BackWerk in Rotterdam Centrum

Delicious coffee. Usually, the staff are nice, but today a gentleman (who didn't speak Dutch very well) asked a staff member if she could explain to him how the coffee machines work. The lady kept shouting that he had to press the "Cappuccino" button. There wasn't a cup yet, nothing. I eventually helped the gentleman; he was quite shocked too. I find it very disrespectful how that gentleman was treated and think I will visit BackWerk less often. -the problem was solved, thanks! The staff are friendly now :)

My absolute favourite chocoladebroodjes from around. Service is always friendly and nice.

Pésima atención. Fuimos el 27 de Abril . No voy a volver. Éramos un grupo que bajó de un crucero. La mercadería se veía rica, pero la atención de la empleada fue tan mala que la mayoría nos fuimos sin consumir.

BackWERK is a German chain of sandwich shops, which expanded about 10 years ago into the Netherlands. The core business is take away bread products, sandwiches, bagels, rolls with a choice of filling and of course drinks, altough there is limited seating available on high bar stools along the glass partition. As this BackWERK branch is located in the Metro station Dijkzigt, serving the Erasmus University Hospital and the "Hogeschool Rotterdam", an untold amount of students pass the BackWERK every day, generating a brisk turnover. This is the main market of this BackWERK, consequently the shop is closed in the evening and in the wekend. I turned to BackWERK, because I had left my lunch box sitting in the fridge at home. The tuna baguette I ordered was tasty and filled with a generous amount of tuna salad. Prices are moderate. A convenient shop, this BackWERK.
