The seating area is lovely, with a view of the sea. It wasn't very crowded and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious, although not exactly cheap. The Dutch fries with mayo were especially fantastic – incredibly fresh and with the skin on. I've rarely had such good fries.

Nice terrace. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. It's a shame the apple pie was heated in the microwave. As a result, it lost its crispness. I would have preferred it cold. The fries, however, were excellent.

Poor service, staff completely lacking in hospitality skills. They were not friendly towards us as first-time guests. In terms of the price-quality ratio of the food, this is definitely not recommended!!

We had lunch at Zilt on Saturday, June 20, with 4 adults. We had ordered our dishes, and although the drinks took quite a while to arrive, the dishes came quickly, except for one. We waited and waited, and after 10 to 15 minutes, I asked our waitress to come over for a moment. We explained that one of us still hadn't received her dish; however, she hadn't noticed anything and checked her device to see if it might be on its way, and lo and behold: the dish was sold out. That can happen, of course, but why does it only become clear when the rest of the table is almost finished eating? My friend who had ordered it was not amused and quickly went to look at the menu for something else. What bothered us most was that the waitress offered us nothing for the inconvenience: no drink or anything similar, and not even an apology: according to her, it was “a system error” that it only became clear that the dish was sold out when the rest of the table was already eating. Next, we ordered another drink because it had all taken so long, and also because, according to her, we could only order a glass of tap water with our second drink. The dish we ordered later arrived quite quickly, but the drinks took a very long time, just like the first time. My girlfriend was very thirsty and therefore did not get a drink with her dish, not even tap water. It was a pleasant surprise that the waitress came to ask if the dish we ordered later tasted good, but when my girlfriend replied that she would like a drink with it, the waitress lashed out at her, saying "that they would definitely come and that it was just very busy." We do not consider this a proper way to treat customers, and on top of that, the food was disappointing. We also received an email afterwards inviting us to get in touch, including an email address that was incorrect.

We had breakfast here and it was amazing! We ordered the breakfast for two and it was absolutely delicious! The service was excellent, not pushy but you didn't have to wait forever to be served or even noticed.

When we asked where the salad was, we were told it was sold out. So if we hadn't asked, nothing would have arrived. I also missed the necessary garnish on my croquette sandwich. It was therefore just a sandwich with 2 (Holtkamp??) croquettes (€13.50 😳). Unfortunate, but also unfortunate that there wasn't some form of compensation, such as a complimentary drink or something similar. I believe that as a company, you distinguish yourself precisely by resolving these kinds of issues satisfactorily. I have cancelled our reservation for this coming Sunday (4+) based on this. The waitresses were very nice, but I don't think they were properly instructed or trained. We understand that things can go wrong, but then resolve it satisfactorily for the customer (and ultimately for the business as well).

Waited for our food for almost an hour, no new drinks in between. It was not worth the wait, the fish was tasteless and greasy, and cold fries. Absolutely not worth the money (the prices are standard high).

Nice beach bar with a lovely terrace. Good and plentiful food. Attentive service. It is also open in the winter. It is very nice that you can use the toilet here while sitting on the beach. You are not supposed to wash your feet in the sink. You can do that outside at the beach entrance or under the outdoor shower.

I went here with a friend with food allergies to union and paprika. She ordered the peach and mango salad and specifically stated no onion or paprika. Unfortunately she still found some small pieces red onion. She had to stop eating it because of possible contamination. We were not sure if it was cross contamination or that the salad was premade with onion and then the onion was removed. This is the reason for the 3 star rating in food. The Panini and ice coffe were fine

Disappointing experience. Half an hour after ordering, it turned out a mistake had been made and we had to place the order again. After an hour, we finally received our food, though unfortunately not immediately complete. The table was not fully served, meaning we received two dishes minutes later, and only after we had to ask for them ourselves. As if that wasn't enough, we also found two hairs in one of the dishes. The service was distant and uninterested: no greeting, no apologies, and not a kind word. Furthermore, the staff were gossiping about other terrace guests right next to our table. Unfortunately, not recommended at all.

The staff didn't seem interested in us. We had to struggle to order. They acted as if they didn't see us. Just like that, multiple times. We simply didn't feel welcome. And then the dessert was sold out too. None of us were cheered up by it. We had a better experience at other beach bars. Way too expensive for this not-so-pleasant experience.

Is it possible to go out to eat, but with discounts?

Ordered a spicy chicken sandwich with fries on the side. Very tasty. Good flavor. Fast service, friendly staff. Sat on the outdoor terrace.

We ended up here by chance, sat comfortably in the sun on the terrace, the music was also pleasant and not too loud. My wife had an iced coffee and I had a smoothie, both of which were very tasty ☀️🎶🍹

The food is great, we come here quite regularly. Unfortunately, the service is disappointing. It was very quiet in the restaurant tonight, yet we were barely noticed, if at all. They only come to the table when we wave or when food is being served. Empty plates sat there for 20 minutes, and we couldn't order a second drink. Three young members of the staff are having a great time together at the bar; they would be better off walking around the tables every now and then. Edit: Went back again today. It was good in terms of food and service!

I don't understand why it's so difficult to simply serve your customers. I want to order something, but it seems like they don't want you here. They just ignore you. I don't recommend this place. There are plenty of other nice places where you are welcome. But surely you can read that in the reviews too. Going out to eat with good food and a pleasant experience is what you want to sell, right?

⭐️ 1 star is actually still too much. Disclaimer: The sandwich in the picture shown was *not* largely eaten, as the owner tries to justify. The response to this post says it all. Order the sandwich and behold the deception.... Be warned, but above all, don't be a disappointed person, because the hospitality industry deserves all praise, except for the approach of the owners at "Zilt".... Alongside our drinks, we ordered a *panini tuna melt* for €12.50. In itself, a defensible price for a substantial panini like the ones you get on almost every terrace. Unfortunately, we received a somewhat bare, cheap, tiny pre-baked bun with some tuna slapped on top and barely any cheese. After one bite (hoping the taste would still hold up), the disappointment was complete... We politely indicated that we found the sandwich very disappointing and not tasty, and ordered fries and bitterballen (after all, you can't really mess that up, you would think). The waitstaff returned with the message that the sandwich was “well prepared” and that they therefore could NOT remove it from the bill. In other words: just pay, regardless of quality/quantity. I indicated that I really didn't think this was worth €12.50 and would rather order something else and pay for that. According to the waitress, the prices are so high because “the hospitality industry on the beach is struggling.” Understandable perhaps, but this is neither scandalous quality nor service. They insisted that we had to pay for the sandwich, no matter what. The morale of the place: nowhere to be found. I indicated that they could expect an honest review and we wished them a nice day. We paid, the fries and bitterballen were cancelled, and we quickly walked on to Katukkerzand where you *do* get friendly and tasty service and where the price/quality ratio is simply right. They get 5 stars from us without hesitation. To the staff, the owner, and the corporate morals of Zilt: you should be deeply ashamed. I am adding a photo of the “sandwich” for illustration, so that future customers can adjust their expectations in advance. 🍞💸

How can a place be so wonderful? The food was divine, the service divine. We were there in the evening and enjoyed the sunset over the sea while having a perfect meal. We were served by a young man who even spoke to us in German. Such a lovely person, so attentive. We didn't want to leave.

I recently visited Zilt for coffee with a friend, and we had a really lovely time. The atmosphere was cozy, warm, and welcoming the kind of place where you can comfortably sit and chat for hours. It was a bit crowded when we visited, and the staff seemed quite busy, so I assumed they might have been slightly understaffed. Despite that, the team was still friendly and did their best to keep everything running smoothly. We only stopped by for coffee this time, so we didn’t try any of the food, but I’ve added a photo of the menu for anyone who’s curious about their offerings. Overall, it was a great experience.

Just had a latte macchiato and a ham and cheese pancake. My wife and I were absolutely terrible. I asked for a new latte twice and told her the pancake was cold too. They said, "Oh, sir, sorry, thanks for the feedback." That's what I had to accept. OUTRAGEOUS 😡😡😡😡😡

We had a delicious shared lunch (via a Social Deal) at Zilt. Highly recommended. Our bellies are full! Reservations aren't necessary in winter, but they are if you book with a Social Deal.

To celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, we were looking for a great venue in Katwijk. We chose a beach pavilion because many guests don't see the sea every day, and it would add a special touch to the party. We also ultimately chose ZILT, located on the beach near the lighthouse in Katwijk. The preliminary meeting was friendly and clear, and the owner took the time to explain everything thoroughly. We ultimately opted for a layout with an entrance, a buffet, and an exit mid-afternoon, so that those who lived far away could get home before dark. The quote was prepared and sent, and the result was a wonderful party, excellent service, a fantastic buffet (highly recommended), and a lovely afternoon for our 80 guests in a beach pavilion with a fantastic sea view. The weather at the end of October meant that wind and rain were part of the fun, and if you can admire it from inside... perfect! In short, highly recommended. Paul van Houwelingen

Fast service, comfortable lounge seating, and pleasant (soft) music. It was lovely to enjoy a hot chocolate after a Thursday afternoon walk on the beach.

Nice restaurant right on the beach. The service was friendly and English was very good. The food was delicious – more vegetarian options would be great!

Unwelcoming, the kitchen was closed until 5:00 PM, and they weren't really open to us having a drink then (even though the entire terrace was full). We had made a reservation, and two of our eight meals arrived 30 minutes late. Again, no consideration or apology was offered.

We enjoyed the sun with delicious snacks and drinks. Super friendly service.

The best beach bar in Katwijk. We tried out various bars during our two-week vacation in the town, and ZILT was by far the best. A super friendly team and a truly delicious, varied menu.

I'm not saying what's good, but what's bad is also bad!! Today I ate and drank something at Zilt on the terrace overlooking the sea. Nothing special, just two croquettes on bread with my wife, a beer, and sparkling water. It shouldn't have been that difficult, but the croquettes were lukewarm!! Later, I ordered coffee, which seemed well-prepared, but the speculaas biscuit you get with it is very soft and therefore not tasty!! Luckily, there are other beach bars, so they won't see us again!! It's quite pricey, which is fine, but then you have to sell quality, so in my case, at least the croquettes were hot!! I did mention it to the waiter when I was paying, but he gave it a twist!! Too bad, but I'll be skipping this beach bar from now on!! 😎🌞

The food was delicious, the vegetable curry is highly recommended. And the service was excellent, too bad we forgot your name (the blonde young lady). Attentive, spontaneous, and always up for a laugh! It was so much fun, that really made the evening!

Part of the restaurant is situated on a small elevation. Guests often don't notice this and stumble. Very annoying.

Great quality at a great price. Definitely beats many hotel breakfasts. We had the Ontbijt Zilt and American pancakes. Fabulous, and everything was fresh. The pancakes were still warm, and the fruit salad was homemade. We'd go back anytime. P.S. And the ambiance inside is super stylish and modern.

This is an awesome place with lovely food. The only puzzling thing was the service - they would walk around our table with empty bottles and glasses and would never take a new order proactively :) I would come back though as the meal, dessert and the drinks (wine) were great :)

Fish+Chips for this price level (20€) it was as good as expected. For my taste I prefer a cheaper/easier version of Fish+Chips :-)

Fish and chips were great, but some staff were quite unfriendly and dismissive. We asked to move to a shadier table since many were free, but got a rude response. Same with a simple drink change-just a cold “no”. A little kindness would go a long way. With friendlier service, I am sure the place would be packed on sunny days.

Extremely rude and traumatizing service. We went there as a big group for our conference dinner, served as a buffet. Once they filled the buffet plates, I started to go get food. Then one waiter came over and shouted at me in a very rude way: “Stop! You cannot do this!” I was very confused since I didn’t know what I wasn’t supposed to do. He kept telling me to stop in a very angry way while I was just standing there. Finally, he said, “How come you are taking food while it is not open yet? You can eat what you took now and that's it! No more is allowed!” As customers, we are not expected to know their unspoken rules about when the buffet is ready if they don’t explicitly tell us. On top of that, instead of such horrible and traumatizing communication, this waiter could’ve simply said, “The preparation is not ready yet,” from the beginning. Since this waiter also kept serving us drinks, the whole evening was just ruined because we had to keep interacting with him.

Sat on the beach for a nice lunch at Zilt. Food was good, service friendly. Unfortunately no coke zero... View from the terrace is not nice with all those wind screens. Apparently it's a Katwijk thing, because that was the case everywhere. However, there are enough parasols and shade on the terrace, to cool off in this hot weather. Toilets are neat and clean, although you have to go to the disabled toilet for the men to wash your hands. But clearly indicated. Prices were high, but it was good and tasty. Worth repeating.

Eating on the beach is always nice. In this restaurant you have a varied menu. Not too crazy, good portions.

Food was not good, spareribs were completely overcooked and very dry... in addition we got a main course that we had not ordered at all... only reaction was: Oh, sorry.... Furthermore nothing at all. In short: bad food for too much money, find another nice and good restaurant in Katwijk!

Always been a satisfied regular customer. However, the new owner has a new policy. You can/may only take a seat at the seats in the sand with a maximum of 4 people. We were 8 people and asked if we could add chairs/bench. This was not allowed. Even when asking the new owner, this appears not to be allowed. Because we regularly have lunch with more than 3 people, our "regular spot" is now a thing of the past. That doesn't matter to the new owner either. Where (in-law) parents were customer and service-oriented, this is now completely lacking. Shame....

Nice beach tent Food was not that bad

Unfortunately, poor service, many young girls and boys, it takes a long time before they come to help you. Inside there are three or four of them chatting. A few weeks ago, much better with a permanent employee Shame!
