We made a reservation here because we thought we were securing a romantic dinner. It's an Italian restaurant, so we thought we'd go for the lasagna. Well, as you can see in the photo, the plate of lasagna doesn't look very inviting. It looks dead and boring. Eating it was even worse. The taste was there, but we ate a lump of puff pastry with sauce, without minced meat, and that cost a whopping 16.00 euros; there wasn't even a garlic bread roll or anything extra included. So, for us, it was the first and also the last time.

We had excellent service and a superb meal today. It's advisable to make a reservation, as the restaurant is very popular.

We had pizza yesterday. One pizza was very soggy on one side, as if it had been sitting on a wet spot. But anyway, the taste was fine. We ordered a glass of wine with it. The waiter asked: a crisp summer wine??? Okay. When the bill came, we were shocked. €22 for two glasses of wine. Mafia tactics, in my opinion. We looked up the wine at home and it is already being offered for €15 a bottle. Pffff. A nice way to cash in, but never again at our expense.

Delicious pasta, delicious salad, quality ingredients, super fresh, simply super tasty!

It was very disappointing. Especially the price-quality ratio. 30 euros for thick spaghetti with a few mussels and mashed tomatoes. The carbonara, however, was very good. The decor is not inviting for a second visit. The staff, though, were very friendly.

We reserved a table online for seven people, and everything was perfectly prepared when we arrived. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. A nice touch is that you order via tablets at the table instead of using a traditional menu. The wine list is very extensive, with plenty of great options to choose from. The restaurant was spotless, including the restrooms, which were exceptionally clean and very well maintained. Even the fresh hand towels showed great attention to detail. There is also plenty of indoor seating available. The food was absolutely delicious and tasted very authentic Italian. Overall, a fantastic experience that I can highly recommend. We will definitely be back!

My mom and I had an amazing time at Toscanella Apuana. The food was excellent, and the ambience was lovely as well. The service was quick and very polite. We ordered the carbonara and the pesto pasta, and we were truly impressed by both the food and the service we received. We also ordered the La Sclusa Sauvignon Blanc, which was absolutely wonderful. The chilli sauce that was served with the meal was also very nice. Even though it was a busy Friday evening, the staff still managed to seat us quite quickly. The only drawback was that the menu was on a tablet rather than on paper, which was new to us, and we would have preferred a printed menu. Still, we had an amazing time and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!

Modernly furnished restaurant. Unfortunately, the food is not of top quality and the prices and drinks are too high for the quality offered.

We ordered take away and the team was so helpful and nice, prepared everything with cutlery and plenty of napkins. We tried the parmigiana, the mascarpone and ham pizza, the carbonara and bruschettas. Everything was super tasty, I would definitely recommend. No pictures because we inhaled everything.

Came in at an off-hour for lunch (around 4pm) and were lucky to get a table — they welcomed us warmly. The place feels like an authentic Italian restaurant, and the staff are genuinely friendly. I had the risotto and my friend had the steak — both excellent. Highly recommend.

Italian restaurant on one of Maastricht's main shopping streets. Authentic Italian food, frankly excellent. Despite being very busy, the service is quick and very friendly, mostly Italian. Prices aren't cheap, but they're reasonable for Maastricht. Highly recommended.

A major disappointment for the Italy lover! As a regular visitor to Liguria, this was a significant letdown. The pizza was one of the worst in Maastricht: a rock-hard crust, tasteless, and with "rubbery" cheese. The pastas on the other plates also looked meager. Placing a few langoustines on a mountain of pasta is the "touristy" approach. The price-quality ratio is nowhere to be found here. Points for improvement for the restaurant The Dough (The Base): A rock-hard crust often indicates dough that has risen for too short a time or has been baked at too low a temperature, causing the moisture to evaporate instead of the dough "shocking" and becoming airy. Tip: Switch to a longer rising process (24-48 hours) and a higher oven temperature for that characteristic cornicione (airy crust). The Cheese (Quality above all): "Rubbery" cheese is usually the result of pre-grated cheese from a bag or a cheap imitation cheese. Tip: Use fresh Fior di Latte or Mozzarella di Bufala that has been well drained, so that the pizza does not become soggy but the cheese remains soft.

What an amazing restaurant, where absolutely everything is perfect! Service, menu, cuisine, location, tables, restrooms, atmosphere AND the flavors… Bravo, Excellent. See you next time.

I did expect the place to serve better food as I heard really good reviews about it. I ordered a caprese salad and carpaccio. Both dishes were tasteless and way too expensive for their quality. Carpaccio was very thick and I could not even finish the dish. Maybe the place is better for pasta and main dishes, but the starters were disappointing.

We arrived fifteen minutes early and the table was not ready. As I was on crutches, a seat was immediately offered, attentive and well handled. Seated with dogs at a corner table; round table for six, comfortable for the group. Open kitchen is clean, organized, and efficient. Tablet menu may give the wrong first impression, but the experience proves otherwise. Slightly lively atmosphere, not unusual in Italy. Clean, pleasant restrooms. Service stands out: strong team dynamic, attentive and service oriented. Anticipates well, such as nearly empty glasses, and responds appropriately without being intrusive. Dishes show care in preparation; flavors are clean. (Home made?)Pasta of good quality, fish&meat well prepared. Consistent execution with a clear focus on hospitality. Hospitality is clearly taken seriously here, thank you team.

We had dinner at this restaurant and really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and attentive, the service was quick, and the food was delicious. Since there were just the two of us, we ordered the sea bass croquettes, the classic bruschetta, and two plates of spaghetti alla carbonara. The truth is that after seeing some reviews and photos, we thought the portion of pasta wouldn’t be very large, but we were pleasantly surprised, the serving is generous and loaded with top-quality cheese and guanciale, and the pasta was fresh. We were more than satisfied. The restaurant is well-maintained, the restrooms are very clean, the tables are large, and in addition to the main menu, they have two others: one with the daily specials and another with wines. We’ll definitely be back.

I always enjoy eating here but tonight among menu specials there was the guancia di Chianina—exceptional quality meat, cooked to absolute perfection and melt-in-your-mouth tender. A standout dish that made my evening!

The food was fantastic! We popped in during the afternoon to have dinner, a bit of a spontaneous idea. We had pizzas with excellent toppings. I saw other people's dishes (pasta, desserts) that looked fantastic. The service was very friendly and relaxed, and the atmosphere was great. The portions were really generous for us; we couldn't finish it all, but we were allowed to take it home. Thank you for a lovely evening :-)

The food was delicious. The steak was buttery-soft and truly delicious. Good advice on a more robust red wine, perfect with the meat. And then to finish with a real Italian espresso. Everything was top-notch. The service was excellent and customer-friendly. The lighting in the room is a bit dim, but the food more than makes up for it.

This is a great place to eat Italian food in Maastricht. The service is friendly and focused on giving you the best Italian experience. The daily specials are always original, and the pizzas, pastas, and other dishes are delicious, always paired with a matching Italian wine.

We had made a reservation—which is absolutely necessary—and were warmly welcomed and escorted to our table. The menu was on a tablet, which worked perfectly. The service was helpful and friendly. The place was quite busy, but honestly, that just shows how popular it must be, and for good reason. Despite the crowd, the service was excellent. Most of the staff are Italian, which adds a really authentic and welcoming atmosphere. They were friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for great Italian food and warm hospitality, this is definitely a spot worth visiting!

Beautiful restaurant, great location, friendly service from an English-speaking young man. Very nice background music, but it was interrupted by the owner's daughter with her laptop. Delicious dishes, good wines, but small portions and steep prices. A table of four passed us and left after waiting an hour. Dear owner, solve such a problem with a basket of bread and some spreads on the house! Hospitality, a profession that doesn't incur any extra costs. How did you enjoy it? Thank you and goodbye, or hold the door open for departing guests. As a guest, I felt completely unappreciated. A missed opportunity, unfortunately. We won't be back.

We had a wonderful lunch today! The focaccias were exquisite. Fresh ingredients on homemade bread. Served with a delicious wine. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The service is also worth mentioning; the young waiter had to work hard on his own, but he did a truly fantastic job.

This is our second time here. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and when the restaurant is a bit busier, it feels very cozy.

Delicious, fresh, homemade meals with plenty of choice. Prepared and served with passion and a lovely wine. The lighting could be a bit more intimate, and the decor is a bit chilly, but the delicious dishes more than compensate.

We were a large group of 12. It was incredibly crowded inside, making it warm and noisy, but that was actually quite cozy. The food was delicious. For our starters, we had the table filled with all sorts of appetizers (meat, fish, and vegetarian). Then we had a delicious pizza. The pasta dishes were also very popular. Highly recommended.

I never really write reviews, but this was truly bizarre. We had a reservation for 8:30 PM. We arrived at 8:05 PM and were (understandably) told we were early and that our table was still occupied. But that it would definitely be available for us at 8:30 PM. We then returned at 8:32 PM to find that another customer at our reserved table was being served a full glass of wine. We were told it would take two minutes, but you wouldn't pour someone a full glass of wine if you expected them to leave the restaurant within two minutes. In short, there was no respect for our reserved time. The reason we made a reservation was because we had an appointment afterward. Fortunately, we were greeted with a smile at their competitor, "Quattro Mori," and we were still able to enjoy a delicious dinner there. We contacted Toscanella afterward about the incident, and she told us that "it was due to our upbringing." Having the courage to say that to your customers shows what kind of restaurant you truly are, and that respect and customer service are definitely not on your list of manners. So, if you're looking for an Italian restaurant where you'll be treated with respect and as a decent customer, definitely find another restaurant like "Quattro Mori."

Italian restaurants are very important to us because we love them. They truly strive to make you feel welcome and make the right choice. Everyone at the restaurant is friendly and attentive. Now, let's talk about the food: it's legendary, delicious, and a visual feast. It's a place with well-balanced plates and happy customers, but I found the place to be a bit sloppy.

2-3 table of guests . First of all I was waiting super long for a cart . Then waiter was serving all the tables , even new guests arriving after me. But not me . I left the restaurant without trying food. I understand when it’s busy . But the place was almost empty…

We went for a family dinner. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a memorable experience, considering it's an Italian restaurant in Holland. But I was wrong! We tried the pizzas, and they were truly excellent, with a thin, crispy crust. I tried the "Pizza Nera," made with a dough that also includes a little charcoal (hence the color), which was truly original and tasty. Thanks to Andrea, who gave us great advice and was attentive and kind throughout the evening. We'll do it again.

The "Toscanella Aquana" is an absolute must for Italian cuisine. The menu(s) are served via tablet, so you can browse the wine list, the regular menu, and the changing specialty menu. The service is very attentive, and the ordered dishes arrive relatively quickly. The view into the kitchen is lovely. Prices range widely depending on the order(s). Reservations are essential, as the restaurant seems to always be full.

Booking went smoothly. Upon arrival, the restaurant was well-stocked, which is a great bonus. The service was very quick and friendly. The two of us had a lovely meal here. The reason for the 4 stars for ambiance is that the granite tables are quite large for two and feel rather cold and bare without a tablecloth. We will definitely return on our next visit to Maastricht.

Quality dishes, with friendly professional service

There was no one who could explain exactly what it was. The pizza had a hard crust on the outside and was 2-3 millimeters thick in the middle, and it was watery.

Really had a fantastic evening at Toscanella, the host was fabulous. Great recommendations for Chardonnay was perfect. Food was great and offered a solid variety.

Nice setting and fast service, but my al pomodoro pasta was undercooked (same for a friend) and no it was not al dente. It needed at least 2-3 mins to reach the al dente stage. The portion was tiny for €15. As someone who cooks Italian food and knows good pasta, this was disappointing. No one asked for feedback when paying. The iPad menu felt impersonal. I’d recommend Paletti instead.

Loved the place and the staff. The food we ate was fantastic. We ordered pasta as first course, steaks as second. Top of the cherry the amazing tiramisu. We really enjoyed. It was a bit hot in the restaurant as a negative.
