Yuzu Dining Bar in Grachtengordel-Zuid

I came here with my partner recently, and honestly, it couldn't have been a better choice. A place and a concept unlike anything else in the city. Excellent service. Very good service, fun yet sophisticated. And incredible food. Ben, one of the owners, served us, explaining the concept and offering us the "omakase" experience. He was incredibly attentive and surprised us with the dishes—an excellent culinary experience. Finally, some cocktails with a Japanese touch in such an intimate setting—an amazing experience. We'll definitely be back!

I keep coming back for the same reason: it feels like an experience. A full evening where everything just clicks. It’s not a huge place, which is exactly why it feels cosy and authentic. The only downside is that it can be hard to get in, so I’d definitely recommend reserving on time. From the moment you walk in, you notice it. Warm welcome, lively but comfortable atmosphere, great music, and a fun mix of people at the bar and around the tables. My perfect night usually starts upstairs at the bar with a high-level cocktail. Balanced, not too sweet, and clearly made by people who take their craft seriously. The bar team also makes a big difference. The barman and manager, Jim, is incredibly friendly and service-minded. He remembers faces, pays attention, and makes you feel genuinely welcome. And the hostesses are super friendly too, professional, warm, personal and on it without feeling “formal”. Then you can head down to the cellar, where there’s a cosy little dance floor with a surprisingly strong line-up of serious and upcoming DJs. What I love is that the cellar is “box-in-box” / fully soundproof. So you get the energy downstairs, without the restaurant upstairs turning into chaos. You can dance, come back up for a few dishes, go down again, and it all feels natural. Food-wise, this is where Amsterdam really stands out for me: the roboyaki/robatayaki grill. They grill at around 1200°C, and you can genuinely taste what that does. It creates an intense, sometimes smoky char on the outside while keeping the inside juicy and tender. Flavours get deeper and more concentrated, and the texture stays clean and precise. It’s the kind of cooking where you don’t need heavy sauces. The grill is the flavour. If you’re going for the grill experience, two tips: 1. Order a few roboyaki/robatayaki dishes and share them. It’s the best way to taste the range. 2. Pick at least one option you normally wouldn’t choose. This place is great at pleasantly surprising you. A small story that stuck with me: I ended up chatting with someone who had just spoken to a Japanese chef. He was so excited about this place that he actually applied to work here. That level of enthusiasm from a professional doesn’t happen at average spots. After my own experiences here, I can totally believe that. You never feel rushed here. You can ease into the night, enjoy the bar, enjoy the grill, dance a little, talk to friendly people and let the evening unfold. For price vs. total experience, it’s honestly hard, maybe even impossible, to beat in Amsterdam. Great cocktails, serious grilling, a great crowd, and a night you’ll remember.

Yuzu Dining Bar is an easy place to feel comfortable. The yakitori is full of flavour and nicely cooked, and the sake selection pairs naturally with the food. The atmosphere is relaxed, the music fits well, and the service feels genuine. A great spot to unwind, eat well and enjoy a well-balanced evening.

This Japanese yakitori place is absolutely delicious. The chicken liver is a must-order — incredibly juicy, not gamey at all, not dry, perfectly seasoned, and honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. Every skewer is made with real care, and you can tell the chef puts a lot of heart into each dish. What surprised me most was the subtle smoky flavor in the yakitori — it adds so much depth and makes everything even more addictive. I genuinely loved it and wished I could come here every day. They have a good selection of drinks, but if you don’t drink alcohol, it’s totally fine to just enjoy a soda here. The service is excellent — friendly, attentive, and relaxed. The interior has a strong Japanese illustrated style, warm and atmospheric, yet it also carries that unique Amsterdam vibe. It feels cozy, intimate, and very special. One thing to note: if you make a reservation, they charge a €30 deposit, which will be deducted from your final bill — totally reasonable. Highly recommended. One of the coziest restaurant-bars in Amsterdam. The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is amazing, and you can watch everything being freshly prepared in the open kitchen. To top it all off, the cocktails are outstanding. All of this comes together in a truly cozy, unique atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer.

We literally ordered every part of the chicken and everything including fish and vegetable dishes was cooked to perfection. The minced meat, wings and the fish were my favorites. We also loved the mochi and cheesecake. The waiter was very friendly and recommended us a very delicious sake. I’m deducting 1 star because after spending 100s of euros, I don’t want to pay for water.

It's a trap! I dont understand where 4.7 stars review comes from - maybe for the cocktails? The food is completely bland. Not even a single pinch of salt is added. Food selection is also very limited. Beer selection...there's 2 bottled options: Asahi and 0%. Not to say portions are freaking small for the high prices charged. Service is slow. This is a cocktail bar at best.

Elsa was exceptionnelle as a server. Again the food was delicious. I had a lovely 380ml bottle of sparkling junmai (see pic for name) that went great with everything. But in particular the saba (mackerel) was delicious last night. Yuzu is a regular must go to spot for me in Amsterdam. Previous review: 2024 Everything was delicious. It got really busy and service got overwhelmed for a while. But other than needing to be patient everything was stellar. Cocktails were especially good.

Refreshing vibes, unique flavours & next-level cocktails! ✨ I went to Yuzu with some friends, and I’d never been to a yakitori place before. What’s really cool is that the staff actually explain how everything works, so you can see how much love and care goes into each dish. It’s such a different vibe from most restaurants in Amsterdam, it honestly feels like a breath of fresh air! The dishes are amazing and the portions are just perfect, so you have to come back for a second round (I literally can never choose!). And the cocktails are next level too! They even made an Asian-style spicy margarita for my friend, but you should definitely try the Basil Smash and the Kohi Martini. This is honestly one of my favourite restaurants, with the most passionate staff ever. Love the vibe!❤️

Atmosphere good but Food is a bit salty, and when we were there the stuff ask how was everything and we told them that it not Japanese rice and feel like she not really care, and then she come back tell us the chef said they don’t get supply today?? I’m surprised how a place like this has a 4.7 rating. You pay a fortune for tiny portions and end up eating food with no special taste, leaving the table still hungry. And the service from the waiters, needs to be better.I’m not coming back again.

This place is an experience. Our best dinner in Amsterdam so far. From the menu, you need to take the eisberg salad and the corn which are both amazing. Miso cucumber also remarkable. From the meats - the cartilages, tails and wings were very good. The liver was out of this world. Drinks are also great. Great great place.

Amazing restaurant with yakitori that taste just like Japan 🥰 however the service could have been better especially with regards to allergies. However the kitchen made it worth it because they handled the allergy super well.

Had a lovely experience at Yuza. It’s a great concept keeping it traditional yakitori but a real uniqueness to the flavours. There has clearly been a lot of effort put into the creation of the menu, and it really shows. It’s an impressive show with the open kitchen, and bar central to the restaurant. I have never been so excited eating iceberg lettuce. The rice chips with miso butter… and that’s before starting on the chicken. A small issue was there was a disparity amongst the waiting staff. We had one gentleman who was passionate about what was being offered and helped us navigate the menu. This was really helpful, and great to know what we were eating. Other waiting staff weren’t so interested which was a shame as this restaurant deserves it.

The sushi here is top-notch: incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and with a perfect balance of rice and fish. The miso soup was simple but heartwarming. The price is a bit higher than average, but you really get the quality you deserve.

What an oasis of hospitality, with exciting and delicious dishes. Diverse in taste, mouthfeel, and experience. So many different flavors that continue to surprise you. Combined with the smooth and exceptionally attentive, hospitable service, this is highly recommended. The price/quality ratio is also perfectly balanced.

The food, service, and atmosphere (we sat outside on the street on a beautiful evening!) were all outstanding the recent evening that we visited. I decremented the overall rating due to their arcane, Machiavellian, anxiety-inducing reservation policies. Perhaps this is a relic of a time when they were busier and more popular, but the night we visited they were not full. I'm particularly concerned about the policy requiring a reserved customer to answer their call-back confirmation, or they threaten to cancel your reservation. I didn't receive a call back nor a text to confirm the reservation, and was concerned that we'd be bumped. This seems excessive and unnecessary to me -- particularly since they ALSO require a €30 reservation deposit. (This is intended as constructive feedback, because, otherwise, we really enjoyed our visit!)

I ordered two extremely tasty dishes and now think everything else on the menu is just as delicious.

Came to review Yuzu for work during my last night of my work trip. I definitely saved the best restaurant for last. The staff were impeccable, the food came out very quickly. They were super friendly. There’s a $15 reservation fee but it’s worth it. A great date night spot but also is great if you’re solo traveling and want to get a chef counter experience Kebi suggested the Kaffir Sour 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Highly recommend Can’t Rave about this place enough. Shoutout to Jim, Sofia, Rosha & Kebi

This place is amazing, I immediately felt welcomed and appreciated! We got a delicious mocktail served with juicy oysters, after they served us warm, fresh share dinning dishes and each one was so delicious. Definitely going for another visit soon!

Food is amazing!! but I was a little disappointed by the cocktail, I found them underwhelming compared the flavour level of the food. Service is great but extra point for the blond waitress (called Sofia I believe) cause she provided a very good service.

I recently visited Yuzu Dining Bar in Amsterdam and while the food was genuinely great—flavors were well-balanced, creative, and beautifully presented—the service left much to be desired. Staff felt somewhat disengaged, and the overall experience lacked the warmth and attentiveness you’d expect from a place with such promising cuisine. The contrast between the quality of the food and the so-so service was disappointing enough that I don’t see myself returning.

I just left this restaurant; everything was incredible from start to finish. From the service to the quality of the food and the atmosphere. The staff is very attentive. I paid €65 for a dish accompanied by a side, a beer, two glasses of wine, and a cocktail; the price is very reasonable. Special mention to the person who makes the cocktails. I didn't know what to order, so I asked them to make me a cocktail based on one criterion: no whiskey, and I got a super tasty yuzu margarita. One thing to add: maybe consider offering a little more choice for people who don't eat meat or are vegetarian. Thank you for the experience; it was the best! 😎❤️ I recommend this restaurant and will most likely come back on my next trip to Amsterdam!

The drinks menu is superb, tasty and not too extensive, with a nice list of cocktails with a Japanese twist (the kaffir sour was delicious). The food was amazing! If you enjoy a surprise, opt for the omakase and let the kitchen create a selection of appetizers. The yakitori were all perfection, and the shared dishes were always a delicious surprise.
