we had a bit of a mixed experience here. on the positive side, most of the chicken yakitori was delicious and perfectly tender, though i’d suggest skipping the cartilage skewer, as it was tough and lacked meat. the miso cucumber was a lovely starter as well. unfortunately, other parts of the meal were disappointing. the asparagus was extremely fibrous and difficult to chew, and the cheesecake fell short, lacking the signature cookie crust.

The food was fenomenal, i wish i could try the duck that i will try next time I’m there because I absolutely want to come back. Everything about this evening from the food through the professional service and great atmosphere makes me wanna go back!! Sashimi I will dream about for weeks! Cant wait to visit again!!

Very comfortable, and absolutely delicious yakitori. The sound of Japanese patrons around me gave me deep assurance. This is a trendy, modern, gastrobar like setup with choice of cocktails, sake and beer. It’ll look dark from the outside but don’t let that fool you. Come early or the good stuff on the yakitori menu will be sold out.

Easily the best Japanese food we’ve had outside of Japan. Fantastic Yakitori with great service and a fantastic restaurant fit out. Don’t miss it if looking for authentic Japanese food in Amsterdam.

Yuzu is always a wonderful delight for my tastebuds. The yakitori is delicious and always perfectly done. The staff are so welcoming and sweet; they're just the icing on the cake. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike!

We reserved a table at the restaurant part, but calling this anything else than a cocktail bar is an exageration. Each small plate is literally a bite and a half and took ages for all of them to arrive. We were still hungry afterwards and had to get sandwiches at the Albert heijn

Yuzu is my favorite restaurant in the entire world. Every time I'm in Amsterdam I make sure to book a dinner. The service is always on point. The lettuce dish is to-die-for. The rice crackers are perfect and the beef skewers with the egg yolk get me every time!!! Their cherry blossom cocktail is 10/10. And the atmosphere is also perfectly curated. I'm Yuzu's biggest fan! 100% worth it.

A fantastic experience from start to finish. Elsa and Irene were brilliant front-of-house hosts — they knew the menu inside out, made excellent recommendations, and mixed some fantastic cocktails. The food was faultless. Every yakitori skewer was outstanding, and the texture of the glazzard was the best I've ever had. The tiger tomato salad was exceptional too — a clever combination of ingredients I love, beautifully balanced and full of flavour. We'd also love to see more of the chef at work on the yakitori station. Watching the preparation was genuinely entertaining and added another dimension to the experience. Highly recommended for a relaxed evening with friends, enjoying great food, excellent cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere.

The atmosphere was stylish, making it a great place for dinner with friends. Some of the grills are succulent and tasty and there has been a range of choices from each part of the chicken. A little pricy if you are looking to eat full. Service is great overall but needs slight improvement.

Jubei was really an amazing waiter/bar tender/host making the whole dining experience so enjoyable (plus the food was incredible too so that obviously helped!!). Cool vibe, chilled music, also went with two kids 10yrs and 11yrs and they enjoyed it (some mild nudity on the walls) . Corn fritters were delicious! Pricey more high end restaurant but very worth it. We searched it up on google then walked by and there was space.

The service and the food are both excellent. The chicken is delicious, and I was impressed that the seasoning was just like the yakitori I eat in Japan. It's far better than most yakitori restaurants in Japan. 😋

Food is nice, service is a little slow, seats are either high chairs, small benches and a few sofas - better for smaller groups.

The overall experience was quite average. The interior design is nice and stylish, but the space feels a bit cramped and not very comfortable. The music was quite loud and didn’t really match a Japanese-style atmosphere, which made the dining experience less enjoyable. As for the food, it was quite overpriced for what you get. The portions were very small, and there wasn’t much distinction in flavor between different dishes or cuts. Most of them seemed to follow the same pattern — grilled and then topped with chili powder and chopped scallions — which made everything taste quite similar. On top of that, the average spend per person was at least €60, and we still left feeling hungry, even without ordering much alcohol. Overall, the ambiance looks good at first glance, but the food and experience don’t really justify the price.

It's an experience eating here. Bring your curiosity and desire for new things to try. Great spot!

We had a delicious dinner with 7 people last night. Our charming host, Brandon, put together the dishes for us that we had shared. Truly a top-notch experience. Everything was perfectly taken care of and incredibly flavorful. Highly recommended.

A little tight but amazing place, delicious food and great cocktails.

I absolutely loved this place, from the setting and the food to the atmosphere. Lots of grilled dishes, vegetables, and yakitori of course. Some surprising and delicious dishes like the corn tempura and the grilled avocado with chili and garlic sauce. The fish carpaccio was excellent. Very cool vibe.

The food was excellent and very flavorful. Unfortunately, the main issue during our visit was that some dishes were missed from our orders. This happened twice in one evening with two separate orders, so we had to wait longer than expected. I also noticed that the servers seemed to memorize the orders instead of writing them down, which might be contributing to the problem. Hopefully this can be improved, because the food itself was really very good.

I wanted to like this place, but the experience just didn’t come together. Service was painfully slow from the start. It took way too long just to get someone to take our order, and with this kind of Japanese small-plate setup (yakitori dishes), timing really matters. You’re supposed to get a steady flow of food. Instead, it felt like we were waiting forever between dishes. On top of that, two of the items we ordered just never showed up. The server did apologize, which I appreciate, but by then the whole rhythm of the meal was already off. When the concept depends on lots of small dishes coming out consistently, delays and missing items kind of break the entire experience. The biggest issue though is the value. For what you’re paying, the portions are tiny even by tapas standards. You can easily spend €100 for two people and still leave hungry. At this point, this might take the #1 spot for most disproportionate restaurant in all of Amsterdam, and I’m not even kidding. Prices and experience are just completely out of sync. Concept is fine. Execution is not. Hard to justify coming back.

Dropped by to have a few drinks with some bites and had a really nice time! The whisky highball had a nice clean taste and the food was yum so I ended up eating a lot more than I initially thought I would eat😋 staff were friendly and I also liked the music that was playing 😝 would definitely go back!

You can eat yakitori that's better than anything you'd find in Japan. I've never seen a restaurant outside of Japan where you can eat the entire chicken like this. The amazing taste is possible because they butcher a whole chicken every morning.

Absolutely incredible food and service. The option to make the menu as you go, course by course is an absolute godsent. We felt like the server took into account our wishes very well, the cocktails were great (though not all of them hit the same level). I'd absolutely go out of my way to come here again next time I'm around.

It was really great! We took the "Omakase" which means "by chef's choice" and it was fantastic. We may have expected some more exotic choices such as heart or other offal. This does not change our great perception of that evening!

This place was absolutely fabulous, the service was amazing. Our server walked us through the menu and was available for any questions we had about the menu. The open plan kitchen allowed us to see what was going on and it was interesting to see. I would highly recommend this place for dinner especially the omakase experience that they offer the chefs know their stuff!!!

Kore wa oishii desu! Beautiful and cozy interior, cozy tables and bar areas. Great music and good acoustics. All the yakitori chicken (belly, artery, tenderloin) were delicious, but the sides were just as good (rice cracker miso, corn tempura).

This chicken is absolutely delicious. Beyond all expectations. The two of us had 7 yakitori each, and two signature dishes to share. The alcohol was very good as well, and the general atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant. You won’t regret eating here, it’s great.

Dining Experience: We made a reservation at this restaurant after reading positive online reviews. At the beginning, we really enjoyed our meal and the food was good. However, after we got home and checked the bill, we noticed a clear mistake: we ordered three glasses of wine and only received three, yet the receipt clearly shows that four glasses of wine were charged. We called the restaurant that same evening and were told to contact them by email. I emailed the restaurant immediately, but the email could not be delivered due to their server issue, and no alternative contact was provided. Unfortunately, two days have passed and we have not received any reply, phone call, or explanation. As a restaurant, no matter how good the food or drinks are, honesty is far more important. Because of this experience, we will not recommend this place to friends. This has also reminded us to carefully check every item on the bill before paying. I hope this serves as a reminder to others

Had a nice evening. We decided to do the chefs recomendations/choices, so we got several dishes. My personal favourite were the chicken tail skewers,the lettuce dish and the corn tempura. The umeshu (plum liqueur) was also amazing.

I came here with my partner recently, and honestly, it couldn't have been a better choice. A place and a concept unlike anything else in the city. Excellent service. Very good service, fun yet sophisticated. And incredible food. Ben, one of the owners, served us, explaining the concept and offering us the "omakase" experience. He was incredibly attentive and surprised us with the dishes—an excellent culinary experience. Finally, some cocktails with a Japanese touch in such an intimate setting—an amazing experience. We'll definitely be back!

I keep coming back for the same reason: it feels like an experience. A full evening where everything just clicks. It’s not a huge place, which is exactly why it feels cosy and authentic. The only downside is that it can be hard to get in, so I’d definitely recommend reserving on time. From the moment you walk in, you notice it. Warm welcome, lively but comfortable atmosphere, great music, and a fun mix of people at the bar and around the tables. My perfect night usually starts upstairs at the bar with a high-level cocktail. Balanced, not too sweet, and clearly made by people who take their craft seriously. The bar team also makes a big difference. The barman and manager, Jim, is incredibly friendly and service-minded. He remembers faces, pays attention, and makes you feel genuinely welcome. And the hostesses are super friendly too, professional, warm, personal and on it without feeling “formal”. Then you can head down to the cellar, where there’s a cosy little dance floor with a surprisingly strong line-up of serious and upcoming DJs. What I love is that the cellar is “box-in-box” / fully soundproof. So you get the energy downstairs, without the restaurant upstairs turning into chaos. You can dance, come back up for a few dishes, go down again, and it all feels natural. Food-wise, this is where Amsterdam really stands out for me: the roboyaki/robatayaki grill. They grill at around 1200°C, and you can genuinely taste what that does. It creates an intense, sometimes smoky char on the outside while keeping the inside juicy and tender. Flavours get deeper and more concentrated, and the texture stays clean and precise. It’s the kind of cooking where you don’t need heavy sauces. The grill is the flavour. If you’re going for the grill experience, two tips: 1. Order a few roboyaki/robatayaki dishes and share them. It’s the best way to taste the range. 2. Pick at least one option you normally wouldn’t choose. This place is great at pleasantly surprising you. A small story that stuck with me: I ended up chatting with someone who had just spoken to a Japanese chef. He was so excited about this place that he actually applied to work here. That level of enthusiasm from a professional doesn’t happen at average spots. After my own experiences here, I can totally believe that. You never feel rushed here. You can ease into the night, enjoy the bar, enjoy the grill, dance a little, talk to friendly people and let the evening unfold. For price vs. total experience, it’s honestly hard, maybe even impossible, to beat in Amsterdam. Great cocktails, serious grilling, a great crowd, and a night you’ll remember.

Yuzu Dining Bar is an easy place to feel comfortable. The yakitori is full of flavour and nicely cooked, and the sake selection pairs naturally with the food. The atmosphere is relaxed, the music fits well, and the service feels genuine. A great spot to unwind, eat well and enjoy a well-balanced evening.

This Japanese yakitori place is absolutely delicious. The chicken liver is a must-order — incredibly juicy, not gamey at all, not dry, perfectly seasoned, and honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. Every skewer is made with real care, and you can tell the chef puts a lot of heart into each dish. What surprised me most was the subtle smoky flavor in the yakitori — it adds so much depth and makes everything even more addictive. I genuinely loved it and wished I could come here every day. They have a good selection of drinks, but if you don’t drink alcohol, it’s totally fine to just enjoy a soda here. The service is excellent — friendly, attentive, and relaxed. The interior has a strong Japanese illustrated style, warm and atmospheric, yet it also carries that unique Amsterdam vibe. It feels cozy, intimate, and very special. One thing to note: if you make a reservation, they charge a €30 deposit, which will be deducted from your final bill — totally reasonable. Highly recommended. One of the coziest restaurant-bars in Amsterdam. The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is amazing, and you can watch everything being freshly prepared in the open kitchen. To top it all off, the cocktails are outstanding. All of this comes together in a truly cozy, unique atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer.

We literally ordered every part of the chicken and everything including fish and vegetable dishes was cooked to perfection. The minced meat, wings and the fish were my favorites. We also loved the mochi and cheesecake. The waiter was very friendly and recommended us a very delicious sake. I’m deducting 1 star because after spending 100s of euros, I don’t want to pay for water.

It's a trap! I dont understand where 4.7 stars review comes from - maybe for the cocktails? The food is completely bland. Not even a single pinch of salt is added. Food selection is also very limited. Beer selection...there's 2 bottled options: Asahi and 0%. Not to say portions are freaking small for the high prices charged. Service is slow. This is a cocktail bar at best.
