Fantastic ramen. The line in front of the shop isn't moving very fast, and you can't make reservations online. I had to wait 40 minutes on my own, and there was a group of four ahead of me who waited over an hour. Besides the wait time, the service is very friendly and welcoming. They make fantastically delicious food. Definitely go here if you love ramen.

Yokohama Ramen Saito is one of my favorite ramen restaurants in the Netherlands. The Tonkotsu ramen is fantastic, and in my opinion, it's on par with the ramen I've had in Japan. The gyoza is also very good. Paid parking has recently become available on the street, but there's still free parking just past the subway station. If you're ready just before 5:00, you can go right in; after that, you'll probably have to wait about fifteen minutes.

Best Japanese noodles in Netherlands

I had a ramen that was supposed to be dipped, and it was quite flavorful. The tantanmen, however, wasn't very spicy and lacked depth. Good value for money.

I have visited many places in Europe and here they make the best miso ramen in Europe, it is exquisite, not greasy, the pork is first class and the broth is thick and delicious, the quantities of food are quite generous, my family and I are delighted if you go to Holland this is a must visit you will not regret it

At Saito Yokohama Ramen, ramen eating is elevated to a small ceremony. Their signature dish, Tonkotsu Ramen, is a masterpiece prepared with love and skill. The best Japanese ramen joint in the Netherlands is definitely worth the hype. Expect to wait in long queues, but it is absolutely worth it once you dig in to your bowl. My favorite is the Shio Ramen (salt-based), where you can really taste and appreciate the soup's delicate flavors. It’s worth making the trip to Schiedam just to try this ramen.

The soup was full of ginger and garlic. Not feeling well? Ask for this soup it will definitely give you a boost! Not my everyday soup, but perfect for a low immune system.

We love it! I feel like I am in Japan 😁 I ate the ramen op! Even de soup! And they have this special greeting when you can eat everything and drink the soup! For the price you paid you got a huge bowl and lots of noodle. Worth it!

Fantastic ramen, super delicious! We were 4 people. We came 15 minutes before opening (16:45) and weren't waiting in the line. Of course, after five, the line built up quickly.

I really don't want to talk negative about this restaurant, because I do think the people who own this place are doing their best, but there a number of thing they haven't prioritized over the years, which I think they should, if they want to get better ratings. First of all, the atmosphere. Normally I don't really care about the atmosphere, I just care about whether the food is good, but in here it sort of does impact the food experience. It's really damp in here, because of the cooking of broth of course, but something needs to be done about the ventilation. They have fans, but the back-sides are clogged with dust and what seems to be like spider-webs (it would only take 10 seconds to wipe that off!). The place is very crowded, it's stacked with big bags of flour on the floor, on the place where customers are supposed to stand in line in order to be served. The menu is one piece of laminated paper, it's improved from what it was before, but still very far from a somewhat decent menu, both the paper itself, as well as what's written on it. Please add a few more descriptions or pics, or what's in the bowl of ramen. The chopsticks are single-use and they're much too short and thin to decently eat with these. Is it so much trouble to wash reusable and better quality chopsticks? As for the most important part, the food. The broth was good. It was thick and gooey, in a good way, which means there's lots of collagen in it, but the taste didn't stand out. It's good enough though if it were complemented with good hand-made ramen, but this was not as I hoped or expected. My guess is they've changed their manufacturing process. The springy and chewy texture was not present, unfortunately, the most important part about ramen. As for the pork char siu on top, they still have a long way to go there. It was dry, not tender, not fat, tasteless. I couldn't tell whether the pork was marinated or not. Char siu should either be pork belly (which is fatty) or pork shoulder but simmered long enough to become soft. In this case it was the shoulder they served, but it wasn't tender yet. Yes, there were a few parts with fat (if you're lucky you'll get these), but most of it was not. As for the ajitama egg—also one of the things I look forward to most—this was a slight disappointment. You can see on the picture the yolk was partially well-done, it wasn't cut cleanly (you can see the egg white is sort of broken) and (I'm being very picky here) it should've been marinated a bit longer (the sauce had not seeped to the inside enough) and stirred better so the yolk would've been more in the middle. As for service, the lady at the counter was very friendly. Nothing to complain about that, but there wasn't much service other than that. It's like a McDonald's where one waits in line and orders at the cashier, gets one's drink himself from the fridge, but has to pay at the cashier at the end again (but wait again in order to pay). That's a logistic problem right there, which is easy to solve. Please also allow for debit card payments. At least they allow cards, which is better than a few years before, when they only accepted cash, but even today they still don't accept Debit cards, even though that's the current standard and requirement for all banks. Maestro is end-of-life and banks only give out Debit cards now!

The best ramen I ever ate! People who work there, cook with heart. You can even collect stamps to get your 10th ramen for free. I will be back in this place many times!

Staff is excellent does their very best. A small restaurant, so sometimes you have to wait a while. The vegetarian option is not worth the price to be honest. The noodles themselves are tasty and authentic, but they really should put more Japanese vegetables in them. In Rotterdam you have more vegetarian options and they are a lot tastier.

Waiting in line like in Japan. Had shoyu tonkotsu. Soup has little other taste than pork, rather runny/transparent instead of creamy. Needs extra spice/pepper/salt/love. Shoulder chashu, soft but a bit fibrous (too short at too high a temperature?). Chewy home made noodles. Egg could have been marinated longer. Many Asians, unfortunately no Japanese spoken :( I have the impression that corners are being cut here and there (soup or chashu cooked too short, egg not marinated long enough, ...), the business is suffering from its success.

Few years backs used to have great ramen. Unfortunately the char siu was dry. The tonkotsu soup base was also very watered down, very bland. The noodles were good, chewy. It s not authenic japanese ramen anymore. So, this place is only a hype now. I will not eat here again.

The freshest ramen you can get in the region! The broth tastes so amazing, salty, but just right and what you'd expect from miso soup! I had the tsukemen this time and absolutely loved it, you can also try the pure ramen flavour like this! So bouncy and flavourful. Staff is also amazingly friendly and the ambience is very cozy! This place is an absolute recommendation. Would come here whenever I could (they even do take away!). 11/10 heerlie de peerlie!!

We took the signature soy ramen. Good broth, the noodles were firm and the ingredients fresh. The char siu was seared gently, with very generous portions and very tasty, see photo's. Atmosphere just like in Japan and the owner is welcoming. Recommended.

It is basic, nothing special, out of ordinary. However, its good, not wow good, but no joke good. Basically they take 1 flavor and make the best out of it. We came early and secure a spot for us immediately, but waiting time is long. If i have to choose, Hinoki is still my favorite with Black garlic ramen.

Japanese style and ambience. Not much variety which keeps the quality high, on the table you have many additions (sesame seeds,shallots, chilly flakes/oil, hot sauce etc) to add on to your ramen. It can get really busy so once you are done eating you need to give your space to the next ones. Also have frozen options to cook at home.

Hands down the best ramen you can get in NL. The staff is friendly and hard working. I loved the music as well. Do be aware of the queue: I got there at 7pm and it took me about 45 minutes to get seated. At 8.30pm the queue was gone.

Last week I finally had the chance to eat here. To be on the safe side, we went to the store at 4:30 PM (they have chairs outside in case there is a line). The owner greeted us and a while later we were brought in to place our order (you can't just walk in and sit somewhere). The restaurant is not large, but its character radiates. The cuisine is beautiful and authentic. The ramen, in my case Miso Tonkotsu was delicious. The noodles are the best I've had in the Netherlands and the taste of the soup is rich but not overpowering. The side dishes were also great.

Top quality ramen that is on par with a good bowl from Japan. It is therefore not without reason that there is often a queue here. The broth has a wonderfully complex flavor, the egg is well soft-boiled and the ramen noodles have a good bite and texture.

The place is very small, which means waiting to be seated. But it's worth it. Top ramen. Gyozo the best I've ever eaten. Very nice service. Great atmosphere, people working there have a great time and are smiling. Free hot tea after waiting to be seated is a huge plus, nice gesture. We will come back here <3

After hearing and reading so much about this small “fast food” restaurant in Schiedam, I finally was able to satisfy my curiosity. I label this restaurant as a fast food place because you are expected not to stay longer than necessary because there are other guests waiting. This makes eating a bit hectic in my opinion. The service is friendly and hospitable, but the space where it all happens is a bit scruffy and looks more like a soup kitchen. Too bad! And then of course the food, after all, this is why we traveled to DT Schiedam. I honestly don’t get the hype. The ramen were fine but the broth was mediocre / disappointing. After seasoning it with the available herbs, it wasn’t a wasted evening after all. Whether I will come back for a second round …. well, can I think about this for a moment?!

It's the best, most authentic Japanese ramen I have tried in NL. Update: We've been going here for close to three years and still the best ramen in NL. We went last night directly from work, and of course there was a queue, but was still worth it. We also buy frozen ramen when we eat there, so we can have delicious ramen at home when the craving hits.

I came here during my trip to the Netherlands and this had to be the best ramen I ever had in my life it was amazing down to the soup,noodles,and the meat was delicious. 10/10 recommend

We were visiting from the East Coast of the USA. Friends took us here and yes it's quite a small place and there was a wait. Me personally I'm not a huge ramen guy, but my son loves ramen and he ate half of my bowl as well. Every time we mention ramen he drools over this place. He said it's the best he ever had. Forgot to mention while you waiting outside there are some beautiful windmills you can admire.

Seven years in, and Yokohama Ramen Saito is still my top choice for ramen. My recent Soy Tonkotsu bowl was everything I love: the broth had that signature depth but now more velvety than I remember and the chashu was melt-in-your-mouth tender. They’ve clearly upped their game! The restaurant itself has had a bit of a glow-up, with a fresh renovation and a more open kitchen layout, which makes the ramen experience feel a little closer to home. And as one of the nearby windmills actually grinds flour for the noodles. Imagine it: my bowl of ramen, powered by wind energy. Every slurp feels like a nod to sustainability, a gust of fresh flavor brought to you by Dutch engineering. So next time you’re craving noodles, stop by for a taste of their eco-friendly noodles and then stroll over to the windmills for the full ramen-and-mill experience.

The best a little crowded but worth it

Not that most locals- or Dutch people in general- know or care, but this is the real deal. Proper ramen from a proper Japanese person (most ramen and other Japanese restaurants in the NL are Chinese-owned and serve pan-Asian fare or dishes accommodating the local palates). Now I don’t need to travel to London or Düsseldorf so much. Bravo! Ed. Quality has slipped since I last reviewed it. Sinking to Dutch levels now that it’s become popular and queues are forming.

I had great expectations of Yokohama's ramen given the overwhelming number of 5-star reviews, but I was honestly disappointed in the flavour of the broth AND service. TL;DR: I've had better ramen and service in other ramen restaurants. I would not come here again based on the service, the cooks were nice tho and said goodbye when we left. I chose the Soy Tonkotsu and my bf had Miso Tonkotsu. Both tasted a bit odd. The Soy Tonkotsu reminded me a lot of (Chinese) chicken-ginger broth that I would drink when I was ill - as you can see did not taste like Soy Tonkotsu? The Miso Tonkotsu tasted a bit off as well and had a very particular flavour. But that might be due to the miso they used (as I'm used to the flavour of white miso). Then; the service was displeasing to say the least. We were standing in line at opening (Thursday 17:00) and it was still quiet as there were hardly people before or after us (maybe just 3 groups in total). (1) We were not complete yet, but the lady kindly asked us about the number of persons with a smile, and upon replying her smile instantly dropped - keep in mind that at opening the restaurant was not filled yet - which we found odd. We were asked to wait until we were complete which was fine. (2) Once we were complete, she (while smiling) asked again for the number of persons (4), and here too her smile instantly dropped after us replying. Yet, she let the people behind us in first while we were first in line. But alas, we went in, order was taken, and food was brought to our table. Drinks are self-service and complimentary. All was good. (3) We paid at the counter and were asked if we have a stamp card - which we didn't. And thus we got one. From what I understand, you get one stamp per empty bowl - yet we only got ONE stamp on the new card. Overall, the behaviour of the lady/waitress really left us with an unpleasant feeling.

Extremely homey vibe, greaaat ramen! The noodles were the best I’ve tasted so far in the Netherlands. The portions are good sized but if you eat a lot you’ll need to get the larger size or extra noodles. We got free tea and loads of sauces on the table. We had to wait in line for about 15 mins though as they do not take reservations but so worth the wait

Had heard good stories about this place and theimre was a queue. Waited for an hour to get a table. Gyozas came fast and was delicious. We waited 45 mins for our ramen after ordering. The homemade noodles were truly the highlight. The broth was at first taste delicious but after a while became very salty. I even added some hot water, but it was just too salty for my taste. Would try the dipping ramen next time and come earlier, before they open.

This place serves the best ramen in Rotterdam and the surrounding area! Sometimes there’s a long wait, but it’s definitely worth it. My personal favorite Tantan spicy salt . They also have a stamp card if you finish your bowl, you get a stamp, and you can collect them to earn a free bowl of ramen.

Went for ramen around 17h yesterday' Already there was queue. My expectations were high! After waiting 30 min we got our ramen. I had the vegan ramen, my boyfriend the Tonkotsu soy with each an extra soft boiled egg (ajitsuke tamago). The bowls looked uninviting and plain but i dont judge a book by it's cover' Unfortunately, they did taste plain' Mine tasted like won ton soup and was filled with a bunch of cabbage, a few tomatoes (not the umami oven baked ones), onion pieces and wood-ear mushrooms. But my favorite part: the ramen egg was a whole egg that, after i tried to cut it in half with a spoon, looked much more like a hard boiled egg. The outer colour was pale and the egg yolk had a greenish, brownish colour with a slight runny core. UTTERLY TASTLESS!! I told the waitress about my disappointment in the eggs and then, a cook came to retrieve our eggs with a bowl. A few minutes later, the 'head chef' I suppose, came standing infront of us with another egg in half on a plate' (that looked just as disgusting as ours for that matter). I could hear his anger when i said that this wasn't a true ramen egg, it suppose to have an almost custardy runny yolk, lots of umami flavor and coloured on the outside' He responded by saying: these are MY ajitsuke tamago! Flaring his nostrils' I thought, if you would give these to any Japanese ramen chef, he would smack you in the face! And the nerve for saying 'then perhaps you shouldn't eat here anymore' Well, indeed, we won't come back here ever again, a shame, because their kitchen is beautiful and well equipt, they serve free roasted barley ice tea wich I appreciate' plus -they make their noodles from scratch by using flour from a local mill nearby-very cool. But if the flavors and presentation are absent then it's a no go for me -and yeah, also the attitude of a so called ramen chef that I don't think had an education whatsoever on Japanese ramen. Ramen should speak to the soul, there should be time and love put into it and I didn't taste that at all and neither my boyfriend's

Additionally, the seating isn’t the most comfortable, and you may find yourself sharing a table with noisy diners, which can detract from the experience if you’re hoping for a private chat. Despite these minor inconveniences, the quality of the ramen makes it all worthwhile. I’ll definitely be back for more!

Real Japanese food. Taste was perfect, but very little choice. Very popular, especially among young people. You must have a lot of patience, because there is (apparently almost always) a long queue before you can enter. Inside it is neat, but very soberly decorated. Without asking, someone else will simply be added to your table...

One of the best Ramen soups I’ve had. Authentic, delicious, special care for each bowl. Recommend to go early on weekends or during the weekdays to avoid waiting outside.

Easily 5 stars, warm welcome, delicious atmosphere and food with lots of flavor and power. Eating ramen here is highly recommended, it's always interesting to follow their Instagram page as they update opening days. It is also possible to do a ramen workshop. They also have a drink (I think it's tea) that everyone can help themselves to.

We were hoping for an unforgettable ramen experience, but unfortunately it didn't quite meet expectations. We stood in line for 40 minutes (reservations not possible) and waited 45 minutes for our food. There were 3 of us and we all ordered the signature ramen bowl: the broth was very thick and salty. The boiled egg was almost well done. As far as I know this is supposed to be 'runny'. The cha siew was very tasty. You taste the roasted flavor of the meat. A plus point is that you are offered free cold tea, which you can take and refill yourself. Furthermore, it is very warm in the shop. There are fans, but they do not move back and forth. Unfortunately it wasn't worth it.

My first ramen experience and of course it had to be proper. Very Good food, amazing atmosphere, pleasant staff, good prices. If you're looking for some good Miso and Gyoza, get to this place asap!

This is (so far) the very best Tonkotsu ramen place in the Rotterdam area. Great authentic Japanese flavours with the use of regional products like flour from the Schiedam mills. Beware there can be also 'authentic Japanese' waiting lines outside, so sometimes you might have to queue up. (What is not so great is that not all eaters have yet adopted the Japanese custom of slurping your bowl and making space for the next customer fast.) Anyway, warmly recommended! We are secretly hoping that Saito-san will be interesting in opening a second shop around Charlois, Rotterdam :)

I came here because this ramen spot was called a hidden gem, as it is located in the middle of Schiedam. But to be honest, the Tonkotsu ramen was not to my liking. It is just standard ramen, nothing special. I’d expect to have more richness flavour in the broth. Also, don't order the Chicken Spicy ramen you will be disappointed. It's just like your slightly better home made instant ramen.. There was a queue when I was there on the weekend, but it moved pretty quickly. The service was also great like typical Japanese restaurant

Fantastic Ramen! Japan in Schiedam

Often heard of it, never been there before. Luckily we didn't have to queue as there was room. Ramen was really delicious. You could taste that it was homemade. Soup meat tasty, for me personally it could have been a little less salty. I will definitely eat here more often. Hopefully I won't have to wait in line.

Everything in the interior that distracts from the food is missing, and you sit on simple chairs at a Formica table. You will understand why people queue up for this as soon as you taste the Ramen. We had the boiled chicken Gyoza as an appetizer, and then I had the Tantan spicy salt Ramen. What an experience! Your taste buds have to work hard to process everything. Seemingly simple but completely complete in terms of taste. What an experience 😀

I don't understand people, the food may be good, but can you wait in line at the door and eat in a hurry in a bad environment?!! The owners should tidy up the place a bit, the windows and tables are dirty and old!!! Rude!!

I love this place, no wonder there is always long line for it. The noodles are made from a flour milled in a windmill in schiedam. Big portion and they encourage you to finish your bowl by giving you on stamp per empty bowl and you collect I think 10 to get a bowl of ramen for free. I have tried all the ramens except the vegetarian one and its all lovely. For people not eating pork there is a chicken option as well.
