Backwerk in Wijk 21 Oude Haven

It says it's open when it's been closed for months.

I had a chicken sandwich. It lacked flavor, the bread was too hard, and the sandwich was only filled with chicken on the visible outside and nothing inside. I won't fall for that again, so they won't be seeing me again. It was also very cold inside. Not nice for the customers and even worse for the staff.

Visited here a few times during my holiday. It is a lovely, cheaper place to have breakfast/lunch! The selection is great and upstairs, there's some seats near the windows which were nice to sit at and look out. This is one of the more 'affordable' choices if you are a tourist on a budget! Highly recommend. The coffee is also very nice.

The coffee machine shows a price of €2.50 for a cappuccino. However, at checkout, I'm charged €2.80. I pointed this out, but was curtly told they couldn't change it and the price on the machine was the old one. The machine also looks dirty. The caked-on spout of the machine keeps ending up in the cup. Backwerk isn't used to this at other locations (including Enschede).

The vegetables need to be cut better, it's sloppy, chunky pieces, and plus 2 pieces of egg and a slice of cheese divided, that's really bad

Ate at Backwerk in Zaandam on 27 Dec 2024. After a day in Zaandam. Because I had already had a very nice lunch in Alkmaar at a Backwerk, I had high hopes that this one would be just as good. But unfortunately. The smoothie was good, only the bun was baked super hard, biting it was almost impossible. Even my boyfriend had trouble with it. The atmosphere in this Backwerk is also a bit chilly. Not as cozy as my experience in Alkmaar. But the worst thing that I knew for sure I would never come to this branch again is that they put the buns in the right place and refill them with their bare hands. For example, employee 1 came to refill the buns with her hands and 2 minutes later employee 2 came to put the same buns in the right place again, also with his bare hands. This was not the case at all at Backwerk Alkmaar. There, all the staff wear gloves as they should. Even when refilling the smoothies. So for me, never again at this branch. Too bad, but unfortunately.

There's a pigeon walking around in here. Poops on everything. When I pointed this out to staff, he said "yes, there's nothing I can do about that". Of course, but you have to make an effort and that boy definitely didn't have the energy to do anything at all.

This is a good place to get something to eat when you're in the city. The food is pre-made, they serve in a buffet style where you put your order on a tray and check out at the end of the line. It can get a little crowded in the queue at times. Would recommend if you're looking for a quick snack while in the city.

Incredible!! I ate here today and come here often because I like it. But today I paid €5.50 for a baguette, a large slice of baguette contained two slices of egg and two slices of tomato. I understand that you can save money, but this is incredibly crooked. It won't be long before anything else will be added.

Half an egg on a bun. Typical Dutch miserliness.

Super hard bread, it hurts your palate. Also incredibly stingy for a sandwich costing almost 6 euros

Tasty sandwiches, self service, cold but clean interior.

Super fresh sandwiches and drinks in all shapes and sizes. Helpful and friendly staff. It takes some getting used to that the sandwiches go straight onto the tray, without a plate or something like that.

Ordered a healthy sandwich Apparently without ham and with stingy toppings. 2 pieces of egg see photo. Tasted dry

Few options and more expensive than in local bakeries

Always easy to grab a quick bite to eat.

Ferment avant l’heure et interdisent les toilettes. Accueil peu sympathique. Smoothie pas réalisés à la commande. Je ne recommande pas.

On a nice sunny day you decide to get a relatively healthy sandwich. Turns out three times nothing. Typical hipster sandwiches. Bland in taste, lettuce with chicken and tomato. Staff was not friendly and there was little atmosphere. Better go to subway next time :)

Don't come for the atmosphere because it isn't there. Sandwiches in themselves are ok, but don't mention that a healthy baguette contains ham... because it isn't included... and not once... not every time... Is there a reason for that (not halal)?.....But like so many things...everything is deteriorating....

Mediocre,.. it used to be a really good thing but it has really deteriorated.. often when I walk in I first look to see if there are flies in the display case 🤢

Good coffee and delicious sandwiches and affordable.

Had a reasonably tasty tuna melt sandwich (€5.50) and salmon bagel (€5.50) and a smoothie (€3.50). Quite atmospheric. No plates, just food from your tray and drinks from plastic. Dirty table (which was promised would be cleaned but no one saw it anymore) and at 1pm the chairs are still on the table and there is a lot of rubbish upstairs (storage). Toilets are not in order (women's toilet is probably defective). Then I know nicer places in Zaandam where you can have a pleasant experience for the same money.

Great place for an easy sandwich.

Nice place, reasonable clean, food not warmed up long enough and chocolate lukewarm. in the meantime: no glasses or reusable cups for coffee, or other drinks.

Ik kwam hier vandaag om brood te eten met mijn vrouw. Eerst een vuile koffiemachine, daarna dame was bezig met de afwas en het wassen van groenten met dezelfde handschoenen waarmee ze mijn brood aanraakte. Is dat hygiëne??? toen ik haar vertelde dat ze mijn brood had verwisseld en dat brood vervolgens terug naar de toonbank had gelegd, zodat andere klanten dat brood konden kopen. Zo duur brood en een onhygiënische plek. Eigenaar van het Backwerk Zaandam moet HCAAP-training geven aan werknemers.

Vriendelijk personeel, alles is altijd schoon en de broodjes waren heerlijk. Vitrines zagen er verzorgd uit. En de prijs maakt het extra fijn!

Zoals altijd lekker broodje gegeten @Backwerk.

Vroeger kwam ik vaker langs een filiaal van deze keten. Toen genoot ik al van dit concept. Ik ben positief verrast over hoe het blijkbaar nog verbeterd is. Ik kan niet precies zeggen hoe, maar ik vond het mooier, gezelliger en met een ruim assortiment. Dit filiaal was schoon met tafeltjes van verschillende grootte niet te dicht op elkaar en een voor mij goede keuze aan lekkere broodjes.

Je wordt er Vriendelijk geholpen en het is schoon ook belangrijk.

Lo llamo lugar de rescate porque necesitábamos comer algo rico y tomar algo calentito y acá había ambas cosas con el plus de tener un local lindo y tranquilo. Lo único malo fue el baño que estaba hecho un asco, pero para hacer una "parada técnica" estaba bien.

Broodje kip met bbqsaus was heerlijk smoothie ook heerlijk. Voor broodje en smoothie samen 9 euro kwijt. Heerlijk gegeten.

Overtreffelijke broodjes als ontbijt/lunch/brunch. De broodjes zijn echt heerlijk en de smoothies zijn ook erg lekker. Ik raad het zeker aan om hier heen te gaan.

Superverse broodjes en een zeer ruim assortiment. Al diverse keren hier gegeten. Wat fijn dat je ook ergens een gezond broodje kunt eten tijdens een dagje winkelen.

Alkmaar veel schoner, meer aanbod. Toilet niet schoon, geen handzeep. Er er liep maar een meisje in de zaak, voor bediening. Jammer.......en boven was het bloedheet......

Vanmiddag een lekker broodje gegeten met cappuccino er bij. Winkel/restaurant is niet echt gezellig, meer een soort kantine.

Op de fiets van uit Haarlem richting Zaandam krijg je trek in een koffie. Zijn we bij Backwerk naar binnen gestapt Een mooie schone zaak, waar je een koffie klein €1,75 en groot €2,00 kunt krijgen en van het toilet gebruik kunt maken. En groot is echt groot, je zou het kunnen delen. Een grote koffie en een Cappuccino voor €4,00. Eventueel nog een muffin of donut of een van vele belegde broodjes.

Heerlijke broodjes. En ze kunnen ook nog gemaakt worden voor je als ze op zijn. Heerlijk!

Broodje tonijn en broodje kip waren lekker! Flesje water erbij... Jammer dat personeel nog niet met mondkapjes rond liep.

We kwamen regelmatig bij deze zaak in Zaandam en hadden een spaarkaart voor een gratis kop.koffie. Nou daar deden ze ineens niet meer aan mee. Ander jasje, andere eigenaar dus spaarkaart kan in de prullenbak. Ook de klantenservice reageert niet op onze mail. Hoe klantvriendelijk kun je zijn. De zaak is erg ongezellig en onoverzichtelijk geworden. Never change a winning team. Nou zij wel. Wat een achteruitgang van deze, eens zo klantvriendelijke, zaak. Datum van bezoek: februari 2019
