What a wonderful surprise! An extremely friendly and funny host, and it's nice that the chef also pops in for a chat. The food is carefully prepared, and the various dishes provide a varied meal. The fact that it's entirely vegetarian doesn't detract from the flavor; it's more of a compliment.

It's always a pleasure to eat here. Damaris is a fantastic cook and Joris the pleasant and cheerful host. The other staff are also very friendly. You eat what is available and a different menu every week, which means it is always surprising. Don't like something? Then Damaris will make something else for you without any problems. My favorite healthiest city snack in a beautiful spot in the heart of Zaltbommel. Falafal sandwich. Wonderfully fresh and filled with delicious topping. You can also enjoy a lovely Sunday morning here breakfast/brunch. Joris is always cheerful. This is how your weekend starts well!

We had a wonderful meal. The dishes are beautifully seasoned and each has its own unique flavor. Everything is very relaxed. We felt very welcome. The acoustics are very quiet, so the conversations of other guests weren't disturbing.

I'm thrilled that I can finally take friends to a restaurant in Zaltbommel that I fully support. Joris and Damaris' hospitality feels like coming home. And what I really appreciate: all the dishes are plant-based. Finally, a restaurant in Zaltbommel that doesn't contribute to the horrific animal suffering in the meat and dairy industry. One more thing: I see an unfounded review here from C vB... that's a fake account that deliberately spreads hate and falsehoods. It's sad that there are people trying to smear the life's work of kind, hardworking people. Not that it works, because everyone I talk to is so complimentary about À-la-Damaris. And that's absolutely justified!

The atmosphere was very grim, and the staff was also very unpleasant. I'd heard many good things, but it was a huge disappointment; the staff seemed completely uninterested. I highly recommend eating here. A very unpleasant experience for my husband and I, who have just celebrated 12 and a half years of marriage. The food was also disappointing. You could have easily made a microwave meal from Albert Heijn yourself. There was also a hair in my chickpea soup.

Wat een leuk restaurant is dit! Na een enorm gastvrije ontvangst door Joris werd ons aan tafel het weekmenu uitgelegd. Je eet wat de pot schaft. Vier gangen, en elk gerecht heerlijk en met liefde bereid door Damaris. TOP eten TOP sfeer, we komen zeker terug!

A very special place. Delicious food and the host and hostess are very nice people. It's like coming home for dinner with someone. They really take the time for you and also have a nice chat. The food was delicious, flavors we had never tasted before. Everything is fresh and you can taste it. Definitely worth it if you want an evening of delicious food with flavors that you don't often encounter!

A wonderful Sunday afternoon experience! It's small and intimate. The three of us enjoyed a delicious lunch, consisting of a variety of hot and cold dishes. It's a very relaxed place, with no rush.

We have enjoyed Damaris’ hospitality and great cooking many times. We were never disappointed. It starts with a warm welcome, like you have been best friends for life. The concept is clearly explained: there is one vegan menu and that is what you will have. You can go there if you enjoy vegan food, often inspired by the Middle East, but never restricted to any boundaries. Damaris is a free spirit! Last night we thoroughly enjoyed our exquisite menu, the fine Château Ksara Merwah wine from the Bekaa valley in Lebanon and the warm hospitality of Damaris, Joris and staff. We hope to rerurn many times to enjoy the fine experience with our friends.

We had a fantastic meal! What nice and sweet people, Damaris and Joris both took the time to serve us personally and explain the food. It was also wonderful that we didn't have to worry about choosing and the dishes had already been put together for us. We will definitely come back here again! :)

Super nice, cozy and delicious food here! The fixed and vegan 3-course menu, with mainly local organic products, is really delicious! The host and hostess (also a cook) were born for the profession and will pamper you completely. The atmosphere is very warm and cozy. I will 100% come back!

Last Sunday we ate a delicious mezze, first 6 cold dishes and then 6 hot dishes. It was great and the hostess, who took the time to chat extensively with the guests, was super nice. Highly recommended.

We have never felt so welcome anywhere as at Damaris. This is a very special experience. Everyone is welcomed like royalty. You get fantastic food. Individual attention. Truly as if you were family. It's not big, but sooooo worth it. All restaurants can learn a lot from this. Thank you Damaris and Joris and your radiant kind help. Secretly become one of my favorite restaurants. Simply because it is delicious and surprising every time. And pleasantly busy, with good service that runs smoothly. I always leave this place with a lot of inspiration. What you can't already do with vegetables. Delicious. 1 disadvantage, it is almost always full, probably because it is so good😉.

Had a business lunch at Damaris yesterday. Excellently organised, delicious food and we were (as always) warmly welcomed. I also eat at Damaris more often in private, it is special to see that the food is always tasty, usually has unique flavors and that they always manage to cook completely new dishes. So compliments to the team, we hope to see you again soon!

Sunday afternoon lunch, what a nice concept in a Middle Eastern atmosphere. Food was plenty and delicious. Good informal atmosphere and clean. As a vegan I recommend this restaurant.

Phew this is the worst thing that has happened to me in a long time. The food was soggy and the cutlery dirty. The manager thought that this should be possible because his staff is not used to anything else. There was also an anti-Jewish atmosphere.

In one word: Awesome (with a capital G!)!! Wow what a fantastic place! My boyfriend and I were in Zaltbommel for our house hunt and we thought it would be fun to have a bite to eat here and then explore the city. But the atmosphere was so good and the food great that we ended up spending the entire evening at a la Damaris. We had a really nice evening and haven't had such a good meal in a long time (even though we also really love cooking, good food and traveling...)! Thank you Joost & Damaris! Delicious 4-course menu in a cozy restaurant. Intimate atmosphere, nice personal contact with the owners. Nice to hear their story. We loved that you don't have to decide for yourself what you want to eat. Delicious flavors, the love for food was palpable!

We had already heard some good stories, so we were very curious. Very nice owners! Pleasant Lebanese music in the background. Starters were very tasty: soup, tabuleh, delicious dish with beetroot and nuts. Creatively! We thought the main course was simple, taste was good: rice with satay. Stuffed artichoke was disappointing in terms of taste, who knows if others have enjoyed it? Dessert was (sorry) a joke: it had to be white chocolate ice cream with nutmeg cake. We didn't taste any nutmeg and the ice cream was really just plain vanilla ice cream to our taste. Shame. The wine was 7 euros per glass, which I think was on the pricey side, but unfortunately very flat in taste. The highlight was the dessert wine (I thought I would finish it well!): the gentleman actually poured 3 sips, for which they charged 6 euros. I thought he'd let me taste it, but no, it was the size of a small liqueur. Then you are really wrong, you don't serve dessert wine like that. All in all a disappointment for us unfortunately.

A-la-Damaris is a nice restaurant. We had a very nice meal. There is a fixed weekly menu so you can eat something different than what you always choose. All dishes come from the Arab world and are prepared with care and the plates are beautifully presented. We highly recommend this restaurant!

We ate at A-La-Damaris quite by chance and really enjoyed everything - the atmosphere - the written daily menu - super quality of the menu - the cozy atmosphere - the involved owners - the nice restaurant => yes, coincidentally, I thought that my forgotten scarf was still there - but no, it later turned out to be at home. How wonderful this accidental enjoyment of a finely composed menu!!! Thank you.

Echt ontzettend genoten van de gerechten. Ook de service was heel goed. Erg vriendelijke mensen. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar! Alles is vegan en met mijn lactose intolerantie was het heerlijk alles van de gerechten te kunnen eten.

Voor de tweede keer betrad ik afgelopen vrijdag A- La -Damaris in Zaltbommel . Ook dit keer maar nu alleen samen met mijn zoon Vincent. Een cadautje van mij voor zijn verjaardag . Vincent komt daar zeer regelmatig en blijkt een welgeziene gast. Onmiddellijk bij binnenkomst wordt je gastvrij en met een zeer persoonlijk tintje verwelkomd...Daar is Vincent en mam....klinkt het vrolijk en duidelijk waarbij ons tafeltje wordt aangewezen door onze gastheer. Vanuit het openkeuken gedeelte schenkt ook onze gastvrouw haar stralende welkoms lach. De energie en de liefde voor hun vak is direct voelbaar. Omvat ons als een op de huid passende warme jas. Wat is het fijn hier gast te zijn. Het doet mij denken aan de eerste keer dat ik er mijn verjaardag vierde. De interesse in wie zij voor zich hebben.Hun eigen verhaal hoe het allemaal is ontstaan...Hun missie...hun visie.... Een boek wat je mag uitkiezen..en geheimen uit verschillende vegankeukens onthult. De geuren doen ons watertanden...We praten heerlijk bij en ik voel dat ik enorm veel trek krijg in het menu wat ons aangereikt wordt. We kunnen achterover leunen want we hoeven niet te kiezen...Alleen maar ons te laten verwennen met wat komen gaat. Arabische invloeden. Het goudkleuig bestek. De mooie theepotten. Het servies...goudkleurig sfeervol behang. De entourage ademt sfeer en liefde, datgene wat mdeze lieve creatieve bijzondere mensen met je willen delen. En hoe slagen ze daar wel in..De schaaltjes met heerlijk voedzaam geurende voedsel wordt met uitleg over welke ingredienten er in zitten aan tafel gebracht . Dan begint het teasen en verwennen van onze smaakpapillen. En god wat smaakt het ...we proeven het pittige, het zoete, we proeven de kruiden, de groenten, fruit, de vijgen als in een perfecte uitgevoerde dans in onze mond....we zijn stil en ervaren.....en ik kan volmondig Vincent zijn opmerking beamen. Amazing place. Friendly, approachable staff and delicious food.

Komen hier regelmatig er is geen menukaart maar eten wat de pot schaft. Je hoeft zeker geen veganist te zijn om hier binnen te stappen. Door geweldige kookkunsten en toveren met de kruiden en overige ingrediënten is het voortreffelijk eten zonder vlees, vis of zuivel. En zeker de moeite waard om eens te proberen. Vriendelijk personeel, je voelt je daar snel thuis.

A very nice restaurant! This was my first full vegan dining experience, after having vegetarian meals every now and then. And I was not disappointed! I had a very delicious dinner! Although the concept makes sure every time you have a different meal. So keep in mind this review was based on a one time experience. Nonetheless I really liked the food and experience! I didn’t like the very few options for drinks. As non alcoholic beverages you have very expensive fruit drinks 7€ for 200ml, quite expensive compared to the dinner it self. I would like to have a cheaper drink next time!

Cinco estrellas para comida, servicio y buen ambiente. Sin duda una buena elección que no pasó inadvertida. Si buscas comida vegetariana y un trato excelente y cercano este es tu sitio.

Heerlijke vegetarisch gerechten

Lekker eten, gastvrije ontvangst, ontspannen sfeer, goed concept. Per week een nieuw, vast veganistisch menu, met voornamelijk Arabische/Midden-Oosterse smaken... heerlijk. Goede Libanese wijnen bij de gerechten en lekkere, feestelijke mocktails als je geen alcohol wilt. Heerlijk ijs en cake toe... Koffie of thee met lekkers om af te sluiten. Mooie avond gehad!

Erg gastvrij en lekkere gerechten. Restaurant erg populair. Je merkt dat prijs wat omhoog gaat en creativiteit van de gerechten wat minder wordt. Maar dat is ook wel te verwachten na enige tijd. Maar toch jammer.

On her own (à-la-damaris) way... View a menu first? No. Man has to wait to see what is cooked. So really a surprise menu. And then a table companion, who just chooses not to look at the menu for this day, written in beautiful handwriting, but really wants to be surprised by the dishes and flavors. That's quite a step to get to the table like this. But what a beautiful memory was made. Why? By opting for quality in dishes, where the flavors are put central, accompanied by really appropriated wine pairing and a very personal twist in the service, just really attention for your guests. Time does not play a role; the table is for you, noone before or after you. It was a first visit, but certainly not the last!

Fantastisch gegeten! Elke week een ander menu met heel veel zorg samengesteld. Echt alles even lekker. Fijne en aardige bediening. We hadden een geweldige avond, voelde feestelijk en verwend.

Met mijn broer vandaag naar dit restaurant geweest. Leuke sfeer, knus& gezellig en lekker eten waar ik niet bekend mee was. Vooral van het voorgerecht vond ik de soep uitmuntend! Prijs kwaliteit prima. Voor mijzelf iets te weinig eten (maar dat komt omdat ik sowieso veel eet & sport en weinig vooraf gegeten had. 1 van de eigenaren gaf aan dat ik nog extra kon krijgen, heel aardig gebaar, maar niet nodig! We hadden eerlijk gezegd ook een beetje verkeken op de tijd. Daarna nog naar het zwembad geweest. Al met al een top avond!)

I arrived with my gf and we were welcomed by the owner Joris. He was super lovely and helpful. Food and service on point. We walked out happy and food comotosed. Worth every euros! Gastvrij ontvangen, en het eten was heerlijk. Zeker een aanrader. Wij komen zeker nog een keer terug om bij jullie eten. Het uurtje rijden vanuit Oegstgeest is meer dan waard.

Een hele amicale sfeer, gemoedelijk en toch professioneel, mooie gerechten, open keuken leuk contact met de chef de cuisine, Damaris. Wij hebben bijzonder genoten van dit familie restaurant en zullen zeker weer snel terug zijn. Reserveren is een must gezien de snel toenemende populariteit. Als je van huiselijk eten smaakvol en veganistisch houdt is dit een must. Update 02032023 nog dezelfde gemoedelijke sfeer en verrassend menu.

Wij hebben hier heerlijk gegeten! Hele bijzondere gerechten met unieke smaak, echt een aanrader. Ook was het personeel super vriendelijk en gastvrij. Ik kom zeker terug als ik weer in de buurt ben.

Een verstopt pareltje! Voor mijn verjaardag wilde mijn vriend me meenemen naar een mediterraans vegan restaurant, zo zijn we hier gekomen. Het eten was ontzettend lekker, met verrassende smaken. Toen ons bord leeg was voelde de ober aan dat we eigenlijk stiekem nog wel wat lustten, dus kregen we zomaar extra! Het hele restaurant krijgt hetzelfde menu, wat ik ontzettend charmant vind. De prosecco was trouwens ook heerlijk! De bediening is super gastvrij en enthousiast en we hebben hele leuke gesprekken gehad! Ik kan het echt iedereen aanraden, mijn verjaardag was compleet en we komen zeker nog een keertje terug voor de uitgebreide Mezze lunch op zondag.
