Very centrally located (market square), pleasant outdoor area, somewhat upscale standard and prices, but justified by the excellent quality and taste, flexible with children's requests, fast and friendly service. Even on a Saturday at lunchtime, a group of five can get a table without a reservation. Highly recommended!

The food was perfect. We got the truffle pasta, the funghi al mantecato (which was really nice) and a salad. I didnt expect an italian Restaurant to have vegan options, but our server Adam made it work by just cutting out the cheese☺️ 10/10 experience! Would recommend. I would definitly visit again👍

The Pizza Al Mercato was one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten, a really great combination. The drinks are a bit pricey, but they definitely don't skimp on the alcohol, and they're very generous. The service was friendly and attentive. Seating inside is preferable; the restaurant is air-conditioned and has a very pleasant and inviting atmosphere.

Second time at Al Mercato! The first time was already a fond memory, but this time was even better! The food is generous, original, and refined. We ordered several dishes to share. The service is excellent, from the bright and cheerful waitress and the very pleasant waiter to the French-speaking student. It's a great place that I highly recommend, with a lovely terrace overlooking the square. We had a wonderful time! Congratulations!

i’m FRUSTRATED. the waitress was nice, the food was decent (but really overpriced), and the atmosphere was nice. if you’re prepared to wait almost an HOUR, come eat here. we were starving after a long day, and came to eat here, expecting it to be an okay restaurant, considering all the good reviews, but we sat down, a really nice waitress took our orders, then we waited for FIFTY MINUTES. there is NO excuse for making us wait so long. the cherry on top was how incredibly overpriced everything turned out to be after eating. pasta and pizza should not cost anything over 20€ each. not to mention how small some of the portions were.

We have absolutely no complaints about the food. 🍕👏 The service was also very friendly, attentive, and courteous. We immediately felt welcome and were very well looked after. The interior ambiance is very pleasant and cozy. Outside, the furniture is rather basic and nothing special, but there's always something to look at, so it's still enjoyable. It's a little cramped in places, but that didn't really detract from our experience. Our dog was also warmly welcomed, which we appreciated. 🐶 All in all, we had a wonderful visit and felt very comfortable. We can absolutely recommend this pizzeria, especially because of the truly excellent pizza. If you like good Neapolitan pizza, this is definitely the place to go! 🍕❤️

Had such a lovely experience at this Italian restaurant in Maastricht! The people were so warm and welcoming, and they were really nice to talk to. I had the lasagna, while my friend had a pizza, and honestly, both were really good. I especially loved that the meat was halal, which is always a big plus for me. The food was so tasty, and I really enjoyed the whole experience. Definitely coming back to try it again!

It was one of the best Margherita pizzas I've ever eaten—if not the best! I don't know about the pasta; we only had pizza. It's probably not cheap. But the atmosphere inside is fantastic.

We had a delicious meal yesterday. The food was very tasty and served quickly. The staff was very nice and friendly.

There were two of us for lunch. My 16-year-old daughter had gnocchi with mushrooms and truffles. I had the beef fillet in red wine sauce, medium-rare, with the sauce served separately. The gnocchi were excellent. The sauce was decent, but nothing special. And it was even a bit too little for my daughter. She wasn't satisfied. Two or three more gnocchi would have been appropriate for the price. The fillet was of very good quality. Unfortunately, as is so often the case in the Netherlands, it was cooked medium-rare. This has happened to us three times this month. Nevertheless, the fillet was delicious. The sauce didn't come out quite separate. However, this wasn't a problem because it tasted really good. The red wine wasn't overpowering. The side dish was pasta with tomatoes in garlic oil with a touch of chili heat. Delicious. Both types of pasta were homemade. Highly recommended. I recommend the pasta dish and will gladly return. And next time, I'll give it five stars. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly. Keep it up…

I spontaneously decided to go here alone on a Monday. The outdoor seating area was quite full; apparently, many people wanted to sit outside. A table inside was fine for me. The service was multilingual, including Italian. The appetizer arrived quickly; the bruschetta pomodoro was very pleasant, with just a hint of garlic, which I appreciated. A little more olive oil would have been nice, as there wasn't any on the table, which is unusual for me in Italy. The cheap salt and pepper mills on the table were a bit of a letdown. They don't do this restaurant justice! The main course was the beef fillet with peppercorn sauce and fettuccine. Very good. A steak knife wasn't provided. For dessert, I had the classic tiramisu, which was excellent. Firm texture, a good size. Unfortunately, later on, when I ordered another drink, I was given a zero-sugar beverage, even though I hadn't asked for one. I have an intolerance to some of the ingredients. ... I would have appreciated more consistency from the service staff; I was served by three or four different people, although one young man stood out positively. Despite a few minor shortcomings, Osteria Al Mercato is recommendable, but at that price (over €70 per person!), there's room for improvement here and there.

Ask what you would like toasted and they will try to arrange it for you (within their capabilities). Tagliata di Manzo with pasta, so, so delicious. For the tiramisu, I asked to add amaretti. This was done, extra tasty (highly recommended).

We went there without any particular expectations, but it turned out to be one of the best Italian restaurant experiences we've ever had. The location on the square, with its hourly chimes, is very open and shaded from the sun. We didn't eat inside, so unfortunately, I can only comment on the outdoor seating. The appetizers, bruschetta and carpaccio, were surprisingly good. The bruschetta dough alone was outstanding. The pizzas were generously topped and tasted fantastic! Even though we were already quite full, the quality of the food tempted us to order dessert. Thankfully! The soufflé and tiramisu were exceptionally good! The coffee and espresso were also delicious. Finally, the truly outstanding service deserves a mention. Many restaurants could learn a thing or two from them. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

The artichoke salad was canned; I had expected fresh. The pasta filled with ossobucco didn't have much flavor. I have eaten Ossobucco before; it is very rich and flavorful, but I think this filling was just ground beef.

Been tonight to this restaurant, ordered house’s pizza and it was very good. The dough was airy and a healthy amount of cheese (personally I’d ask for extra), and the pizza with vegetables was a bit creamy, the restaurant should consider adding a sour ingredient to reach the perfect balance. The service was amazing, I asked to change seats and the waiter assisted me and my boyfriend with a smile. The experience was amazing, actually really liked pizza.

We received a very warm welcome and were able to choose our preferred table on the terrace. Since we couldn't decide between the Pizza Parma and the Pizza Al Mercato, we simply ordered both and shared them. We were particularly surprised by how quickly the pizzas were served. Even better, however, was the taste: both pizzas were excellent and truly delicious. The service was also exceptionally friendly and attentive. When we asked for tips on things to do in Maastricht, they even took the time to give us some recommendations. All in all, a wonderful visit with great food and warm service. We'll definitely be back! 😊

Excellent food and drinks. They upped the L'Osteria-type restaurant to the next level. The ambiance is great for a dinner for two or a larger group of people. The interior design is great. If I had to make a suggestion, increase the ambient light a bit; the table lamps do not provide enough light to cover the table and show what's on my plate.

Cozy terrace and friendly staff. Centrally located on the market square in Maastricht. The staff has an eye for detail and presentation. The customer comes first, and you are addressed in the language you are accustomed to, which can be Dutch, French, German, or Italian. Slightly more expensive than average, but you get better quality.

We were very disappointed by the way we were treated in the restaurant. Although we did not have a reservation, there were several empty tables available the entire time we were there. We were repeatedly told to wait for a table in every course, but in the end we were still left at the bar next to empty tables in the restaurant. The food was good, and we appreciate that, but unfortunately the service and the way the situation was handled made us feel not respected as customers.

Yesterday I visited the restaurant, and honestly, it was phenomenal in every way. The food was perfect, and I honestly didn't expect to find such a perfect Italian restaurant in a small town, but we were truly fortunate in our choice. Our order included a pumpkin salad, which was nice and light but nothing special (7/10), truffle pasta (a million out of ten and worth coming back for), and an eggplant and olive pizza, which was delicious and very unique (8/10). We made a reservation, so I recommend you make one before you come. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful.

Don’t come here for a cheap night, but BOY is the food amazing. Staff was very kind and was happy to share all the insides about how they keep improving their food. Pizza was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the tiramisu was even better. My boyfriend still dreams about Al Mercato’s tiramisu.

The menu feels well-thought-out and authentic, without pretense, but with courage and character. Furthermore, the staff is remarkably friendly and genuinely hospitable, which completes the experience. In my opinion, this is without a doubt the best Italian restaurant in Maastricht. Highly recommended for anyone who takes Italian food seriously.
