We had an excellent Valentine's Day menu: 5 loaded courses of tasty food, with awesome balanced flavors. Chef Shinell does Caribbean fusion haute cuisine; island flavours taken to an amazing level. The staff are very friendly, and when they seem a little clumsy (like bringing the amuse just when you finish the starter) that is just an act; a sophisticated trick to add to even more island charm. :-)

Absolutely a gem of a restaurant! The food was utterly delicious with nothing failing my desires for a fine dinner.The atmosphere was so cozy, with the owner and her employees making sure we were well taken care of with humor, kindness and attention to our needs. The food was tasty, beautifully presented, but too expensive for the price charged. We paid approximately €180 for a simple meal (main + dessert) for 2. From what I saw on the menu, I would call it Caribbean cuisine. What I found distracting (especially for the price asked) is that the head waiter was busy with his/someone's baby in his arm while he went around the tables. In the catering industry you cannot be 40% focused on your (colleague's) baby. Furthermore, the atmosphere of the restaurant was fine, nice wardrobe but otherwise nothing special. A well-maintained unique toilet facility.

Friendly service, although it is a bit strange that the owner walks around with a baby in his arm all evening. The food is good, but not commensurate with the price. In my opinion, each main course is about 8 euros above what it is worth.

This is the second time we dined at Azaka & it didn't disappoint. We ordered pork belly, filet mignon and duck breast. All tasted good and the winner is certainly pork belly! It's spicy yuzu chutney is yummy. The service was attentive and Shinell, the owner, is an absolute gem. We will visit again.

We celebrated our wedding yesterday at Azaka. It's amazing how they managed to arrange everything in a very short time. Very tasty food and a very warm and personal welcome. Shinell and Rutger were thrilled when they heard that we wanted to celebrate our wedding here. They made it absolutely perfect despite the group's diverse dietary needs. We will come back here again soon! The photos show the food during the tasting a few days before our wedding day.

A tasty but pricey 5-course menu with surprising combinations, small portions, good service and an open kitchen. It remains a one-time experience.

What a wonderful experience in this beautiful establishment. Rutger made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious and the local beers were refreshing. Hopefully they will invest in a few English menus soon. However that's nothing that a translation app can't fix. And I would recommend the chefs special anyway. Let yourself be surprised. They will take into account allergies and can even prepare vegan dishes. For us the 5 course menu was enough to feel satisfied.

We had surprise 4 course menu. The dishes are very tasty. Especially the dessert. The chef was very friendly. Would visit again. (Edit): second visit was less charming. The price of surprise menu seemed to have increased. The quality of food is not worth the money. It is still a homestyle restaurant where the cook put a lot of effort in, which is precious. A more friendly pricing would have made it a good experience.

We unexpectedly had dinner in Amersfoort, so we quickly looked for a nice place, and we found it. What a wonderful evening we had. Mr. and Mrs. had a baby girl for 6 weeks and the gentleman helps with the service in the evening, so nice and attentive. He says this is not my profession, but he does it so much fun. We had a starter and a main and were given a sandwich with olive oil and spread and an amuse-bouche in between. Even a simple soft drink was served as if it were a cocktail. Portions are great and everything tastes delicious. The toilet room is an adventure in itself (lots to look at and use😊). In short, we will definitely come back.

Definitely a disappointment. The food is not special, but very competitively priced. We ate Creole vegetarian duck that was quite salty and tasted mainly like smoked sausage. The menu does not match the website: a 4-course dinner is no longer possible, only 6 courses. We therefore opted for 2 courses a la carte. A bottle of water and a portion of bread cost 10 euros. Price/quality is therefore not in order.

We went to Azaka for a birthday celebration, had the 7 course dinner. Each dish was carefully prepared with attention to detail and everything was just really delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive, going out of their way to make us feel comfortable, happy and full while dining in their restaurant. We will definitely come back, and we highly recommend Azaka for special occasions or a great night out.

We had a wonderful meal here last Saturday with our whole family at this Hidden Gem of Amersfoort! The dishes were all crispy with very special flavor combinations (Caribbean/Mediterranean). We started with warm brioches with a delicious Caribbean spread. Then we got crispy cheese balls and some kind of spinach leaf soup. Wonderfully creamy! The gnocchi with crab sauce was also not to be missed! The main course was a well-cooked steak or duck with a sweet sauce and then a delicious dessert! You can clearly tell that this business is run with passion by the enthusiastic owners. Everything was also explained very well! Thanks for this great evening!

The chef and her team had clearly paid attention to every detail, resulting in delicious dishes that exceeded our expectations. What really stood out was the attention the staff paid to food allergies and special diets. When the cook knows in advance what she needs to take into account, she takes the time to adjust dishes so that it is an excellent experience for everyone. It's reassuring to know that our well-being is taken so seriously, which made our experience even more enjoyable. In short, Azaka is a place where both culinary arts and customer service are of the highest level. We recommend to anyone looking for a hassle-free dining experience with top class food and a warm welcome. We have been here before and look forward to returning soon!

What a disappointment. We came all the way from Veenendaal to eat here because we have eaten here several times already. We know that operation is inconvenient and we take that for granted. We arrive and are given a table and map. The chair is dirty, there are bread crumbs on it and while we are the first customers that evening, when we ask for the menu, it turns out to be very different than on the website and the chef appears to be on maternity leave. We were unable to read the last page because it was taped down. A literally dirty card. The table is also dirty. It was cold and we are talking about literally cold. We ask for our coat and give feedback, the service looks at us as if they have seen this several times but are unwilling and/or unable to give a response and/or apology. It's very strange that this restaurant has such a high rating. Is this a matter of deception or did everything just go wrong with us? We go to eat at another restaurant and apologize for being so late and explain our story and it turns out that the gentleman serving you has had almost exactly the same experience with you. Are the reviews not real after all?

Our visit to Azaka Restaurant was a mixed experience that included some positive and less positive aspects. First of all, it was noticed that the staff was extremely friendly and welcomed us warmly, which created a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, I can't deny that the prices were on the high side for what ultimately appeared on our plate. The portions were on the small side, so the price-quality ratio did not seem to be quite in balance. Another negative was the loud music that made conversations at the table difficult. It would have been nicer if the music had been at a lower volume so that guests could communicate with each other more easily. In addition, it was noticeable that it took a long time before our first drinks were served. This aspect of the service can certainly be improved to enhance the overall experience. As for the menu, we found it somewhat disjointed. It seemed like there was no clear common thread and the dishes were randomly put together. It would help if the menu had more structure and cohesion. All in all, Azaka Restaurant offers a friendly atmosphere and attentive staff, but there are some aspects that could be improved to optimize the overall dining experience.

We had a delicious meal at Azaka. It took a while before the drinks were taken and it also took a while before they were served, but that didn't spoil the fun. Rutger is a very nice man, who makes serving fun. He also tells you something about the wines if you take a wine arrangement with the menu. The dishes are very tasty, well thought out and well prepared. The main course is more than sufficient. One of the negatives I found (and I also indicated this) was that a glass of wine contained only 1 sip more than the bop arrangement. I thought it was very poor. The end of the evening with coffee was a bit messy, but resolved well. Too much cappuccino, no problem, whatever, and we don't put it on the bill, ordered liquor 43, initially got something else, no problem either, then you now have both :-) and again the wrong thing is not on the bill bill even though we were allowed to drink it. Ordered Rooibos tea and received mint tea. I think Rutger was already closing down in his head. :-) Very nice place, it was completely full, it's a bit Caribbean style, but that's the charm. We will be surprised there again!

I took my boyfriend to Azaka because we were in Amersfoort for a weekend and the reviews were good. Despite all the 5 stars and good stories, I was still surprised about the atmosphere, quality and overall experience. Azaka is worth so much more than 5 stars. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted friendly and then taken to our table, close to the open kitchen. So nice to see how everything was prepared. We chose our drinks from the extensive drinks menu, with a wide choice of wine, beer and delicious homemade cocktails. The dinner menu itself also had just enough choice, for both meat and fish lovers and vegans. We chose the filet mignon and quickly agreed that we have never eaten anywhere as delicious as here. Really big compliments to the chef. When we were ready to go, we chatted with Shinell, the owner. Such an incredibly sweet and social woman who has a heart for what she does. You really notice that in everything. We stayed for a long time to chat with her and her husband Rutger (who also arranges everything fantastically). Shinell said during the evening that she thinks it is important that people leave with a big smile and a good feeling and that is certainly noticeable in everything that happens within Azaka. In short: Azaka is the place to go for delicious food, a nice atmosphere and a fantastic evening. It is about a 2.5 hour drive for us, but we will definitely come back.

For my birthday my girlfriend chose this great restaurant to have dinner. It was truly a fantastic experience. We were immediately greeted in a super friendly manner and given a table near the open kitchen, so we could see how the delicious dishes were prepared. The menu was also very well put together. Just enough choice to choose from and there were meat, fish, and vegan options. We both went for the filet mignon and agreed that we have never had such delicious food before. We also had a very good wine, which we had chosen from the extensive drinks menu (where there was a wide choice of wines, beers and homemade cocktails. Also 0.0% options.) When we had finished eating and actually headed back to wanted a house, we started talking to the owners. What incredibly social, warm and sweet people who really care about the business. They made the whole experience perfect for us and we will definitely come back again. It's a bit of a drive for us, but it's definitely worth it.

We hebben hier 'derde kerstdag' 2023 gegeten en de ervaring was uiterst positief! Het was erg rustig maar de gastvrouw en -heer maakten het helemaal goed met hun warme persoonlijkheid. We aten het chefs menu (5 gangen) welke een verassende fusion van Caraïbische en Italiaanse gerechten was. De porties waren ook prima en we gingen dan ook wel gevoed naar huis. Een aanrader voor iedereen uit Amersfoort e.o.!

Hoewel we alles vrij last-minute hebben geregeld, wat leidde tot enkele kleine communicatie-uitdagingen, valt het restaurant hier niets te verwijten. Het was een onvergetelijke avond, en ik zou Azaka aan iedereen aanbevelen voor zowel dineren als het organiseren van feesten.

Ik had een Caribisch visgerecht en die was heel lekker op smaak. Mijn vriendin had risotto en ook die was perfect. Alle gerechten roken heerlijk naar allerlei kruiden. De mensen zijn heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ze hebben ook een vega menu met veel opties. Verder draaien ze leuke muziek en hangt er een gemoedelijke sfeer. Ondanks dat we het binnen een beetje koud vonden, komen we zeker weer terug.

Prijzig, maar wel een fantastische avond gehad!!!

We hebben hier met 5 personen heerlijk genoten van de hele bijzondere fusion gerechten met Franse, Italiaaanse maar vooral heel veel Caribische invloeden! We hadden iets te vieren en daar werd prachtig rekening mee gehouden. Service was accuraat en zeer gastvrij zonder plastisch over te komen. Aankleding is smaakvol en gezellig. Maar bovenal is het eten echt een bijzondere ervaring!

Heel leuk en lekker restaurant! De gerechtjes zijn afwisselend en allemaal even lekker! Het restaurant wordt gerund door een heel leuk koppel (zij kookt heerlijk en hij doet meestal de bediening). Wij werden gisteren bediend door een andere collega, ook erg aardig en heel goed in het uitzoeken van de bijpassende wijnen! Azaka ligt misschien niet helemaal in de stad, maar erg dichtbij en die paar extra meter zijn het meer dan waard!

Wij waren hartstikke blij dat Azaka speciaal voor mijn verjaardagsviering het restaurant openstelde en ons een buitengewone “private dining birthday experience” heeft gegeven. Geweldig. Wat een hartelijke, warme mensen. Het Azakateam is ervaren, uitermate vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Chef Shinell heeft meegedacht over het 4-gangen menu en mooie ideeën aangedragen voor heerlijke gerechten, waarbij zij rekening hield met de speciale wensen van alle gasten. Ook stond het team klaar om zelfs met mijn speciale wensen voor extra versieringen en een aangepaste muzieklijst te helpen. Het eten was werkelijk een verrassende ervaring van smaakexplosies, magie-in-de-mond. Alles was vers, van kwaliteit en rijk van smaak. Van de borrelhapjes, garnalen carpaccio, risotto, gestoofde rund, exotische tiramisu, tot de speciaal bedachte verjaardagscocktail en het verjaardagsdessert met lichtfontein voor de jarige aan toe, je kon de passie, expertise en aandacht proeven die chef Shinell erin heeft gestopt. Het eten en de ervaring was zo bijzonder dat wij na drie dagen nog niet erover uitgepraat raken. Ik kan niet genoeg benadrukken hoe heerlijk het eten is en hoe superlief, gezellig, attent ik het Azaka team vind. Chef Shinell, Sahara, Patricia en Biniam hebben meer dan hun best gedaan en het is hen rijkelijk gelukt om het ons naar de zin te maken. Zij hebben ons een onvergetelijke verjaardagsavond gegeven. Mijn dank. Mijn advies, ga bij Azaka eten. En meer nog, ga jouw privé of zakelijke gelegenheid daar vieren. Het is een uniek restaurant met een fantastische sfeer en verrassend heerlijk eten. Ik zou zeggen, geef ze een belletje of ga langs en bespreek je wensen. Je zult er geen spijt van hebben! Chef Shinell en team, dank jullie wel voor de onberispelijke, onvergetelijke avond.
