backWERK in Wijk 06 Binnenstad

A clean and well-organized BackWerk with the full selection available during my visit. Everything looked fresh and was continuously refilled. I tried two baguettes (chicken and cheese) and both tasted good, fresh, and came in decent portions — contrary to some other reviews, there was more than enough on the sandwiches. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and efficient. There were four people working: two preparing food, one at the counter, and one keeping everything tidy. Service was fast and pleasant. Prices were normal for a busy train station area — I paid around €12 for two baguettes and a chocolate croissant, which is fine for a grab-and-go snack. I didn’t try the coffee, but for a quick bite on the go, I would definitely come back. A solid experience and a reliable choice when passing through Utrecht Centraal.

Got a chicken sandwich. There wasn't any chicken on it at all. Absolutely nothing. I'll skip my smoothie now, but it'll probably have something else in it. A sloppy affair, a waste of money. It cost me almost €10, I want my money back!

Only debit card! Last time I will visit this company. The sandwich was tough. Well filled. Napkins are hard to find and are not included as standard. From now on I will just walk to Julia's. In the meantime I tried some more chicken roll. Warm looks like a sausage roll but with finely ground chicken. Well that chicken has been dead for 2 months. Color and taste do not resemble chicken. Dry. No this is definitely a failed product.. it was worth a try. But another disappointment

Very strange experience. I wanted to pay for a coffee and a chocolate pretzel during my work break. When I asked about the pretzel, the employee responded with an irritated 'huh?' instead of just asking what I meant. That came across as unprofessional and awkward. Then I also got the wrong sandwich. As a customer, you expect at least friendliness and that your order is correct.

It was very sloppy and the staff was antisocial. Because of the sloppy work, my coffee was swapped with another. I'm used to back-of-the-envelope work, perhaps this was a one-off.

I often came there to get coffee and a croissant, until this morning a lady very curtly asked me what kind of coffee I had. I answered her question and with her dirty hands she just grabbed my cup to look into it because she didn't believe me.

Friendly service! Great food, though a bit pricey, but hey, what else would you expect at Central Station?

Had a slice of "pizza" for 4 euros. Definitely not pizza dough, but more like flatbread. It was completely hardened, and I had trouble distinguishing the cheese from the sauce or understanding what I was tasting. If you put a sandwich with cheese and ketchup in the oven, you'll have something much more delicious. The first time, and the last time. Next time, spread an extra slice of bread with cheese, because your confidence will be gone if you manage to make pizza that disgusting.

Not much choice. The BBQ chicken sandwich I got had clearly been kept warm for a while. The bottom was almost black. It's a shame, because in Germany I was used to being able to get a good sandwich at Backwerk.

When you come in here, they don't even look at you, they just ignore you. No customers walk in either, and you're doomed to go bankrupt.

Very nice company with always a good range of sandwiches. Sometimes the choice is a bit less, but the staff always looks hardworking, so that is not their fault. Sandwiches are also always tasty, well filled and the choice that is there is very diverse.

Even before ordering something, I walked out of the store because of how a customer was addressed and treated by a white, older man. Toog looked fairly empty at that time.

Older man became aggressive when I gave cash. And immediately shouted at me while he could also calmly indicate it. I didn't see a pin only and I also saw a cash load.

Sandwiches looked fine, but the cappuccino was really undrinkable. I threw it away and got one at the newsstand. Much better!

Hello backwork You cannot even pay with cash there. There are also people who are under administration and who cannot pay with their debit card. People with a physical disability and the disabled can only pay cash.

Rude old balding man with glasses. Was on the phone with my mother in another language. It was my turn and I apologized for calling and said I was going to hang up. Before I could say anything, he put on an accent and mimicked how I would hang up. I responded that he didn't have to imitate me as I was calling in a different language and yet he continued mocking me as otherwise he isn't relevant enough to get attention. Hope he gets more meaning in life. Otherwise the staff was fine would have given a higher score if he didn't work there, disgusting and sad.

Got a sandwich this morning and there were two long hairs in it. Threw away my sandwich after 1/4. Hairnets perhaps an idea?

I've been coming here since it was a sandwich shop. Back then you could still get a sandwich to your own taste, for example without onion. Nowadays nothing is possible anymore, even though they are making the sandwiches, I am snubbed by your staff. I eat here almost every day. Your counter is often empty and when you ask for a specific sandwich you are told we are not working on it yet or you are told yes I am working on it but it will take a while. Service has become really terrible for an older woman who works there, she really needs to look for something else because I don't think she is happy. Hopefully this will change, otherwise you will lose customers who come 5 days a week. The man with glasses who works there is a great guy by the way

always delicious freshly squeezed orange juice and sausage rolls. Quality of the products is very good. The cash register system could be organized more efficiently or employees better trained, because you often have to wait half a minute to a whole minute for two products until it has been entered.

I used to always buy an egg salad sandwich! Lately I was missing something, I thought they forgot the crispy bacon, so I asked, why? I was told, they have become vegetarian! I got so angry, I just became even more anti-vegan/vegetarian! Why does everything have to be vegetarian? Therefore 1 star for the food, too bad I couldn't give less!! Worst quality ever experienced. Should be paid by Backwerk to drink and eat that s. The name BACKWERK IS marketing. Nothing is backed there. I have a new name for you “OldFrozenRollsWerk” or “NotBackWerk”

I was lucky to meet Leticia, who treated me very kindly. When she realized that I was Spanish, we chatted. The coffee was very delicious. I recommend it 100x100.

The taste of the pretzels is nice. But having a sign saying pretzels "from 1.75" and then selling them for 1.95 euros at the register without listing that price feels like false advertisement and a scam.

With a 5 minute transfer time, I quickly stopped by to get some food. Upon entering I was immediately welcomed by a nice lady behind the counter. She was not only fast but also had a very infectious cheerfulness. Top service. If I'm in the area I'd love to visit again.

High quality sandwiches, but at a high cost. BackWERK is my go-to for a quick bite, if I have a tight transfer schedule. I would personally recommend the tuna sandwich/baguette they have. It's got a hint of apple and a variety of greens, a bit of onion and without any sauce it still is good. Coffee is expensive, but there aren't many alternatives in Stationshal. If you detour to an Albert Heijn close by, you can cut the price in half, though.

Bag over sandwich had a hole in it on the paper side because it was wet, only found out during checkout After asking for another bag I am asked to take another sandwich, but none of them had the same bread. I ask again if I can put the sandwich I chose in another bag, but I had to settle for the other I am then snubbed and waved away unfriendly by the employee after paying. If this is service then I won't visit people anymore.

Almost missed my train because of the clerk asked me to wait for quite a while, then later on ignored me and tend to serve the Dutch guest. Racist clerk, this shop shouldn't run in any big stations.

You can take a sandwich from the display case, but there are no bags to put the sausage in! When I requested a bag, the employee became aggressive because she said she was busy. A colleague of hers said that you had to pay for the bag, so it was best to take the red hot sausage in our hands! Not normal and very customer unfriendly.

Too expensive, half-filled sandwich, they only serve 1 type of topping when something runs out. If you want a different type of topping, you just have to wait until they start doing that. Payment in cash is not possible. If you want a salmon sandwich, you are obliged to take a bagel. They can't spread it on another sandwich.

Refuses to sell alternatives to plastic, as required by law. Increased plastic usage to charge customer more. Stay away. Unfriendly to environment.

Today I bought a "Pane Avocado Hummus" at Jaarbeurszijde for €4.90, where the avocado had apparently been missed. Only two paper-thin slices of avocado were on top. Then I think almost five euros is WAY too expensive. Normally I'm quite happy with your sandwiches on days when I don't have time to make my own lunch, but I think this is very mediocre.

First time backWERK for me. Just got a delicious BBQ chicken baguette. Great sandwich!

Yesterday was the last sandwich on the best before date. Today I received no response when I greeted the employee as he entered. Apparently the cash register has to wait 2 minutes before the total amount is issued; it remained silent. So after half a minute I asked what it would cost. Not exactly a friendly man behind the counter. Unfortunately, the sandwich was also dry and minimally filled. Everything could be a lot better.

Around 5.30 pm I got a herb cream cheese bagel and a cinnamon stick. The taste was tasty, well filled, but both the bagel and the stem were no longer so fresh. Shame.

Good food, nice coffee, the new backwerk on the Jaarbeurs side opens at random times? Several times I have come at 7:00 AM and it is open, but sometimes at 7:30 AM it is not yet open, the staff does not look at you while you are waiting and does not give a reason. It says 7:00 am on Google for all other backwork, but it doesn't seem to be registered on Google. Very frustrating when you have to go to work and you just want a nice cup of coffee.

Worse kaas broodje I ate in my life. Throw the half of it. No napkins available on self service neither when I asked the cashier.

Mediocre quality and especially the toppings are extremely mediocre. For example, 1 slice of ham. Or healthy sandwiches with 2 slices of egg and tomato that you can see through....

I just went there, thought I would get a nice cappuccino, 1 it was cold, and 2 the taste was really bad. So I won't go here anymore. No chance. What was tasty was the pre-packed egg cakes

Great sandwiches. Better than the ones from the AH on the opposite side of the station. Convenient for takevaway breakfast or lunch.

Decent sandwiches - veg options

Not nice staff. 13-05 at 08:28 I was wrongly accused of theft. The woman who was preparing sandwiches there spoke to me unfriendly and accused me of putting a currant bun in my bag while I had La Place sandwich in my bag. I took the sandwich out of my bag and showed her that it was from La Place chicken sandwich. Madam was quiet, she didn't apologize and neither did the rest of the staff. They have tasty sandwiches, but the way they treat customers is unfriendly.

The tuna melt sandwich was rock hard, unfortunately I had to throw a piece away. Other (cold) sandwiches had very little toppings. Wouldn't get anything again anytime soon.

Watery luke warm coffee straight from a machine. Any spot in the station does better. Edit: I asked the attendant if the machine was working and they said yes, just how the coffee is. It is bad coffee and the cup size is silly too ad they do not come close to filling it. Never will I save my few cents by getting coffee here instead of Kiosk or Hema etc. This was really notably worse than the others

Baguette obtained healthy. Altogether 2 strips of lettuce, 2 thin slices of egg, 2 slices of cucumber and 3 slices of tomato. I've never had such a pathetic sandwich 🤣 and "back work" has replaced my sacred "sandwich shop"?

Tasty sandwiches, I had a bagel. Very fresh. And staff are friendly. I will return.

Delicious sandwich and sweet custard pretzel. Friendly and enthusiastic staff member at the cash register! Other choices than the crowd: recommended, I go there more often.

Last Sunday at 9am I bought a warm feta spinach sandwich. Clearly kept warm for too long, or was it left over from the day before? Tough and tasteless. Thank you for responding after FIVE months 😀 I'm sorry, I reported my problem to you at the time, and perhaps you understand that I don't want to spend any more time on this. had to pay twice for the purchase of sandwiches. I am referred to HMS worthless website when I asked for a refund. Careful people find a way to earn money during these difficult times.

I travel a lot by train for school and often visit Rotterdam and Utrecht. Tasty sandwiches, but no plant-based milk for coffee.... it is 2021... many people do not drink cow's milk due to allergies, etc. This is a shame, Rotterdam does have this.
