Yip's Café and Bowling in Wijk 02 Noord

The last time I was in this building was in 1989, when it was still discotheque Regina. When I stepped back inside now, I returned to that time; with the exception that a few bars, the DJ corner, and the dance floor had disappeared, it felt like little else had changed. There was still one bar left, the toilets were still the same, the same paneling was still on the wall; for a moment, I went back to good old days. But the present was unfortunately different. We had booked a bowling lane for two hours; after an hour, the lane stopped working, apparently only set for one hour. We ordered drinks at the bar, and after a while, we asked where our order was. Since it wasn't exactly busy (there were about 15 customers present), this could have been done faster. But the staff apparently considered the phone more important than preparing an order. The order for bar snacks also took a long time to arrive; we asked about that again, and 45 minutes later, it finally arrived. In short, it was not an invitation to go back here again.

Everything is dated. You have to watch where you walk. Friendly young staff.

Went to Yips 2.0 yesterday. A terrible experience!! We were barbecuing and splashing water right in the middle of the mess. The staff were not quick or friendly. The toilets are too filthy to even look at, let alone use; the smell of sewage hits you as soon as you enter. The bowling alley is old, and the TV didn't work either (and I don't think they're going to replace it). Let's not even talk about the karaoke booth; it was a stuffy, small room (looked like a pantry) that could give you a heatstroke. No drinks are offered, and you have to go get them yourself every time. Let's not even talk about the price-quality ratio; you can shell out a lot for a night at Yips. Not for us again!!!

I went last Saturday. Ordered one plate of snacks; after asking many times where it was, it finally arrived after well over an hour, and frozen inside to boot. So I went back with it again; eventually, we had a plate of snacks after 1 hour and 37 minutes. Every round of drinks took more than half an hour. After complaining at the bar a few times, you are told: "Yeah, the receipts end up at an unmanned bar, so too bad..." Yips used to be very good and cozy. But there is a lot of overdue maintenance. The staff could be a bit friendlier. The toilets were very dirty and old. Afterwards, I received an email asking what I thought of my evening; I politely explained my story. But so far, I haven't received a response. I hope Yips does something about this. I can't make it any better than 2 stars right now.

A very nice bowling alley, but it is a shame that there are too few cues at the pool tables, and a number of them were broken.

Had a nice evening at Yip's. First time here. A real pub atmosphere, I think mainly for young people, and you either like that or you don't. We liked it. The pool area, the pub, and the other activities are in different rooms, so you don't "bother" each other. Very friendly owner and very helpful. Our table was still occupied upon arrival, but we were allowed to use another table, fifteen minutes earlier than scheduled, but we didn't have to stop sooner. Is it modernly furnished? No Could it use some updating? Yes Are there many specialty beers? Absolutely Is it cozy? Yup Small tip: an instruction manual for first-time visitors would be practical.

It was a dirty old mess with unfriendly staff; they don't even look at you when you walk in. The staff are drinking with the guests, and there is no place for children, yuck.

We booked an unlimited table barbecue via Social Deal, and that was a good choice! The food was delicious and there was more than enough. The staff was very friendly and attentive. He came by regularly to check if everything was to our liking and if he could do anything else for us. All in all, a very pleasant experience and definitely worth repeating!

I am waiting 2 hours for my pizzas. Lane 4 is full of bumps. And my margarita had salami on it.

Sunday BBQ with Social Deal, BBQ is ready, unlimited meat, sauces good, only you have to ask for everything and the service is disorganized, and you sit outside under the tent and it's messy and not tidy there too, to pay you also have to drag someone out of the main kitchen to ask to pay 🤭🫣

Drinks simply take almost 45 minutes to actually arrive after asking three times. This is already the second time this has happened. Not recommended…

Very friendly people and nothing is a problem. So easy to celebrate something here; the kids entertain themselves perfectly with bowling, a snack, a drink, a good time, and that's it. You come home afterwards to a nice, tidy house! 😉

Visited here for the first time on March 8th with my parents and little brother to celebrate our father's birthday. Small and cozy, and friendly staff. We will definitely come back again.

We came to play billiards. The table was dirty, lopsided, and difficult to play.

Unfortunately, we had a less than pleasant experience upon arrival. We didn't receive a particularly friendly or welcoming welcome. The staff seemed preoccupied with each other and paid less attention to the customers. We found this a real shame, especially since we never had any problems under the previous owner and were always satisfied. We also found the snack portions on the menu very small in relation to the price. Frankly, that disappointed us. We also rented a bowling alley. It was reasonable, but the service left much to be desired. For drinks, we had to find a staff member ourselves or ask for them, as there wasn't always someone at the bar. The interior also looks a bit outdated, which unfortunately didn't improve the overall experience. All in all, this wasn't a positive experience for us, and we probably won't return. It's a shame, as we've had better experiences here in the past.

Made a reservation by phone at 9:30 PM. Upon arrival, the reservation was unknown.

We weren't greeted upon arrival. We had to chase everything ourselves. We had to ask where our bowling shoes were, even call a staff member to point us to the right lane. We weren't offered any drinks, and the atmosphere was very dull. They're more focused on each other than the customers. Definitely not recommended!!! A few years ago, it was 1000x better. Don't waste your money on this place.

I booked a bowling hour from 3 to 4 pm through a new promotion at Social Deal, but after we arrived, nothing was known. Two waitresses had to check and inquire, and I had an email confirmation. After half an hour of bowling, a waitress came to say that other people were visible in their system... So... Literally what she said, I said, "So?" I have a confirmation email and there's nothing I can do about it. "Yes," she said, "but these people will have priority because they booked through our own website." I said, "Okay, but you applied for the Social Deal deal yourself to get people in, right?" Yes, but my manager said those other people would have priority. Okay, I got a drink on the house. We had already ordered upon arrival, so we didn't pay for it in the end. It was 3:30 pm. When I left, the manager said, "I have a job at 5 pm." We were from Enschede, and Yips is in Hengelo, about a 15-20 minute drive. So, not an option. The manager tried to resolve it, but honestly, the waitress's attitude, which said "so...", really rubbed me the wrong way. Luckily, through Social Deal, they responded within a day and were able to arrange a refund. They then asked if we wanted to come back another time. No, thank you.

Cozy. Easy to book. Friendly staff. Restrooms are outdated. Overall atmosphere: bar with beer tap at the front. Bowling alley at the back. Bonus... the Jumbo supermarket is right next door, which is convenient.

The bowling alley was constantly malfunctioning. The appetizer platter was fried too long and served empty. The bill was incorrect, it was chaotic, and the staff had no idea what they were doing.

good reception on arrival, the stamppot buffet was very tasty and there was more than enough, extra ice cream was obtained for someone with an allergy for the children there was room to play various games, building was well organised and if you added drinks to the package then that was more than enough all in all we had a successful afternoon also on behalf of the guests of ours who were there

The place is very poorly maintained. It's primarily a pub that also offers bowling. The floor was dirty and sticky, covered in glass. The balls weren't round; you could tell they were being thrown around the lane. The staff is okay, but not friendly or cheerful.

Extremely poor service. We made a reservation two hours in advance, but when we arrived, we were told the bowling alley was out of order. The place looked neglected. As compensation, we were given a voucher for the amount we paid. I'm not going to use this, because after this experience, I won't be returning to this place.

The two of us did the City Quest Hengelo. It's a kind of outdoor escape room where you have to solve puzzles throughout the city to protect the world from a dangerous virus. It was a really fun experience!

This old café with a bowling alley and billiard/pool tables is in dire need of a makeover. The staff are friendly and easy to talk to.

We had a great afternoon at Yip’s Café in Hengelo thanks to their karaoke experience! We found a great deal through Social Deal and it exceeded all our expectations. The private karaoke room was beautiful and clean, with good equipment and a cozy atmosphere. What really made this experience special were the super friendly and helpful staff. They really thought along with us and made sure everything went smoothly. The owner was incredibly hospitable and involved – we really felt welcome. Really top service and highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience a fun, musical evening. We will definitely be back!

We have now eaten here for the 2nd time in a short time. Sometimes plate service and other times a buffet. We were very satisfied with both. The ice cream buffet even with fireworks! The setting is simple and relaxing. Bowling a bit, playing games. Perfect with children.

Last Saturday Boermarke from Enschede celebrated her staff party at Yip's. We were received very hospitably and a separate room was reserved for us. After a delicious hot and cold buffet, the group went bowling and enjoyed a nice karaoke in a separate room. Everything was well organised. Thank you, Dennis!

Did the escape room tonight. Already played several, but this one is errruuuggg fun. We enjoyed it and were finally free again. Spacious and a beautiful space to play this game. TOP done.

I went to yips2.0 with some friends to have a drink. Unfortunately, we were immediately confused about where to go for the pool. We were sent from one bar to another. Once we could start pooling, we quickly discovered that the placement of the tables had not been thought through. We had a table with barely 1 meter of space against a wall, so you literally couldn't touch the balls. There was also an exit in that small space where people were constantly walking past. We saw that another table had become available, so we continued there, but it was also impossible to play comfortably there. Too close to the other tables and a server kept running past us. Not recommended that's for sure.

The track no longer works very well and is a bit outdated

Bowling alleys are a joke, they are terribly crooked and you can hardly throw a decent ball. But OK... What is really bad and unpleasant is the condition of the toilets. A little investment would not be superfluous. Yip's 2.0 is quite dated, but the prices are not. It's time for a little balance

We came here with a group to bowl. We had rented 2 courts, which were next to each other, which was nice. Unfortunately, the bowling alley was a sad intention. Few bowling shoes available. In addition, both jobs did not work well. When throwing a strike or a spare, it was not registered properly. On the other side, someone still had to throw and turn pins and all. Nice for recreational purposes, but competition is very difficult here, due to the poor scoring. (And not enough foam on the beer)

Nice place to visit with friends. You can do a bunch of things here, for example drink, eat, bowling, pooling, playing darts and socialise i suppose. Might be a good place to go on a date as well.

been twice in a row. was a lot of fun. I thought the price was a bit high that an hour of bowling is €27.5, but I looked it up and saw that bowling is expensive everywhere. :/

Worst bowling alley.. why?? Because they don't even know their own menu, they don't know their own site, they come with 5 flames (snacks) instead of 8 as indicated on the menu card, they are not aware of the arrangement of their own site, they did half a It takes an hour to bring 2 beers! The baguette was not cooked properly! The smoked sausage rolls are more sour than jawbreakers, and you pay a lot of money for them... and lastly the fries had wings because they flew off the plate when they put them down. I don't recommend this gang, it's a lot of money for crap. Shame!

Still a somewhat outdated bowling alley, service and conviviality are fortunately present.

We did an escape room with 6 people and we had an incredible time! The puzzles were tricky but doable and they had a lot of fun variations in how the room works. You could tell that a lot of attention had been paid to it. Compared to other escape rooms, I really thought this one was the very best so far. In addition to the escape room, we also played pool and played games. You can really enjoy yourself here all evening long.

Celebrated 50th birthday party today. Barbeque was delicious and more than sufficient. Bowling and karaoke, everyone could do what they wanted. Nice place to sit outside, nice music. We all enjoyed it together.

Great place for informal darts, billiards and/or bowling. While enjoying a good beer selection, time flies and the party is over in no time.

Rating based on 2 visits in the last 3 months. The first visit in 2024 did not end on a pleasant note. We were 8 people and had reserved and paid for 2 pool tables online, but had to stop early. A pool table was double booked and we therefore had to stop at one table. Then we stopped altogether. The second visit was also not a success, but it was cheap. We had to pay €10 for 1.5 hours of snooker. Unfortunately, no service came by to take drinks. We fancied something to drink and appetizers, but had nothing. There was also karaoke going on to our right (from the snooker table) and another music list playing to our left. Not very pleasant. NB!: We were also told that the snooker table is being removed, so you can no longer play snooker here.

Nice staff, but it stinks and the toilets are dirty

The food was very dirty, not cooked well, but after the time I felt very bad and the rest I went with also had to stay home for days, could not move, suffered from nausea and other things so much, I definitely do not recommend this and I will never go here this is more bad! Ate here on Boxing Day with the family. Group of about 30 people. Was perfectly arranged. Food looked good. Then bowling with the whole club. This was also successful. Nice tent and well organised, good work knowing that the owner has had it for less than a year. Keep it up. We will definitely come again. Thank you for this successful day!

The 8 of us went bowling here. The tracks are crooked and there are all kinds of dents in them. The lighting at runway 4 was broken. Which made bowling difficult. It's the dirtiest place I've seen in years! There were still fries from the previous day on the chairs? There was even cigarette ash on the ground. It was just really dirty. Everywhere you looked you saw something dirty. So we walked on to the city. It's definitely not worth your money. There are better jobs. And cleaner starting points

For years we have been going bowling with the family at Yip on my father's birthday. This is also the case on November 12th. He reserves a job months in advance to make sure nothing can go wrong. We all got there on time and already got the impression that it was very busy. And yes, all lanes were occupied. The owner was called but could do nothing for us. He indicated that they had done something wrong when transferring the bookings. Too bad. There you are as a 93 year old, who also comes to play billiards with a friend every fortnight, very sad.🤔 We think this is a very bad thing. What is also a shame is that there is a punching ball machine right behind the bowling alley. It's nice if you sit there. 😒 By the way, this had never happened with Yip!!

Had a nice time with the locals doing burgers and bowling. Nice service and nice atmosphere. Food was tasty and plenty of it. The fries in particular were super tasty.

Fantastic location if you want to participate in various activities with groups / classes, such as darts, pool and bowling. Several dart boards and pool tables available. Cosy, good location for various activities

We were here for Christmas with the whole family. We started in the cafe with some drinks :P The kids were busy with different activities such as table tennis, car racing, shuffleboard and they have a Pool table for kids! How nice is that! We then had a delicious meal. And after dinner it was time to go bowling. It was a super successful evening! Thank you friendly top team!

Voor het eerst weer geweest sinds het yips 2.0 heet,maar....wat een teleurstelling, het lijkt wel een studentensoos,personeel is meer bezig met hun telefoon dan met klanten,tenzij je het personeel kent,dan krijg je wel aandacht.keu's krom,tafels niet waterpas.... het ziet er armoedig uit en echt geen aanrader.er is wel wel 1 voordeel....de drank is er goedkooo

We hadden een gezellig groepsuitje met 16 personen. We werden zeer gastvrij ontvangen met koffie/ thee. Daarna gebowld, Vervolgens heerlijk gegeten. Personeel zeer vriendelijk en dacht goed mee, we hebben een zeer leuke avond gehad. Bedankt Yip's.

Hier kun je teminste nog fatsoenlijk een biertje drinken zonder een hartverzakking te krijgen van de rekening. Zo zou het overal moeten zijn.

Gisteren mijn verjaardagsfeestje gevierd bij Yip's. Voordat we een ritje gingen maken met een oude bus door Twente werden we eerst ontvangen met koffie en gebak. Na het ritje hebben we lekker geborreld met hapjes. Het was geweldig goed geregeld en het kan zeker aanraden! Yip's nogmaals dank.

Met mijn dochtertje een hele fijne bowling ervaring gehad. Personeel heel erg vriendelijk en de sfeer was top!!

Met een personeelsfeest bij Yip's 2.0 geweest. Goede sfeer, gezellig personeel en het is lang geleden dat ik zo'n heerlijk warm en koud buffet heb gehad. Alles tot in de puntjes verzorgt. En dat voor een zeer schappelijke prijs. Wij komen graag nog eens terug!

Afgelopen zaterdag hebben we een erg leuk arrangement voor een vrijgezellendag gehad. 6 uur lang heerlijk kunnen eten/ drinken/ poolen/ darten en bowlen. Dat alles met zeer vriendelijk personeel :). Zeker een aanradar voor deze feesten!
