Anne & Max is perfectly located in the center of Apeldoorn and is easily accessible on foot and by bicycle. Public transport connections are good, and paid parking is available nearby for those arriving by car. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, I found it modern and stylish; everything feels very authentic and is a real eye-catcher. The staff is friendly, professional, and at least bilingual. The menu is varied, ranging from salads and pastries to several original creations. The food was of average quality, somewhat bland and lacking in creativity. The coffee and tea were good and tasted fine. Prices for food and drinks are in the mid-range. The restrooms were not always clean, the bin was overflowing, and there was a lot of trash on the floor; this definitely needs improvement.

Not the experience we had expected. We thought it would be a nice place to sit with the children so they could crawl around and play together, but it turns out not to be a very child-friendly spot. Let's start with the food, which was too salty for our taste and we didn't find it special. Of course, that was to be expected given the price, but I would still prefer something a bit more expensive and healthier than lettuce and cheese. The toilets were very dirty and stank immediately after you opened the door. There is little room if you are with a child who needs changing, and bad luck if someone walks in to use the toilet because my child is standing with their bare bottom in front of the door and next to the sink. Because there is no legroom. Thirdly, the waitresses were nice, but keeping the place clean was not a top priority. I understand if they aren't paid well, because in the end that happens when young girls are hired to run a place like this. All in all, it is very dirty everywhere you sit, and I do not recommend this place for parents with children. In any case, this case was poorly advised by AI, so pay close attention to that. P.S., didn't take any photos because it really isn't pleasant to see how dirty the sofas and chairs were.

Nice "living room" grand cafe/restaurant

A cozy atmosphere and good service. Suitable for children. The only major downside, in my opinion, is that the vegetarian options almost all contain ingredients like goat cheese or mozzarella, which I'm not a big fan of, so that actually leaves surprisingly few options. But it is always tasty.

Nice and spacious place, it also has a kids' area. I usually go in the morning for hot chocolate. And it has friendly staff too.

It was fine, but not fantastic. The soup was lukewarm, but just warm enough. We had to wait a while for the food and drinks, and the empty glasses weren't cleared away in the meantime. The coffee, however, was very good!

Unfortunately, a mediocre soy cappuccino, although I did get a new one. According to the staff, I cannot safely eat gluten-free, and the place was dirty and unkempt!

Too bad. Although it looks okay, it is quite on the pricey side for me. Ten euros for a croissant and orange soda.

Filter koffie was nice and fruity. Drink it as it comes because it cools down quickly. I also got the An eggcellent start with salmon. Very good.

Location Apeldoorn. All the toys (for my son) were broken. Nothing worked. Tip: go to a thrift store for something new. Even the bin with pencils was full of nothing but blunt pieces.... And for that money, you should be able to put REAL whipped cream on the cake and Latte. And not some spray can. Shame!!

We enjoyed a fresh and original high tea. Beautiful with classic scones, lemon curd, and clotted cream. But also the crepes, soup, sandwiches, and cake: really delicious! Good tea. Lots of choice and delicious breakfast

They don't accept cash, really bad. I ordered a cake and the picture showed coconut flakes on it. I was served WITHOUT coconut!

The restaurant was a bit disappointing overall. The food felt quite uninspired and lacked care — for example, items that should have been toasted weren’t, which made the whole experience feel a bit careless. It also didn’t really match what was presented on the menu or on social media, which set different expectations. On top of that, the place itself seemed a little worn and not very clean, which added to the underwhelming atmosphere. The staff came across as rather uninterested and didn’t seem to put much effort into service. Nothing was outright terrible, but the overall experience just didn’t feel very satisfying or comfortable, and it didn’t quite live up to what you would expect.

A nice place for a delicious cup of coffee and much more....

We had brunch here on a Saturday morning. While we are usually not quick to criticize food, we genuinely didn't like it here. First of all, I ordered a cappuccino and my partner a flat white. My partner (who has worked in the barista world for a long time) clearly received a large cappuccino and I a small one. Not the best start. Next, for dinner, we both ordered a salmon club sandwich. This was genuinely very disappointing. The cream cheese on it was spread very thinly and was bland, the salmon was hard to find, and it consisted mainly of an awful lot of raw carrots. No salt, no pepper, and no chips. The chips served with it were also stale and not crispy. When we wanted to pay and were asked if we had enjoyed it, and we said "no, actually not that much...", the only response was "oh" and no one asked what was wrong with it. We found this a shame. The service is otherwise very friendly, but very young.

This is our favorite little spot for enjoying a nice coffee with a pastry. They have a bit of everything, and there are plenty of options for vegetarians or vegans too. The chai latte is definitely my favorite.

It is really nice, though, that they have vegan croissants and pastries; those are top-notch. All in all, a nice place I enjoy coming to (and I drive 30 minutes each way several times a week to get there, so that says something 😋).

Cozy decor and good food and drinks. Friendly staff. It is a bit chilly inside due to the large metal doors that don't really keep the cold out. The children's play corner is a nice idea but could be better maintained. The toys were very dirty and some things are falling apart.

The place was good, nice coffees and service! The door to the outside was left frequently open with people coming in and out. As the weather was cold this was not that pleasant. Maybe some way to have the door close on itself? The toilet was not clean, very wet and a bit yek to go to.... Otherwise nice and spacious place!

This morning I had coffee with my girlfriend and ordered a delicious slice of Lemmon Poppyseek cake. My girlfriend tried to remove a piece of the (hard cake) with a pastry fork, but it wasn't really working. She ate it to please me, but with such a hard cake, that was difficult. I said, "Isn't it tasty?" No, "It's really hard." So I took the cake to Bali and told the lady there. I told her she couldn't and shouldn't serve this cake, to which she offered to bring you a new slice, but that's not necessary. What I find most appalling is that she didn't apologize, showed no interest in the complaint itself (you can't serve such a hard cake), and showed no reaction. So we won't be returning to Anne & Max, this is such a terrible experience.

Had high tea with a friend. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The rolls and sandwiches were dried out. The lettuce was also limp, and the toppings were also dried out. I think it had been sitting out for a while before we arrived and was prepared too early. So not fresh!

High tea was a fiasco. Scones, bread dried out and moderately topped. Soup cold. Teapot should definitely be on a tea light holder or in a tea cozy. A real disappointment.

I'd been here once before in Apeldoorn for high tea, and it wasn't great. I left a review, which they responded to, and I went back today to try again, and it was great. The service was good, and the staff were very friendly. You could immediately tell it wasn't as busy. The food was excellent and delicious. Highly recommended, as was the case today. A complaint was resolved very quickly.

Ordered an expensive sandwich—it was mostly hot air, with some dough and a piece of dry pulled chicken on top. I messaged them but didn't get a response, so I'll leave a review. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you're hungry, but I would if you're 0% critical or on a diet.

Nicely aired. We went to a location in Groningen a few weeks ago. It was also excellent! Delicious food. The menu doesn't offer much choice, but it's all sooooo delicious. Everything is prepared on-site. The service is friendly and attentive. I had made a reservation, and they neatly placed a plate on the table. Nice! Recommended!!!

I have been to Anne and Max in other cities, it was fine. This one though is a bit mediocre, the food didn’t taste good at all and the coffee is below average. Also, we sat on a table that wasn’t clean, but also the waiters didn’t bother to clean it at all, and they didn’t even ask about our opinion of the food like people do in every restaurant or café in the Netherlands. By the way don’t get fooled as I did, the winter bowl is very cold xD nothing to warm you up

We were so happy to have lunch here with our one-year-old. He played happily in the play corner while we enjoyed coffee. The restaurant is spacious and there's plenty of seating. The burrata salad was delicious and exactly what I expected. The focaccia piripiri was a bit disappointing, as it was dry and thinly topped. The food was also on the expensive side.

Unfortunately, the noise is huge! The food was supposed to be a simple omelette and it was tasteless! I asked for cutlery afterwards because I might have had to eat with my hands anyway! The prices are high! I asked for a latte and got it in a cappuccino glass and it was tasteless! Only the waiters are helpful and kind

We arrived at 11:45. We wanted the breakfast menu with eggs, but were told they were already out of eggs. Never had that at another location before. I wanted a caramel latte. It wasn't listed on the website where we had to order. I wanted to try ordering from someone else, but I had to use the app. So, that wasn't possible either. Other locations do have regular service. And a caramel latte.

While I really like this place and love their focus on sustainability, they often serve their hot drinks in these glasses without ear, that are impossible to drink from because they're too hot to the touch. This sadly makes me want to not come here again.

On August 26th, we had booked high tea for 14 people, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. This was a special day, as we were getting married that same afternoon and had indicated we needed to be at the town hall at 3:45 PM. For this reason, we felt it was important that everything be ready on time so we could relax and enjoy the day with our guests. Unfortunately, things turned out quite differently. Upon arrival around 2:00 PM, nothing was ready. We were only told where to sit. When all the guests had arrived at 2:15 PM, nothing had yet been prepared. Tea was only served after I inquired. The food didn't even arrive until around 2:45 PM, so we barely had time to eat in peace. Furthermore, the service was disappointing. The staff couldn't provide clear answers to any questions. The checkout process also went wrong: I had to pay the full amount per person, even though I'd been told over the phone that there was a €5 discount per person during the week. Because we were in a hurry, I let it go. I emailed them later, and they agreed: the overpayment would be refunded. A week has passed since then, and I contacted them again, but they still haven't refunded me. I haven't received a single response to a later email about our disappointing experience. The food itself was fine, but the service was downright terrible. This should have been a carefree and enjoyable experience for us, but it became stressful and rushed. Unfortunately, this overshadowed our afternoon. We won't be returning.

We had made a reservation for high tea on Sunday at 2 p.m. (in advance, of course). The waitress arrived at 2:30 p.m. for the first time (and the restaurant was less than 1/4 full) with the tea. She started by saying, "I don't know when the snacks will be arriving." At 2:40 p.m., I went to the counter to ask how things were going and saw the tray already waiting, though I didn't know how long it had been. She said she would bring it right away, but I saw her chatting with colleagues afterward, and it took another 5-10 minutes for it to actually arrive. The sandwiches were tasty, but they all had the same thing on them (the vegan high tea; all with tofu, a sauce, and some greens). The cakes were rather dry. They came with clotted cream and jam, but it wasn't clear what they went with (the carrot cake? The cakes that also seemed finished?). To end on a positive note: it was nice that you could also order homemade soft drinks and coffee, and that these were included. You received loose tea that had been pre-packaged, not tea bags. In short: not worth the money. I wouldn't recommend it.

After very positive experiences at other locations, we were very disappointed here. The iced coffee of the month consisted mainly of ice cubes. After pointing this out, we were told this was the policy and shouldn't be changed. The pistachio iced coffee itself didn't taste like pistachios. Only pistachio paste and some chopped nuts on the rim of the glass. The café was also quite dirty, but we blamed that on arriving late in the afternoon. Next time, we won't choose Anne&Max again. Too bad.

Nice place to have lunch and play area for the little ones

A really cute breakfast spot with a lovely outdoor seating area and a beautifully decorated, high-ceiling indoor space—we liked both! The service was super nice and friendly, which made the experience even better. The food overall was good, though some parts could be improved. We had Max’s Breakfast, which was well-balanced and satisfying in portion, but we felt it could have included a bit more—especially the ham. The Maximiliana Formaggi was a safe choice, but not particularly exciting; the dough was a bit dry and not very flavorful. The Piri Piri Formaggi had a better taste, but again, both the dough and chicken felt a little dry. On the sweet side, they offered a nice variety of desserts. We tried the carrot cake, banana bread, and framboise cheesecake—all were delicious! As for coffee, the flat white had a bit too much milk for my taste, but I really enjoyed the cortado. Overall, a good experience. What I loved most was the wide range of options on the menu—it makes this place a great choice for larger groups, since everyone can easily find something to enjoy.
