I wanted a sandwich without ham, so I asked at the cash register if it was healthy. The employee, who wasn't very enthusiastic about his job, replied, "I can't change anything about a sandwich???" In the end, there was no meat on the sandwich. It was expensive for a slice of cheese and a mountain of iceberg lettuce. Unfortunately, they only charge by card. A missed opportunity with grumpy employees, cheap sandwiches sold for expensive. And don't ask if anything can be omitted from a sandwich because that's apparently too much work. I'll just go to a competitor who is more customer-friendly!

The price-quality ratio isn't very high, with sandwiches being quite expensive. The coffee is also quite expensive for the quality. The shop is in a very efficient location between the train tracks and the metro. It's also easy to walk in, and you're usually served quickly.

The opening hours say Backwerk opens at 6 a.m., but they had just started baking. We stood there for an hour and had to watch as everything was gradually restocked. Still, there were no rolls to be seen.

As a tourist, I tried to ask the female clerk for directions. She didn't even look at us. Of course, she wasn't obliged to, but this attitude gets me one point.

The Turkish lady was very helpful, and the sandwiches were delicious. From now on, I'll be coming here before I take the train.

Missed opportunity pin only! Then you stand. In the morning at 7.45. I must have tried a new place on Sloterdijk. I walk in and see a few sandwiches. When I had made my choice I saw a shelf life of 7.57. Well, I'll eat it pretty quickly, I thought. When I stand at the cash register with cash, the employee says in bad Dutch "PIN only". A missed opportunity for me. End result: No sandwich. Shame. Didn't see me there again!

The last two times I came here, I found the woman with short blond hair and glasses behind the counter very unfriendly and emotionless. She almost snapped at you. That's why I decided to leave a review today. She comes across as very cold when you walk in, and her helpfulness couldn't be worse. When I held out my hand to get my money back, I expected it to be placed in my hand. This woman completely ignored me and placed it next to my hand on the counter, making it abundantly clear that I'm not wanted as a customer. This is the last time I'll come here, and I strongly advise others against giving this store a second chance.

I regularly buy unsliced Spelt bread at Jongejans bakery on Gelderlandplein, along with all sorts of other products. You have to be there early, because the bread lady likes to throw all the incoming loaves through the slicing machine as quickly as possible. You can't wait to get rid of them for the day... Convenience is key, the employee. I once asked if loaves could be left unsliced, but according to the women, there's only one solution: "You can reserve them by phone."... It's like buying a collector's item at PC Hooft instead of a simple loaf. Nothing bad about the bread, by the way, but for €7.80, you'd expect a bit of customer service. I went into the shop early this morning and, right next to the entrance, in an open display, picked out a loaf of bread. The always grumpy bread-for-slicing lady was already full steam ahead, chopping up the loaves. Just in time... While selecting, I touched another loaf and then placed the loaf itself in a paper bag directly across from the "joy personification," with the well-meaning remark: "Good morning, ma'am, you're so busy that I'll put it in the bag myself, can you please continue?" That didn't elicit a pleasant or friendly response. She suggested I wait a moment and she would put the loaves in a bag. Besides, "it was unhygienic that I had touched another loaf." That she herself, with the same Bolte hands without gloves, had just placed the loaves on the rack right next to an open door escaped her notice. A surly, unfriendly response, with an equally sourdough expression. Her colleague stood there and watched. Then I walked to the cash register to pay for the golden loaf. Where I had to wait 5 minutes, I suspect, as some kind of punishment. Is it worth being treated like this as a, until recently, regular customer? Well, no, today, Thursday, December 18th, is the last straw. It's time to shift the recurring purchases to 'Le Fournil' a kilometer away, but artisanal, half the price for a truly fresh loaf, with incredibly friendly staff who are about 10 times as busy and leave everything unsliced until the customer asks for a sliced loaf. That's how it should be: a bakery isn't a production facility where everything has to be rushed through yet still charges top dollar.
