ZIZO Lounge in Zandvoort Zuid

The restaurant itself is very nice and located right on the beach. However, as soon as we entered, we noticed a strong sewage smell. Upon arriving at our table, we were treated rudely and presented with a fait accompli – everything would be served on one platter, even though there were nine of us. The food arrived quite quickly and was indeed delicious. Unfortunately, the evening took a turn for the worse. When we asked for the bill and wanted to pay separately, which I think is understandable for a party of nine, this was refused. When the waitress, clearly annoyed, asked her boss if this could be arranged, she finally informed us that we would have to calculate ourselves who should pay more. After ten minutes of calculating this and her taking all our payments, she concluded that €14 was missing from a bill of almost €400. She became increasingly unfriendly when I finally told her that I was on vacation and didn't have to do her job. In the end, we had to call her boss, who was then very friendly and waived the €14. However, I have never experienced such bad service as from this waitress.

The food was good, but the atmosphere was unpleasant, as the restaurant smelled quite bad. The service, however, was an absolute disaster. With a bill of around €350, we calculated who owed what ourselves. Over a difference of just €14, the waitress seriously accused us of trying to cheat her. She was extremely rude and insolent and absolutely refused to acknowledge that we had calculated correctly. Only when the manager arrived and checked everything himself did it turn out that we were indeed in the right. At least he apologized. The waitress, on the other hand, urgently needs to learn how to treat guests. I have rarely experienced such disrespectful service. Good food or not – we will definitely not be coming back.

We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, excellent service, and cozy ambiance this evening. For our 4th anniversary, we were surprised with a very warm welcome featuring a beautifully set table, super friendly staff, and nice little extras during the meal. You can tell that the staff genuinely enjoys their work. Personal chats, efficiency, and above all, sincerity. We haven't experienced this in ages. Many thanks for this special evening, and keep it up! Many restaurants could learn a thing or two from this!

Beautiful location on the beach, food was good quality for the price. The service was good and quick during our visit (off-season). Unfortunately, the restaurant's cleanliness was questionable, and the window seats were extremely cold and drafty.

We were there on Thursday. The service was very friendly at first, but when I received the wrong dish and pointed this out to the server, I was accused of having ordered both dishes? I only received one, though. I was certain I had ordered it because I was thinking about the English word for garlic, and my companion confirmed that I had only mentioned what I wanted. Mistakes happen, but to get upset, run over to colleagues, and ignore us for a while is unprofessional. It's a shame, but the food was all the better for it, and everyone else was friendly.

Great location right above the beach, making it a really nice spot for a sundowner. The service is also friendly and attentive. However, the food at Zizo Lounge is a definite letdown. The rice was incredibly bad in my opinion, the sauces seemed heavily loaded with MSG, and overall, much of it was far too sweet. It has little to do with authentic Japanese or Asian cuisine, in my opinion. If you're primarily looking for a great location and a drink at sunset, this is the place for you. Don't go there for the food; there are better options. So: It's an option – but not a must-visit.

ZIZO Restaurant Zandvoort A super nice place to eat! The sushi was really delicious and fresh. We were received very warmly by the staff and immediately felt welcome. The service and hospitality were truly top-notch! It was especially nice that, for a fee, they still had glasses available to watch the solar eclipse, whereas they were sold out everywhere else. A nice extra that made our visit complete. In short: highly recommended if you want to enjoy a good meal in Zandvoort! 🍣😊

Food is ok but not worth the price

We came here to celebrate my sister's birthday with my mother, my sister, and me, because my sister has been a regular guest for years and was always very enthusiastic about the quality of the food and the friendly service. She wanted to share that experience with us. Unfortunately, our experience this time was completely different. Not even twenty minutes after we had sat down and had just finished our starter, we were asked if we were done eating. When we indicated that this was only the starter, we were told that the kitchen was closing. It was only a quarter past eight at that moment. We were quite shocked by this and felt incredibly rushed. We had to order everything at once, which completely ruined the relaxed evening out we had hoped for. Additionally, the waiter seemed irritated and looked at us several times as if he just wanted to go home. We did not feel welcome or treated like guests at all. This was especially disappointing for my sister, because she had always been so enthusiastic about the friendly staff, the personal attention, and the excellent service she had experienced here for years. We have no complaints about the food itself. The dishes were tasty and beautifully presented. However, a restaurant visit is about more than just the food. During the meal, no one came to ask if everything was to our liking or if we wanted another drink. Even the soy sauce was not served with the sushi as standard; we had to ask for it ourselves. When paying the bill, we indicated that we found it very annoying that, despite having a reservation, we were told within twenty minutes that we had to order the last round. Instead of an apology, we were only given the explanation that it was a quiet evening and that the kitchen closes earlier then. We found that a very strange reason, especially since it had not been communicated beforehand. I don't mind spending a considerable amount on a dinner, but I do expect hospitality and service in return. Unfortunately, that was completely lacking this evening. Sadly, this was our last time at Zizo Lounge.

Had a wonderful experience! All the servers were very nice and professional! They were all very spontaneous, and it is also very neat and located by the sea! The food was also truly delicious! I specifically want to thank Nova, Wessel, and Tonya for their great service!)

We were thrilled again this year during our visit. I highly recommend it to all lovers of high-quality Japanese delicacies. The dishes are prepared and presented with exquisite skill and artistry. The sushi selection is small but perfectly formed, offering something for everyone. The kitchen also offers other Japanese delicacies. On Tuesdays, there are additional vegan options. The Wagyu beef carpaccio melts in your mouth and is a true culinary delight. The drinks menu offers a well-balanced selection of delicious wines and cocktails. The service staff is friendly and attentive without being intrusive and speaks several languages. The interior is harmonious, clean-lined, slightly cool, yet also cozy. It's important to me that the seating remains comfortable even after two hours. Unfortunately, ZIZO is much too far from where I live, so I only have the opportunity to enjoy this culinary experience when I'm on vacation. However, the bill should be checked; ours was incorrect four times.

Highly recommended, delicious sushi in many different flavors and the black cod is definitely recommended, but the menu is extensive anyway and there is something for everyone. Worth a repeat visit.

A truly top-notch experience at Zizo Lounge! We were greeted by the sweetest man ever; he is from Bosnia and was incredibly friendly and hospitable. You felt welcome immediately. The food was top-notch, everything tasted delicious and was well-prepared. Everything was also perfectly organized and the other staff were super friendly. If you order vegetarian sushi, be warned that it contains caviar and salmon… We ordered sushi for home delivery while on vacation – the vegetarian sushi contained caviar and even some salmon. After we called, the man said he was sorry, that we would receive a replacement, and that we should have returned it (there was no field to indicate this when ordering online). When the replacement arrived, it also contained caviar in the rice, so we complained again. We received a refund… and they admitted that the chef doesn't clean his knife! Thanks to the delivery man who diligently drove back and forth, but if we had known this, we would have skipped our sushi date!

We strolled along the Zandvoort boulevard for a bit and suddenly spotted a sort of sushi bar on the ground floor of a large hotel. We were tired and wanted to sit down for a bite to eat and a drink. We picked a table by the window with a stunning sea view. A super-friendly waiter from Bosnia (I think Alem?), with whom we had a great laugh, really spoiled us, along with bartender Floris. All the dishes were truly next level; I am a sushi freak, and we were served real coarsely chopped wasabi root from Japan, not that green-colored horseradish grater sold everywhere as wasabi. The first time in my life REAL wasabi, as it is almost impossible to get except at the Okura, and tears in my eyes because of the taste sensation. All the dishes were exceptionally good, especially the Big Fat Bastard Kara-age and the unagi eel. Most of the sushi was uramaki (inside out), but they specially made me makisushi tuna with the nori on the outside. A small pitcher of warm Ozeki sake for €8, very decent. In short, divine food, super cool staff with humor, and an overwhelming setting. I'll be back, guys! Unexpectedly good value for money too. Thanks from Frank to the whole team!

We ate sushi à la carte for the first time instead of all-you-can-eat, and it was absolutely worth it. The atmosphere was very pleasant and we were well assisted by the staff. We were recommended a suitable wine that paired perfectly with the food. The sushi itself was delicious and of clearly higher quality than at all-you-can-eat restaurants — a really big difference. All in all, a very nice experience that is definitely worth repeating.

My favorite sushi spot in Zandvoort!

We had to wait a long time at the entrance without being greeted. Inside, the music was very loud – more like a club than a relaxed dining experience. The overall quality of the food was very poor and completely disproportionate to the prices – frankly, it was borderline unacceptable. In our opinion, the main course was even spoiled, as the fish tasted rotten and musty, and we sent it back. We left. In short: all show, very little quality/quantity – and far too expensive for what it was.

The food was really good, although there wasn't much of it on my plate. The prices were fine for the quality, view and amount. I got the wagyu burgers and they were really good, even though I didn't like the 3rd one. It was a bit dry to my taste. The sushi tasted fresh and creamy though. I was gonna put a 4 as for the review but they gave me a fortune cookie. I will forever keep the note in my phonecase. The waiters and service was amazing and they looked so eager to serve my food! They were so nice to us too. To be honest I do recommend this restaurant. It was overall a great experience!

The sushi was delicious and fresh, and the view was fantastic. Unfortunately, we waited over an hour for our food, and no one asked if we wanted anything else to drink. Furthermore, the table wasn't clean, and the individual prices on the bill didn't match those on the menu; some items were 50 cents extra. So, unfortunately, our high expectations weren't really met.

At first glance, the restaurant makes a solid impression, but in retrospect, it becomes clear that the service was very slow and some dishes were forgotten. The staff, however, are definitely friendly. We also waited over an hour for our food… and then, unfortunately, it arrived cold. That's a real shame, as the ambiance was fantastic. The steak wasn't really up to the quality of a proper Wagyu. Ultimately, it's fair to say that the restaurant offers more style than substance.

Super overrated. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks twice, which they were supposed to eventually take off the bill, but wasn't processed correctly when settling. The meat dishes and skewers were lukewarm and completely unremarkable. Instead of a carefree evening, we got an evening full of irritations from poor service and mediocre food. A real shame. There are much better and nicer places to eat in Zandvoort!

The ambiance was truly fabulous, a beautiful restaurant with great decor. However, we quickly noticed the limited menu selection, as well as the absence of the complimentary drink offered by the hotel for each guest. Furthermore, one of the waiters was incredibly unfriendly and treated us condescendingly and arrogantly, which led us to order very little and leave the restaurant as quickly as possible due to the uncomfortable feeling we, as German tourists, were given. In my opinion, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The prices are far too high for the service provided. On top of that, the sushi we ordered was really not good. Hopefully, this will be improved in the future and not repeated.

Pricey, but also high quality. The extensive menu with so much choice it was hard to choose. We tried various types of sushi and kimchi gyozas, and our table companions also had the Wagu burger with sweet potato fries. The white chocolate cake and matcha dessert is highly recommended. They also offer a wide variety of Japanese drinks, from plum wine to yuzu soda. Furthermore, the service is friendly and the view of the sea is stunning.

What a joy it is to come back here. We've been coming here for years, usually around our daughter's birthday, and the food is truly delicious. The location remains special in that unassuming hotel, but perhaps that adds to the surprise. Today, the service was also top-notch. Balloons for my daughter, a dessert with her age, and such cheerful and friendly service. We're fans!

We had a delicious meal at Zizo in Zandvoort. The carpaccio, sushi, and tuna tacos were especially memorable. They were fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. The rest of the menu was excellent, but these dishes definitely made the visit worthwhile. The restaurant also has a lovely atmosphere; we will definitely be back.

We dined at ZIZO Lounge for the first time, and we were pleasantly surprised. Our server gave us a warm welcome and found us a great table. We then received advice about portion sizes and the fact that we could order multiple rounds. At the server's recommendation, we ordered the Tuna Truffle Treasure, even though I'm not a fan of tuna. However, this tuna was so fresh that I loved it. Throughout the evening, we received excellent service, and the server was very accommodating to our tastes. After trying several new dishes, we left the restaurant with full bellies and a great experience. The server truly made our evening. We will definitely be back.

I visited this bar-restaurant for dinner with friends, and we had a fantastic evening. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed. The dishes were original and flavorful, with fresh ingredients and surprising combinations. The service was friendly and efficient, despite the crowd. The cocktails were creative and excellently prepared. The decor was modern and atmospheric, with warm colors and pleasant lighting. The music was well-chosen and set the right mood. Everything felt perfectly coordinated. The prices were reasonable for the quality offered. This will definitely become one of our regular spots.

Nice People Top Service And super nice food

Sushi is averagely good. Served with a cup of dry ice for a steamy effect. The ambiance is very nice. The staff are very friendly and try to compensate for the lack of (falling apart) menus. Prices are unfortunately a bit excessive for the overall experience, in my opinion. A mixed overall impression.

That's my 5th visit to Zizo. The first time posting negative review. Food was amazing as usual, best Sushi in NL. Service was awful. 1- asked for a specific dish from waitress, she promised to check, but never came back to that topic 2- we've got rolls and had no sticks/soya sauce and had to run after waitress for that. Then they brought just those. No even one napkin. 3- in advance I asked a waiter to bring a bday (surprise) dessert for my friend. After 20 min nothing. So we were sitting with empty table and I had to keep my friend from paying. Strange pause. I came to the waiter another time.. overall 1 hour of waiting for a piece of cake from the moment I asked first. And the plate went in front of me, but not the person who had birthday. What a shame. For sure won't visit the place for celebrations anymore.

Nice atmosphere, but the food quality and service need to be improved

We arrived at the Zizo Lounge with little knowledge or experience. We let the "Sir" choose the dishes, and that was the best thing we could have done. The staff explained the dishes again as they were served. Simply fantastic. The individual dishes were phenomenal. All in all, a great experience and worth every penny.

Nice ambiance, lousy service. We waited 1.5 hours for our food. The servers were friendly but dressed for a different occasion. This restaurant's appearance isn't much more than it seems.

Our visit yesterday was absolutely wonderful! We had a window seat with a sea view. The restaurant felt very luxurious, and the staff (especially the blonde lady) were very friendly and super accommodating. We had a wonderful evening and would recommend the restaurant if you want to experience a luxurious evening by the beach. They also had a fantastic and extensive menu for Vegan Tuesday, which we loved :)

Located directly on the beach promenade, the restaurant often offers spectacular sunsets and ocean views. The decor is a bit dated, but it suited us. The drinks and food are expected to be on the higher end, but very good. Wait times are reasonable.

Fifteen of us had a wonderful meal at ZIZO Lounge in Zandvoort, a cozy shared-dining concept. The dishes arrived promptly, there was more than enough, and no one had to wait. Everything was fresh and delicious, although some people felt the chicken and beef could have been a bit more seasoned. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Definitely recommended for a fun night out!

On the doorstep of the illustrious, or rather, illusion-ridden, establishment Zizo Lounge, we didn't just starve—we received a lesson in inequality. For thirty minutes, we stood there, reservations and all, like obedient subjects. Then a couple showed up, without a reservation, without the slightest preparation, and what happened? They were welcomed in like royal guests and stationed at the bar for a warm welcome drink. We, the rightful holders of a reservation, received only an irritated order: "Wait outside until your table is ready." This isn't gastronomy anymore; this is the feudalism of food service. Zizo Lounge has betrayed the foundations of hospitality and transformed into an arbitrary oligarchy where privileges are handed out based on whims, not rights. NOT RECOMMENDED.

To round off our long weekend, we all decided to eat here. Delicious sushi, served in a beautiful bowl with a nice smoke effect. Excellent service too.

We were in a wonderful restaurant - the evening was 100% a success! The sushi was simply amazing, some of the best we've tried. The atmosphere was cozy, stylish, with pleasant music, everything was conducive to relaxation and enjoyment. The service was top notch - attentive, friendly staff. The food was impeccable, each serving was like a work of art. We had a great evening and would be happy to come back again. We sincerely recommend it to everyone!

This was by far the best sushi we've ever eaten – super fresh and beautifully presented. The location is also really nice: They opened large windows so you had a direct view of the sea while eating – just a wonderful, relaxed holiday feeling.🌊 The drinks were also excellent and the taste was perfectly balanced. Sure, the prices are a bit higher, but every euro is absolutely worth it. I'd particularly like the tuna sushi, which I don't usually like that much – but here it was amazing! The waiter recommended it to us, and it was truly a hit. The service was generally super warm and attentive – they even gave us a freebie at the end, which we were very happy about. For dessert, I highly recommend the chocolate tart – it's a dream!🍰

Had a fantastic experience. My daughter celebrated her birthday and received special attention. My son has a gluten allergy, and they were very accommodating. Excellent service, beautiful view. Absolutely nothing to complain about. It's a shame we live 170 km from Zandvoort, otherwise we would have come more often.

Nice Restaurant, the vibe is chill, the music selection is amazing and the view onto the sea is good. Drinks are nicely prepared. Food took too long. We waited over an hour after ordering while people who showed up 30min after us received their food already. The staff also leaves something to be desired as we had to "fight" for attention. But as soon as we had said attention the staff was nice. Prices are over all valid.

When the weather's good, the large window front is open, which is great on one hand, but on the other hand, you can catch all the commotion on the beach path directly in front. The service is superficial and lacking in enthusiasm. The food doesn't live up to expectations. You can sense that there's little leadership. It was nice—but nothing more.

A real highlight in Zandvoort! The Zizo Lounge Sushi Restaurant not only impresses with excellent sushi, but also with a stylish, Instagrammable ambience. The service is attentive and friendly, small highlights such as dry ice mist and fountains during dessert make the visit special. If you are in Zandvoort, you should definitely stop by here!
