with my food

We used to come here especially for the fries, because they were really delicious, crispy, fresh and perfectly cooked. Unfortunately, we have noticed that the quality has gone down lately. Instead of the well-known tasty fries, we now often get fried pieces that no longer have the taste and structure of the past. A real shame, because this was always a reason for us to come here especially. Hopefully the old quality will return!

Great little spot that's literally open just about every day. Fancied a burger and chips, managed to order online and pickup within 15 minutes, which is very handy indeed. Chips weren't really seasoned and weren't anything special, but they were hot and the portion generous. Although the burger I had was a Dutch grill burger, not quite as nice as a classic patty, it was well-assembled and freshly made, and was satisfying. Considering the price, it's a good deal for a snack, and the staff were very friendly. Would be very happy to come again and try more menu items!

Here you can get the crispiest fries and the tastiest kibbeling in Callantsoog. The service is friendly and the preparation is quick. You get an electronic beeper that vibrates when the order is ready for pickup. You can sit outside very nicely on the promenade.

The fries are good to eat, but the kibbeling went straight into the bin (tasteless and greasy)

The fries were good, but for my personal taste I would have liked more salt and less fat. The vegetable burger was interesting and tasted almost like a spring roll - not what I expected but good. I thought the birds lurking around the fries were cute, but others might not like them hopping around you - of course it's not the shop's fault.

Friendly people who recognised me after 3 takeaways. And the frietsjes did not survive the trip back home. Also the chicken burger is out of this world, never have I tried a chicken burger this good. And they are cheaper than the mcdonalds.

I've been there many times in the past thirty years. Was one of the best places for the best tasting fries. I'm convinced it's under new management. Because the fries when I went there December 2024 were gross with a very mealy taste. Service was also nonchalant. We asked for flat trays. But got the puntzakken. Had to wait longer than usual for service as well.
