To celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, we were looking for a great venue in Katwijk. We chose a beach pavilion because many guests don't see the sea every day, and it would add a special touch to the party. We also ultimately chose ZILT, located on the beach near the lighthouse in Katwijk. The preliminary meeting was friendly and clear, and the owner took the time to explain everything thoroughly. We ultimately opted for a layout with an entrance, a buffet, and an exit mid-afternoon, so that those who lived far away could get home before dark. The quote was prepared and sent, and the result was a wonderful party, excellent service, a fantastic buffet (highly recommended), and a lovely afternoon for our 80 guests in a beach pavilion with a fantastic sea view. The weather at the end of October meant that wind and rain were part of the fun, and if you can admire it from inside... perfect! In short, highly recommended. Paul van Houwelingen

Fast service, comfortable lounge seating, and pleasant (soft) music. It was lovely to enjoy a hot chocolate after a Thursday afternoon walk on the beach.

Nice restaurant right on the beach. The service was friendly and English was very good. The food was delicious – more vegetarian options would be great!

Unwelcoming, the kitchen was closed until 5:00 PM, and they weren't really open to us having a drink then (even though the entire terrace was full). We had made a reservation, and two of our eight meals arrived 30 minutes late. Again, no consideration or apology was offered.

We enjoyed the sun with delicious snacks and drinks. Super friendly service.

The best beach bar in Katwijk. We tried out various bars during our two-week vacation in the town, and ZILT was by far the best. A super friendly team and a truly delicious, varied menu.

I'm not saying what's good, but what's bad is also bad!! Today I ate and drank something at Zilt on the terrace overlooking the sea. Nothing special, just two croquettes on bread with my wife, a beer, and sparkling water. It shouldn't have been that difficult, but the croquettes were lukewarm!! Later, I ordered coffee, which seemed well-prepared, but the speculaas biscuit you get with it is very soft and therefore not tasty!! Luckily, there are other beach bars, so they won't see us again!! It's quite pricey, which is fine, but then you have to sell quality, so in my case, at least the croquettes were hot!! I did mention it to the waiter when I was paying, but he gave it a twist!! Too bad, but I'll be skipping this beach bar from now on!! 😎🌞

The food was delicious, the vegetable curry is highly recommended. And the service was excellent, too bad we forgot your name (the blonde young lady). Attentive, spontaneous, and always up for a laugh! It was so much fun, that really made the evening!

Part of the restaurant is situated on a small elevation. Guests often don't notice this and stumble. Very annoying.

Great quality at a great price. Definitely beats many hotel breakfasts. We had the Ontbijt Zilt and American pancakes. Fabulous, and everything was fresh. The pancakes were still warm, and the fruit salad was homemade. We'd go back anytime. P.S. And the ambiance inside is super stylish and modern.

Food was good. They were out of most breakfast items by 10.30am.

A simple restaurant right on the beach. The food is reasonable (the sole is excellent), but the drinks are considerably overpriced, even compared to the competition. However, the location makes up for it.

This is an awesome place with lovely food. The only puzzling thing was the service - they would walk around our table with empty bottles and glasses and would never take a new order proactively :) I would come back though as the meal, dessert and the drinks (wine) were great :)

Fish+Chips for this price level (20€) it was as good as expected. For my taste I prefer a cheaper/easier version of Fish+Chips :-)

Extremely rude and traumatizing service. We went there as a big group for our conference dinner, served as a buffet. Once they filled the buffet plates, I started to go get food. Then one waiter came over and shouted at me in a very rude way: “Stop! You cannot do this!” I was very confused since I didn’t know what I wasn’t supposed to do. He kept telling me to stop in a very angry way while I was just standing there. Finally, he said, “How come you are taking food while it is not open yet? You can eat what you took now and that's it! No more is allowed!” As customers, we are not expected to know their unspoken rules about when the buffet is ready if they don’t explicitly tell us. On top of that, instead of such horrible and traumatizing communication, this waiter could’ve simply said, “The preparation is not ready yet,” from the beginning. Since this waiter also kept serving us drinks, the whole evening was just ruined because we had to keep interacting with him.

Fish and chips were great, but some staff were quite unfriendly and dismissive. We asked to move to a shadier table since many were free, but got a rude response. Same with a simple drink change-just a cold “no”. A little kindness would go a long way. With friendlier service, I am sure the place would be packed on sunny days.

Sat on the beach for a nice lunch at Zilt. Food was good, service friendly. Unfortunately no coke zero... View from the terrace is not nice with all those wind screens. Apparently it's a Katwijk thing, because that was the case everywhere. However, there are enough parasols and shade on the terrace, to cool off in this hot weather. Toilets are neat and clean, although you have to go to the disabled toilet for the men to wash your hands. But clearly indicated. Prices were high, but it was good and tasty. Worth repeating.

Eating on the beach is always nice. In this restaurant you have a varied menu. Not too crazy, good portions.

Great food, unfortunately the sole and spareribs were already gone at 19:00, which is what we came for, but the other choices were also good. Friendly service and we sat inside.

Food was not good, spareribs were completely overcooked and very dry... in addition we got a main course that we had not ordered at all... only reaction was: Oh, sorry.... Furthermore nothing at all. In short: bad food for too much money, find another nice and good restaurant in Katwijk!

Always been a satisfied regular customer. However, the new owner has a new policy. You can/may only take a seat at the seats in the sand with a maximum of 4 people. We were 8 people and asked if we could add chairs/bench. This was not allowed. Even when asking the new owner, this appears not to be allowed. Because we regularly have lunch with more than 3 people, our "regular spot" is now a thing of the past. That doesn't matter to the new owner either. Where (in-law) parents were customer and service-oriented, this is now completely lacking. Shame....

Unfortunately, poor service, many young girls and boys, it takes a long time before they come to help you. Inside there are three or four of them chatting. A few weeks ago, much better with a permanent employee Shame!

Before we went to the musical Soldaat van Oranje we had a bite to eat here. Located wonderfully on the beach. Service was good, we were helped quickly and the delicious food came quickly. Definitely recommended if you are in Katwijk.

Great restaurant by the sea with delicious dishes, the hot chicken sandwich is highly recommended. Delicious with fresh vegetables and a delicious sandwich. Saar's excellent service makes it a pleasure. Top class! The place by the sea, you have to go here to experience it for yourself. We will be going there again soon

Successful reservation was advantageous because of the parasol. Overall, you should bring plenty of time and use the hidden outdoor shower for sandy feet. The delicious cool smoothie was just right, which is why we ordered several. Highly recommended.

After a day of walking in Katwijk, made a reservation at Zilt (already sat on the terrace for a drink in the afternoon). Nicely seated, relaxed, delicious food. We ate the spare ribs, the beef burger and the fish dish clean! Top.

A really fresh, good cookie with tea and coffee. So I think that's really great. A delicious breakfast and something for everyone. The Salty breakfast is complete with sourdough bread from the bakery. You can actually eat it for two! Yogurt bowl with fresh fruit was tasty, as were the American pancakes. Good service, nice decoration. Top!

Unfortunately, the day we were there the place was packed and the staff was trying their best to cater to all guests. Nevertheless we had to wait a long time for our food to arrive. A Ziltbuffet on the occasion of our 90 year old mother. Well maintained and delicious food. Because of the heat, we thought carefully about a solution to celebrate indoors. We had a very good hostess in Chantalle. Thank you from my mother!

We had reserved and got the worst table in the restaurant. Then we had to wait quite a long time until anyone came to us. The waitress always just said: “same”. After we had something to drink. It wasn't asked again either. I would have liked something more to drink. But since we had to wait about 1.5 hours for our food. I was really served and actually wanted to go back. But the food was quite good. But I wouldn't go there anymore. The whole thing ruined what was actually a lovely evening for me. Too bad

Once but never again. Food arrives even though the cutlery is not there yet. If you want something to drink you have to wait at least 15 minutes before the waiter sees you and if you say something you get a big mouth because the lady is very busy on a half filled terrace with only empty glasses.

They went to hide from the wind. And drink a cup of coffee. Similar cafes along the coastline. There are many people. Someone is sitting with a glass of wine, admiring the views of the sea, and someone is eating a full lunch.

The place opens at 9 a.m., but your fairly simple breakfast doesn't arrive until 9:40 a.m., without butter or gravy. The cappuccino sm the resembles coffee that has been brewed too long with a lot of milk foam. Nice service and nice atmosphere.

After a day at the beach we enjoyed a delicious meal on the terrace. Nice casual service that helped us well (beer lukewarm but resolved well). Have a nice seat until sunset! Recommended.

Ambiance is great! Music is not too loud and the service is very nice. After 4 burgers here, I can say that they have the best burgers on the beach! The patty is probably homemade, well cooked and the center is still pink. Cocktails prices are appropriate and somehow taste better! Zilt is definitely recommended and is also preferable to the competition in terms of price.

Finally used the gift vouchers for Zilt. What a nice introduction, we had a delicious meal, great service and pleasantly busy on an atmospheric summer evening.

Cozy atmosphere. Everything outside was full and the employee standing there clearly did not feel like giving us a seat. His response to the question if there was still room was: "All the good places are already gone." We had to ask ourselves about the less good places to ensure that we could get food and drinks. Once inside, where there was plenty of room, we were kindly helped by the other waitresses. We ordered the bitterballen sandwiches. It was striking that 1 of the 6 bitterballen was a satay ball. Also tasty, but not what we ordered and it did not stand out in terms of appearance. The dips with the sandwiches were tasty. The sandwiches themselves also tasted fresh and traditional.

My wife and I had some drinks and snacks here. We ordered sangria and a portion of bitterballen. The sangria was quite tasty and the bitterballen tasted good. The service was also very friendly.

Everything is well arranged at Zilt. The staff are incredibly friendly, the food is delicious, the portions are generous and the atmosphere is relaxed. We will definitely come back again!

Saturday breakfast was a good idea here, facing the beach, great suggestion the menu for 2 people with various dishes, good quality and quantity. The staff is friendly, speak perfect English. Just good place for a chill breakfast or dinner to escape the big city!Dank u well, Tot Ziens!
