I haven't eaten this well in ages! Al Mercato pizza is a 12/10! Service was great, food just like in Italy. And I never usually write reviews, but this restaurant definitely deserves it!!! Wow, wow, wow

Don’t come here for a cheap night, but BOY is the food amazing. Staff was very kind and was happy to share all the insides about how they keep improving their food. Pizza was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the tiramisu was even better. My boyfriend still dreams about Al Mercato’s tiramisu.

Here you'll find everything you hope for and expect from a truly good Italian restaurant: unique dishes of exceptionally high quality, freshly prepared with visible craftsmanship. The menu feels well-thought-out and authentic, without pretense, but with courage and character. Furthermore, the staff is remarkably friendly and genuinely hospitable, which completes the experience. In my opinion, this is without a doubt the best Italian restaurant in Maastricht. Highly recommended for anyone who takes Italian food seriously.

Pizza and gnocchi are absolutely delicious with wine. Prices are a bit high compared to Germany.

The food was decent, but definitely overpriced for the taste/quality. Most of the staff was friendly, but the head staff member (possibly/likely the owner) was an arrogant jerk who thought he was a bit too funny. His behavior really dampened an otherwise acceptable dining experience. This, combined with the prices being at least 20% too high, means I unfortunately cannot recommend this place.

I was with two other English-speaking women from abroad, and they were the first to go. They asked if there was a table inside. We arrived at 5:00 PM. Reservations were available from 6:00 PM onwards, so we decided to sit outside. After half an hour, a pasta with truffle (€29) arrived. The pasta was lukewarm/warm, not hot. Within 5 minutes, it was cold outside. The portion was disproportionately small for €29 and not particularly tasty. The pizza was good, though. I then paid inside after 6:00 PM, and most of the tables were still empty; there were no reserved signs on the table. I get the feeling that because the restaurant saw these two women as tourists, they simply wanted to keep the tables inside. I'm very angry about this. Don't eat here; it's really not worth your money.

We were in Maastricht for the day and ate here with a group of 17. The service was incredibly attentive and professional. The menu offers something for everyone: fish, meat, pizza, and pasta. The meat was cooked to perfection, just as requested. The pizzas were generously topped, and the pasta dishes were substantial and made with high-quality ingredients. Many thanks to the team!

The food is good and the price-quality ratio is acceptable. However, I gave it 4 stars because it's very noisy and the tables are too close together. The servers are professional, but the service is slow. Furthermore, the restrooms are not accessible for people with reduced mobility as you have to go upstairs. Perhaps there are other restrooms on the ground floor, but I didn't see them.

I meant to revisit Don Vito, but he was closed, so I landed at Al Mercato Osteria instead. The name Al Mercato Osteria promises a market-side tavern, the kind of place where you’d expect generous plates, noise, and the comfort of a well-seasoned ragù. Instead, it’s a polished dining room with mood lighting, curated playlists, and prices that remind you this market has a velvet rope. The signature pappardelle al ragù looked the part, the pasta perfectly al dente, but the sauce was all form, no flavor. A dash of salt and character wouldn’t have hurt. At €29 for a portion that vanished faster than the taste, it’s hard not to feel the name is the most rustic thing about the place.

We had a delicious meal here, in a very nicely decorated restaurant, beautiful furniture - nice surroundings.

We were there for dinner. As an Italian, I consider an osteria a place for the working class, so I expect good, home-style cooking, handed down from my grandmother's old recipes. Now I'm sitting in uncomfortable chairs and don't know what to do with my legs... when the pizza arrives, unfortunately, it's not cooked all the way through... my penne al votka is okay. Unfortunately, I have to mention that the osteria atmosphere is lacking... call it a restaurant, and it could be okay, and find more motivated staff. I know it's difficult, but that's what makes it special...

The interior was truly beautiful, creating a real dining vibe. The staff was super friendly, and I ordered the pasta with red pesto, as recommended by the server, and it was delicious! Melanzane was truly yummy, and the pizzas... delicious too! So, for a fun date night or an evening with friends, this is a great place, and they have scropino!

The order was ready quickly, but the portions were small for the price. We also found the drinks quite expensive: €4 for a small bottle of water. That's probably due to the restaurant's location, which is a good thing.

The truffle pizza was flavorless. We had to add salt and pepper ourselves, and the truffle was nowhere to be found. The pizza was nicely decorated with chanterelles, and the dough was good, but it lacked flavor. Then came the pasta puttanesa with tuna tartare. The pasta was way overcooked, and we couldn't taste any anchovies. We therefore left it. We did get a 50% discount, but for a €27 pasta and a €24 pizza, I expected much more. Afterward, I went elsewhere for spare ribs, which were thankfully good.

We just had an excellent meal at Al Mercato! Carpaccio was our starter! Thinly sliced, just the way it should be! ☺️ For our main course, we had the chef's specialty papardelle, which was truly delicious! And the pizza buratta with pistachio was also fantastic! We took the tiramisu to go, which was also excellent! The staff is very friendly and hard-working! Highly recommended!

On a busy Saturday evening, we were fortunate enough to snag a spot on the beautiful terrace. The staff was very friendly and efficient. But the highlight of the evening was the food. Everything was very tasty and deliciously prepared. It was a shame that the pasta wasn't cooked through at the end, and the espresso martinis weren't quite cold enough. This didn't detract from a fantastic evening!

Pizzas were soggy and so uncooked that the middle became a cheesy soup like blob. Whilst eating they stacked tables/chairs around us and turned off the outside heater because they really just wanted to close (other eateries around us were still buzzing). When we gave feedback on the food when paying the bill, they boasted about their super hot pizza oven etc. and no apology, nightcap or other offer on the house to make up for it; they did not actually address the (obvious) souy mess on our plates. So dismissive. Never again.

One of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to, if not the best. I had the spaghetti vongole and a spicy salami pizza. Everything was very well cooked. And that's the important word. The pizza's tomato sauce was delicious. A small downside to the tiramisu was that it lacked coffee. In any case, I know where to come back! We highly recommend it.

We had the whipped ricotta for appetisers and spaghetti with clams and shrimps (linguine on the menu) and the Conchiglie Al Mercato as mains. The bread with the whipped ricotta came hot, they were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The ricotta, truffle, and honey combo were truly excellent. The pasta were al dente and the sauces were cooked to perfection. We loved every bite and the servers were friendly and took really good care of us. We will definitely come back to try their pizzas and gnocchi - we saw them being served to other tables and had food envy!

The terrace isn't very large, so we sat inside. The atmosphere is great with all the illuminated bottles on the wall. The staff is friendly. The pizza was decent: spicy pizza wasn't spicy, the margarita pizza was rather bland, and the Parma pizza was good. The pistachio lava cake dessert was a disappointment. I inquired about it, and it was supposed to be a cake with pistachio and white chocolate sauce. Instead, I received a flavorless, greenish cake with milk chocolate sauce. A disappointing end to the meal.

During Maastricht's Saturday market, despite the entire street being packed with food, this place was surprisingly quiet! The chairs, decor, and tableware were all quite fancy, and the prices were certainly high. We ordered octopus, two pasta dishes, and two drinks for 80 euros. The food was delicious! The only downside was that it had rained earlier that day, and while it had stopped by the time we arrived, the outdoor seating cushions were still wet...

We had personally reserved a table (for a larger group) for 8:30 p.m. When we arrived on time, we were asked to wait a few minutes because the people in front of us were just leaving. No problem! After waiting outside for a quarter of an hour and asking twice, we finally went into the restaurant, but the tables were still not available. We weren't given any further information and were simply ignored. So we ended up going to the restaurant next door. Service definitely couldn't be better.

This is a very good Italian restaurant on the Maastricht culinary map. You can feel the passion of the hosts for their cuisine and their guests. The dishes are prepared with high-quality ingredients, beautifully presented, and full of authentic Italian flavors. The service was very polite, helpful, and smiling. They made us feel welcome. The pizza was very good, with fresh toppings and a thin crust, although not entirely impressive. For example, the Truffle pizza had little truffle flavor. The Malfadina tartufo also lacked the intensity of the truffle flavor. The Linguine and Conchiglie Al Mercato were delicious. And since I love sweets, the absolute highlight of the evening for me was the Coure al pistacchio dessert, a delicate pastry with a pistachio center, generously topped with liquid, incredibly velvety milk chocolate. We paired it all with a great Italian wine, Primitivo di Manduria. It's worth noting, however, that the restaurant was very crowded on the day of André Rieu's concert, and despite making a reservation, we had to wait a while for a table. Overall, the experience was positive, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Italian flavors.

On Sunday, I went to the cellar, and at first, he was friendly. I asked if it was possible to use the bathroom. Of course, I would have paid for that. Apparently, that wasn't possible, and his friendliness vanished as if by magic. He asked me to please go to Poke Bowl next door. I could have become a customer...

Wow! I've rarely had such a delicious pizza! The Pizza Parma was generously topped, with a very thin and delicious crust! Other dishes, like the truffle pasta and the pumpkin ravioli, were also divine. The service was very friendly and welcoming, and the accompanying wine was highly recommended! We were here during the André Rieu concert, which was quite busy (we made a reservation in advance), but everything was perfectly taken care of. We will definitely go back when we visit Maastricht!

We had a great time at this restaurant. Our lovely Polish waitress was outstanding. She knew about every item on the menu and what the portions were and recommended a few appetizers to the group so we could share them amongst ourselves. We ate here with four people on the night André Rieu was performing. It was very full, which meant a slightly longer wait. The service was otherwise very good and polite. We ordered the Pizza Diavola and the Gnocchi Scampi. The pizza was good, as expected—not exceptional, but good. The Gnocchi Scampi was the highlight. The sauce was delicious, the gnocchi was well-made, and the scampi were wonderful. I would definitely recommend it! For dessert, we had the Cuore al Pistacchio. It was very tasty, especially the chocolate sauce that gave it a lovely flavor. All in all, I would definitely eat here again, but only when André isn't around!

Totally not family friendly. We left the Restaurant before ordering, because they didnt want to seat us outside eventhough we made a reservation and they had a free table outside. Probably because we came with a Baby (We mentioned the baby in the Reservation). Inside the restaurant the AC was turned on so high, It wouldve been too cold for the baby, so we had to leave.

Best restaurant in the Netherlands and super nice waiters

Way too expensive for what you get. Very simple food, and the waiter told the table next to us that the tomato sauce here is not fresh. (The table next to us had 1 person allergic to tomatoes) Only order a main course, and you leave the table hungry. Also, you sit very close to each other outside, you can literally follow the entire conversation of the table next to you. For us, definitely not a second time.

Ate here for the first time after a night of shopping in Liège, pasta carbonara was not on the menu but was still made. This was the tastiest pasta carbonara I have ever had. The atmosphere was also very nice and pleasant. We will definitely go back here to eat well.
